    I'm pretty much a Gravitas exclusive. I started drawing with ink last year. I tried a few cheap pens like the Lamy Safari, then got a Faber Castell Ondoro in orange where I understood the night and day difference 100 Euros / USD make when it comes to the feeling of a pen. I then bought a Gravitas Entry, then a titanium Sentry (with a flex nib in addition). These pens are just out of this world, they designed and engineered so well. I'm about the get something like 4 Gravitas pens, and I'm gonna use all of them. Thank lord I found Gravitas quick, so I don't have to go through the waste of time and money that some even call a "fountain pen journey" :D

      :D hehe .... you are stepping on a very fun path :D I do recommend to a lot of clients to first think about the use and what happens after the "purchase and delivery" moment, if you take it from that point is more easy to find what would fit better, Gravitas makes some of the most carry-able pens and if you start to understand the philosophy and the design and the use of materials ... it opens up a whole new meaning for are the limitations of our hobby :D

      Yeah, sometimes u have to wait quiet a bit to receive the pens, and e-mails aren't really getting replied either. But the person designing and making these outstanding, and more than fairly priced pens has an insane talent. There should be a trade-off somewhere.

    Knipex smooth jaw parallel pliers would be a good option for the vac piston rod removal as the jaws won't be angled when applying force to the flat portion. Jeweler's pliers also have smooth jaws and might be another option too.

    07:18 I have read that it's not a good idea to disassemble nib and feeder like this often as it makes the nib assembly looser and more prone to leaking. Do you agree with this?

    • @pen.venture
      @pen.venture  4 місяці тому +1

      yes in theory - please define first what it means often, because I do this maybe once every 2 or 3 months or so for the past 8 months and its ok, I consider this personally an often operation since on some other pens I do this maybe once a year or once every 2 years. Some may take apart this pen 3 times a day and say its "often" .... as long as we dont define what often means its irrelevant, but yes it can get loose in time

    • @user-el3rk6os3p
      @user-el3rk6os3p 4 місяці тому +1

      @@pen.venture thanks good question on “often”. I was thinking once per week or every time when changing ink colors is “often”.

    • @pen.venture
      @pen.venture  4 місяці тому

      well in this case ... I would say a hard NO on that... its just going to become loose... taking the nib out is a more serious process and shouldn't be just daily popped out, if its a threaded nib unit and you take the nibunit our ... maybe but keep in mind even that nib unit has small plastic threads and even that ... in time will get loose

    I have the copper pocket pen... it squeaks when i unscrew the cap. What can I apply to stop the squeaking? Squeaking is kinda annoying. Thank you

    • @pen.venture
      @pen.venture  6 місяців тому +1

      hmmmm regardless of the metal I think you must check if that squeak comes from the threads or the rubber o ring, just to be sure wipe with some degreasing agent the rubber o ring and if the problem persists maybe its from the threads and you can run your finger over your forehead to get some of that oils and then rub your threads with it

      Run a lead pencil through the threads. The graphite will help.

    Hi!
    Is there a clip that fits the gravitas model quark pocket pen up ultem?

    • @pen.venture

      there is no clips on any Gravitas pen available

    So, the sentry and entry can be eye droppers too?

    • @pen.venture
      @pen.venture  23 дні тому

      they can but they need some grease on the threads and it can have some metals that react with the ink - also eyedroppers come with the more sensitive results in flow which I personally dont like as much - who wants to trade the convertor for more ink volume but less of a performance - they can but there is a price to pay

    Emy , thank you for the video! Do you know any tricks on how to handle a leaking titanium nib with polymer feed? It seems to be a very loose fit in the housing and I don’t know how to fix it.

    • @pen.venture
      @pen.venture  6 місяців тому

      Thank you Nick for the feedback - after testing the titanium nib and polymer feed we decided to not include it in our line up and wait for a different version soon to come from Gravitas. Since you mentioned that its loose, I would be looking to get a new nibunit and just change the feeder and nib into a new housing maybe that can fix it

    Dear Emy, I bought a Quarks from Ben Walsh in Ultem. It works perfectly and I experienced th tight assembly of the nib as well compared to the other 5 Gravtas models I own. However the treaths are good when capping the pen but not catching correctly while posting. Can you please help me with that issue? Kind regards and many thanks in advance

    • @pen.venture
      @pen.venture  6 місяців тому

      Hey there :D Since the nature of the material and the very small thickness of the walls combined with the structure of the threads, I have noticed that the ultem quarks take more precision when capping or posting and they need both of the parts to be aligned for the threads to start catching - there is no help on this since I dont see how to improve it other than opting for a different material
