PS4 Pro Liquid Metal vs Thermal Paste: ua-cam.com/video/HMQ59icUG4A/v-deo.html *PLEASE NOTE !!!* In this video I disassemble the PS4 Pro of the 2nd generation (CUH-7200 series) and disconnect the power supply cable different from the PS4 Pro 1st generation (CUH-7000 or CUH-7100 series). *If you have a 1st gen PS4 Pro, watch this video guide ->* ua-cam.com/video/dJgXobATp3A/v-deo.html
The power supply wire came off when I unplugged it... even if I can disconnect the two pieces again will it go back into the PlayStation base once more or is there some type of adhesive needed. I fucked it up..
Word of advice to anyone looking to follow this guide. When you remove the power supply, do not try to remove the cord from the motherboard. Instead, remove it from the power supply itself. I stupidly followed the instructions in this video and ended up ripping the whole thing out of the motherboard just to immediately realize that it would have been much easier to remove from the power supply end. Hope this helps someone so they are not left without a ps4 like I was.
I mean its about your personal preference, i tried it both ways, almost ripped out the cables out of power supply and had no problem with removing it from the mother board
Just followed this guide after putting it off for ages due to *the fear*, and taking it slowly and using a magnetic screw organiser made it so simple. PS4 is now whisper-quiet and load times have improved. Great guide, thanks 👍
This was amazing. Bought an used PS4 Pro first version (7016B ). This video helped me a lot. Clamp of the CPU chip was different but easy to understand. The thermal paste out of the factory was fully dried up and almost nothing in the chip anymore. Fully cleaned it with alcohol and afterwards used a layer of noctua thermal paste and the PS4 Pro is soooo silent. The difference is day and night. This was zo worth it. Almost wanted to sell it off again. Super!
Thank you for the amazing video. My pro is now almost silent. I have the older rmodel but its almost exactly the same. A few less screws to pull on the inside and a slightly different cpu shroud. This was so thorough and easy to follow. I watched some other video that only includes taking off the top and bottom covers and trying to clean the fan without even removing it. No chance at reaching the radiator that way either which was totally clogged on my unit and no reapplying of thermal compound which is the REAL reason they all sound like jets. That video had almost 3 million views and isn't anywhere NEAR as good as this one so I added a link to this video in the comments. Thanks again for the help! Now I don't cringe every time I turn my system on. Mine was ramping up loudly even just in the dashboard. P.S. I also took your advice and made some coffee before putting it back together. I like your style. I don't trust people who don't drink coffee. 😀
Tnx a lot!! Just opened my ps 4 pro after 4 years,at the end it was a jetplane . Followed the video and the radiator was clocked. Also thermal paste was like dry clay. Clean everything up with alcohol and replace the thermal with Noctua NT-H2 . Put everything back together and tested it with a game session. The fan didn't had to run fast,it was so quiet . So big tnx for this video!! My kids are happy and i don't have to hear that noise again.
My ps4 was a different model number but your guide is simple enough to follow regardless. Was able to clean all the dust and replace the thermal paste with some artic silver mx4. My ps4 pro is quite as can be now.
Finally got around to trying this and goddamn what a difference.. It finally sounds normal and makes playing games a treat rather than an annoyance from all the noise. It almost never ramps up the fan anymore now, simply amazing. Thank you for a great tutorial, was pretty straightforward to do.
This is insane. I have a day one PS4 Pro and for a while it has been as loud as a hairdryer. It accurately sounded like a fighter jet taking off with a high pitched screeching sound. It was so bad that I went back to playing on my base PS4. But now, after replacing the thermal paste with an Arctic MX-4 I can't believe how striking the difference is. It's as quiet as my Nintendo Switch! Thanks for the detailed instructions!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I purchased a Pro recently and it sounded like a jet plane taking off until I repasted and cleaned the fan. Now its whisper quiet!😎
This was super helpful i followed step by step, and i say to anyone who want to try clean the ps4 just follow every step and you will be fine! My ps4 not making noise and its like brand new now!! Thank u so much for this video!
I’ve been thinking about taking apart my ps for about 2 months now and this video and the comments finally gave me the confidence to do it, thank you, my PlayStation works perfectly and the process was very simple
Excellent video. I've never done anything like this but was able to source the bits I needed and follow the video along easily. My PS4 is now almost silent! Made a massive difference, thanks a lot
Bought a pawn shop PS4 Pro. It was one of the different models that was mentioned, but this was close enough to help me get through my cleaning. Went from opening a game and thinking the fan was going to spin itself apart at a decibel level that was insane, to now I can't even hear a fan at all lol
My dear Sir, you deserve a slice of Sony. Thanks a lot for the most smoothest video on this topic. I wanted for a long time to clean my ps4 inside as well and change the paste but I wasn't that sure. I said I have nothing to lose now as my ps4-pro was turning into a propper spaceship while playing Warzone. 🤦🏻♂️ I literally had a strip the size of a finger of pure dust on the side of radiator 😶🤦🏻♂️ I cleaned it and placed a new termic paste... And the ps4 is SILENT ! ABSOLUTELY NO SOUND... even in Warzone !! There is constantly no sound no matter what I do !!! Thanks a lot for the help and easy steps and explanation. Those termal beds were a bit of a headache as 2 of them came off just like that. One from the front and one from back. But i noticed and placed them back and everything is okay for the moment. Very professional video. Thanks again !!! Subscribed ✅ keep it up 🙏🏼🙏🏼
3 Times to clean out my ps4 and always do thermal paste replacement...(and its work and no sound like a jet taking off..) Sory my English from out of nowhere
Thank for this video. I followed your steps exactly. And was completely successful in disassembling, cleaning, applying a thermal paste (the good one, kryonaught I think, had a heat conductivity value far higher than others). Reassembling was just as easy. Console runs whisper silent playing COD MW 3.
Even though it is an "old" video (some years) it really helped me out on how to change the cooling paste on my PS4 Pro, so Many Many Many Thanks. ❤️ From "PlayStation International Airport" to and tiny Airfield only for sailplanes. Mhh So quiet. 🤤 Oh man I was in for an surprise when I Took it apart, so much dust (who would have thought.) but what I was really surprised about is the fact that there where almost no cooling paste on the chip itself, just a tiny "fog'ish/Mist" look so the chip was almost clean of cleaning, all of the paste was actually around the chip it self so no wonder it run warm. That being said so is this my very first opening and paste changing of a console! Hurray. 🥳 Again Many thanks for the video.
Bought a perfectly good PS4 pro cheap.. figured it was struggling somehow... typically on Xbox it’s just a dead body inside.. I tried out the PS4 and she was screaming for help under load. Thanks to your walk through I had it all apart no problem. Was a first PS4 disassemble... all iso cleaned, all new thermal pasted etc.. she’s now sitting silent under load. Just wanted to say cheers for the 101 👊🤪 ... only complaint I’d give is I somehow missed the ‘take these two out’ to allow the psu to release ... but palm faced once I realised... cheers 🥂
Just wanted to say thanks so much for this!! My PS4 Pro sounded like an airplane, even when using things like UA-cam. It would overheat constantly and it was putting me off playing anything. But yesterday I followed this tutorial and now it's silent, even when playing high-end games! Again, thank you so much.
Thank you. Just bought my ps4 pro in may and it was overheating within a month, come to find out they skimped on the thermal paste which was nonexistent in my console. Saved me the hassle of sending it in to sony! Thanks again
Thank you so much for this video! I no longer am operating an airport in my living room anymore! And now I can finally play The Last of Us Part 2 without it overheating 20 min into gameplay. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
Thanks, i didnt change the thermal paste but i cleaned the heatsink since it was 95% blocked by very thick dust and strings, now its very quiet while playing warzone, thanks again subscribed and liked!
Thanks to your tutorial, I was able to clean my console and replace a thermal grease, without damaging it! Before cleaning PS4 Pro sounded like a rocket launch, now.. it is silent as an old movie! Only sound from games 🎮 Thank you so much Sir! Regards
Broke mine all the way down and put it all back together again no problem, runs as quiet as it did brand new now 🤘 Seriously great video, kudos for highlighting all the screw holes, that helped alot.
Had to check my fan was actually still working after this, very helpful and thorough guide thank you. If it helps anybody I replaced the paste with Arctic MX-4.
Excellent video, I have never taken totally apart before like this and I fixed my PS4Pro. I replaced the thermal paste, and the fan while I was in there since that was also more or less done for. I don't think I have ever heard the console run so still - the difference is incredible and it now longer overheats when running demanding games. My PS4Pro was a launch model and is 4 or 5 years old (I forget) and there were some minor differences inside, but easy to work around.
Thanks, took me about an hour following your guide. Mines an original Pro so it looked a bit different, but I figured it out. Haven't tested on a marathon gaming session, but just loaded up ff7 remake and usually my pro goes into overdrive just from loading the menu
This is my second time doing this after not getting a result the first time, and I realized one of the thermal pads is missing… thanks for the video, I wouldn’t have noticed that if you didn’t emphasize it.
Woo-hoo 😊! Great vid. Was seriously apprehensive about doing this and am not technically minded at all. Followed step by step and ... nothing 😢no boot. Opening the case I quickly saw I hadn't connected a ribbon cable, doh! Quick re-assembly and boom works a treat. Also replaced the internal HD with a 2tb SSD and now runs whisper quiet.
Wow so I own the Death Stranding edition since release and never cleaned it before. This video definitely help a lot and my ps4 sounds silent it’s crazy but one thing I recommend is when removing the power supply pull the connector out from the power supply and not the motherboard, it’s easier and cheaper to repair if you break it
Thank you! Great guide! I cleaned my PS4 PRO and everything works too, no extra screws left, haha. Noise went from 50-60db to 20-30db. Wish I have cleaned it sooner.
I just did it, easy with this tutorial 😀. when I finally get to the old paste I was really surprised that my ps4 was working at all. all old paste was around CPU, between CPU and radiator just a bit, never properly applied to whole surface. in fact radiator was useless and not working.
Hey great video! I did mine yesterday and the results are surprising (noise and temp.) Congratulations for your detailed step by step guidance. Only at the end where you started reassembling it again you did the Torx screws first and then the Philips ones and for us that we were keeping the pace it was a bit stressing at the end!😂😂😂😂 But nothing serious! Everything works better than original! Congratulations again! Great video!
After watching 5 minutes I have decided to live with my jet engine. I'm sure I'll never put it back together again. :-). Cheers for the great video though!
I was really nervous about this however I took my time and followed along and created a chart and took pictures of each location for the screws. Applied thermal paste by coolmaster and cleaned the vents and radiator of dust and wow I cannot even hear my playstation. The original paste job was horribly botched and almost nonexistent.
Great video. I would recommend though when removing power supply, remove plug from power supply not circuit board. They are cheap soldered to the board and it is easier to replace power supply than motherboard!
Amazing, just amazing, i have the OG Ps4 Pro and from day one i had noise problems. Applied new thermal paste and followed this guide for deap clean and now 2 hours in and the console is extremely quiet. Thanks a lot my friend. Ps : i would like to inform you though ,that torx t8 doesn't work on the OG model ,i had to use 0.50 slotted i think ✌🏻✌🏻 hope that helps
Thank you so much for this! I went from having a jet engine to a whisper quiet console. I swear they got more thermal paste on the board than the processor.
Thanks so much for this video. It was paced perfectly for following along. I was honestly scared to death that I would mess this up but so far my ps4 pro is whisper quiet!
That’s because u have a different model of the ps4 pro for example there is 3 models for it 7000 series 7100 series and 7200 series and that guys ps4 pro in the video is a 7200 series so u either have a 7000 or a 7100 series
I followed this tutorial and wiped off the thermal paste like you said. I couldn't my ps4 for like 5 days cause u didn't say it was gonna get replaced until later lol
Excellent video! I will try it - Just one question, my ps4 pro is 2 years old and have been playing hard games like witcher, horizon zero down and detroit become human...the noise is suffocating my mind and I cleaned the fan already, so next step is changing the thermal paste? Thank u, btw
very helpfull thou my ps4 pro board different from yours but i adapt the method... plus very hard to pull out the power supply and i managed to place the thermal. paste.....
I work on cars all the time, I can disassemble and reassemble an engine with no issue but I'd be incredibly nervous trying to do this to a PS4. I don't know why but working on things like this intimidates me but building a 500hp engine doesn't lol.
Good tutorial, except that i tore my 4pin connector cable, severed two cables and now i don't know what to do. can i replace it with a random new one or does it have to specificly be the pro one? (ER300 / CUH7xx)
I followed this guide and managed to rip out the powersupply socket off the motherboard due to poor factory production. I was gentle and have built many computers and still managed to be one of the unluckiest ones...time to solder it back on then.
@@lowsmart I had it solded back on by a professional. My ps4 pro is the latest version so it has 1 earth on either side of the pin that gets solded as earth to stick. Then theres 4 pins in middle connected from socket to motherboard. If you want I can show pictures of before and after.
@@lowsmart I had mine fixed but my ps4 pro keeps switching itself off so it's not fully fixed. The powersupply socket is fully solded and fixed but something isn't right...hope you have better luck than me.

Saw it too late. Same happened to me.
Same to me
Just cleaned my PS4 Pro and replaced thermal paste and pads and it is much quieter now. Thanks for tutorial on disassembling the thingi!

It is quite but feels hot

Thank you so much for this! I went from having a jet engine to a whisper quiet console. I swear they got more thermal paste on the board than the processor.
Thanks so much for this video. It was paced perfectly for following along. I was honestly scared to death that I would mess this up but so far my ps4 pro is whisper quiet!
This guy saved me from buying a whole new console.
BEWARE when you remove power supply cable. I damaged that socket on motherboard. Gave up with it, thank god its still working.
My ps4 pro is being very loud lately, i hope this will help
THANK YOU SO MUCH I CLEANED MINE THANKS TO YOUR TUTORIAL 🤩
Great video - thank you. Saved the PSPro from being thrown out of the window :)
Top man for the video fixed mine 1st time with your video. Much appreciated 👍
Excellent video. I don't know why but my ps4 pro has an X above the cpu and his was a like an S?
That’s because u have a different model of the ps4 pro for example there is 3 models for it 7000 series 7100 series and 7200 series and that guys ps4 pro in the video is a 7200 series so u either have a 7000 or a 7100 series
Best tutorial on UA-cam! Thanks a lot!...
Thanx for this i did everything except the thermal grease part. I just want to clean it
This guy is a legend
I followed this tutorial and wiped off the thermal paste like you said. I couldn't my ps4 for like 5 days cause u didn't say it was gonna get replaced until later lol
Very helpful and well instructed which made this daunting task easy.
Excellent video! I will try it - Just one question, my ps4 pro is 2 years old and have been playing hard games like witcher, horizon zero down and detroit become human...the noise is suffocating my mind and I cleaned the fan already, so next step is changing the thermal paste? Thank u, btw
very helpfull thou my ps4 pro board different from yours but i adapt the method... plus very hard to pull out the power supply and i managed to place the thermal. paste.....
EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you!
Make sure the thermal pads are there. Do not add too little or too much thermal paste. Otherwise could over heat and start smoking. Mine did. 😅
I work on cars all the time, I can disassemble and reassemble an engine with no issue but I'd be incredibly nervous trying to do this to a PS4. I don't know why but working on things like this intimidates me but building a 500hp engine doesn't lol.
Great teardown! Thanks
Thank you so much! It made disassembly and reassembly a breeze! You're truly the best!
Excellent tutorial, very clear.
Not gonna lie I thought your next step to reassemble the ps4 was to pour coffee beans into it 🤣
thank you very mush, now i don't even notice the sound of the ps4 pro😃👍
Good tutorial, except that i tore my 4pin connector cable, severed two cables and now i don't know what to do. can i replace it with a random new one or does it have to specificly be the pro one? (ER300 / CUH7xx)
This was a well done and helpful video 👍
The best video for this job!!
I followed this guide and managed to rip out the powersupply socket off the motherboard due to poor factory production. I was gentle and have built many computers and still managed to be one of the unluckiest ones...time to solder it back on then.
I managed to get myself into the same problem.. Have you resolved the issue?
@@lowsmart I had it solded back on by a professional. My ps4 pro is the latest version so it has 1 earth on either side of the pin that gets solded as earth to stick. Then theres 4 pins in middle connected from socket to motherboard. If you want I can show pictures of before and after.
@@pajam88 Hey yeah sure, I pulled it off just hours ago, so the wounds are still wet.. I will send my email address to you.
@@lowsmart I had mine fixed but my ps4 pro keeps switching itself off so it's not fully fixed. The powersupply socket is fully solded and fixed but something isn't right...hope you have better luck than me.
@@pajam88 Yea I finally decided to take mine to the pro to get fixed. Haven't got any news tho. Finger crossed.
What do I do with the two remaining philips screw that were left? 😂 Fml man, should I redo the whole process
