As an architect and historic preservationist, this is sad to see. All is not lost, potentially. I have friends in the south of france who acquired a very large (90+ room) chateau in words condition than this one. It is becoming one of the most beautiful buildings/homes in southwest France. It is now listed as a Class 1 monument with Monument Historique. Thanks for showing this. Cheers-
I’ve seen some amazing restorations on shows like Restoration Home and similar when they seem lost to time and rot. The amount of funding required is significant though!
In Portugal ruins and run down buildings are everywhere.. some are amazing, historical and beautiful.. makes me so sad to see.. wish I had millions of euros so I could save them all.
Shame we can't have a EU fund to reroof all these old buildings.. just to give a bit of time until a new owner falls in love with the property.. buys a bit of time
It's really sad to see such a beautiful building so full of history literally dying before our eyes. Restoring it would be a 100% labour of love. I hope someone with the right amount of passion saves it for the future
I can’t believe someone hasn’t saved this chateau it’s just beautiful. Love, love the tower and the bell is so cute. The fireplaces are amazing. The property is just beautiful. A tree could block the other bad property.
Sorry to say Anna and Ed , THAT abandoned chateau chooses you, cries for your Love and care. Doing nothing looks like another abandon 😪😉😇. Saying that, it s unfair because I have no skills at all and no money just LOVE as you do ,old properties. Thank you for the tour and Many many respect for all the works you do in Bordeaux Life. I believe that someone bought it. The gardener of chateau de la Lalande? Anyone know? I recognize the inside tree, but I’ve lost my link to see how far they got.

Hi Ed and Anna! Good to see you back. I always enjoy whatever you show us…..renovations, old chateaus, family and friends, weddings and Bordeaux life, and life in general around your part of France. Thank you for the interesting vlogs!
So good to see you both, it's sad to see this Chateau in a state of ruin, it would cost so much to bring it back to life. A restored 18th century building I lived in and loved for seven years during the 90s was sold by the owners and then inexplicably left to decay once again. I now after the past few years of watching these chateau channels understand their attraction for me. Perhaps it was the music or the shared sense of loss (the mystery of the former inhabitants over the centuries)but I found this a bittersweet film beautifully “Ed”ited and constructed. Well done.
Several avenues and many streets in St. Paul have magnificent mansions, Summit Avenue being the most acclaimed. Detroit and many cities across America have abandoned and/or decaying mansions. Sadly, just like the great estates in England and elsewhere many of these fairy-tale architectural wonders are being lost.

Hi Anna & Edd, really good to see you both. Hope the children are well. It is such a shame seeing a beautiful building left like that, but it's even sadder that people will come to vandalize and destroy what was left. I guess it wasn't for sale years ago, with all the people that were looking for chateau's to buy and fix up, but as you said Edd it is in an expensive area and it would take a lot of money. How did I miss this spectacular chateaux!! It is a beauty even in its ruin. If only I could be so lucky to restore such a masterpiece! It has so much potential. ❤
If I had more money than God, I'd love that place. I'm rooting for you, how lovely to bring that wreck back to being the beautiful home it deserves to be.

So good to see you both, We've missed you. Thank you for showing us this once beautiful chateau. The restoration part of me is very sad but common sense says its sadly so far gone. It is a lovely size chateau. Love the grounds also. Enjoyed.
Great to see you both again... miss you but know that this is your busy season and glad that things have gone well for you! So sad that this chateau is in such a far gone state. It must have been beautiful in its day. Bless you!!

Really fun vlog. I just love auctions. In the uk it's a similar situation where brown furniture doesn't sell. I have bought great paintings, sometimes in ugly frames and transformed them with new frames - i found a company online that offers a chop service so all i have to do is glue and clamp the 4 pieces, i bought a glazers points and a fletcher tool - the tools cost about £30 and i can transform anything 😊, saves a fortune. I have also seen chandeliers not selling or selling for little money. Looking forward to seeing the passion project furnished. Loving the townhouse renovation.
Oh wow Ed and Anna what a beautiful chateau. So sad to it’s it in such a neglected state. I know you both would make this place so beautiful but I appreciate how busy you are with the business. This has Billy Preterick written all over it, as like you his restoration of these beautiful buildings is beautifully sympathetic. Perhaps when he’s finished the convent? 😆Much love to all the family. Xxxx
When I saw the miniature, I was Like : I know this chateau ! And yes ! When I was riding my Bicycle I found it by chance … It was in 2015 and it was allready in terrible shape, the pool has an Escobar style ! The chateau in the other side was also completely abandoned !
If you ever hear of someone purchasing this forgotten Château please let us all know. Hope if purchased the folks will start a UA-cam channel so we can encourage them. Sad that the owners just left it to go like that.
I would pitch in to help save this place and restore it with lots of love and care. I don't have that kind of funds but I would love to watch each episode here and see it transform beautifully one room at a time.
I thought that the gardener of Chateau de Lalonde bought it and got rid of the tree inside. I don’t know how far he got. I’ve lost the link somehow. I wanted to see how far he got. Anyone know more? It has really interesting history. The video that I saw talked about children who were orphaned by World War II were brought there to heal.
I would absolutely love to see this home restored!! Step by step. Too many historical homes have been left to be torn down or let to fall down. It’s terribly sad. 💕🙏🙏
inheritance laws are very strict in France. And if beneficiaries don't agree, the succession can be in limbo for decades or even never be resolved... it's quite common...
I loved that you 2 took some time out , to seek out other buildings that are also very beautiful, and yet need massive amounts of tender loving care . I hope you will do more of this kind of video, as time may allow . Thankyou for sharing with us .
This is definitely my fav abandonded chateau, location wise, view wise. this is the best thing for me, shame i'm still a student and i can't afford buying it, either way i would've definitely done it.
I miss the vlogs about your Passion Project but I hope you’re having a successful wedding season. Thanks for showing us this beautiful chateau. Hopefully someone with deep pockets will come along and save her.
Good to see you guys, your vlog is my fav in its genre, so miss it when it doesn’t show up for a while ❤ You both treated this once beautiful old building with such respect, like it was its final hurrah ❤️
What a fun tour! Sad that this chateau wasn’t sold when it was in better condition, as it seems it was just a few years ago. It’s the classic fairytale and you can see how beautiful it once was.
The main thing I like about the castle is the land and how it sits in the land. Nice to be in the countryside. Very potentially pretty castle or chateau though.
The chateau as it stands now is absolutely gorgeous! It would make a wonderful home for someone who appreciates the finer things in life. I would check out that large tree, however, sometimes these look solid but are not really safe and having something this size come crashing down would be dangerous. The owner of the chateau de Lalande has a very experienced tree expert who would know what to do.
When I moved to Dordogne two years ago I used to shout 'chateau chateau' at every bend on the road until I got a crick in my neck. There are over 1000 chateaux in this region. These days I'm more like ' ok a chateaux so what's new' ? I am slowly visiting some of them but the heat has put a stop to that. On visiting the incredible Chateau Biron we almost died from the heat, pity we couldn't manage the gardens.
This is so sad to see,It must of been a beautiful place at one time. This video caught my eye because my Grandfather was a Bordeaux from Canada. My grandmother dropped the X from Bordeaux for some reason of her own.I hope someone buys this property and do something with it.Thanks for sharing.God Bless
It would be wonderful if you, or someone else who cares as much as you two do, would rescue this beautiful chateau. Sadly, it is too far gone to be rescued without spending far too much money.
Very nice to see you both. Wonderful flog, sad about that château. Lots of history I’m sure. Beautiful vineyard that someone has been caring for. Have a great weekend.
Anna is such a daredeveil, ready to go upstairs even after seeing that massive beam collapsed and the tub fallen from upstairs! Glad you were together and Edd said no way!

Not the same Chateau. The one Dan bought is in much worse condition. Dan’s UA-cam channel is Escape to rural France.
I would absolutely love to see this home restored!! Step by step. Too many historical homes have been left to be torn down or let to fall down. It’s terribly sad. 💕🙏🙏
Why was it not sold That is tragic what has been allowed to happen to what used to be a beautiful home most enjoyable video ❤️❤️❤️
inheritance laws are very strict in France. And if beneficiaries don't agree, the succession can be in limbo for decades or even never be resolved... it's quite common...
Back property taxes could be an issue as well as bringing the château up to code with new electric, plumbing and masonry could be substantial.
A friend used to say that it is sad but it only makes what's left more valuable.
I wish you good luck! This really magic place needs to have loving owners again.
I loved that you 2 took some time out , to seek out other buildings that are also very beautiful, and yet need massive amounts of tender loving care . I hope you will do more of this kind of video, as time may allow . Thankyou for sharing with us .
It’s always heartbreaking for me to see these old glories in such disrepair 🥺
I found a few images from five years ago. Ed’s right, it was already too far gone. What a shame! Breaks my heart! Thank you for the visit.
What a beautiful project. So much potential... and so much work.
Thanks
Bless you for the work you have been doing for repair and work on the properties
That is absolutely beautiful….
Hello dear Anna and Ed this is such a beautiful Chateaux. Can’t wait to be going on this wonderful journey with you both . Thank you 🙏
Thankyou for sharing another wonderful vlog especially during your busiest season. It is as always a joy and pleasure to see you lovely people 😘😘
What a fun tour!
Delighted I found this, can’t wait to watch every single one , nice to meet you both ❤️
Lovely place and worth saving 👌
I agree it is so sad that it has been left to go wreck and ruin. Also, I love all those trees too!!!
Wonder what it would sell for in this condition? Good to see you both back!
Yeah maybe 10 years ago it could have been saved, but it's beyond any reasonable cost/benefit analysis at this point.
Thanks for sharing your day . Its so very sad to see it that way
Amazing chateau. Glad you all didn't go up the steps!
