    Okay, this might be weird, but I wonder things like how did they brush their teeth? What did they use for soap and shampoo? What did they do when they needed dental work? How did they make their clothes? Did they wear a different outfit every day?how many changes of clothes did they own? How did they cook? What were the female daily duties verses the male? Did they work all day long or did they have more free time than us? What did the normal folk eat daily? Seems bread was a hot item back then. Was it hard for them to get food at times? Because some of the people were following Jesus around just to get fed again. I’m not even kidding when I say I’ve wondered things like this and more many times. Idk why. Sometimes it’s because of something I read in the Bible other times I just have curious moments, I guess. Loved hearing the stories of what it was like living back then. These are some of the things I wonder about. Thanks for sharing them. 😊

      It's only been a century or so since most of the world began using products processed and bottled. You can still use natural products like people have done for thousands of years. Grind plants and mix them with oils and lemon to create cleansers and cleaners. People still use a sort of root or plant to clean their teeth. Of course they spun and wove plant fibers or animal hair/wool for fabrics. It is only in recent modern times that people would change their clothes every day. Except for the very small percentage of elite, life was work and more work. That was the life most knew for most of history.
      In most ways, there is nothing natural about the ease of our lives today where so many sit to do their jobs and they drive instead of walking, where we can get so much food easily and put in little effort to get it.

    Death rates were very high in early childhood and during pregnancy/childbirth. If you survived that, you had a good chance to make it to old age. People didn't just suddenly drop dead at age 30. That is an average, and that average is low because of all the deaths at a young age.

      women close to the land were healthy then, it wasn't til they started eating white bread that child birth became a common problem. white bread deprives the bones from proper formation ( hips). city women, rich women, and then victorians and after, ate less healthy food. But children died a lot in europe, where the weather is cold for months.

    • @EvelynElaineSmith
      @EvelynElaineSmith 8 місяців тому

      The same principle held true everywhere most particularly in rural areas until the 20th century. Families had a lot of children to ensure that enough of them would survive to adulthood. Once people moved to town & started having to live in small apartments, the number of children decreased substantially. Of course, living in a big city cost more, so women had to go to work outside the home, so that decreased the rate of childbirth even more since women delayed childbirth longer & had fewer children.

    A more accurate description of what the farmers were to let the people glean from their crops was that they let the corners of their fields be gleaned so just imagine a square of land made a circle ⭕️ out of the square that the farmer got the inner circle and the rest was for the people to glean and eat from it. That’s how it’s described in the scriptures.

This was a charity, allowed as a favour to the women and children of the poorest people. They would spend g'knows how many hours picking single grains off the ground, and had to show very grateful for it.

When I get to heaven: one of the things that I would really love would be for Jesus to show me all over the Holy Land. "Give us this day our daily bread" is not about it at all. At least not from the perspective of Christ's teachings. This phrase refers to our spiritual life, and hence the meaning of it is that we ought to read and study the Word of God daily, not just merely eat food, even if the food (bread) was the main meal for the people at the time. Jesus uses the example of bread because it was the main meal, and most crucial for people. This way Jesus points us to studying the Word on a daily basis as the Main and most important factor to know our Lord God and His expectations, directions, etc, from us. At least this is how I see it.
    It is however a very interesting presentation and thank you for making it happen, and putting it here on UA-cam for us all to view it.

      During the last supper they ate bread, as it was customary, then Jesus said as you eat this bread think it is me ( body) and drink wine ( blood) the first Eucharist. Once a guy said Catholics are cannibals, I don't know but he most likely has no idea only a priest can change bread into body of Christ and it's a high concept to wrap your head around, or a simple one due to Faith. So, yes it is bread, wheat and water baked in an oven but once it is consecrated by a priest it's the body of Christ.

    Three things should be noted - 1) Judeans probably looked a lot like Yasidis, Druze today (Abraham was from “Ur of the Chaldeans”) & Arabs; 2) The climate in Judea was a lot more like Central Coastal California than the desert it is now - We see that from archeological digs at Masada; & 3) Jesus was at least 5’-11” (1.81 meters) tall according to the image on the Shroud of Turin.

    • @jasona3884
      @jasona3884 Рік тому

      Hm? Yasidis are native to Western Asia - Turkey.
      Sum "ur" ia - means land of the black headed.
      Men of Jesus day were likely short. The descriptions of him suggest about 3 to 3 1/2 cubits - 4.5 to 5.5 feet. We are all still learning so who knows.

    • @TraditionalAnglican
      @TraditionalAnglican Рік тому +1

      @@jasona3884 - I was saying what Jews looked like at the time, Ur of the Chaldeans was a definite geographical location in Mesopotamia (Modern day Iraq), and that is where the Druze & Yasidis have been for 1000’s of years. Black headed probably meant Black or dark hair, which would be common in the Middle East. We have only 2 indicators for the height of Jesus - 1) The fact the Roman Soldiers (who were 5’-7” & above according to historical records) felt the need to “cut him down to size”. You don’t need to do that to people who are 12 - 18” shorter than you are. ATST, most of the remains of Judeans from that time are from people who are at least 5’ tall. 2) The Shroud of Turin clearly shows a muscular man (Jesus was a carpenter & worked on construction sites with his father) of 5’-11” tall who had been nearly beaten to death by a squad of Roman Soldiers as described in the Gospels. There are no contemporary (or near contemporary) physical descriptions of Jesus, so we pretty much have to accept the Shroud.
      FYI, the Royal Cubit was 22” long, so even 3 cubits would have been 5’-5”, and 3.5 would have been 6’-3”…
      Now, there is a description in the non-canonical apocrypha which states the Jesus was a head taller than the soldiers who scourged & crucified him, and head & shoulders taller than the Judeans. Both of those are more consistent with the man in the Shroud than with your description.

    The Greek word in the earlier Bibles for "daily bread" in the Lord's Prayer actually translates to "supersubstantial bread," something quite different than simply bread. The Greek versions of the Bible predate the English translations and so more likely are closer to the original meanings.
    Supersubstantial more likely means the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist. Jesus was showing us how to correctly pray day to day even before his passion, death, resurrection and ascension.

      'The Bible was created during a time where stories were orally passed down over thousands of years.
      Stories constantly morphed and changed over time, and the Bible is a collection of these.
      This is why it has the nearly identical flood story from Gilgamesh, and why Jesus has the same characteristics as Dionysus, Osiris, Horus, Mithra, and Krishna.
      The contradictions and immorality in the stories are not evidence that God is flawed or evil,
      but rather that humans invented him, just like the thousands of other gods that we used to but no longer believe in.''
      ...and to answer the questions of the many fears and mysteries of our universe, like 'thunder' and earthquakes, since there was no science yet.
      This is the old Testament.
      The ‘new’ Testes is also hearsay since these letters, ‘gospels’ and stories were written by the loyal faithful, the camp followers,
      not by objective historians at that particular time,
      or by any contemporary writers,
      and these tales were written many years after the supposed events of this mythical Jesus.
      Thus, there is no verifiable evidence of a Jesus in real documented history.
      Then, many of these stories, but not all, as many were not chosen,
      [ There are more than just four Gospels but only these four were agreed on ],
      were compiled for one self-absorbed converted Roman Emperor in his Nicean Council,
      for his expressed purpose of conquest and
      control of the people of Europe for his Holy Roman Empire.
      He recognised that this was the perfect religion/mythology for the future domination of the populaces.
      Half of the stories were ignored by the Nicean Bishops and none have been proven to be based on fact.
      This ‘Bable’ book is backed up by absolutely no facts and no evidence.
      It is not proof for any god(s) ....(or of any jesus...)
      It is a historical novel.....

      This is understood. But it’s important to understand the historical setting. Separate your faith from the historical setting. You have to understand the time in which he lived, to understand why God moved the way he did when it came to Jesus. Understand what Jesus was confronting.

      @@pennymitchell8523 there are extrabiblical sources that speak of Jesus. Unlike Muhummad. Muhummad is only spoken of as lived in the Koran. However, there are those that weren't Christians that lived during that time that spoke of the actions of Jesus and the earliest believers and followers of Jesus, so the that is why there is no historian that will say that Jesus didn't exist.

    L'argent est le moyen de la corruption (des âmes ?) , sans lui, pas de malette, pas de galette, ni profits ni bénéfices...
    Héritage, propriété, tradition ? Faut-il encore rappeler que nous ne sommes sur Terre qu'éphémères ?
    Ils se paient nos têtes et il n'y a que ca qui compte !
    Leur modèle économique va à l'encontre de notre satisfaction collective : Terre Vérité Amour sont nos seules valeurs humaines communes dignes d'intérêt et n'ont pas de prix ( nécessaires et suffisantes pour garantir la pérennité de notre support de vie et les conditions acceptables de nos existences).
    Hiérarchisation et priorisation de l'affectation de nos ressources doit être un débat publique et commun.
    RIC pour gouverner tous ensemble enfin. Le citoyen à l'initiative de la loi par ses questions légitimes et les réponses de l'état apportées avec diligence et déférence, en public et en commun.
    Les conditions de nos existences sont fixées arbitrairement par des tenants illégitimes qui écrivent les circonstances de leur impunité et les lois qui les protègent. Police et justice sont complices de leurs vices. Les médias sont les instruments de leur propagande.
    Reprenons les rènes de la démocratie : tirage au sort de chaque décideur/contrôleur/rapporteur parmi les administrés et transparence des règles doivent s'imposer. RIC pour gouverner.
