Another great episode! I have always heard about linenfold paneling but had not seen any of it until watching your videos. This is such a beautiful example and the great hall was just stunning overall. The barrel ceiling was amazing! The innovations Giles has initiated for electricity and heating are so interesting, I have a lot of questions,lol! Great job Julie!

The installation of that Solar System is an enormousin undertaking. It takes major money to get it up and running, but the positive thing in the long run it will pay for itself.
@25:00 that huge range of imported solar panels will be no use at night time or on short winter days, they have a limited life and cannot be recycled, @30:55 the 10 external heat pumps, noise? plus the others that weren’t shown require skilled competent technicians and expensive maintenance, they won’t last the 30 years the previous boilers did, the water temperature flowing underfloor and in radiators will be lower than from traditional boilers, so need running 24/7 in cold weather, i can’t imagine those huge old draughty rooms getting comfortable. If they lose mains power will any of this still work? I’d like to know how much the installation cost, what the annual bills are and what the feed-in tariff is.
Omg the 1950’s appliances in the middle of the kitchen looked so tacky. Thank goodness he knocked them down and restored it back to its more original version. I hope in the future he can restore the unicorn horn
This is WONDERFUL to see a house this old being helped to be sustained by modern tech!! Good on Giles for getting rid of those gas tanks and going with solar! I'm sure that if England were a sunnier place, he wouldn't get any bills at all, lol. I do wish you had talked about the obvious compost heaps we see there in the middle of the solar panel area; it's wonderful to see someone being so conscious about things that are not only cheaper to maintain, but better for the environment, too. I really hope more of the old estates will follow Aethelhampton's example. I know it means a large expense to start with and maybe shutting down portions of the estates that are usually open to tourists, but in the long run I think they will find it much more manageable.
Hi Julie Mr Keating said that the new addition to this beautiful house was built 60 years after the building of the first part of this house that was built in 1485 but he was wrong when he said that the new addition to the house was built 60 years later that is 1545 in the early years of Elizabeth s reign but that was impossible because Henry ViIi was still alive and his youngest daughter was 12 at the time just a reminder
It was a lovely house and Giles Keating was so nice. I was so distracted by Julie Montagu, Viscountess Hinchingbrooke's flailing her hands around constantly. She spoiled the program for me.

What about the "carbon footprint" in manufacturing the panels, slave labor, etc.? Plus, the environmental aspect when the panels need to be replaced/discarded? "Net Zero" is unrealistic. The history is interesting. The buildings and grounds are beautiful.
