- Video on how to install your T-top weatherstrip seals. Any 1982-92 Firebird or
Camaro. I used new OEM seals from gm. Long video of the whole process, mostly uncut. Here's the weatherstrip adhesive I used amzn.to/3fuNOlS
That’s a really good video. I took my t top weather stripping out a few months ago and I have been wondering how the new one installs You answer my question. Thank you!!!
welcome
good job man!! i will do mine this summer! :D
Glad I saw this video. I took the cams and mounts off and it was great to see that you have the plastic off so
That allowed me to see it. I like the idea of using the dynamat in the corners. I'll do that and place the sealant on the mat.
I got the soft seal brand and it seems they are about an inch too long on the front near the cams. The screw hole is too far away from the mount.
Good video man!!!
Thanks
Nice job thank you
You were supposed to use either dynamat or some kind of 3M VHB tape up under the t center rail that you attached to your car you are also supposed to shoot a huge glob of butyl caulking is what you're talking about when you're pointing with your finger in that Gap it's called black butyl caulking and about a third of a cup should have went in both of those places where you see that crack right after you screwed your t-bar down but not before you insulated up under the t-bar for vibration like it was from the factory and every t-top car from the 70s to 88
Good work Thanx
I’m having trouble putting the T top latches in the correct places, any input would be welcome.thanks don
Update, after my first CAR WASH in the driveway, NO LEAKS!!!
Anyone know if Hawksmotorsports NEW REPRODUCTION GM RESTORATION, T-TOP WEATHERSTRIP KIT (8 PIECE), FOR FISHER BODY T-TOPS just as good and reliable?
Can you put the link to the strip you used ?
Nice clear install! My son and I are watching over and over before we install our weatherstrip on our 87 Camaro. One question, that is unclear to me. The hard plastic tabs that you put the screw in......does the thick plastic piece go inside or outside the metal tab?? In other words do you put the screw through the plastic tab and into the metal tab or metal tab first? The part I mean is at 3 minutes 22 seconds in your video. Thanks Jay
You know what I dont remember. You should know once its installed it should fall right in place where it should go.
Underneath the t bar, did you use any sealing pads "sticky pads" like it mentions in the gm t top waterleak manual? I cant seem to find replacement pads
DNT remember. I may have used the old one.
What’s the hard plastic that goes on the t tops the actual glass part my driver side is broke and idk what to search to find it I just find the seals for inside of the car part
Not sure, but if you find a local junk yard, its the best place to pull it.
knightrider did you scuff up your mouldings because of the mould release agent they you so they dont stick in the mould...???
Not sure I understand your ?
@@JacobKnightRiderShop when they make these mouldings they use an agent so they dont stick to mould when the take them out and when you install them you have to scuff them up so they will bond with the glue....its something i didnt know either

Hello, great movie, where can I buy the new T-TOP tape in the movie? I want to buy it too, thank you
Hawkes 3td gen ir Ricks Camaros.
Can anyone help me out on the best place to find these seals for a good price?
try ebay
Fyi, window urethane is not uv protected. That's why there is that black tint around the perimeter of the windshield. 100% silicone is safe to use where uv rays will hit it.
I'm about to do exactly what you did. Only difference is my car is a Camaro and color is red. New paint, new GM seals. How is it holding up?
My cars leak free two years later. No issues
@@JacobKnightRiderShop great!! Did you put any sealant under the t top bar? I know gm had some square pieces butal towards the front and rear that covered those 1" holes on bottom of t top bar.
Thanks for the reply. Nice work!
@@bucksnortbumblefuk6872 yes I think I did put some there
what glue you used for the seals?
3m adhesive glue in black color. Weatherstrip adhesive. Blk tube
amzn.to/3fuNOlS here's the glue I used
I can't for the life of me get the corners right. The front 2 corners have gaps in them and aren't right. I wish you could still get oem seals. The kind I got were from Hawks. I've taken them out completely maybe 50 times and still can't get them.
I have done the fronts before you to fill a good amount in that area. Fill the corner then add some more to seal the outside once the seal is in place.
im going soon paint my KITT and im going watch all your painting videos again, i wish you would have shown how you sand the car, cause i seen people you a orbital sander, But anyways im going have to get new seals, Two i have seen, 1A Auto and Softseal, Which company should i go with?
I like softseal
nice info just wish I could see half if what u r doing...work on video as we came to see it:)
My third gens roof got completely rusted out
That Sucks.
@@JacobKnightRiderShop yeah I need to get a new roof and for a normal non t top roof it is $200 not including shipping but it’s not that much of a problem I will get it fixed soon
Dude talks a lot!
I know sometimes I wish Id just shut up and keep people wondering how I did things.
