@Bryce Thibodeaux do you... understand what SYSTEMIC RACISM is? The cycle? The way you're writing I assume you're white because it reeks of white fragility and ego. If you are white in North America, UK, Australia, any colonizer country, then no you can't understand unless you did some reading and went outside your safe bubble then you can't and only then you'd understand the theory but would have never have had to live it. If you're not an ally and part of the solution fine, you do you. But don't go around talking about stuff you don't understand and most importantly, have consciously decided NOT to

The gang mentality is with blm and progressives, covering up actual statistics which reveal that their entire narrative and concern is a lie. Its why every martyr is someone with a record like Georges, robbing pregnant women at gunpoint, this is the best this "movement" can do for a reason.

wooo weee, wrong. Nothing justifies what happened to that man. Those crimes you speak of are from 10+ years ago. The man isn’t god, he’s a human doomed to make mistakes. I’m guessing you’ve never made any? And the stats you speak of are false interpreted. The numbers themselves are disproportionate. Why don’t you speak about that? Oh yeah, it’s because it invalidates your argument and inhibits the agenda that you’re trying to push.

This was a terrific interview, this is what journalism should be. Every headline on CNN, Fox, MSNBC, CBS you name it is just “nation divided”. Where? How can we have civil discussions like this about progress and be called divided? We are all Americans, Van Jones and Conan are having one of the many great conversations that are going on right now. Let’s get these types of videos, videos about the truth, to the top of the algorithm. Van Jones exposes a lot of the financial incentive these officers have over the commitment to their community, money is the root of all evil. Racism is just a characteristic of evil, there are evil people who want to rip us apart. Don’t let them.

Friendship shouldn't be conditional. It should develop naturally and should always be on a human level not relating to race, religion, caste or culture. It also severely weakens the friendship when the relationship becomes patronising from one end.

Kay mrs I REALLY don’t want to argue and I’m trying to be as reasonable as possible with my words but I don’t think this is all just about how many white people are being killed by the police versus black people. As this interview states, they only make up 12% of the population so I think there will obviously be more white people being killed because there are more of them in general. I think everyone has a different meaning about what this protest is about. To me it’s not about just the killings and police brutality against black people but all people of color and just anybody they can discriminate against. It isn’t right that someone who is supposed to protect citizens is going out and killing them for unjustified reasons. I don’t think anybody on either side can say that someone killing another person for a petty reason is right. And if someone can say yes to that then as a person they lack morals and humanity and should seek help. But anyways, sorry for getting off track (don’t think that last part was geared towards you, I was just rambling) I’m just not able to see how this protest is meaningless or unnecessary/unjustified.

The police in my area were on a “show them who’s in charge” power-trip, I guess because of what happened in Minneapolis.
A few days ago, I was illegally stopped by two cop cars for “dark tint”. (Mind you, the car came with 20% tint on it and I’ve had it for two years with no problem). My car was illegally searched because the cop “smelled marijuana” (never smoked a day in my life and I ride alone). The officers unlocked and went through my locked glovebox and locked trunk without consent, tossed my car, ran my license to find nothing. They handed me my license back, jumped in their cars and took off.
I couldn’t get their names or badge numbers and they didn’t issue me a traceable ticket for anything, INCLUDING THE “DARK TINT” they stopped me for. They probably never even called the stop in. They just tossed my car and left. All they had to do was pull something from a pocket and slip it under my seat, and there went my freedom.
I didn’t break any laws. I have no warrants or drugs. I had a valid license, tag, and insurance. My tint was a fix-it ticket AT THE MOST. And police in my state aren’t allowed to stop you solely for tint regardless. The reason this happened was not primarily because I’m black (one of the officers was also black), but because they knew they wouldn’t get into trouble for it. This is where oversight and accountability come into play. No excuse for those handfuls of rioters, but plenty excuse for reform. That’s what this is about. This man said everything right. Respect to him and Conan for addressing it.

Imagine if they started arresting McDonalds employees when they burned a hamburger (cops are hired with the same qualifications as fast food employees). Employees would find ways to cover the camera or not write their names on the wrapper. If too many employees got arrested, nobody would be willing to work at McDonalds, except the worst workers (problem with cops).

I hope your message gets out more. It's about checking police power and accountability. You know the same thing thst happened to you just happened to a friend of mine while back. Hes white, pulled over by cops, they said the same thing to him. searched his car, which was packed with his belongings cause he was moving. They had to dig things out into the street to search his whole car. They found nothing and left. I lived in the adjacent unit next to his mom. A month later they broke into her place cause they said there was an emergency call coming from that residence. BS.. they were in Argentina on vacation.. saw 8 cops break in and search the place. Who knows if they stole something.
I think the media really likes to play up racial victim hood. It's terrible. The phycological effect of it is insane. Where can you go, what can you do if you believe your life is the way it is because the country is discriminating against you for your skin color? You can do nothing but fight and become bitter or just give up at that point. At least that's how I'd feel...I grew up poor in the city and also in some rural parts of towns. Move around a lot growing up. Been called all kinds of racist names just for having light skin or for being mixed race. Luckily I surrounded my self with good people and good friends from all backgrounds. It became clear to me that the media poisons people at an early age. That and seeing that there are some organizations out their that use race to bait and rile people up to gain power. Some people are hurting so bad that they just get tricked into thinking their problems are about race and that anyone not the same color is an enemy... We are the content of our character not our skin color. But when you are hurting it's easy to revert to blaming others even if it doesn't make sense. The sad thing is sometimes they are right. Sometimes its racism that's causing a problem. But I have to believe it's an outlier. Otherwise the terrorists win...

As a mix race it becomes easier to see things from other perspectives, and I honestly wish that more white people could see how by saying you "don't see color" or "all lives matter" you are not seeing the injustices that people of color have had to deal with for so long and how saying those things can be a racist thing to say. Racism is real, and just like an addiction, the first step to recovery is admitting your wrongdoings. I am lighter skinned than a lot of my relatives and have witnessed first hand how people would treat me one way and treat my relatives another way. Second degree in Minnesota is for things like drivebys & 'oops' stuff that Van described. First degree requires proof of premeditation. If they tried to go for first degree & he was acquitted - they wouldn't be able to charge him again for the same crime. So maybe third degree murder is the charge that will get the best outcome in terms of seeing that he is made accountable. The O.P. mentioned that he learnt about it on the "Opening Arguments" podcast after being outraged at the charge & trying to work out was was going on with it.

Hey! I am an indian teenager and i was wondering how i could look into these disputes in my country through this conversational medium of listening and exchanging.
I have failed , before the corona, to understand and know. You see i live in my privilege and this shell and i believe i never understood the standings and hardships before 2020. I saw the recent heartbreaking protests and the migrant crisis and it broke me apart.
What i am asking from you is do you have any articles , videos or anything you would like to recommend. I believe your older than me and i wish if you could share your experience.
Here is one i would like to recommend you if you have time:

14:00 As a Singaporean Chinese, where my city state is famous for its racial harmony, I can tell you quite frankly, if you want your society to be educated about racism, you have to pay the price of education. The Singapore government made sure that we are brought up from early schooling to have respect for everyone regardless of race and religion. It's even written in our national pledge. Everyone has to play their part, both as individuals, and as a community.
