    Apple's redesigned MacBook Pro released in 2016 ditched all of the ports in favor of USB-C and Thunderbolt 3. The decision bothered many as did the Touch Bar-an accessory deemed too expensive and insubstantial to warrant a price hike-but the keyboard has remained the worst single problem with Apple's worst laptop lineup in decades. Reliability of the butterfly switch has been dismal at best and has soured the reputation of a once great laptop lineup. Can the new 8-core i9 CPU save MacBook Pro? No. But it fixes a lot of issues the prior models have had. That said... you should just wait for the new rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro with MicroLED display.

      It's OK though, Macbook Pros have never been called "laptops" by Apple because they would in fact sear your legs if used in that position. An egg needs to reach only about 158F to become firm, so the underside of a typical MacBook Pro can be used to make a perfect omelet whilst you use it to scroll through Kijiji in search of a more human-friendly device. If you were to wear, say, polyester fabric and mistake the mBP for a "laptop" prepare to have the upper portion of each leg surgically removed as modern medicine attempts to separate the two melded hydro carbons. There's an app called Macs Fan Control that I highly recommend; just set it to the High setting (permanently). You can also carry a large heat sink in your "laptop" bag to help dissipate the heat. The wing of an antique aircraft works well if you have access to a aerospace graveyard. Water cooling is also a fine idea, though this may generate considerable steam (beware if you use glasses).

      Apple hasn’t been “upgrading” old keyboards brought in for warranty repair with the redesigned switches if that’s what you’re wondering. They’re fixing your old shit and hoping that you’ll take care of it. When that keyboard breaks again after the 4 year program is over you are left without lube and in the assumed position to buy the new shit and shut up.

    • @schwarziex3563
      @schwarziex3563 5 років тому +1

      @@mikaels-p6765 that is very unlikely. The whole keyboard is one sealed unit that is actually RIVETED into the topcover which warrants either the complete replacement of the top cover or you need to rip it out, thread the wholes and screw in a replacement. I can guarantee you that this will be far more expensive due to labor so they will "simply" switch the topcover.

    I had the 2018 MBP 15" i9 and had crazy throttling issues. Tried TG Kryonaut, not much difference, tried TG Conductonaut, little better but still into high 90s. That laptop cost me £3500. Sold it and bought a Gigabyte Aero 15x that has a stunning 4k Pantone Calibrated screen for £1850, which has an i7 8750h, 16GB Ram, 500gb SSD, RGB keyboard etc. Upgraded the ram to 32GB, added another 1tb SSD as it has a spare slot and it never goes above 85 degrees and that's at 3.7ghz, full pelt. So I have a 15" 4k i7 8750h, 32gb ram, 1.5tb SSD and 95wh battery (9hrs browsing, 4ish heavy work) for a grand total of £2090. Virtually identical weight, better real usage battery life, way better screen, upgradeable ram, storage, battery etc. Apple has lost its way and I will never buy an overpriced arrogance project from them again. They think that they know best. They solder the ram on as they know that if you need 3wgb ram you have no choice but to buy it from them. I upgraded my ram for a grand total of £81. The 1tb Samsung 970 Evo was £160 on offer. That's a hell of a lot less than Apple. Want a decent modern laptop without being a slave to Apple's greed. Buy a Windows Laptop such as mine.

      I have been using a 2014 macbook pro 15 inch i7 still works well only issue I've had recently is performance took a dive but turns out the reason why is because my battery needs to be replaced and apple slows performance when the battery goes bad luckily the full replacement is only $200 that includes the labor. Not a bad deal in my book as I will probably be able to use it for another 2-3 years.

    I dont get it. 1mm extra in hight would double the heatsink size, maybe fix the keyboard, and leave place for more outputs like LAN and displayports.
    I would choice a normal sized workstation Lenovo, Dell or HP labtop any day and for half the price.

      you're absolutely right, but they tend to stick with a design for years to recover their production/r&d costs (engineering etc.). I think they already realised they messed up (hence the "generous" repair programme) but they'll stick to this horrible design for some more nevertheless, because it is "cost-effective" to do so. Except it damages their reputation big time, but this is something you don't compute.

    I’m so frustrated with our favorite fruit company. I currently own the most recent addition iPad Pro 12.9 as well as a much older (like 2010) 24 inch iMac with a maxed out 12g I7. I would like to be able to video edit in Premiere ultimately on a MacBook Pro. (Btw, the current version of Premiere does not jive with my iMac. It needs at least 16g etc to run).
    Should I purchase an older MBPro now and edit on it until the next major MacBook touches down in a year? Or buy a one of the new current ones?
    Thankyou Thankyou 👍🏼
