I saw some people commenting that the way you film it is a bit confusing but I just wanted to say that I personally find your way of explaining very relaxing and I find it helpful to see your errors to avoid them myself, thanks for your great work!!
this character is absolutely Primo. Would happily put a print of it on the shelf. All the best with your 3D printing journey, it's so fun to have access to this stuff now.
if your key is like 20mm by 20mm make it 20.02mm by 20.02 bullion cut it out the body and make sure you copy it first then reset the key to 20mm and print.its nice to see a complete beginner come so far in a couple of weeks Dave mate well done
Thanks for sharing your 3D printing journey, Dave! I also got into 3D printing very recently, like 2 weeks ago haha. I want to print my own models, but oh man it's very hard to get it right! I have been getting so many failures. It'd be interesting to see how you prepare your 3D models for printing, like adding supports and hollows. Supports is definitely the most hard for me 🥲
Which slicer do you use? I use lychee and I use the auto supports. I add holes and hollow, but firstly my issue was my leveling of the build plate. I hadn’t pressed it firmly against the screen and set that as home. Once I did that things started working! I’ll do a video showing my process soon 👍🏾
@@drugfreedave I used lychee and auto supports too and I could only get one decent result when I added my own supports. I also did some voxel merging on nomad this time and leveled again, so that might have helped too. Yesterday I tested some pre-supported models on chitubox and they came out pretty much perfect. Maybe my Creality LD-006 printer has better compatibility with chitu? idk, gonna try hollowing my own models this time.
Yeah it’s hard to know exactly what the issue is with these things. I got some great help via the Facebook printer groups. I’m in a general group and one for my brand printer. I posted videos of what I was doing that didn’t work which make it easy for more experienced folks to see what I did wrong. Lots of resources in the fb groups! 👍🏾💯
Hi Dave, your videos are great man. Is there any way you can make a video to show how to do this but with things that are not on a flat surface and odd shaped? for instance a smile cut out of a face that can be printed on its own and pressed in. I cant figure out a way to make the tolerance work.
I have a newer key and cut video, check that out and the Boolean video. I’m not too sure exactly what you’re wanting to do, but maybe those might help!
They do print fairly smooth as is, but the supports do leave marks in the back or bottom: pretty sure I printed with the supports on the bottom! I airbrushed the paint too which in my opinion is the smoothest finish!
Dude, you are all over the place. Really good tutorial if you'd edit out all of the sidetracking. Some of that is ok in terms of sharing thought process, but too much gets frustrating and the person who is trying to learn this software starts to forget what we're doing. I know most of this and I'm getting confused.
@@drugfreedave I mean, you're doing this for free, so who can really complain, but a little editing would really make this awesome. You've got a great, calm, style and you are clearly VERY knowledgeable.
Go find a 5 minute video then. So much more goes into this than some quick fix. Better yet make your own videos and stop complaining on videos where people are helping other people for free.

Agreed
I feel its what made me like the videos, seeing him figure it out makes me get it easier.
OMggg... im new in the nomad sculpt and I was looking for this method ages .!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH DAVE !!!! u MADE my DAY !!!!

I have not found how to sculpt with measurements. I have to make it and then measure after.

The end result is 100% satisfying!! I was scared when you voxel remeshed at 700, my iPad would crash forsure 😆
love this! awesome!!!
Great tool to show, thank you
Sorry, he is super nice to provide these in depth videos.
But i am falling in sleep listening to that guy! 🤷♂️🙈😂
A little nap never hurt! 🤗

🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉thank you so much for this walkthrough
Merci pour ce magnifique tuto.
This is amazing. Thank you!
Thank you!! 😄

For me I pretty much always make a hexagon. Let’s say in this case the head could even be placed sideways or backwards.
Do you do any adjustments to the polygonal count of the keys, and do you also check on "keep sharp edges" when doing the voxel merge?
You are doing God's work. I'm not even religious 😂
If you have multiple cuts do you remedy each individually or all at once?
I don’t quite understand what you mean? Like make all the cuts at once? You could, as long as everything is set perfectly
How’d you get the printed white guy so freaking smooth?!
Oh wait- is that a casting made from a print?
They do print fairly smooth as is, but the supports do leave marks in the back or bottom: pretty sure I printed with the supports on the bottom! I airbrushed the paint too which in my opinion is the smoothest finish!
I've never done the casting thing, another can of worms that'll stay closed for now!
Resin printing
......you can print stuff without voxel merging????
When I export as an stl, it just exports whatever meshes I have selected, whether they are merged or not! 👍🏾

wich app is this
I’m using Nomad Sculpt on iPad Pro 2022 👍🏾
Dave, this is not the time to be trying to figure things out or edit the video and cut out all the guessing.

Personally found this a bit confusing and long. I would benefit more from a more concise video just explaining the steps.
I’m actually learning too. All of this stuff is new to me. Especially back then
