It's genuinely one of the best weapons in the game for general PvE! Dogs will never bother you again, and it's incredibly fun to bully annoying tough enemies like cleanrot knights. It may not be great against bosses, and it may be bad for PvP, but few other weapons have given me more joy than Godfrey's axe for general exploration/dungeon crawling.
@@RabidCupcake2010I've had it do pretty well against bosses while i help people i have no issues with it at all i like how it looks it has a cool ash of war and who wouldnt want to use the first lords axe
@@RabidCupcake2010 I love Axe of Godfrey with Highland axe offhand, roar medallion, and axe talisman for running around the open world. I do find myself changing to Fallingstar Beast Jaw for bosses a lot though.
@@hrtzz_undrskor I wouldn't say so, you got to try invading to realize how bad it usually is lol. Ganking in ER is inherently more toxic and way more stacked in the hosts favor than it was in any other souls game. Host gets access to godrick's great rune for 40 free levels, more flasks, and can endlessly summon phantoms that are guaranteed to be higher or equal level to the invader. And of course they are usually moonveil spamming mages like the one in the video, perfect for constantly forcing you to roll into their phantoms attacks by spamming stars of ruin and moonveil.
Bruh claws can be NASTY if you know what to do with them. You're right about the scythes though. Phantom slash or whirlwind stomp on the reapers scythe is just too good.
I made a bloodhound knight build that focused on switching between a hyper aggressive and hit and run play style mid combat, messing with my enemy by using the claw and fang
love this channel, information on what is good in pvp without watching 2 hours of invasions is so hard to come by, also showcases of weapons in colosseums is nearly impossible to find
The Convergence makes the Dragon Greatclaw like it should be with red lightning infused heavy charge attacks, and the ash of war calls down red lightning strikes in an aoe.
Fun fact, Stamp sweep has a frame trap after a crouch r1. It’s best used on colossal swords, the GUGS in particular due to the crouch poke’s short recovery and long range. Only way to really avoid the frame trap is to be at the very tip of the sword’s range
almost any colossal sword has the same crouch attack but the zweihander could also work but as you said the gugs would make a great candidate for stamp sweep because of its hitbox
@@nutsnut it would be your next best option since it’s the second longest. When it comes to colossal swords, as a rule if you cant use the GUGS, Zweihander or nothing
I remember doing an initial playthrough and going through the Haligtree, and something weird happened in which I killed both of the Rotten Avatars and they both dropped the Rotten Staff, so I ended getting up two Rotten Staffs in one playthrough. It was the first time I had this happen and I was super confused lol.
The fact u can cancel ghiza's wheel L2 attack with a heavy attack makes it my favorite. Nothing feels as satisfying as someone rushing at you thinking you made a mistake to just mash... grind? em into paste
As a PvE player, i must protect the Dragon GreatClaw. Yes, endure is Disappointing, but the Dex scaling increases the Lighting Damage and it deals 30% more dmg against Dragons and 15% more against "Ancient Dragons", so it is: -A great Quality Weapon -A great Dragon killer -A great Disappointment
8:05 Im not sure if anyone noticed but when monk was fighting "The legend" , His avatar looks like the armored warrior from sekiro especially with the greatsword
7:24 blood flame blade's fire damage is the only thing that scales, and it only scales off the faith portion of the seal. So the clawmark seal is un-optimal.
My first playthrough I wanted to try a pure melee build to see what it was like and Bloodhound's Fang carried me most the game, but I had also found the Watchdogs Staff and those projectiles finally gave me a way to do ranged attacks. I was so thankful because I didn't realize what I was getting into trying to do only melee for my first-ever souls playthrough lol
NOW THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT WE BE TALKIN ABOUT Seriously though, I have always loved all the big weapons in souls-like games. There's something so satisfying about hitting the big bonk...
Regarding what you said about always 2 handing colossals, I actually encountered someone playing powerstanced prelate’s at 125, and it was harder to deal with than I thought. Literally his only strategy was to run up and crouch L2, but it was frankly harder to get a hit on without taking the most miserable trade of your life compared to your bog standard halberd/offstoc nerd.
Fallingstar Beast Jaw is absolutely my favourite. One important thing you forgot to mention is that it does pierce damage, so due to the counterattack mechanic, you will never be losing trades with that thing. It also has either the highest or second highest range of all the colossals. 10/10 weapon. This is my go to for heal spammers in the arena
The great club also has a unique heavy attack overhead slam where you put your whole body into it, very caveman like which is perfect for the ultimate bonk stick. It actually comes out pretty fast uncharged, nice for catching people with in pvp.
Dragon Greatclaw needs something like Ancient Lightning Strike or something along those lines and the Dragonclaw Shield needs to be able to do those multi lightning strikes, maybe have its skill be a guarding stance where a light calls down the direct strikes and a heavy calls does the aoe strikes
interestingly, the golem's halberd comes with CHARGE FORTH when uninfused, but can't be GIVEN charge forth, forcing you to not infuse it if you want to utilize this extremely fun and strong idea
The occult giant crusher actually has higher AR than heavy, rocking one as an optional weapon on my strength/arcane build. Was almost able to oneshot offnir with VERY little setup. I think i literally just used the physick, meat and RKR... may have used banner, but i dont remember.
my first playthrough i powerstanced golem halberds and couldn't wear armor until about lvl 100 because the weight of both halberds together was around 44 or something lmao
Actually there is a way to increase the rot build up on the rotten great axe and you did it bleed affinity adds arcane scaling and investing In arcane will get more rot and bleed build up Also every colossal weapon has access to the warcry and braggarts roar R2 to R1 true combo
Sadly isn't true, arcane doesn't increase rot build BUT the heavy attack from the combo you're talking about gets a status mv of 300 when you fully charge it. So you can proc rot in one hit sometimes but only from the fully charged heavy, works on pve not pvp :/
Weapons I'd change if I could.... -Dragon Greatclaw: L2 raise weapon in air for 2 seconds while Red Lightning charges up then slam down on the ground creating red lightning in a cone area in front of you like the Ice Lightning AOW. The weapon gets a buff from the Red Lightning for 30secs after. -Rotton Avatar Staff: Erdtree Slam does Rot damage and flings Rot out around you within the circle shown and stays on ground for 2-3 seconds.
I hear a lot of people talking about how Axe of Godfrey isn't good, and I think those people just aren't good at timing. I do better with that one weapon than I do with any other weapon in the game.
Its about the best colossal right now, but thats not saying much. Ive used colossals since before the massive buff theyve gotten, and tbh theyre still in need of love.
Man, you weren't even using Ghiza's Wheel the right way -- the 1h R2-1 is *_FAR_* better than the 2h one -- so that just shows how nasty the R2s can be in the right hands.
Axe of godfrey the best by far by using alone two handed. Omega just upload a video of giant crusher + dagger that is seriously competitive vs meta set ups
The colossal weapons don't have light attacks. They have Heavy Attacks and Heavier Attacks
Nah they have heavy attacks and the fuck you attacks
The crouch attacks are the light attacks
I mean, he's right though
Sums it up well
Heavy attacks and colossal attacks
