This is really cool! Thanks, your videos are really helpful. I was hoping to do some bas relief style stuff when I started nomad recently this gives me some really cool ideas.
I wanted to say thank you for all of your videos so I find them very helpful and you’re one of the only creators I follow for this kind of content so I appreciate you relaying this information in a way that we could use it
Awesome new tool from Nomad. Thanks for the excellent walkthrough. I was a little surprised at how badly that online tool did with the depth mapping. It’s amazing that it can do what it does, but I was really surprised with your second example, the ornament. Why did it hallucinate so much depth to that black background. It’s so clever about everything else, doing better than I could have done to translate the pictures into depth maps… but even I could tell that black background should have been a uniform zero depth. Huh.
I think the AI of these depth estimation tools like Depth Anything V2 or Marigold is trained on photos of people and everyday things - so for photo depth maps. I think the AI would need a specially trained dataset for perfect depth maps for 3D objects - which will hopefully come at some point.
@@mikekiske You really think a WEB DEMO without registration / login that can't export is a deal breaker for a one time 20$ app ? Too bad, but I'm sure you can find free alternative apps / software, I recommend Blender on PC. Yes, I'm sorry about the German UI at Procreate, but I'm sure you can find other tutorials on this topic on UA-cam that are completely in English.
Hello, amazing video ! Thank you so much! One question though: is this method applicable to any photo ? If lets say i have a photo of my dog i turn it to gray scale in procreate and then follow your workflow ? Thabk you
how do you have so many different brushes with custom icons? is there a way to download or buy all these brushes? do they have to be custom made by me?
In fact, there are no new Brush Tools in Nomad Sculpt - they are all just regular Nomad Brushes with their own settings and icon and saved as a new tool. Anyone can make these brushes themselves. Some of these brushes are so good that I sell them on Esty. For other brushes like MY 😀 Round ALL Brush (Dave calls it round edge tool) there are how to videos on UA-cam. There are also free brushes for download in the forum.
I tested this method but found one problem in that it produces 8bit depth maps..those will give banding or layer lines in the extracted mesh. If you use a upgraded depth anything v2 script that provides a 16bit depth map you get absolutely perfect alphas that provide smooth results with no cleanup necessary..its a massive difference using the upgraded script
@@ProcreateFX unfortunately I dont think so..I dont have the knowledge to get one set up either..although im sure it isnt too hard. I will read up on it. I was unable to get the script to run using my macbook so im having to run the script on my pc..then edit the photos together in pixelmator on the macbook then send them to nomad (or zbrush)
@@ProcreateFX if you have a couple alphas youd like to send me and have me run through the script and email them back, let me know. I know its not ideal but its at least a way for you to see the difference and if you want to post a video about it. (although I imagine youd want to wait until a easier solution)
@@rtsstream Thank you for the offer. For me, the thing with this Depth estimation AI is not so important, and I don't really need the BAS Relief either. I'll keep an eye on developments and post another video when there's something new - possibly with a 16 BIT depthmap export 😀

That's amazing, now I can use my illustrations to create relief sculptures and 3d print them.
Из РОссии с огромным уважением!!
Great presentation, with incredible results. Looking forward to trying this out.
As ever. Dude you rock 🤘
Das Video ist mal wieder der Hammer (wie immer eigentlich) Vielen Dank dafür. Von dir kann man echt was lernen. Mach weiter so. 👍🏻
Thank you for sharing. Excellent tutorial

@@mikekiske What do you mean? Nomad Sculpt has been available to buy as an app for years.

Yes, it should work.
I guess you should use very high contrast photos to get good results - with little shadows... and even lighting.
@@ProcreateFX ok will try it. Thank you once again

at 13:59 how to cut the background out !!!!????where did you tap??

@@ProcreateFX found a bunch on the facebook group..thanks!
THERES A WEB DEMO?! is this a thing we can use regularly? if we have the app do we have access to web version?
Everyone has access to the web demo.
This web version is there to test the latest features - but you cannot save / export.
@@ProcreateFX ok thanks for the info

Is there a space on Huggingface with Depth Anything V2 + 16 bit script that runs in the browser?
I need a version that works WITHOUT a PC.

I love these videos but I'm stuck on Android. Can anybody recommend a workable alternative to procreate?
works only in flats surfaces?
Of course, an Alpha also works on other surfaces.
