3 vocal professions geeking over sleep token makes the world so right
To clarify!
Vessel is a multi-instrumentalist. All songs are written between vessel and the drummer (the only other “official” member of Sleep Token)
Vessel also was in fact in a band prior to Sleep Token. That information is easy to obtain via a simple Google search, but I would urge you to avoid that if you want to hold on to the illusion of anonymity and the character that is Vessel.
Sufficed to say, Sleep Token is the brain child of a seasoned singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist.
There is a lot of mystery to it all, but there’s no coincidences when it comes to the choices made instrumentally and how they compliment Vessels voice. This is all done mathematically. One large equation.
I actually appreciate musicians who hide their personal identity to separate their professional life from their personal one. It's a sign they're not narcissistic.
I'm also a fan of a J-Rock Band by the name of "Man With A Mission". All the members wear wolf masks!

When I heard Vessel for the first time, I actually thought that his voice sounded like he had sang in a catholic church boy choir for many years. Or even gospel. With those long and open vowels, crescendos, and falsetto capability. I love it. When I heard Dark Signs for the first time, it gave me goosebumps, and I played it over and over again.

Just him alone with his acoustic guitar, and it was absolutely surreal to witness an artist from my childhood covering a song for a band I've quickly grown to adore. What a powerful moment that was. Vessel has this incredible way of adding physical emotion to the words hes singing. Its magical. Im so glad hes getting so much more attention now and people are finally talking. Worship🙏
I know most people loved "The Summoning" more but "Chokehold", imo, is just so epic. His vocals and that build up....goosebumps everytime lol.

I just cannot understand how a 54 years old guy like me is going nuts over Sleep Token like I was a kid back way back then with many bands. The notification goes off on UA-cam and I lose my mind hahahahaha they are the best ever. All this since Jan. I turned a few friends into them and they are all the same. You start digging and boom listen to all their songs. But Vessel is something else. Lyrics, musicality, the lore, the visuals. It’s out of this world.

43 years old here, and I feel the same. Never heard of these guys before january when they released this song, and I cannot wait for this album to drop. Their music somehow scratches the same itch Tool does for me, although their music is very different. I simply can't explain.
Being in your 40-50's means you've been exposed to some amazing music in your lifetime, which a lot of today's music standards can't satisfy. Apart from excellent production and engineering, I think your ears are appreciating the fact that they (all Vessel's) are extremely talented in their craft.
Same. For me, the way I've been pulled into Sleep Token and grown my appreciation for them is second only to that of discovering Rush 2112 (and Rush in general). The lyrics, progressions, and musicality are far beyond most artists today.
I’m 33 fan of Hardcore and Metal… ignored Sleep Token cause I thought they were just another gimmick band like Ghost lol but man I was wrong! Will’s energy and passion made me check them out and now I’m obsessed!
I love that rhythm and time signatures keep coming up in these analyses. Vessel is certainly an otherworldly talent, but their drummer is world class insane too, and plays such a key role driving Sleep Token songs

I love the drumming, and don't want to downplay it when I say this:
Every single instrument in these songs is played to the degree that it needs to be. When one element is the focus, the rest pull back. Vessel isn't just a vocalist, he's an instrument that gets the spotlight because his voice deserves it. It's so intentional, precise, and skillful.
It's part of the reason three people can sit back and analyze the vocals of one song for 30 minutes while simultaneously giving the impression that they're doing their best not to linger for too long.
I also think with the way Vessel is exhaling on the end of the notes it almost makes you feel like he is out of air or having trouble breathing like he's in a chokehold. Brilliant and beautfil track mixing and layering of elements in this song with the superb vocals.
I understand the interpretation and would agree, if it wasn't for the fact he has the same style in almost every song
Sleep Token songs continue to snowball with no end in sight of how big they getting. Vessel voice is a rare anomaly.
Could it be that Will is the most wholesome adult human being on planet Earth?
His nerdy enthusiasm and overall high spirit are infectious.
And Elizabeth (rightfully) giddily nerding out over every detail of Vessel's style is both enlightening and absolutely adorable.

Man Elizabeth is clearly an expert of her craft cuz damn the fact how she just knows EXACTLY what Vessel is doing with his voice and phonation and stuff to create these notes and sounds is impressive.
I really love the way Elizabeth feels the music, you can see her brain ticking and amalysing every single second, she is just brilliant, and will is so sweet, great friendship they have and great video.

That informative and nice tone of Ramos reminded me of a funny situation Ive seen in Warsaw. After Tesseract concert I was talking to technitians of Tesseract and there Will comes trying to get to backstage. Security rather agressively stopped him thinking he was a fan. "Im from the crew". "What crew" "Lorna Shore". "Yeah yeah. Show me your id". And he did. With no swearing or annyoance. I was not expecting such a gentle reaction from a voice like that :D cheers Will.

If I had to pick one song from Take Me Back to Eden that really showcases Vessel's voice, it's this track. He does so many things in this song that any trained singer can really appreciate, beyond just "HE SOUNDS AMAZING!!!!"
As a metalhead English teacher who's been particularly engaged with both language pronunciation and diction along with vocal technical terms, I pretty much enjoyed this analysis. So many instances of eargasm were going on as well.

I have noticed, Elizabeth "Butterflies" her eyes whenever she feels intense emotion in music, at least the more romantic intense emotion.
I'm not really into laura shore even though I really respect them, but I love how Will, a leading singer in his genre, has now spent hours dissecting Sleep Token songs.
Shows both how good Sleep Token are, but also how good Will's craft is to constantly learn from others in areas he's not as skilled yet.

I think one of the reasons I love Vessel’s voice so much is cause reminds me of how Peter Steele from Type o Negative would accent some words in his softer passages…especially like in Black No. 1 and Love You to Death.

I think what makes his vocals so hauntingly amazing is their realness. It's just in him and he channels it through his voice. But there's another thing I realized: The whole, "cultiness" some say, world building, as I would put it, around this band, that is centered about a very faith filled setting, is a quality that can actually amplify his emotions. As he is himself in his words, but also Vessel, this follower of a deity, entangled in all these emotional entanglements. Emotional amplification through a character that feels it even more than he does himself.
But that's just a perspective I have. And thought might be interesting. No guarantees if this is actually the case. Just something I could imagine working.
There's nothing I love more than seeing a room full of people as amazed by sleep token as I am. I'm so glad they're getting this level of attention. They deserve every bit of it.
