Sensei you can´t possibly imagine how thankful I am for you to make these videos. Karate is my life and you and your awesome lessons (wether in UA-cam or the website) are slowly becoming a part of that life too. I really hope things are going well for you and I wish you the best in life. OSS!!
LegendaryGlasses I'm honored by your kind words! Keep being a Karate Nerd! 😄
That was cool Jesse! Your techniques make sense when seen in slo mo. I'm learning Sanseiru and I'm going to try to break down the jumping kick to see if I can do it. Thanks for the tips.
Rock on!
I use to always do this practice when I had karate practice for shotokan where I would do jumping knee lifts across the dojo. Was one of my favorite thing to do when I used to practice, just instead of practicing for jumping, it was to try and move your feet in sync with your hands since most times my punch would reach the target before my feet does. While jumping and lifting our knees to our chest, we would also do a straight punch with it.
I have now devoured ALL of Jesse's free videos in 2 1/2 weeks. They are GREAT! Thanks to Jesse, Oliver and their Mom. And thanks to Jesse's DOG for making me LAUGH in the MMA Kata video! When I get my Social Security I will subscribe to Karate Nerd Insider. EAGERLY.
congratulations for your videos Jesse! I'm a kyokushin karate practioner, and I' ve learned a lot about other styles by whatching your videos. keep trainning hard, And I hope you come to Brazil for a karate seminar. oss!!!

Thanks a lot it's really helpful for my daughter practicing kata... thanks a lot
Very nice drills for high jumping, thanks for sharing. It would be also great to see the techniques you have for spinning while in the air, many people miss the importance of being compact during the spin time to fully expand at the kick and landing time.
Amazing video , this video Will help me in the Empi

I also like this jumping side kick, and I practiced kicking the opponent's chest by jumping up in reaction to the opponent's kick.

Excellent.. Really enthusiastic explanation's and Demo's. Inspiring Sesnsei :)
I'll be 58 this year... I'm still determined after a bit of a Karate lay off...
this was shot after the hips rotation one hehe amazing content
Can you make a video on training methods you learned from Inoue Yoshimi sensei? Specifically on how to get that crisp relaxed speed vs. speed created through tension?
Very Informative ✌✌✌✌
Mantap... 👍👍
Thanks ...i need this from ny kata!!❤❤
super 94 Great! Happy to help 💪
Jesse Enkamp my friend is better than me in kata but i am good in kumite ...and she need to jump she is good at kata but not at jumps❤❤
Next time you come to Okinawa, it would be great if you visited the Nix Seidokan dojo. You're very inspirational to watch. Osu!
👏👏👏 Jesse San, very good explanation. I like most the part of the bunkai version. Because of my knees injuries, I was so sad and thought I have to quit with Karate, till I notice, that is not necessary to jump in the application. I was saved 😉 Anyway....if I could, I would surely take your advices for to train high jumps. All the best for you, Tanja
Tanja Mayer / Ki-Karate Wonderful! I'm sorry to hear about your knee. Is there anything I can do to help?
Thank you very much for your kindness! I found out what is the best for me and still do, so that I can do what I love, "Karate" :-) and still improve and stay save. And, there is always something to find for me in your videos.
as a taekwondo student once again your advice and training methods are very very helpful, i wish you a twin brother who did taekwondo :D
Haha, great! Let me know if there is any specific video you would like me to do. Thanks!
wow thank you very much, My face expression to your comment can only be compared to when you were trying the food in your okinawa vlogs haha
Thank you for your explanations!
It actually helps me a lot to train for the jump in kata unsu.
At least at the end of the video, you mention that you don't have to jump high in traditional karate, so I don't have to put that in my comment. ;-)
Hii pls pls pls... Make a video on chatanyara kushanku kata back kick jump
..
Hello Mr.Encamp.Can you put together a video of Nunchaku techniques involving joint locks and take downs.there are barely any found in the UA-cam world
I got a question related to kata jumps. The jump from Unsu, is it done while the performer stays horizontal, or vertical ? I've seen both... but which one is correct ? Thank you very much,
Any tips on how to jump wider, like in Meikyo? 👀
Another tip for everyone trying this: try both sides, for example first the left side is the "jumping leg" and then the right leg is the "jumping leg" and try which one is more comfortable.
And to the sutemi-waza: we also have these in Judo, which are really scary to train as uke, the one falling, because you don't want to land on your partners arms or somewhere else and hurt them. Once, my training partner did the technique incorrectly and I almost shoved my knee into his stomach. Luckily, he moved to the side and I turned around.
Im 52 years old and never nobody teach me the way to jump in kata, the only jump that i do good is in heian godan, good teaching Enkamp Sensei, now do Kusakun Sho with 2 jumping
Beautiful🤩🤩🤩😎😎😎🥰🥰🥰
Hehe! With skateboarding you do something similar when learning to ollie (jump) with the board.
I wish I would have watched this before trying the guy we kick this is right after I did almost broke wrist
Man! You almost killed yourself in the last jump😆. I’m going to practice this, thanks Jesse!
What style does he do?
👌👌👍👍
Oss plz tell me how to jump in kanku sho kata
Go off on foot and follow his steps then thrust kick for jump kick
One inconvenient truth for jumping - the less weight you have to propel into the air, the higher you will go. For many of us (ahem) older karateka, lose 20 pounds and your jumps will be much better
I dont care you are my sensei
Kia
Why going so far and give the more difficult katas as example when you have the first jump alredy in PINNAN GODAN...?
Ugh. Heian Godan, Enpi, Unsu. Three katas, one same ankle injury thanks to the jump..
srry sir I am a low rank than u but sir I am a yellow belt . But according to systema
jumping reduces our speed actually we have to move fast on the ground that seems like we are jumping .
Im a girl in karate I'm 8 years old and I only started yesterday I'm really good tho
It's difficult. ......😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😲😣😣😢😭😭
