I minored in religion when I was in college back in the 70s and one of my professors was one of the people that excavated the dead sea Scrolls he showed us many slides that I would love to see again today because back Then it really didn't mean much to me like it would now.
You want to see them again to show that the Bible is wrong?
Because I am older and would appreciate seeing the pictures more at my age. Actually Ken Johnson has great teaching on youtube and books about the Dead Sea Scrolls. They contain much information about the 400 silent years between the Old and New Testiments. John the Baptist was probably an Essene and they were probably the first to believe in Jesus as the Messiah. You should check these out for education purposes.

All these documentary channels need to add THE YEAR of the video made. Certain facts will be outdated so it's really important. Not passing it off as a recent video as I've seen other channels do.
They all outdated. Every piece of the scrolls sent to America to be displayed have been found to be fakes. I don't think it's real at all. The Roman's and jews cooking the books.

Lost all credibility in the first minute when the narrator says Jesus grew up in Palestine. That's so ridiculously untrue that it's hard to take this channel seriously. The Romans didn't rename Israel/Judea to Palestine until after 200 AD, a full 175+ years after the death of Jesus. This is common historical knowledge but I guess the narrative matters more than accuracy.
The narrator said the discovery of the Dead Sea scrolls caused concern that what they said would undermine modern Christianity. This should tell us something important about what we have traditionally been taught. If there was concern, then they were aware of a disconnect being likely.

Where are the people? Why do they never find people's remains that lived in those towns/villages. They find walls, floors, roads, and pottery but never human remains? I mean, scientists uncover skeletons of dinosaurs that are million years old, but I've never heard of a grave site that contains the remains of the village/townspeople. Where are the bodies?

Some of the scrolls were burned for cooking. Plus the boy was a shepherd "looking for strays", not stinking around in the desert. It was common to toss stones in the many caves to get strays out. He heard the jar break then went in to " see" what it was, he was not stumbling around throwing rocks.
When one is " looking for",& FINDS something, that is not stumbling.

What I find interesting is the fact that those that created this video so long ago used so many Catholic religion employees, traveled scraps of Israeli heritage, and not once spoke in depth of all that was written on the Dead Sea scrolls. It would blow your mind, look up Dr. Ken Johnson.

bruh it was so hard to watch this documentary. the first 30 mins is "anyone could have written these scrolls, it's historically inaccurate because *insert trust me bro source*" and then they legit spent another 30 mins citing random people over time who have been observing the qumran bones. like bruhhhhh... extremely cringey.
The worst part about it all is how they denigrated the essenes. As if that Jewish sect hasn't existed since Abraham, as if that Jewish sect was violent towards muslims and romans, as if their ideaology wasn't oppressed by pharisees. Jesus was a member of the Essene community in Qumran. Dolores Cannon and many others speak of this. The Books of Thomas and Mary Magdalene were part of these writings, the Gnostic Gospels that were not included in the current Bible which was edited out by Constantine when he "converted" to Christianity and didn't want the common people to understand how powerful they are as divine Children of God.

Jesus life in Judea
Ancient writings on animal skins, that is to say vellum, can be examined to see if there were earlier writings that had been scraped off, hence the name 'Palimpsest' from the Greek for 'rescraping,' I believe, (and I'm wide open to correction on this if I don't have it right).
My question is this: Were scrolls or other papyri ever erased or 'rescraped' in order to be reused and if so, are x-ray examinations performed on old papyrus documents in order to read what was previously written on the material?

To understand the Qumran community, one must understand Jewish history, especially the last 400 years before Christ and the first 60-70 years AD. The 400 “years between the testaments” were years of degradation in the Jewish religion. The priesthood was corrupted. The Old Testament ends with no hint of Pharisees, Sadducees, or a well-entrenched system of oral law. Yet the New Testament period opens with these Jewish religious leaders, a “generation of vipers” and their “traditions of men,” condemned by Jesus.
Every Jew knew and believed that just before the earthly reign of Messiah there would be a time of wars and rumors of wars, culminating in a Great Tribulation (Time of Jacob’s Trouble/Testing) and judgment on the world in a great final battle fought by God on their behalf just before Messiah comes to rule over the earthly kingdom. John the Baptist, Jesus, and the apostles declared the culmination of that prophecy “at hand”/close during their teachings in the 4 Gospels.
But the National Jewish leaders and most of the Jews rejected Jesus and demanded His murder. At the very hour they performed the ritual of sacrificing the Passover Lamb, the fulfillment of that “type” was hanging on a cross--tragically they missed what they had been waiting for for almost 1500 years.
Of course, Christians understand Jesus’ death was more than just a murder. It was a heavenly judicial victory over death and is the basis of the secret Gospel of the Grace of God first revealed to the Apostle Paul a decade after Peter offered the earthly kingdom to the nation of Israel on the day of Pentecost-IF they would repent and recognize Jesus as Messiah. Peter declared, if they did, Jesus would return and (once the prophecies in the Book of Joel regarding the Tribulation were completed), Jesus would return and begin the earthly kingdom--Times of Refreshing.
A few Jews believed. Most did not, including (and this is key-for the offer of the kingdom was a corporate/national offer) the Jewish leaders. For 450 years, a handful of faithful Jews of each generation (such as Zacharias, Anna, and SImeon-Luke 1-2) had been counting down to the year when the Messiah would come “based on Daniel’s 490 year, prophecy“ they were ready and prepared to accept their Messiah. I believe the Qumran community knew where they were on the prophetic clock as well..But as they waited, they also knew the temple had been corrupted. They knew from prophecies in Ezekiel that only the Zadoke line of priests would serve in the temple, they also knew that is not who was in the temple at that time. I believe the Qumran community were men from the Zadokite lineage--the line preparing to take over immediately after the great war, to do their temple duties. That explains their purity rituals And a lot of their literature which talks about the teacher of righteousness versus the teacher of unrighteousness, etc. They knew there would come an antichrist and that they must be aware of false prophets and false Messiahs. They protected ancient writings and would be ready to move right back into the temple when God came to make all things right before the kingdom when they would serve as the beginnings of a “nation of priests” as promised.
I also believe some of the scrolls date later into the middle of the first century A.D. I even suspect these Qumran members knew of Paul and the new message he had that the kingdom was postponed with an age of grace made ready for all men--Jew and Gentile in one Body of Christ, different from the Nation of Priests/(Jew teaching Gentile) prophetic model. One of the scrolls speaks of a Benjamite (Paul was from the tribe of Benjamin) Age of Grace. They would have had to have known about this firsthand after Paul began teaching in the 40s A.D. because Paul makes it clear it was never before prophesied and he was the first one to get that message. These men would have felt like Peter as he wrote in his second epistle that it was hard to understand the long suffering of God, not coming back yet and setting up his kingdom. Peter refers to things he and other believing Jews had recently learned from Paul as “things hard to be understood.“
One cannot imagine the heartbreak and disappointment as these faithful Qumran believers felt the Roman soldiers closing in on Jerusalem, and ultimately their community, and realized they would not live to see the fruition of all their preparations for the kingdom and temple service. But in Romans chapter 11, Paul makes clear God is not done with the Jews. This age of grace will come to a close. And when it does, the prophetic clock will begin ticking again. God will make good on all his promises to the Jews. And those faithful Qamran men will be resurrected to serve in their temple yet.

The biggest mistake people back then made in studying scripture is the same mistake they make today. Thinking prophecy is something we can figure out in advance. If we could figure it out in advance so could Satan and God always wants to trick his enemy. Prophecy can only be understood in real time when it is happening if you know prophecy it will strike a chord with your spirit. Deciding ahead of time that the Messiah would be a warrior who would defeat the Romans prevented many of the Jews from accepting their Messiah. We must not make the same mistake as we await Jesus return. We cannot know what God has planned. We must just accept that whatever we think is going to happen, is definitely not it. Such as the rapture you can be sure that is not what is going to happen

they weren't all killed in this battle. whilst it is easy to see that they probably did see it as the final apocalypse prophecy because they only had Isaiah's word and not the book of revelations and were all slaughtered, when Jesus arrived it stirred up the Jewish pharisees so much because after finally watching the destruction of the essenes they now had to deal with Messianic Jews being converted by Christ preaching and his followers everyday into the thousands, having people come from other nations to see the messiah aswell just created a whole new movement of essenes. In response to this, Pharisees allowed rome to tighten their grip on the city, with Nero slaughtering every single Jew that followed Christ allowing the ungodly jews to be enslaved. It definitely would have been a much bigger sign of apocalypse to see Jesus and Nero if the essenes survived to witness it that's for sure. Luckily for us, because of Jesus and God we have bestowed on us a much more accurate end times prophecy in the book of revelations. Seems as God will never leave us in confusion and empty handed when the enemy tries to commit genocide on the only voice of his people like we seen with the essenes.

Christianity has always been (since the fall of man in the garden) a salvation based group believing in the coming seed of man who will redeem us from this fallen world. Gnosticism does indeed pre-date what we call Modern christianity but it is not the same gnosticism we see today in the newage movement that casts the demiurge as being the God from the bible and satan and his rebels (the elohim) being the saviour, it's the other way around. Jonathan Kleck does extremely well at exposing this.
For instance, before you had "Gnosticism" you had "Zoroastrianism" which is essentially the same core beliefs although zoroastrianism had a more proactive religious approach that we see in christianity today,

How are we certain the scrolls are not fakes? Are there other writings anywhere, going back in time, that detail the existence of these people? Only one jar with scrolls in it found by the boy. I am not sure I fully believe it. They have had many years with very chosen specific people doing clever things in closed secret. There has been plenty of time to build the story. Still many loose ends.

They are not fakes. We are certain. There's scientific methods for determining that kind of thing beyond any doubt, including carbon dating.
