I am 75. When I watched and listened to you 3 days ago I cried. It has taken me this long to comment because every time I thought (which was often) tears fell. I WANTED TO HUG YOU, like only your favorite aunt would. I wanted to sit and listen until you wanted to stop. I wanted to provide a comfort and support to you a young Black man struggling with this ... As I watched your face, body language and listened to your voice not just the words, I wanted to give you a hug. Trevor you are not alone here, you have a great aunt sending hugs and support.

Did you read the report? If it wasn't for the video it would've been just another incident. And even with the video they're now reporting that he died because of a health issue
A few bad cops wouldn't break the system. Police are put into life-or-death situations all the time, sometimes leading to a death that is the officer's fault, but America doesn't riot for all of those deaths. It takes something truly horrifying, and part of a pattern repeated over a long period of time, to go beyond breaking the law, and break the "contract of society" as described by Trevor.
Lawmakers spend years studying laws and history to craft future laws that are just and balanced. Police are expected to uphold the laws but they train for a handful of weeks and then are out in the field. These cops are not trained and vetted. There's also an attraction to the macho image of a cop in America. Compare American cops to the ones in UK and you'll get the idea that cops here in the US are allowed to escalate an interaction. An African American person stopped by a cop for missing a turn signal and the cop walks up to the car with his gun out... this is bewildering. It does not happen in any of the other developed countries. Cops in the US for the most part are not trained the way they should be and this is why the system needs to be overhauled.
I start to understand what's going on in US after this video. In Russia I haven't seen this point of view ever. I'll tell everybody I know now about it. Social contract. This is the core thing and this is why those windows are broken. Take care, people. And let me write these three letters for the first time in my life with deep empathy - BLM!

Damn, sorry, and too bad the situations hasn't changed. I fear too many Americans vote for power, not moral leadership. Thus the bad example wins and protect his own side. And the power is now rigged so moral leaders can't win. And the anger over the consequences is growing. Either those in power start acting better, or the shit will blow up in their face. And I fear they're too disconnected, too entitled, too rich, too White (as in racist White, not human white) to understand.

JohnnieVision If true or not, what did that have to do with his murder? None of that is relevant to what happen to him. You see, that is the problem. Rather than focusing on the injustice of his murder and those that murdered him, you rather try to dig and find some justification for his death. Trying to find why we should be ok with his murder or to justify why you think he deserved to die. Your thinking is why there are protests and anger that has over boiled into the streets. Because you rather find excuses for the abuse of power rather that finding ways to have equal justice for all. That’s what the protest is about, equal treatment and justice under the law. Not street judges and executioners. If you continue with your line of though, I hope karma hits you swift and hard. Maybe then you will understand when it hits home.

I’ve long been fascinated by Trevor Noah’s ability to dissect seemingly complex situations and put them in plain language that everyone can/should understand. He again hit the nail on the head with this analysis. Thanks, Trevor! You add real value to this difficult conversation that needs to finally happen in America. I hope it will so as to finally allow this country and its people to heal the wound that has been open and neglected for centuries. It’s long overdue!!!
Yup this is why I mostly want to hear his opinion on what’s going on ..it’s difficult times indeed since and even before Sandra bland these things keep happening it can’t go on
I just want to say this monologue was inspiring and powerful. I've shared it with family and friends, all white, and have been amazed at the response and empathy that it has garnered. It's been re-shared throughout our social circles and it has changed minds. My grandmother, who is supremely old-school had shivers and tears. Trevor, your talent for speaking helped people understand the need for the protests, the need for reform, and got people to understand the privilege they enjoy in a way I have never witnessed before. Thank you for your perspective and your moving way with words. It's speeches like this that change not just minds, but hearts too.
Well I also think they are scared. If the police can kill a man right in front of you, what says he can’t do the same to you? Especially after you’ve given him a reason such as assaulting him. And the police then has an angle to spin the story saying he got attacked that’s why he pulled the gun or whatever. I think they were brave enough to record and spread the video of what had happened and they were brave enough to call the paramedics and yell at the police. We can’t ask more of them.
Girl I was talk about that to my 23yr old son. A grown man taking his last breathe calling for him momma😢😢 To find out she passed away 1yr before. She was there to get her baby outta this hell!!! May he continue to rest in peace him & his momma.🙏🙏🌹🌹
Yes! I was screaming at the video! I was screaming for him to get off his neck. When he started crying out for his Momma, I broke down crying and am mourning still. It took a riot to get that evil piece of crap to be arrested. If it didn't happen, I know he wouldn't be arrested!!
"But my dear, you've been in Kansas the whole time ..." Your inner voice has probably been saying the same thing to you for years. Were that not the case, you wouldn't find it so compelling. I do not say this to diminish your praise of him.
Before Trevor goes on air he collects lots of information, analyses it carefully, and then speaks about it intelligently. During the Covid crisis I have often thought that he must have saved many lives by giving people correct and timely advice. He is clearly highly intelligent, well read, insightful and compassionate. In this article he has excelled himself. Well done Trevor!

Trevor Noah really has grown into his role on the Daily Show. The Daily Show has always straddled the lines between entertainment and news and editorial opinion, delivering insight not propaganda. This editorial is profound, and should be watched by everyone.
What he's saying is true and painful. Many people don't want to hear it. They are in the swamp.😵 Yes, Racism is a power trip but Ignorance is learned. Lol (Imagine that?) Thanks for sharing this common sense perspective.🙏❤
Trevor is brilliant in the way he makes common sense out of current events. He has a gift beyond his years. I watch him and marvel at his wisdom. His wisdom comes so natural. My friends we are watching genius at work. Listen to this young man he is able to connect with humanity.
@Free Traders no shit, Sherlock 😉 that's why he explained it so detailed, so everyone who couldn't understand the importance and weight of this situation and the following outbursts of anger/violence, would be able to empathize and get a glimpse of a reality they never encountered themselves. My parents never had to worry that my brother would get shot by police or that we would get a lesser education or salary, because of how we look. I never experienced racism towards me (or much racism overall - where I live, people are pretty open), so apart from reading about it, learning in history classes or seeing a few minutes here and there on TV, there isn't much of an experience I could rely on to even try to get the bigger picture. So yeah, it's exactly for white people like me (seriously, I might blind people when I'm out in the sun) and I'm very thankful for it!
I WISH I COULD LIKE THIS A MILLION TIMES AND PLAY THIS IN EVERY HOME, BUSINESS AND ANY PLACE WITH A SCREEN! THIS!!!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT PEOPLE ARE FEELING! THANK YOU FOR ARTICULATING THE EMOTIONS AND FOR SHARING THIS TO THE WORLD! THANK YOU!
I sent this to a few of my caucasian friends and asked them to share it with their family and friends if they really want to know how we feel because Trevor sums it up VERY WELL!!👍🏼
I do too!!! Well said, Trevor!!! Time to forge a new contract that truly benefits ALL equally. People should be seen as who they are. Skin color is irrelevant, and these cops who are racist, committing hate crimes, need to go. When that cop calmly killed that poor man, my heart shattered. I was outraged that not one of the other cops even tried to interfere. They, too, are guilty and deserve to be sentenced for murder and a hate crime!!! I will share this with everyone I know. This must stop!!!
My God, Trevor, what you’re said here is so powerful.....I hope the people who don’t “understand what has been going on for generations” learn from your carefully articulated thoughts. As you spoke, it felt exactly liked you were here in my living room with me, like we’re good friends and we were talking about what’s happening together.
They understand what's going on but have been conditioned from childhood to ignore it. If I say it doesn't exist then it doesn't example " cause I said so"
Those people who would put blames on the black people and the protesters will never sit through this analysis to try to understand anything. They all think like their master in the WH that color people have to be put in their places, they should not ask to be equal.
I totally agree with u! Well stated....with a spin on society taking accountability for their actions...starting from the top with proper leadership...so that community can fall in line by showing the good that is shown from the top on down to them...leading by example...they in turn set the tone for society to stay in good order...like a mom teaching her child to do right...
I felt everything you said. I have experienced this from an early age. I can remember being in the 1st grade and the teacher asked all of us what we wanted to be when we grew up. I said I wanted to be the president of the world. The teacher and the class laughed at me and one boy shouted out," You can't be president, your black." The teacher didn't object to his statement. This happened in 1979. The teacher was old then, I wish she lived to see Obama become president. I am a teacher now and it embarrasses me that she was a part of our occupation. Complete disregard for a young boy's elevated aspirations. I have never gone to jail, but my skin has allowed me the opportunity to "interact" with the police many times.
Thank you for your story! I guess that teacher was blind doing that time. The boy told him! You can't your black! You see he was taught! And the teacher back him because they all laugh and said nothing against it.. But now you have the chance to tell all the kids. They can be whatever they want to be.
rrrealqueen But was it so different than now? I think that people now just know it’s not PC to say those things but most still think it and actions we see today show it to still be true
@@DawnOfTheDead991 it was a kid, calm down. the point is that the teacher didnt explain about the position and instead agreed with a racist statement. if that was your only takeaway, then you are one of them
tbf, "society is a contract" is one of the most basic views on society . In addition to Rousseau if you like the whole contract view you should read Hobbes
They know he wasn’t disrespecting the flag, that is their form of dismissal. A Green Beret told him to do because that is what they do to honor a fallen soldier during the National Anthem.
I would like to hear from those who were livid about the kneeling when he did it calling him non patriotic and refusing to acknowledge the why he did it , wonder if this sheds light on understanding why movement's like black lives matter or just bending a knee means..
Trevor's point on 'social contract' verbatim: "I saw so many people online saying, 'These riots are disgusting, this is not how a society should be run, you do not loot and you do not burn, this is not how our society is built!'. And that actually triggered something in me and I was like 'Man okay, society? What is society?'. And fundamentally when you boil it down, society is a contract we sign as human beings amongst each other. 'Amongst this group of us, we agree in common rules, common ideals, and common practices that are going to define us as a group.' That's what I think a society is, it's a contract. And as with most contracts: the contract is only as strong as the people abiding by it. But if you think of being a black person in America who is living in Minneapolis or Minnesota, or any place where you're not having a good time, ask yourself this question when you watch those people: What vested interest do they have in maintaining the contract? Like, why don't we all loot? Why doesn't everybody take? Because we've agreed on things. There are so many people who are starving out there, so many people who don't have. There are people who are destitute when the virus hit and when they don't have a second paycheck they are already broke. Which is insane but that's the reality. But still: think about how many people who don't have, the have-nots, say: 'You know what, I'm still gonna play by the rules even though I have nothing because I still wish for the society to work and exist'. And then some members of that society, namely Black American people, watch time and time again how the contract they have signed with society is not being honored by the society that has forced them to sign it with them. When you watch Ahmaud Arbery being shot and you hear that those men have been released and, were it not for the video and the outrage, those people would be living their lives, what part of the contract is that in society? When you see George Floyd on the ground and you see a man losing his life in a way that no person should ever have to lose their life, at the hands of someone who is supposed to enforce the law, what part of the contract is that? And a lot of people say, 'Well, what good does this do?' Yeah, but what good doesn't it do? That's the question people don't ask the other way 'round. 'What good does it do to loot target?', 'How does it help you to loot Target?'. Yeah but how does it help you to not loot Target? Answer that question! Because the only reason you didn't loot target before was because you were upholding society's contract. There is no contract if the law and people in power don't uphold their end of it."
This looks like it might be a post worth reading. But I strongly suggest editing it and breaking it up into paragraphs. It is so hard to follow this 1 massive block of print, regardless of how good it might be
What stuck out to me with Floyd's murder was just how *casual* the brutality and abuse was. It wasn't a "heat-of-the-moment, snap judgment" situation - it was just a white man kneeling on the neck of a black man, who had no weapon, and the only allegation against him was trying to use a phony $20 bill. It was akin to seeing a fisher posing with his catch, or a hunter with his kill - it was dehumanizing as hell, and his coworkers did nothing. As for the rest - respect is a two-way street. If you don't get any respect, what the hell motive do you have to *give* it? And with peaceful protesting, I wish I could find a link to the article, but a reporter covering one that happened in England in the late 00's, early 10s asked one of the rioters what he felt destroying property would accomplish. His retort boiled down to "We protested last month, and hardly any news outlet showed up. Look around you *now* and tell me what you see." There were swarms of film crews from multiple, high-profile media outlets - and the reporter had to admit the guy made a compelling point.
And why any force at all if he’s already in handcuffs? What’s the point of handcuffs if you need to use force? I saw an episode of Cops years ago where two cops were beating the crap out of some guys who were cuffed and sitting on a park bench, unable to defend themselves. I wondered then how the cops got away with it. It’s so much worse now.
This exactly this. Police excessive force is never good. However the most shocking aspect about Floyd's case (for me at least) is exactly what you described. An officer snapping or having a fast reaction (usually firing a gun) is bad. But it's a moment and I do want to believe that sometimes it was a fast decision incorrectly made not to be actively racist but inconciously this decision being influenced by wrong preconceived ideas buried in their minds even if not on purpose. But this... This was clear as day. Floyd was passed out and he still doesn't remove his knee. Like you said it truly does seem that officer was posing, like showing off a trophy of sorts, he was enjoying it. Floyd begged the officer. Bystanders warned and begged. And still... Honestly for me that is not manslaughter, is downright murder.
The $20 bill might have been the most uncovered parts. If you use cash, you could be in possession of a counterfeit bill at any time without knowing. If he did use a counterfeit bill, he may not have even done it with criminal intent. None of this needed to happen. I wish we could have heard the original call to the police. When I worked a register, we would tell the customer that this bill is illegitimate. We would confiscate the bill and allow the customer to make the purchase with other currencies. People will be shocked they have counterfeit money. I wish we could hear the call because the people who call the police set the tone the police will use when they arrive. The police should have been interviewing Floyd to track down the origin of the bill if it was even counterfeit in the first place.
They did the same thing that they did to Eric Garner Where was all his press? His killers were never brought to justice Black people are sick of hearing how shocked people are w/ murders that have been happening in plain sight for YEARS Instead ask yourself why it took so long to finally pay attention
It's kinda sad that the most sophisticated, wise and true statement in a while is coming from a comedian. Not a news station, reporter etc. I wish, Trevor had a liking to politics, he'd be a trustworthy representant. His ability to express and explain very complex matters in a couple of smooth sentences, understandable for everyone, projecting *exactly* the picture he's painted in his head, is remarkable. The woman threatens that she can use a black man threatening her with the police. Trevor, a fake accusation of a woman against any man is still a weapon. No one believes the man. The man is always the criminal. Sexism exists more strongly and is more common. Women are discriminated in some aspects, men are discriminated in other aspects. No one talks about the discrimination of men.
As a 50yo white man, I have been anti-racist my whole adult life -- and vehemently so for the last 20 years or so. I've spent years looking at hard truths and scouring the racism, prejudice, hate (and homophobia) that I grew up with out of my psyche. But I'm not trying to get people to see me as "one of the good ones" or some crap. I do it out of SELFISHNESS! I do it because I REFUSE to live without my soul. I DEMAND it. So when I become aggressive in my intolerance of racism, it's not because I'm some damn "hero". I'm just not giving up my soul by enabling, tolerating or ignoring your racism. Racism is a disease. Racists themselves may not be my enemy, but they are carriers of a disease that's going to have to go one way or another. So if you're a white American and you think that racism is only a problem for non-whites...

@@cdixon198 This is not about opinion. Whites don't have definitive privilege when it comes to police. The statistics say so. The only way claims can be made for "white privilege" is by messing subjective definitions of oppression. That's what makes this so sad. because the numbers run so close that even if there WAS racism toward blacks it couldn't be definitively proven, yet you'll choose the narrative that is false and pessimistic because somehow that's the more popular one and/or comfortable one and/or you won't do the research to learn the statistical truth.

If America wants to eradicate racism between black and white, the only way is to never teach your children to be a racist, in a couple hundred years old people will die out along with their racism.
Trevor, thank you. As a middle aged white male, I have been trying to put into words what I have been seeing and what I have been hearing from other white males, and you describe it perfectly. Thank you for your voice, it is what I needed and what I believe as well. I wish our leaders had similar views.
Certainly not easy to give such a sobering perspective on something so volatile and emotionally charged. I have utmost respect for all that has been said in this video.
Mr. Noah, I don’t know if you read these comments but I would like you to know how much I appreciate you. I struggle as a white woman trying to explain these concepts to people in my life because of my perspective. I empathize but I cannot completely understand because I have not lived those experiences. The way that you turn a phrase, create message, construct language is masterful. You help me better understand, and in turn, I hope I can plant seeds to help others understand as well. Thank you sir.
Wamlambezzz!! Man it's so sad to see what's going on over there... I mean, we have our own problems to take care of but to see our brothers being killed for the colour of their skin... It's fuckin unacceptable
The ONLY reason we are talking about this is because someone was able to film it. His death would simply have been deemed a "medical" complication and life would have gone on just fine for the perpetrators.
Yes the power of technology puts despicableble acts in the spotlight for all to see, when before, these acts where hidden. Yet we do not see changes it sight. There will soon be a tipping point.
@@someguy6135 Yeah what is the clinical diagnosis called when 3 cops kneel on your neck, back and legs while you are already handcuffed? I forget, can you remind me what that is called?
Rioting is different from looting. Yeah maybe burning the police station is maybe justified. But burning and looting innocent people's shops who had no hand in this. That is a shame. Trevor did a terrible thing saying that it's it's okay to loot. Really brother? It's okay to loot your house, do unspeakable things to you and your family because 4 bad apples murdered another human..? No. Sad 😒
It’s also the language of the tired and those who are always hearing that they are wrong. There is only so much injustice someone can see before rational no longer means anything.
I can think of one that people just don't use enough... don't spend any money at establishments that are owned by people you disagree with. And let them know it loud and clear.

I was thinking the same things but Trevor has articulated the issues perfectly. Without a script. Comfortable with silence when he needs to think how best to frame his words. If only our leaders knew how to carefully, calmly, forensically deconstruct the problem, present it and deliver solutions that everyone can agree to try.

brendan you have not really listened you heard what you wanted! Right now some states with peaceful protests have used the police force to oppress people protesting against police violence. Throughout history we can't speak is what he said, always being told this way is wrong, that way is wrong. This WE is now royal because even though the focus is Black lives matter people of all ethnicities are united in this cause. What he is saying is instead of Trump threatening citizens on twitter, had the president taken accountability and enforced accountability on police chiefs and governors then rioting probably wouldn't have started in the first place. Er... the government isn't violating anyeones rights, The goverments and Trump even said what happened was wrong. But LOOTING AND VOILENCE ARE NOT A DAMN RIGHT. Citizens have a right to be protected FROM LOOTING AND VIOLENCE.
I could have sat in that moment of silence for hours. There’s something so powerful about the way Trevor bares the truth to us, and every word had the weight of a bag of sand. Society is a contract, police are looting black bodies.
When you have your hand in your pocket, while simultaneously your knee on the neck of a man killing him... that is killing while casual. That “officer” is a sociopath. He calmly killed George Floyd. Rest with the Angels brother 😔
The officer must be devoid of any humanity. How you knee on a persons neck for minutes, listen to their pleas and just wait ... that is beyond me. And how his colleagues just wait with him. Nobody should have to die like this.
Because its not Target's fault? I agree with you overall, but protesters are burning cars of innocent people in my neighborhood. How are you going to protest innocent death by attacking other innocent people or their property. To me, that is just not logical and is ultimately unproductive because those people who you looted are not going to make cops stop hurting people.
I’m from Luton, England, just outside of London. My family is Guyanese but I was born here. I’ve experienced racism and the overwhelming fear that it entails. I'm a George Floyd that didn't die. I had a boot put on my head by a cop that got aggressive with mw in the parking lot of the Home Depot I used to work at 11 years ago.. They said I was loitering. I thought I was safe because I'm a bit lightskinned and pretty and educated and I sold appliances and countertops. But that opened my eyes personally.. I have had white folk threaten to call police on me for doing something they wouldn't bat an eye at a blonde haired girl or guy doing or saying. It's sickening. My first reaction was upset about the looting but that was my whiteness speaking, I'm really glad folks like you are speaking about this for those of us aware of our bias and willing to listen. Definitely feeling more sympathetic toward the looters now. Overall, most of the protests have been peaceful and a lot of people are still wearing their covod masks. If anything should reopen first I'm glad it has been activism for social justice and anti-racism ❤
Imagine "feeling more sympathetic" toward the people who are burning down black owned businesses and communities...you, as well as they, are part of the problem
Kazuma Blackwing I agree. People see something has happened and take it way too far, the majority of people in these protests are peaceful, but then there’s those who just burn stuff. If they wanted to actually do it properly they wouldn’t have done anything more than a peaceful protest. That’s how Martin Luther King did it and it worked very well
@@toastiboi7618 Meanwhile police slaughter people in open daylight. Most only get a slap on the wrist and the few that get sued only get fired. "The fact that he was so calm doing it" this gives me chills. Wow. I can't even wrap at how any human being could do this to another human being...especially in public. The white cop did not even blink an eye. What also pissed me off was that they didn't even resuscitate him, that's how Fucking heartless and inhumane those cops were and I KNOW they were trained to do so. We need justice.
KLS- 95 the fact that he didn't even lift his leg when the paramedics arrived proves motive and callousness. He wasn't eliminating a threat he was making sure he was done murdering him.
KLS: people who are completely calm when they commit horrible acts of violence are generally sociopaths. He didn't do it because he lost control of his feelings. He did it while completely in control of his feelings.
The fatal flaw in our justice system is omni-present. Professionals, GOVT officials, those in positions of power, need to be under the harshest of penalties in our land in terms of failure. @@whyigotbanned2913 you don't get it. That's not the point. No one should ever have to died like that no matter what they did. Especially in a Democratic Society that we claim to be. “...legitimacy is based on three things. First of all, the people who are asked to obey authority have to feel like they have a voice--that if they speak up, they will be heard. It can't treat one group differently from another.”
In a way, Trevor getting the gig for the Daily Show was kind of a disservice. His ability to deliver heartfelt and sincere insights is so much greater than what he can churn out for the highest level of pop news media on a daily basis. When he does these scrappier essays and harder interviews from his housing and outside the production studio, it's just so much more relatable.
I think with his role (that you think of a disservice) is actually a good thing, because he gained a lot more traction and had a bigger voice but I do agree that this format is more relatable without any laugh tracks.

When those who make the laws, break the laws, there is no law.
But the police don't make laws -- so there are still laws.
@@americancitizen748 Then let me rephrase it for you: When those who were sworn to uphold the laws and break them, laws lose their meaning.
Interesting logos......

If someone had gone over and pushed the officer off, that person would be in jail for obstructing an investigation and assaulting an officer.
I think if someone tried to interfere, they would have been shot and the officer would have said “he feared for his life”.
The other coward 👮would have emptied his clip in the citizen that would have tried to do that.
A small price to pay for saving a man's life, I'm upset no one did.
I thought about this too. But that may even cause more deaths, as the police now have an excuse of using violence.

Trevor Noah really has grown into his role on the Daily Show. The Daily Show has always straddled the lines between entertainment and news and editorial opinion, delivering insight not propaganda. This editorial is profound, and should be watched by everyone.
What he said was so true... very profound

I felt the exact same way.

👍Well Said 👍✌Thanks 👍✌
They know he wasn’t disrespecting the flag, that is their form of dismissal. A Green Beret told him to do because that is what they do to honor a fallen soldier during the National Anthem.
I would like to hear from those who were livid about the kneeling when he did it calling him non patriotic and refusing to acknowledge the why he did it , wonder if this sheds light on understanding why movement's like black lives matter or just bending a knee means..
Trevor's point on 'social contract' verbatim:
"I saw so many people online saying, 'These riots are disgusting, this is not how a society should be run, you do not loot and you do not burn, this is not how our society is built!'. There is no contract if the law and people in power don't uphold their end of it."
this should be the top comment
Now do the rest of it... 😎
Ya us black people should move back to our homeland in Africa and start a new Anti-racist society!
@@franciscarodrigues3629 dont forget how he asked him to stand up. It's like saying "why are you hitting yourself?" to the max
They did the same thing that they did to Eric Garner

Seeing Trevor's video was the first time that I've an insight into what racism means. To me, this video is very important. Thanks, Trevor!!
He was just light skinned enough for you to listen to. Really think about it
You don't look that young...
This is sadly nothing new.
Still, better late than never, I guess.
Please share it with your friends

This is a lovely sentiment, and as you said, important. I hope this note gets to Trevor. Change-agents get tired too and your insight would give him light. ⚘

The most articulate, insightful, yet clearly heartfelt commentary I've heard on these events, and their connection, anywhere. I'm forwarding this to everyone I know.
Yes. Trevor's commentary is a beautiful synthesis of heart and mind. The clarity of his analogy is practical genius and his words are spoken with a calmly understated passion. He's quite a teacher, our Professor Noah.

I couldn't have articulated this any better, your comment sums it up perfectly. I will forward this video, too.
The best explanation of race in America that I've ever heard in my 67 years. Thank you, Trevor. Thank you.
I agree. As a white woman, I can’t begin to know how others whose skin color. The closest I get is going somewhere with my adult son. He has a strange haircut. Shave on the sides and a strip of hair on the top. People treat him differently, I get treated differently because I am with him. He isn’t like our “normal” accepted white person we expect.

Wake up citizens !!! Can you see what it´s happening her ???Who do you think make this happens?? A police officer looking at a camera in almost 10 minutes and wait for a man to die ?? The man was neutralized , why they didn´t take him in the car?? Did Trevor tell you that these 2 men was working as a security gard together in a bar , the knew each other !!! It´s George Soros (the globalists who are taking all our countries down, not just USA) who arrange this to destroy the credibility of Donald Trump (because actually a lot of black people are starting to realise what he´s doing and are ready to vote for him). Instead to focus on the medias (who ARE a part of these globalists) try to fokuse on what Donald Trump is doing (he took back the FED bank to protect YOU and all countries so the globalists don´t go on to take us down with a false economy, it´s HUGE !!), he´s stopping the pedocriminalite in the whole world (already found 50 000 children since oktober 2019, protect you from the censure on the sociale medier, his economy was much better before the virus , ....If you can see that , what a pity. I Loved that yes. However, little do we realize but Trevor is a very analytical chap and his final content emerges from intense critical analyses of the content at hand. I think this comes from the tightroped nature of his background/upbringing: he has the ability to change his lens with ease.
He has got really deep thoughts. He doesn't make a rash decision on how to think about this. He takes his time, sorts his thoughts and only then he makes his statement. Loved how he paused to think at around 12:04. Didn't even notice it on the first watch. Great man!

One of my favorite proverbs...
"Society is a contract... The contract is only as strong as the people abiding by it"
- Trevor Noah
This is basically the crux of all social contract theories including Rousseau's (and his more orthodox predecessor Thomas Hobbes)
Yeah buddy we all watched the video and heard that lmao
If America wants to eradicate racism between black and white, the only way is to never teach your children to be a racist, in a couple hundred years old people will die out along with their racism.

The ONLY reason we are talking about this is because someone was able to film it. His death would simply have been deemed a "medical" complication and life would have gone on just fine for the perpetrators.
Yeah, they should look into that too. Which doctor said it was a medical death. The doctor should have known that he died from being suffocated.

"There is never a right way to protest"-- so true. Dr. MLK: "a riot is the language of the unheard."
No. Sad 😒
Of course there is a right way to protest. Read about Mahatma Gandhi.
Wow SF
Not sure the words; it's ok to loot were spoken. Funny how some people get their own version if what is said.

Or rather, he did a great job of making you think he didn't prepare for this video. Which is credit to him, still.

brendan you have not really listened you heard what you wanted!
By refusing to protect citizens of colour we have effectively been excluded from social constructs but it's a shock if we act outside of the social constructs.
Lest we forget that white people taught us how to riot!

For the past 3 months I have rewatched this clip again and again for comfort. Trevor can always articulates what I can’t. "Two plus two is four, minus one that's three quick maths" - Big Shaq
Er... the government isn't violating anyeones rights, The goverments and Trump even said what happened was wrong.

I wake up and fall asleep with the image of that pig kneeling on George Floyd’s neck. “I can’t breathe” with stay with me forever. We saw the light fade from his eyes. I’m truly saddened by the state of humanity, especially America. It’s the year 2020, not the 1950’s! Rest easy George, I pray you get justice. 🙏🏽

What's hurting more is the fact that he was saying he can't breath and cop was still flexing on his neck
And his rocking back/forth with his hands in his pocket applied even more pressure. His entire weight was balanced on Mr Floyd's neck. What a bastard!

I'm a George Floyd that didn't die. I had a boot put on my head by a cop that got aggressive with mw in the parking lot of the Home Depot I used to work at 11 years ago.. They said I was loitering.

It is sickening. Thank you for sharing your story. We need these conversations. Society as we know it can never be the same.
Kazuma Blackwing I agree. People see something has happened and take it way too far, the majority of people in these protests are peaceful, but then there’s those who just burn stuff.
