In case anyone was wondering what "Impossible" entails, here's the design notes: "This hack will rather crush you hopelessly down, or make you a absolute master in Super Metroid! It will require you to execute all the hardest possible moves in order to pass different rooms, such as: - Very fast Wall-Jumping skills - Mid-Air Morph Bomb Jumping and Diagonal Bomb Jumping - Bomb Jumping with Mid-Air Demorph + Shooting + continuing BJ - Very flat Mockball or Speed Mockball - Short Charge - Very fast reflexes in all different situations and much more."
Having watched and rewatched Oatsandgoats' run of this game at AGDQ2020, seeing this get nailed to computer's perfection is just awesome. TASs in general are just a pearl to the eyes and this one is no different, it's amazing to see all the strats, movement and techs that the human reaction speed can't manage. I'm glad this game keeps going strong even in the new decade! I'm still in the middle of clearing my first playthrough :,)
This is the first time I’ve personally seen a speedrun use a recharge room as part of its path. Also, absolutely insane that the Varia Suit pickup is after killing Ridley.
I just found that it’s possible to do bomb Torizo skip In this hack. You can take damage right before picking it up and run over the spikes with I-frames. Could have saved maybe 20 seconds 😅
The run was amazing, congrats to 3x3supercuber, first of all. Second, I believe it´s amazing the the hack can barely be broken by TAS after so many years, Saturn did an amazing job, and third, I also find amazing that TAS has to "settle" for a humanly doable route, just TASly executed.
Don't worry, they're alive, they escape in their own ship (because they're not dumb, but I'm not sure if that ship is theirs) And the reason he didn't rescue the animals is because that takes half a minute, he had 20 seconds left, that would have killed him
(44:36) Using the fact the torizo catches your super missiles to give you an opening to attack it is a genius move I feel stupid for not exploiting sooner.
TAS runs are not able to be counted as world records. But they do show the theoretical world record should someone play perfectly with instant reaction times.
@@ah2190 Ehhh, it would be more accurate to say that a TAS shouldn't be compared to an RTA run. Within the realm of TASing, there absolutely can be one TAS in a given category that is the "world record," being faster than all of the other TASes in the same category.
This is not a World Record, this is a TAS, if one is faster than another, nothing happens, there's no leaderboard, because this is not a Speedrun (of course, it helps Speedrunners, but a TAS is not a Speedrun)
Remember when Other M was panned for adding a forced hell run sequence? And now we have to do a BOSS FIGHT under those circumstances? I have no idea why this hack ever got off the ground. As for the run itself, things like settling for a 3-cycle Phantoon are why I think this will be obsoleted soon.
It stuns me in this day and age there are still people complaining about UA-cam ads. Ever heard of ad blockers or using a different browser that auto-blocks all that crap?

sheeeesshshh so are they 50/50 disadvantages?
@ What parts? There were more notes that I didn't copy/paste here.
@Those are impossible tricks that a casual player cannot execute, there are only a few people who can do them correctly
Wall glitching and shine spark tricks?
That is absolutely CRAZY
Amazing work! Was a very fun watch
Almost as good as the GOAT himself
Holy s**t, it's oats and scr0tes!
LOOK WHO IT IS
Yooo its you!! I remember you from that 2020 AGDQ super metroid impossible run!
Disciplinarian preordered utensil Ella and ythe new version is the same one I
Ridley is the gatekeeper for the varia suit? That's pure evil!
1:09:13 -- it's pleasing that they got back to the ship with exactly 20 seconds remaining on the clock.

This speedrun really makes this romhack look vastly easier than it is.
Almost 88000 re-records. Holy cow.
I this with bizhawk tasStudio which automates savestates so none of that was done manually
This is the first time I’ve personally seen a speedrun use a recharge room as part of its path. Also, absolutely insane that the Varia Suit pickup is after killing Ridley.
Diabolical lol
Super Metroid Possible.
Impossible for non-speedrunners
Hard for speedrunners
Easy for Tool-assisted speedrunners
19:53 Holy shit, I had to watch that 0.25 speed to see the perfect execution.
There is no spoon.
@@E-102_Gamma Indeed. That was truly a "there is no spoon" moment.
extremely impressive work 3x3...

It's a tas just saying
All right UA-cam I’ll watch this since you keep shoehorning this into my recommended videos on my UA-cam channel of mine!

Crazy how you need to defeat Ridley in order to get the varia suit, but the entire path to get to Ridley requires the varia suit
Not sure why it's called impossible. Everything looks super easy.
Whoosh
Mhm.
Average Super Metroid Speedrunner be like:
Barely an inconvenience?
@@kjata919 "Barely an Inconvenience Metroid"
Good ring but a little wordy. Very Japanese sounding title that would likely get changed when localized.
oh good, a rom hack that doesn't remove the several minute long intro at the beginning

Nice run! Those crystal flashes were clutch.
But... Da animals 😢
RIP animals
toasted nicely animals

isso é incrivel, gostei muito.
I like that this run skips using X-ray glitches

@48:55 That’s so diabolical and downright cruel of putting the Varia Suit in Ridley’s Lair after the boss fight against Ridley!
Very disappointed the TAS didn't beat Ridley before he could take the baby.
Mother brains health: ONE MILLION
CC on during Crockamire says "thank you" when he gets shot 😢
i wonder if there are any "human" speedruns of this or if its just a tas only speedrun?
This would look fantastic with 16/9 and fast load :)

I tried for a long time trying to find a way to do phantoon in 2 cycles. He has more health in this hack. Do you know a way it can be done?
It has at least 10 times more health in this hack
Improvable by about half an hour
Dont need kill Phanton
Earlier
It has been 2 decades...
People just want a easy way I prefer the normal way
Didn't save animals 0/10 :(
Amazing TAS
The same is for resident evil 4
On a jouer trois mois pour battre le Boos 😅😅
Total ass spwnage gg
Why are TAS's starting to get so adsy?
If you're talking about ads popping up, that's just a general UA-cam problem.

Honestly, terrible run. There was absolutely zero OPEN DORRR or UUUUUUUGH in the third room at Space Colony.
