Great video. I just tried texturing with alpha stamps for the first time and it didn't go well (in my mind, it made sense just to turn dyntopo on, and let Nomad place resolution where it was needed to give me the shapes). This video showed me how to actually do it right, and it gave me lots of ideas for other things I can try as well.
We desperately need snapping settings on Nomad to place things more precisely and centering cameras to specific objects, that would make the height map to stamp process so much smoother.
At the 8:17 mark what tool are you using that allows you to switch between eclipse and circle? I assume things have changed in procreate since this video was posted.
I LOVED this. im currently working on a project where I wanted a "scale mail" texture around the lower torso and legs of a character and have had to individually place the parts using either clone or insert and it was suuuuper tedious. Nomad apparently can't wrap stamps around a curved object without stretching, as you showed yet. I don't use any other sculpting program so maybe it just can't be done anywhere possibly. anyway, I loved the idea of tiling. one of your strokes around the 11:00 mark or so had tiling, but when you put another stroke next to it, it didn't line up. thats also something I wish there was a work around for. I'll have to play around with patterns. ive never done them! thanks for your amazing tutorial!
Cheers Kyle! Yeah tiles in Nomad require a lot of work and manual fixing. The tiling brush on one axis is usually the best bet to avoid deformation but like you said, the stroke won't line up naturally. I'd leave a gap between those and work by hand that area. Not idea but for now the only option I can think of. Anyway, thanks for the nice comment!
I thank you for this so much! I’ve been looking for a way to generate height maps off of models for use in cnc software and this was exactly what I needed to see.
Thank you! I know there's lots of information. If there's anything you'd like to have as a separate tutorial to make it more accessible, please let me know :)
Bit depth won't affect an alpha image for this purpose - resolution is the more important factor. Bit depth is important if you need very smooth gradients of value but for this fidelity you'd be looking at film production quality not real-time or game rendering. - Michael
You can recording the ipad screen with the device alone which is the easiest. I use my PC with OBS so I have more things on screen and to mirror the iPad on my PC I recommend Apowermirror :)
Flawless tutorial! No senseless talking around, just the information needed. Very sympathetic voice as well!
Ah cheers mate! I really appreciate your kind words :)

I've already seen an other tutorial of this tool but nothing explained this well. Love u
You are too kind! There's lots of great tips that I am sure other people cover and I missed so it's always worth looking at multiple tuts :D
This was an absolutely fantastic tutorial. Thank you

You just made my work a lot easier ☺️ thanks 😊😊😊
Could you please tell me how you center the brush, centered on the object ?😅
I’m having problems with imported shapes for alphas, when I extrude, I get really jagged/blocky edges no matter how dense the mesh
Great video!

You are amazing & these videos have helped me so much creating a lifelong dream come true! 😊❤

Yay I am happy to hear it was helpful :)
This is very cool! Thank you!
Thank you for watching :)
Hi, you did great job of alpha, but can you tell me more about the hair alpha you made? Thanks!
Can I also get your brushes on patroon?
Hay un canal en español o el vídeo traducido al español? Necesito 🥺❤️
I've learned alot from you thanks for dropping nuggets. You are way more advanced lol but the tips I can follow has helped 100%
Thank you! I know there's lots of information. If there's anything you'd like to have as a separate tutorial to make it more accessible, please let me know :)
Are the pixelated alphas with banding because it’s only an 8-bit image instead of 16-bit?

Wonderful. Anyway how do you turn 2 d picture into 3 d sculpture?

You are the ALPHA FEMALE of Nomadland. ✊🍷🎩🎩🎩
Amazing, do you have any tip to avoid those “pixelated” edges on some alphas?
I'd edit them in Procreate and test in Nomad until I get the result I want :)
Usually applying the Gaussan Blur does the trick for me.
@@SmallRobotStudio never thought about blur 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 i def will try it! Thanks a lot, I use them a lot so this will totally help me out
Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Eres excelente con tus tutoriales, ojala pudieras hacer uno de alphas en español, sería genial, saludos!!
Que amable eres! Mil gracias por el apoyo
