Emi, this was a really good expectations video. I really appreciate it. It's too bad that theft happens at the shows. I'm sure it also happens at collectible watch gatherings and similar events
Something I found out during a pen meeting, that you should not do without asking: post someone elses pen. I did that and the owner wasn't happy. No harm done to the pen and they were very kind when I apologised and explained I'm a newbie. I still feel embarrassed though.
Yes some people have different memories tied up in pens and they dont want such things to happen ... with me on the other hand, im so happy to see people interested in the story behind my pens and to share them everywhere
Hey there Inge :D just yesterday I booked the hotel and tickets :D coming with mom :D its the first time she will see my passion so this will be a wonderful time and experience for me as well :D the only thing is she doesnt speak English so it will be a lot of talking with her hands :)) nevertheless fun
So when u were talking about prices of the pens, and haggling, are pens priced higher at pen shows? Are the pens ‘regular’ prices, or lower? Is trying to get a semi lower price frowned on, or is that ok?
Usually prices are slightly under the retail value but some people come and simply start the conversation about pricing and go something like “will you take half for it?!” This is what I was referring to … other than this is all a fun experience on both sides
I’ve never been to a pen show, and this was so helpful! Hopefully I’ll be able to go to my local pen show this Fall!🤗
We've just got back from the Dutch Pen Show - it was awesome :D I would say probably is the best way to have fun and to meet wonderful people :D

Great advice. I have a table at the San Francisco show and I teach Urban Sketching using fountain pens. They are great for creating art!
