I'm deeply sorry to hear about your sons passing. Just know that he is in Gods loving arms right now. Probably playing guitar for my Mom. My Mom passed Jan 2010 from brain cancer. Life is so short and I love that you guys are living out something that you are truly passionate about. Music is amazing on so many levels. I agree with Kel , people used to say to me how can you listen to metal, nothing but banging, screaming and loud crap guitar. My response is how can you not listen to metal. Precision instrumentation, amazing vocals, harmonies, unreal timing. Truly talented musicians. Hold your son close to your heart and soul and keeping on exploring the world of metal. Big fan of you guys. Take care and God Bless.
Kel, thanks for opening up and sharing a piece of your past with us all. That was well said and so real and genuine. What I enjoy most about watching this channel is seeing how the music completely takes over you and moves you and how you are amazed from each song experience. That is what makes me look forward to the next reaction is to see you experience what most of us watching have already experienced ourselves in the past. Stay metal my friends 🤙🏼🤙🏼
I loved that Kel literally got so moved by Tender surrender that she closed her eyes for most of the song but I kept feeling she was missing out on so much by not watching Vai perform. Then she opened her eyes for the last couple minutes.... you guys take me on a journey! BTW I had the great fortune to see this tour :)
The really cool part is now that you have found your inner metal goddess you have so much at your fingertips to just devour. Such a great thing to be able to feel the music like you do. Not everyone can. Keep up the great reactions.
For the Love of God. Amazing song. A soulful experience of the many facets of life experiences and ultimately at one with God. At least my interpretation. Steve Vai may tell you something totally different. Just an opinion. Cheers

If you ever get the chance to see the "Generation Axe" tour with Steve Vai, Yngwie, Zakk Wylde, etc....GO!!! Very small, intamate, absolutely incredible show!!
Wow....just wow! Thanks for sharing this 'personal' journey Kel (& thanks Rich for encouraging this!) I'm sorry that musically, you were repressed prior to this - it brinks on cruelty! There is such a wonderful world of music, not just classical, not just metal, funk, psychedelic, prog, pop, electronic - with magic in all of it!! I can't truly tell you how many pieces of music can bring me to tears (yup, I'm that kinda guy) - I, like you Kel, feel music, and if it gives me that feeling, then emotions take control. Sometimes it's the piece itself, sometimes it's tied to a personal experience or more importantly to someone (just ask my wife - especially when she's playing piano - but she's been as much of an influence on my tastes as I am to here - she's the alternative chick, I'm the metal/classic rock dude). Music has that ability to touch the soul! Keep up that journey, and enjoy EVERY moment of it!
When I was 13 my late older brother took me to see Frank Zappa at Pauley Pavilion in UCLA. Great night, and Steve Vai was one just one member of the great band that Zappa was touring with. It was amazing. I guess that was the first time I became aware of Vai. It was 1977. Great channel Rich and Kel!
Steve Vai and Orianthi Highly Strung is an awesome display of a playoff between Orianthi and Vai through the song with the guitars, reminescent of the guitar playoff from Tracii Guns and Michael Schenker on the Contraband song All the way from Memphis.
I got to see him play this live as part of the G3 tour a few years back. Vai first (this song was first), then Satriani, then Petrucci. They then all played together. :)
Steve is the greatest, most expressive guitarist to ever record. I've maintained this since checking out Alive In An Ultra World at age 12 (19 years ago) and no force on earth will change my mind at this point
I love your guys channel.I'm glad I found it.I watch a lot of reaction videos and enjoy the reactions of people that have never experienced or heard of a lot of the bands that I grew up listening to.I hope they feel the same joy and energy from the music as I do and the generation I grew up in.I appreciate all types of music and the artistry and dedication involved.I like to think of them as not just songs, but compositions and being able to relate them to experiences in our lives.I'm also a self taught musician that's been playing the guitar for over 35 years. It's a passion and I tend to get lost in my own world sometimes when playing. The hours would just go by unnoticed.Like I said before.I love your guys channel because of your honesty and being genuine. That's what counts.Keep it up as long as you enjoy what you're doing and bringing joy and happiness to others as well.Thank you.Rock on!\m/
Exquisite playing by Steve Vai. And somehow I'm reminded of Carlos Santana and the Mahavishnu Orchestra (with Ian McLaughlin). Check out some tracks from that collaboration ❤️
Small little fact. When Yngwie left the band Alcatraz. Steve Vai was the one who replaced him. They didn't have many guitar players to choose from. I believe the only other person who tried out was Chris Impeliterri.
Steve Vai was Joe Satriani’s guitar student. Joe Satriani is a guitar master. Checkout some Satriani. Yngwie Malmsteen is a virtuoso guitarist also, he mastered the guitar technique called sweeping, a very hard technique. I have almost all of his albums. \m/ Stay Metal \m/
I have met Steve twice he is really humble and a nice guy first time I met him was just 15 years old and he thought me the lydican scale and some modes and I never forgot that lesson. Second time I was thirty which was 3 years ago and he remembered and shook my hand and asked me jokingly how my lessons were going.
He taught you wrong. Lydian is the 4th mode in the major scale. Ionian (root) Dorian, Phrygian, Lydian, Mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian and back to the root.
you just described the whole message of the 2112 whole song by Rush the discovery of an ancient Guitar and he learns to play it and wants to share it with everyone thinking listen to our music hear what it can do. It's a little over 20 minutes long from start to finish with about 7 parts.
Finally someone who listens to music - she almost don't care about visual - now that's a listener. Even though video of this song is special thing in itself.
You two are so cool. Kels reactions make me laugh. Poor girl missed out on so much music, and especially for a music lover, musician and person who plays instruments. Anyway. Thanks for sharing these. I feel like I wish all my neighbors were like you too. Again. Thanks so much. 👍💝👍
One of my favorite pieces is from Genesis. Dance on a volcano. It's not metal, but its progressive. Time signatures all over the place. 7/8, 11/16, 7/4. Great drumming, great melody. It made me stop working and listen with attention the first time I heard it. Love your channel!

This is actually just the studio recording with him on video playing to it. Truly amazing song, though! I've seen Vai in concert twice and he's truly amazing to see live!

I went to ckech it out the ALien Love Secrets tour in 1995 in Sao Paulo, I went to his backstage because I was working for a guitar magazine...crazy years
I just looked this up. Steve Vai played for Frank Zappa. On hte first record, he is simply listed under "Rhythm Guitar and Vocals", on the second album, he gets teh attribution "Strat Abuse", and on the third his contribution has become "Impossible Guitar Parts", and later "Written Guitar Parts".
Hey guys.....did you know Yngwie formatted all his tunes & solos into 1 GIANT piece of music and performed it with the Japan Philharmonic Orchestra? He wanted to play lead in an orchestra FOREVER and when he finally got his shot.....he did play flawlessly! This was absolutely amazing. I think it's 45 mins or even an hour.......so probably not reaction material???? I dunno....maybe it is. With Kel's musical backround, this is sure to be a real treat for her (and you too Rich) and it's funny to see how well (quality) shred meshes perfectly with an orchestra. You didn't get it Kel, the whole tune is about Steve making love to his guitar which includes him bushing his hair back. I won't let my guitar see this. ;-)
Ok, I have to say this guys: Steve Vai - For the love of God G3 1996 That song is a transcendental experience! One of the best guitar performances ever!
Steve Via is considered to only True Master of the guitar! You can look this up yourselves. He plays things thatno one know how to write down because they have never heard anything like some of the stuff he does. Guitar Magazine and Guitar World both had big articles about his playing and both said the same thing, he is the true master!!!!
Great Job Guys, Thanks for the Vai. Alot of other channels Ive stuck with just wont do a reaction to Devin Townsend Death Of Music no matter how many times ( over a year of requesting ) really looking foward to it. Maybe because of the length ( still shorter then most DT songs, but its worth it. Also Dream Theater Hollow Years live at Budokhan best solo everrrr. Youll feel it. Thanks
Steve 20 or so got test with Frank Zappa!!!!! 20 years old! Zappa played his toughest. Ok, play it in 7/8, and in reggea. Add that tone ,Thats impossible. Zappa: " I heard Linda Ronstadt( country) hiring! Played a bit more. Vai said Thanks for the opportunity!! Zappa: You're in the band!!!!
As a musician Guitar Major for 36 years Steve VAI and Yngwie "J" MALMSTEEN have always been My Two Favorite Guitar Guitar Heros .. Noteworthy .. Yngwie is a Fluent Drummer(That was in the beginning) He also can play anything (Bass,Keyboard..ect) Composes and writes all lyrics .. VAI pretty much the same.. And YES BOTH are Bad Singers ...(Well Not BAD but Definately NOT their FORTE'....LOL)
How beautifull people you are. I really enjoy you. Yes we have our passion. The music. And yes metal is so emotional. I have so many songs and bands to suggest you but i really don't know from where i will begin.
There's a song from Steve' s "passion and warfare" album, entitled "I would love to"... Please; oh, please: watch the video clip for that song! 🙏 So cute, almost innocent... You'll love it! 👍😉
Just a small friendly advise: I know that it is tempting and quite understandible to close your eyes while listening to the music, but in the case of Steve Vai you are missing out on half the enjoyment. I would like to add that I really appreciate your reactions and your openness. Best wishes!
Steve Vai is about as close to Eddie Van Halen with the crazy shit he could do with a guitar as anyone. And the first concert I ever attended was at 12 years old and it was Yngwie Malmsteen in very small setting. I'll never forger that. I'm 50 now.
this man makes love to his guitars and has emotion alot of players do not put inoto there riffs so you know what im saying the guitar he's playing he named it flo and boy was she singing
Hi both of ,love what you do . Can see the metal getting in your blood Kel lmfao . Really great . I'm 49 been into heavy stuff since I was 5 ,lucky I was . Kiss ,AC/DC ,and Alice Cooper at 5 . Been unstable since lmao . Keep the emotion , metal gets under your skin forever . Shit , I cry at metal shows when I'm there . Keep enjoying . Later , I'm Richie ,nice to meet you both .
Yeah the whole solo leading up to it and the song performance itself is the greatest guitar performance I've ever seen. I'm waiting for any reaction channel (who especially appreciates that stuff) to react to it.
You should really react to Metal Church's "In Mourning." The lyrics and subject matter will literally break your heart. My favorite song of all time. Truly awe-inspiring.
You two should check out Michael Angelo Batio he is just another virtuoso guitarist. I’m not sure what exactly to tell you to watch but you won’t be disappointed.
#painintheask If you do guitarists I would die to see a reaction to any of the following: Marty Friedman - Jewel (feat. Jason Becker) Jason Becker - Opus Pocus or Altitudes from Perpetual Burn Jason Becker - Rain, Blue and The End of the Beginning from Perspective Vinnie Moore - Race with Destiny (Mind Odyssey, feat, Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater on keyboards) The story of Jason Becker and his personality that shines through his music is guaranteed to move you to tears. He is such a treasure, I know you will get to him, it is impossible to avoid him. You'll see. :)

You look "RIGHT TOGETHER " "" I see your love.
There's a song from Steve' s "passion and warfare" album, entitled "I would love to"... Please; oh, please: watch the video clip for that song! 🙏 So cute, almost innocent... You'll love it! 👍😉
The best version of this is from the live DVD "Where the Wild Things Are" IMO!
Steve Vai with his Orchestra doing For the Love of God.. it's.. breathtaking
como me gusta ver esta reaccion ! como sienten la musica ! me encanta !!!!
Thanks guys!!!
Kel makes the stank face at all the right times! She gets it!
Two of the best ever!
Just a small friendly advise: I know that it is tempting and quite understandible to close your eyes while listening to the music, but in the case of Steve Vai you are missing out on half the enjoyment. I would like to add that I really appreciate your reactions and your openness. Best wishes!
Great job guys , music is all of us
Vai - Blue Powder; Eric Johnson - Manhattan; Paul Gilbert - Technical Difficulties. Go ahead, make my day. :)
Wow, way to go.. good job we love guitar. 😎. You are both excellent, and the 'bow ties are cool' comes from a UK show called Doctor Who.
Kel I love your shirt!!! You are so pretty and REAL.love you guys!
From one Richie to another...WELCOME and thank you for spending time with us as we rock out. So cool. Just getting warmed up.
He played with Frank Zappa many years ago. That was my first experience seeing him.
When two guitarists complement each other rather than competing with each other.
Hay buenos guitarristas, vai te deja con la boca abierta, que texturas musicales, es un genio.
Vai was just a guitar Wizard, that stuff he did was InSaaaance
I suggest young Yngwie. Try evil eye live in Japan 1984 with Alcatrazz.
Truly awe-inspiring.
beautiful eyes beautiful couple all 4 of u ;---)
You two should check out Michael Angelo Batio he is just another virtuoso guitarist. I’m not sure what exactly to tell you to watch but you won’t be disappointed.
This song is a masterpiece!
Emerson Lake & Palmer- Tarkus/ Keith Emerson was a big influence on Jordan Rudess
I guess you guys ain’t ready for that yet, but your kids are gonna love it
Steve Vai - For The Love of God (live with orquestra)
Steve vai is amazing
you guys should do "Find the real" by Alter Bridge. kickass song and I think we need to show our boys over at alter bridge their much due respect.
Steve Vai is my favorite guitar player ever.
#painintheask If you do guitarists I would die to see a reaction to any of the following:
Marty Friedman - Jewel (feat. Jason Becker)
Jason Becker - Opus Pocus or Altitudes from Perpetual Burn
Jason Becker - Rain, Blue and The End of the Beginning from Perspective
Vinnie Moore - Race with Destiny (Mind Odyssey, feat, Jordan Rudess of Dream Theater on keyboards)
The story of Jason Becker and his personality that shines through his music is guaranteed to move you to tears. He is such a treasure, I know you will get to him, it is impossible to avoid him. You'll see. :)
The year is 2018/19...sometimes i wonder, as someone, with internet access, UA-cam, hadn’t heard Steve Vai play Tender Surrender .... holy shit.
You guys rock. Loved the guitar duel song, fucking A+. Love Vai, he's so good even his prodigy's rock. How do make requests on your channel? I have some some requests /suggestions. Kel I totally get you. Without metal I'd have prolly killed my self as a teen. The thought crossed my mind more than once. Luckily I found the empathetic words and music in songs like "Metallica's "Fade To Black" and realized "if they got through these feelings so can I. I an now a wonder junkie and an artiest and fan of great art in all its forms. I have some poetry and stuff I'd love to share with you. Peace, love, and empathy.
Best Yngwie live concert is Live in Leningrad. Check it out
HEYYYYY this is a new one for me too! (both songs) :D
PONY of the VILLAGE oh - great. What did you think of them?????
@@kelligafter502 I thoroughly enjoyed them so much! the second I am gonna download actually!! after I heard Steve Vai I recognised it immediately. I guess I didnt realise that was who my mom was listening to lol.
@@kelligafter502 I'd seriously love you to listen to the Black metal song by Cheerful Depression called Sleep Forever.
I dont listen to it a lot, but it evokes a kind of emotion that I think is beautiful and needed. its not true black metal- its a subgenre- but it's just hauntingly beautiful. #WillEventuallyBeAHugePainInTheAsk #thisIsFun #MusicForUnicorns
PONY of the VILLAGE wow, your mom used to listen to Steve Vai - FUN! No wonder you are superstar rocker!
I have added your request to the list and we will get to it. Thanks so much for playing - and I
