The Celebrants Sicke has a unique property that 50% of your damage goes through guard (same as the Shotel) and it also gets applied to ranged ashes like Storm Blade.
Daggers are consistently the best at not being daggers. I'm serious. Glintstone Kris is best at shooting spells, Black Knife is best for destined death, Cinquedia is the best for bestial incants, Reduvia and Blood-stained dagger is best for bleed, and the rest are the best at being redundant.
Offhand daggers are pretty good but only if your in the flow state Because against bosses it just opens up your ability to keep on hitting Artacking from neutral is almost nvr worth but daggers have so little recovery you can attack basically whenever you want
one of the neat things about the wakizashi is that it gains a hidden damage bonus when powerstanced with a main-hand katana, which brings it up to roughly equivalent to a basic uchigatana in damage.
Ok there’s too many people being nice to the wakizashi down here. It’s SHORT. I don’t care how much stamina I use or how much faster the animation is if I miss ever other hit with it. Just wanted to make sure the bases were covered.
Fun facts! The only weapon with higher S scaling dex is the keen Urumi. Shoulda gone lightning affinity on the Misericorde, though. Lightning Strike for the extra ohko riposte potential. The Great Knife has A scaling dex with keen and A scaling arcane with occult, making it good for either stat spread. The Reduvia outperforms it on occult builds, though, in spite of its B scaling in arcane. Good to use in the offhand if you want a parry dagger, though. Nice to see that the Black Knife has higher dex scaling than faith, and still has that double hitting R2. I'll have to try that one again sometime.
The only reason why the ivory sickle and crystal knife aren't infuseble is I think the same reason why the crystal spear and sword aren't, innate INT scaling weapons are terrifyingly op when used with ashes of war like glintstone pebble or ice spear, take the clayman's harpoon for example, it's stats are mid at best but put one of those ashes of war on it with a magic or cold infusion and suddenly you're nuking shit
Just so you know, the Blade of Calling and Blade of Death weapon skills don’t get Hyper Armor, but instead fall under another system called Super Armor. Hyperarmor is a modification of the poise system and heavily relies on the amount of poise you have, whereas Superarmor is complete immunity from certain levels of stun! Which means that you can do some funny shenanigans with attacking through the boom from the Ruptured Tear flask!
oh, the great knife is really fun, occult paired with reduvia and parry makes it quite scarry also, pretty sure that misericord crit would have killed that guy with the dagger talisman xD also also, Glintstone Kris is so good on a mage build, particularly with alexander and godfrey talismans, and spellblade set, the charged dart hits like a truck
I always wished sanguine nobles could drop a reduvia so that you could dual wield them without going into NG+, not sure if it would actually be necessary but it sounds fun
Celebrant's Sickles are actually amazing. I'm pretty sure they're solely responsible for the low drop rate of the celebrant weapons else if you could get two of these early in a playthrough they would completely outclass the rune scarab.
Interesting fact about the Cinquedea: in Elden Ring is in the dagger category but it's actually an italian medieval short sword. As for my favourite dagger it's the Black Knife
Back step attacks are the best attacks in daggers arsenal. Long range fast, piercing damage. Unfortunately you can't use it from neutral. If we could it would be so good.
Yeah, around the same as flame art straight swords. If you have 80 faith with ritual sword talisman, scorpion charm (pls don't use it in PvP!), Golden Vow, Flame Grant Me Strength and the fire physic that's enough to break 1000AR.
I love using an Assassin Build with Daggers, something just so fun about sneaking around and stabbing dudes in the back or parrying them for that juicy crit, but then when those aren't an option, it's time for the Blender! One really good setup is dual Great Knives one with Cold and the other with Fire, it keeps its Bleed build-up with both so if they don't die from the physical damage they're gonna die from either the cold constantly triggering and being removed by the fire, or the hemorrhage from the bleed build-up.
The good thing about farming the Great Knife or the Bloodstained Dagger is that you’re probably running an Arcane build anyway. But I‘ll be honest, no Dagger ever felt as good to me on that setup as a Bleed Antspur. Oh, and here’s to From giving all non-infusable weapons a unique Ash of War in the DLC. The Crystal Knife for example is described as a Knife used for mining… Shatter Earth Ash of War, baby! It’ll surely happen, right? Right?
Cinquedea is my favorite dagger because it looks more like a sword than the other daggers, has good Strength scaling, and combos well with Strength/Faith builds that use a larger weapon in their right hand. It lets them switch out to a smaller, faster weapon to use alongside the Bestial incantations just in case they come across someone they have a hard time hitting. Good utility, no extra attribute requirements to stop you from using it early on in the game, just a very solid dagger choice overall.
Blade of Death doesn't necessarily go through i-frames, it just triggers the effect on phantom hits when your connection is latent. Pretty much any kind of auxiliary effect (like black flame) apply on phantom hits, as well as status as you almost certainly know.
@@monkwashereyes, but Executioner's has higher ar (forget the motion values, i misremembered something else) There is a pretty extensive video talking about that other weapon.
@monkwashere there's always alot of math in damage calculations. But in short, the Executioners Great Axe has so much base damage that the lower critical rating doesn't even matter.
really? I've heard a lot of different opinions over the year, but people always said misericorde is the absolute best for crit dmg, no matter the affinity. could you please provide calculations for this?
The nice thing about daggers being easily countered by longer reach weapons is that they are light so you can have a dagger in one slot and a longer reach weapon in another, or go long weapon with offhand dagger for mix ups.
There is 7 category left to examine they are :Thrusting swords,Heavy thrusting swords,Hammers,Great hammers,Reapers,Claws and Spears(i didn't mention 10 other category which is 3 Bows category,Crossbows,Ballistas,Glintstone staffs,Sacred seals,Torchs and Tools that have 4 damaging item(Wraith calling bell,Omen bairn,Regal omen bairn,Ancestral infant's head) and there is shileds too if you count
Crystal knife and that other weird one aren't meant to be built around. They are only there to be a better option than any infusable dagger on a specific stat spread.
Great to see that the update for poise damage has made most weapon classes usable. Before that, axes and daggers were borderline useless, but now they’re actually fun.
@ 25:33 I've never considered pronouncing Bestial Sanctum anything else other than Beast-i-al Sanctum, until your pronounciation as Best-i-al Sanctum, at which point, my internet mind rot sets in, and I agree, cannonically speaking, with Mariketh being Marika's Shadow, for better or worse, by the greater wills whims and objectives, he still is the Bestest Boy.
The thing with the Misericorde is that even though it has a 140 crit rating, it's actually the Executioners axe that comes out with the highest overall crit damage in the game because if it's 115 crit rating and the fact that it's a Greataxe- which obviously means that it does waaaaaayy more damage than a dagger would. At least this is what I had got from my own testing, so maybe do take it with a grain of salt
But glintstone kris is one of my all time FAVORITE weapons in all of elden ring, let alone its WONDERFULLY beautiful design and sheath. Like to wield one in my right hand while wielding the golden order greatsword in my left.
Honestly, I love the speed of powerstancing daggers, but the range is to short for me to use them. I get that they have to have short range to be balanced (otherwise, even with the range of straight swords, they be the most overpowered class in the game), but that just makes me look to other weapon classes. They are very fun, but not as good as other classes.
Really awesome vid. I gotta say though, I am confused by how many people mispronounce Nerijus. The game literally spawns an NPC assistant that says the name a few seconds after he shows up.
IMHO, it's rather inflexible that the parry type Ashes of War cannot be infused into daggers, especially since some of the most lackluster daggers featuring curved blades, would seem more exceptionally functional for parrying?!
