I don't know how this came up on my UA-cam but I watched it through. You all must have spent an age constructing this. Brilliant. Thank you for your great effort. I just wanted to say how appreciated this effort is. Looking at this history of Egypt makes one realise how small each of us in terms of time and the universe.

I'm only 30 minutes into this story of Egypt and I just HAVE to say, that I was lucky enough to go to the great exhibition of Egyptian artifacts in San Francisco. This was when exhibitions went all over the world so we, who couldn't get to Egypt, could gaze in wonder at that which is Egypt. I stood in front of the iconic golden mask of King Tutankhamun, no further away than one foot! I witnessed mummies. I was close enough to see their eyelashes and fingernails. I saw their jewelry, pottery, statues that were so highly polished that you could see your reflection as clearly as if it were glass. One of the most breathtaking things I saw were the hieroglyphics beautifully displayed for viewing. I could go on and on, but I want to get back to this video.
Beautiful to read your experience, I felt your words and wonder. I also had the pleasure of experiencing Egyptian artifacts in the Museum of Natural History in New York City , I was much younger than but you brought it all back as well as this magical woman . 👏🙏♥️

Their work their home lives the games they played the food they ate, you can just picture it in your mind, she is amazing i would have loved to have her as one of my professors when i was in university.
I wonder why she bo bothered calling what was called "Canaan" with the much much newer name "Palestine". To me this faults her entire presentation. It's either she's keeping it historically correct or something else

I am absolutely in LOVE with this series! In college, I did my art appreciation thesis on, "The Art of Mummification," and painted literal giant scrolls I unwound, pinned to the wall, explained how it was an Artform unto itself! Us students were grading each other, so you know that they all gave me Fs. She marked them all out, gave me an A+ And what do I paint with today? Yes - what they Egyptians used! NOTHING beats Lapis Lazuli, as it twinkles, I add on the earth pigments from there. I've been enjoying buying or hand grinding my own pigments, from watercolours to oils! Yes, cautious about what works, doesn't work together, but I must always go back to my love of ancient egypt. Helped me to spot a forgery in the Louvre, that all the experts insisted was real. Anatomical goof is blatant, if you take off your rose colored glasses. When people make up excuses, they are wrong.
I fell asleep watching this and had a dream where I visited Egypt with my sister and as we walked around the ancient monuments in the present day we were given a VR headset that we could wear that was perfectly mapped to the outside world and showed you what Egypt looked like at the time of the pharaohs. It was beautiful. Huge stone buildings and temples, lush green pastures in which cattle grazed. It was so amazing. Thank you for such sweet dreams.
To be able to learn from you online through your videos is a delight. To ever be able to meet such a renown Archiologist as your self would be a true dream come true. Yet to tread in your footsteps would be the most humbling of things not within my ability. Ms. Fletcher you dear lady are what I have wanted to do all my life, to walk in and learn about Egypt first hand would be my dreams and desires come true. Regretfully my old school parents thought that Archiology was not a sufficient way to support myself as a woman.
Though Egypt was ancient to the ancients, this documentary reminds us that history is made by people struggling, experimenting, and adapting, just as we are
Very well done and you seem to have such passion for this culture, as I do, too. It was magnificent. I could easily watch 40 more hours of these excavations, history and culture. Thank you.
Dr. Fletcher captivates me with every word and every emotion. I feel Ancient Egypt in my soul and all that I am. Dr. Fletcher ascends to a level that no other mortal parallels. If I were ever blessed to be able to travel to this magnificent place, the only thing that would make it even better would be to be able to meet Dr. Fletcher there, and possibly visit the Great Pyramid with her or a temple. How amazing that would be. A girl can dream... Thank you Dr. Fletcher for all that you do. You do it with such passion and grace.
I'd kill to have a walk through (insert ancient Egyptian archeological site here) with Prof Fletcher. Her genuine enthusiasm and knowledge of the dynasties is insurmountable and rubs off on people. Shes one of my favorites hope to meet her one day.
A good documentary that let us down at the end. Joann and the producers did such a good job describing the characteristics of each era of ancient Egyptian politics and faith, and then just left it at "well, here come the Romans, so let's just skip to how the British Empire rediscovered ancient Egypt and did a service to everyone." When were the last hieroglyphs carved? Did the Romans not assimilate into Egyptian culture? How similar is the ancient Egyptian spoken language to Egyptian Arabic?
Simply the best prof. Fletcher! Thank you so much for so eloquently Sharing your knowledge of ancient Egypt, it is obviously your passion and it shines through and has made my day....” you can turn the rain off now!” 😄😄😄

I don't know how this came up on my UA-cam but I watched it through. You all must have spent an age constructing this. Brilliant. Thank you for your great effort. Dr Fletcher has such enthusiasm and passion for her subject. Could listen to her lectures all day!
I think if you can work on uncovering history with a person like Dr. Fletcher, work will never ever feel like work. It'll be a passion project from the beginning to the end.
So true, everyday with Professor F. would seem like real life Indian Jones/ The Magic School Bus!
I saw that exhibition too in Memphis, TN. Astounding!!
Saw it in Chicago, Illinois.
I absolutely love this archaeologist she has such a beautiful intellect on top of the fact that she loves what she does and is somebody that did not have the resources to become an archaeologist and do what I love it's wonderful to see somebody that can do it and share it with people like me thank you madam we appreciate your hard work

The people unwrapping the past and trying to understand our history are the true heroes of modern humanity explaining our stories and why we came to be . Truly amazing we have no idea how the pyramids where built and just how smart our forefathers actually where !
In my book Joann Fletcher is to Ancient Egypt wat Mary Beard is to Ancient Rome and Eleanor Janega is to Medieval England. All three are first class story tellers
Yes
I agree all three are brilliant. It saddens me to see how often folks comment on their looks though. Not really something male historians have to deal with.

It's actually a BBC documentary. This channel just has the rights to show it.
Love her commentary, nice to see a presenter with a Northern accent. Make us feel at home, plus she is so engaging. She really makes it exciting and intriguing watch.

Revisiting this documentary feels like finding solace in the rich tapestry of Egyptian history. The host's passion and knowledge make it an unparalleled journey through 3,000 years of civilization. Truly magical to witness!
Professor Joann Fletcher is one of The Best Egyptologists around, her inspiration for this fascinating subject. If I could go back in time and just watch without being seen by the locals then I would have gone back to the time of the Egyptians and pharaohs. I’m sure that I would not have been alone as a lot more people would go back to watch the splender of the Egyptian people. Thanks to Joann Fletcher for the brilliant documentary about the history of the people. Thank you….Phil

Good for her. She’s pursuing something she loves and finally getting recognized. A bunch of work that is an understatement. I hope your eating descently!
What an amazing documentary! Much gratitude to all who made this, all of the sound and visuals were lovely, and of course Dr.Fletcher for an engaging presentation of one of the greatest cultures.
I love her so much, I love Egypt too. Learning all of these things, knowing that there are so much more out there to discover, it's so exciting... I'd give anything to be able to be a part of it. Just incredible!
Absolutely brilliant. I, like many, had only heard the highlights. It is fascinating to see a full timeline. Thank you. A great documentary.
I love watching Prof.Joanne Fletcher and listening to het talk about the lives of the ancient egypts is amazing, i could just imagine how they lived their lives. Their work their home lives the games they played the food they ate, you can just picture it in your mind, she is amazing i would have loved to have her as one of my professors when i was in university.

This is so beautifully done. I have gone to Israel and seen so much. Now I want to go to Egypt. Thank you for showing us all this great history.
I wonder why she bo bothered calling what was called "Canaan" with the much much newer name "Palestine". To me this faults her entire presentation.
It's either she's keeping it historically correct or something else
@@ponyclub3198 I agree, the name Palestine was fom the Roman period. Canaan was used in the ancient world.
I found your channel through Mr Ballen and since then you have been a breath of air in a suffocating media world. Living in the Pacific Northwest and talking to volunteer search/rescue people first made me aware of unexplained disappearances in the '80's.
Which of Mr Ballen's videos brought you here? His channel is my favorite on UA-cam. I saw the one about Dorothy Eady. So, he has another Egyptian story? I must watch it. :o
The one where Mr Ballen explains that he had used loads of David Paulides' material to create his own stories.
I just realized now that I commented to you instead of David Paulides'. DUH. I had your channel open at the time. Ive watched everything you have put out. Some of it twice.

Love Joann she's just fascinating to watch. Her passion for this subject keeps me captivated. X

@백지현 nah go looks its all fake there's no pyramids and history is a lie "sarcasm"
Fletcher!
