  • For years, the Charismatic Voice community has been asking me to check out Gojira, and for years I've had it on my short list to visit. Cue Will Ramos of Lorna Shore, who during our latest outing mentioned how much he loves this band, and even selected the track for us to break down together!
    Also, I did a course with Will Ramos and Chris Liepe where you can learn how to create harsh vocal sounds yourself! Check it here: www.mymusicalvoice.com/p/ulti...
    Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff and Will Ramos, as they listen to Gojira for the first time, performing "Amazonia”.

    The song was written as a vehicle for environmental activism, with launching a fundraising effort on behalf of Brazil's indigenous tribes. Infrastructure, farming, mining, logging is destroying the Amazon. These Amazonian wildfires are a human-made disaster, set by loggers and cattle ranchers who use a "slash and burn" method to clear land. Feeding off very dry conditions, some of those fires have spread out of control.
    Also, Gojira is one of the grooviest metal arounds around today. This song is a killer.

      also they supported APIB directly (joe at least went to a couple of manifestations), this is why there are those protestsì clips in the video and the speech track close to the end of the song. I'd love to understand what the lady is saying in that speech but it's too buried into the song, and i guess it's in the speaker's language.

      @@TheCharismaticVoiceThat's the beauty of it all. Majority of society thinks that heavy metal is just noise or satanic, but it truly isn't. It can be the most beautiful sound in the world, with powerful messages and what's great about it all is that metalheads like ourselves are usually the nicest people on earth.

    • @Ivantheterrible81280
      @Ivantheterrible81280 10 місяців тому

      Problem with activism is it’s all protests, no solutions. Get these loggers better jobs where they can make more money. Much of Brazil’s poverty and crime makes North America’s look like a vacation. If I had a family to feed and that was what I needed to do, I’d do it, despite my personal objections. They care about feeding their families & paying their bills. And it makes their economy overall a lot of money. So go there and find a solution. Because marching around with signs doesn’t do jack.

      Ackshualy🤓, Joe's vocal are, at the very best, decent. Often, he screams in a way that hurts that hirts the singer's voice, which is the reason why we see him struggling lately. His voice just can't keep up with the abuse it's being put through almost without breaks. I do like Gojira, I'm not even saying that I don't enjoy the vocals. They are very listenable, just not technical.
      There are a lot of much less known metal vocalists that do much more impressive stuff

    • @jonnyj.
      @jonnyj. 10 місяців тому

      @@dmytrotsvyntarnyi799 Yikes. You clearly dont know shit about vocals. Did you even watch the video? Do you know why these HIGHLY trained vocalists were so confused? Do you know why Will, who is very experienced in metal vocals, couldnt figure out joe's technique?
      Joe's vocals are THE MOST technical metal vocals i know of. It is INSANELY hard to do pitched screams like him without immediately destroying your voice... which is why no one tries to imitate it. He did it for 20+ years, and still does it today. Meshuggah from the none ep had some cool pitched stuff, but now jens does a typical bland metal scream. Show me a metal vocalist today where you can't tell right away what technique hes doing. I'll wait.

    Will said he loves the vocalist Anders from In Flames, so please react to some In Flames!!
    In Flames is a Swedish band that started as "melodic death metal" but slowly transitioned to an alternative sound, and they (along with other Swedish bands) have had massive influence on American 2000's metal bands.
    Anders is incredibly underrated imo, he does an excellent job of mixing pure clean vocals with screaming within the same line, Great songs to check out would be Clayman, or Only for the Weak, both from their album Clayman, or Take this Life from their album Come Clarity!

    Finally! Love the content as usual! I believe that The Gift of Guilt, live in london at the University is worth checking out. It excellently showcases the live dynamic between the musicians, as well as Joe Duplantier's live singing.

    I’ve seen Gojira live twice and every time I cried. Silvera is another great song by them, I’ve seen them live in Seattle and in Portland recently. They were touring with Deftones when I saw them in Seattle. They all are so talented, I definitely would see them again. It’s looking like I might see TOOL live this fall if everything goes well. I’m excited to see more content from you guys, maybe Mastodon can be next?
