My wife doesn’t understand as I look at this in complete admiration. It makes my car emotions cry this car is so breath taking. It’s beautiful. It’s so shiny. The top looks brand spanking new. It’s a glorious specimen of an automobile.
I couldn’t help but make a couple of comparisons. I’ve only had my Electra for 25 years, and back then I paid $2,097 dollars for it. That was from the dealer who sold it new, and with a warranty, and all the service records that they had on the car. Best car deal I ever made! Buick has always been a great car to have, and thanks, Lou, for a great Buick car story!

My Dad had bought brand new a maroon 1970 Electra 225 2 door coupe with the 455 ci motor and a black vinyl top which never faded. Our church elder had a 4 door '69 and I always preferred styling of the taillights and front grill of the 1970 models to the 1969's. I learned to drive off that car. It was heavy and BIG but boy it''ll get out of its own in hurry and cruise all day at 100+ mph without breaking a sweat. Good luck Pete(and Lou) and thanks for the happy tears in my eyes and bringing back memories of my Dad.
Yes, and In my opinion the pinnacle for *all* US cars, mainly for their serviceability/reliability and high quality of course. About '62-ish to '71 I'd say. And more towards by the late '60s parts interchangabilty was an awesome factor in servicability. Though one thing I would say is by '65-'67 interior materials were starting their downward decline into their pathetic state by the mid-'70s.

Yes! Those chrome wheels with the thin white walls really make this car! The only wheels I liked better were the spoked wire wheels the old Lincolns used!
I want one. My grandparents had a vinyl hardtop 69 Electra 225 in midnight blue with black top. Blue pattern leather and fabric seats. They bought it new, but it was sold after my grandpa died in 1973. I have had dreams with me and my grandparents in that car. When I think about all the classic luxury cars I would want to own, I suppose it comes down to the 69 Buick Electra 225.
My older brother rebuilt a 455 once. He started it without the exhaust manifolds.... OMG was that loud and scary. You could see flames shooting out the exhaust ports. But when he got the exhaust fully installed it was super quiet.
THE pinnacle of US automotive design. Never before or since have cars been this *serviceable,* and never will be again. Had a '69 Duece-and-a-Quarter 4dr., and several other incredible '60s Buicks. Owned ChryCos. the last 25 years but am itching for another '60s Electra or Riviera!!! Though I prefer mine to be daily drivers *w/metal roofs* : ), it's nice to see a pristine one. Wow! Thanks for the video Lou! - Dave
I learned to drive in a ‘69 Buick Electra 225. It was a light green metallic hardtop, not a convertible like this beauty. It’s what my parents owned when I was 13/14 years old and ready to get my learner’s permit. I still remember driving down Hwy 10, a rural 2-lane highway out in the country with very little traffic on it, after dinner early one evening with dad riding shotgun. I bet there was a twinge of nervousness on his part that being the first “by myself” drive in my life. I know I had just a twinge of it myself -with a LOT of excitement to go with it! A pristine light metallic green 1969 Buick Electra 225 was the first car I ever drove. That’s pretty cool in my book!
Really nice Electra. One of the nicest beauties that would be on the nice roads out there. Yes, the heavy styling, chrome, big engine, and black interior make it a real classic. Just like art. Engine noise is classic! Thanks for showing the car without the hood on. Nice, man, John.
Beautiful Buick. Prettier than that years Cadillac Coupe de Ville convertible in my humble opinion. One photographic ad simply showed a '69 Buick Electra. It showed the rear, passenger side, three quarter view of a two door Limited. Parked on the tarmac of what appears to be a small airport with smartly suited businessmen and a private plane in the background. Few words. The style and prestige said enough. Thank you Lou.
Guy has a showroom looking 1969 top of the line Buick, in a convertible too. I love it that he has owned the car for 40 years. Man, he's certainly has taken care of it. Pristine example of how things were in 1969. Man, I miss cars styled like this. The ones today just don't have the looks like this anymore. So much has been lost in car design.
Hi Tommy, "I love it that he has owned the car for 40 years. Man, he's certainly has taken care of it. Pristine example of how things were in 1969." I agree. A treat to be able to share this car with you, Lou

Beautiful! My first car was a 1965 Buick Electra 225. Mine was the exact same color as this one. Mine was not a convertible..and didn't have those gorgeous Riv wheels! Back in the day - still in 1969, when you drove a Buick, you knoew you were driving elegance! Not so much today...they are all SUVS! This one is beautiful. It looks just as if it came off the showroom. the horn sound was great, so was the exhuast. Love these videos. Please keep them coming!
AH....THE CLASSIC BUICK...TRULY ART ON WHEELS! THE COMFORT,ROOM,SIZE,PRESENCE....ALL SIMPLY UNMATCHED! OLD-SCHOOL AMERICAN RIDES ARE SIMPLY THE BEST CARS EVER CREATED! 2018 'CARS' ARE A TOTAL DISGRACE TO PUT IT KINDLY! THIS COLLECTION SHOWS WHAT A MAN SHOULD DRIVE! THIS IS A GREAT CHANNEL, I WILL BE COMING THIS WAY AGAIN! HATS OFF TO YOU, LOU AND GOD BLESS!!

Very nice. Way back in the late 70s my best friend's uncle gave him his 1969 Electra 225 4-door hardtop. My friend wouldn't have a license for another couple years. So he used to just put a gallon of gas in it and drive it up and down the driveway. I'm quite sure it was brown. I don't think I've seen one since. Thanks for this.
Yes these Buicks' are an absolute work of Art. The tapering side lines are beautiful. My particular fave has got to be from 1959, But each to his own of course. Another great car featured here Lou. Keep up the great work. What a gem this is.
When I was still in high school a schoolmate owned a '69 Electra convertible like this but it was black with a red interior, I always thought it was just so cool, always wondered what ever became of it-good memories 😎
Gee whiz Lou, you keep finding these immaculate "classic" cars. You are doing an grand job. Once again, gorgeous colour, amazing interior & just another American built V8. You can't argue with that combination!
David T ? It's actually David Dunbar Buick. He and his partner William Sherwood gain their initial success w/their patent in the porcelain process bonding porcelain to cast iron enabling the company to produce white bathtubs and fixtures for the 1st. time. "Go fast w/ class" for sure!!! Faster than a Cadillac. They erned the title "banker's hot rod" as you prolly know, and since their inception in '03 they were known as the "doctor's car". Good stuff!!!
Lou once again you show a great car! What a beauty! It takes me back. My parents and Grandparents had several . Our first one was about 1974 or so. Ours was a 455 beauty. 4 door loaded! It pulled our 24 ft boat no problem. This car your showing is an absolute beauty! Wow. My Grandparents had a blue one about 1972-74. It was a Limited 225 455 car if I remember correctly. It was a limited , I think it was a special order. It's so long ago I can barely remember. Once again I traveled in time for a moment looking at this wonderful example. A 430 , that's awesome. And the horn is great! Thanks Lou , I just your channel! Take care from Windsor Ontario.
That's a beautiful Buick. I also own a-69 225 convertible and it's quite clean but not quite like that one :) Great color and nice to see that it is so well taken care of. 👍 to the owner too.
Hi Markku Makinen, Glad you like this one :-) Thank you for sharing details about your car too. Hope you see many more cars on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou
Lou Costabile I have a 1968 Electra convertible myself, not nearly as nice as this one but I like it because its condition means that it is driveable which is what GM intended. You always have a great eye for great cars so keep going for all of us who love the classics.
I saw this exact car at the 2013 World of Wheels in Rosemont. I stopped and spoke to this gentleman telling him that my dad also had this exact same car only my Dad's was a light green 4 door.
The 1969 Electra 225 came stock with a 455 engine. This gentleman's car has the 430 engine (like my dad's car) which was a special order engine. My dad use to say the 430 was better than the 455. We had our Deuce & A Quarter until 2010 when we finally had to let it go, but our memories remain. :-)
The Electras came in 3 varieties in '69. The standard, Custom ( the series that came in the convertible), and the Limited which was a 4 door hardtop only.
Yes! I was about to post about the same thing.....only my "Standard Catalog of Buick '03-'90" says "Custom Limited" as one series. It doesn't specify Custom and Limited as 2 separate models. I'm curious, could you let me know where you got this info? Thanks! And to be clear, all cnvts. were a step above the standard Electra. All 225 rag~tops were Custom Limited models. A small minor correction to what you said however, the Custom Limited was available in every body style. The cnvt, Coupe, 4dr. hdtp., AND the 4dr. sedan (w/full center pillar).

You're right. sad fitment of panels. It would idle one day at 1500Rpm and others at 2000 RPM. Sometimes had hard time starting in the dead of winter. I will agree the styling is magnificent.
Do you still own this car? Its a beauty! My friends girlfriends father had one, he bought brand new. It was silver and I think it was a 1973. His girlfriend took us for a ride in it.......... it rode like a dream. Im 62 years old and I remember this like it was yesterday. Crazy
What a GORGEOUS car!!! This Electra 225 would give any Riviera (or even a Caddy) a run for the money! I especially love that front grill with all that CHROME!
My grandfather loved Buicks. He only bought Buicks and he loved the Electra's when they came out. He owned a 68 convertible. Black w/black leather. One hot summer day he took my brother and I out to dinner at a fancy restaurant. I remember freezing in the back seat ! The A/c was huge for the convertibles. It was so cold !.Well, He then traded it in for a brand new 1970 Buick Electra 225 hardtop. Blue with White leather. beautiful car. He wanted a more secure car in his old age I guess. I miss those days.Matt.
Hi Massachusetts Matt, Thank you for viewing and sharing the story of your Grandfathers cars :-) Hope you see many more Buicks on the Channel you'll enjoy, Lou

Interesting factory accessories. The 8-track player was invented by Bill Lear of Learjet fame. His son John - in UFO circles - is equally famous. Like a professional weightlifter, owner Pete needs to squat and thrust when raising that huge hood. Beautiful condition, one of those automobiles where the more you look, the more you see.
GM WAS GETN DOWN!!!!!! As a child, we had this exact car (cloth seats & 4 doors). My mom hit a telephone pole right down the middle of the hood and the poor girl walked away without a scratch on her. I thank GOD by Jesus Christ she lived.

I remember seeing a bronze-gold color somewhat like this on a lot of GM cars in the late sixties. My grandfather's 1968 Catalina had it, never liked that car much. :-)
+Scott Mathews. I had a wonderful 1969 Buick Wildcat 4dr hardtop. It was probably in the color you mentioned - Antique Gold, with a buckskin vinyl top & interior. Bought new "loaded" for $4711 "total"!
+Scott Mathews. Me again Scott! Look at the Buick Riviera in the background. I believe my '69 Wildcat was in THAT color, Antique Gold!!! "Ach du lieber, mein freund"! "Gesundheit"!!!
A classic Buick and a fine one at that. Near the end of fine cars. If I had a dollar for every time I stopped on the side of the road and opened a huge trunk looking for a certain 8 track tape. A collection of 8 tracks needed a huge trunk. 🤣🤣
Fabulous car, these American cars of the 1960s and early 70s were such a statement on the road, never ending lines and wonderful "presence"" which is still apparent today and always will be. As said elsewhere, they just don't build them like that any more and many American cars now look all the same and similar to many European cars. Many more years of ownership!
power antenna control. the fuel gauge to the right of the steering column.. not a 405, not a 454. a Buick 430! a couple of senior ladies in tacoma next door had this vehicle in hard top when i was six years of age. it was a metallic green. it always impressed me. wow. fantastic example, Lou.
first sir you are commended for keeping that car so impeccable shape my boss many moons ago had one exactly like it he took me out for a spin a couple of times smooth ride
Hey Lou. Lovely looking Buick Electra 225 convertible! I've always loved Buick cars of the 60s and 70s. Probably because my grandparents owned Buicks over the years. :)
I imagine they would be. The last Buick I remember them owning was a 71 LeSabre 2 door. I was too young to drive at the time, but I remember how handsome I thought it looked. :)
@Right Lane Hog The Electra 225 as the pinnacle for Buick/GM was shared with GM’s Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight, and of course the Cadillacs of the great “land yacht” era. I know of what I speak. Our family cars when I was growing up included a pristine gold-mist ‘64 Cadillac Coupe de Ville (same color as Pete’s Electra 225 here) which dad brought home in 1966 or ‘67 when I was 7 or 8 years old. We had it 2 or 3 years when dad sold it and bought a turquoise (“Lunar Green” as Ford called it) ‘68 Ford F-100 Ranger with a big full-size overcab camper mounted on it. Then, 2 or 3 years later in 1971 or ‘72 when I was 12/13 years old he bought a like-new medium green ‘69 Buick Electra 225 - same year model as Pete’s here (which I’ll again mention in passing is the car I learned to drive in - lucky boy me!😊). That Buick was on par with the ‘64 Cadillac we’d parted with only a couple of years earlier but it wasn’t any better. As far as interior plushness, ride, and all around “fine-ness”, they were pretty much equals. But where the ‘64 Coupe de Ville stood apart from the Electra 225 and bested it in my opinion was in the classic sculpted lines of its gleaming exterior that declared with unmistakable bold Cadillac confidence, “I AM CADILLAC”. While there was nothing out there that looked anything like a classic Cadillac (they truly were unmistakable and in a league of their own), Buick’s Electra 225 was more similar in styling to other automotive luxury-liners of the era including the big flagship Oldsmobiles - one of which, by the way, dad also owned for a few years when he brought home a like-new medium-brown-metallic ‘72 Olds Ninety-Eight in 1979. As a side note here, the first car I have memory of riding in (and its a faint, very brief memory) was as a two-year-old getting bounced around pretty roughly when we drove thru some dips in the road at a speed probably a little faster than we should have been going, as I flopped around in the passenger seat where dad had taken his belt and strapped across my lap to ‘hold me in place’ in his brand spankin’ new 1960 Triumph TR3 (I think I remember him telling me it was a sky blue car). But before you go thinking my dad knew ‘class’ when he saw it or was all cool and wouldn’t own what most deem to be “junk”, “ugly dog” cars, or “pieces of crap”, he also owned at times (between the good stuff) these vehicles... 1965 American Motors Rambler Classic (weak, small I-6 powered 4-door gramps version) 1984 Plymouth Reliant K 1984 Ford Tempo 1979 Ford ‘Mustang’ (grandma grocery-getter car that was being called a ‘Mustang’. What an insult to the REAL steeds of the mid-to-late ‘60s and early ‘70s) 1971 Toyota Corona 4-door (this was one ugly, WEAK, P-O-C car in my book. This is the one I ‘borrowed’ from dad on Fri/Sat nights to go to town and “run around” in with friends for several months after getting my drivers license just before I bought my own first car in 1975 (MY car was a pristine 4-year-old, medium {B5} blue with white vinyl top ‘71 Plymouth Barracuda which I bought and paid for using the money I earned working at a local grocery store after school and on Saturdays). All of the cars that my dad bought and owned thru the years were his and mom’s daily-drivers. My favorites were the gold-mist ‘64 Cadillac Coupe de Ville... the medium-green ‘69 Buick Electra 225... and the medium-brown ‘72 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight... all 3 of which floated down the road like big fluffy clouds floating across a bright blue sky on a serene summer day! Of course I much preferred my ‘71 Plymouth Barracuda to any of my dad’s cars - and I was quite partial to my ‘74 Plymouth ‘Cuda 360 which I traded my ‘71 Barracuda for in 1976. That ‘Cuda (my second car) was “Lemon Twist” yellow with black vinyl top, factory black longitudinal stripes running full-length along the top portion of the sides of the car, and had a black interior. Oh those SWEET personal automotive memories we accumulate and carry with us thru the decades and seasons of our lives! Thank God and Lou for this fantastic channel Lou has created for us where he showcases these beautiful automobiles for us to admire ...and to stir up dear memories of days and years and events and people and cars long past...

Understated styling and a smoother than smooth engine. This was the pinnacle for Buick and possibly for GM as a whole.

Boy o Boy, Buick/GM at the top of their game for sure. Such classic styling, will always look great.
Agreed, a top notch car for Buick.

What was cool is the cars changed from year to year. Not like now where the cars look the same. Thank you Lou.
Hi welch shahan, You're right about them changing. You're welcome, Lou

225.....Affectionately called the "Deuce and a Quarter"
srercrcr You know it!!!!
You damn skippy. My uncle had one when I was a kid and I was amazed at how enormous is was.
At 5:36 you'll notice if you read the tag that it still has points and condenser. No cap and rotor on Buick's top of the line in 1969 is weird, I think.

Hi Gloria Davis, Sounds like good memories for you, glad you viewed and shared on the Channel, Thank you, Lou
u mean duce and a quarter
Gloria Davis it is a deuce and a quarter. That's what 225 stands for. Not dude. Lol.
I'm pretty sure she know that, autocorrect is to blame here.
Not a dude & a quarter--------------a duece (2) & a quarter (25) -----=225 lol
I had a 68 Electra 225 convertible chocolate brown met. With a white top. We would cruise that car to the Jersey shore all the time. She cruise 100 mph no problem. And the women loved it! Lol!

My grandfather owned 1970 Electra 225 with a 455 silver with a black roof 4 door hardtop what a beautiful car
Glad this one reminds you of your Grandfathers car :-)
Hi Brian, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your 1st car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou

You're welcome MillerMeteor74.
Beautiful just Beautiful! Keep em' coming Lou and Thank you Sir!
Hi EAGLE 1, Glad to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) You're welcome, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Yes these Buicks' are an absolute work of Art. The tapering side lines are beautiful.
My particular fave has got to be from 1959, But each to his own of course.
Another great car featured here Lou. Keep up the great work. What a gem this is.
Hi JOHNNIE: LORD OF THE MungoidHen PEOPLE, Glad you enjoyed this one :-) Thank you for the kinds words and wonderful comment, Lou
I just fainted this car is so AWESOME
Hi Tony petty, Thanks for the great reaction! :-) Lou
It's 225 inches long hence the name. I really love the '59 and '60's even the 4 doors are a true work of art!
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge.
When I was still in high school a schoolmate owned a '69 Electra convertible like this but it was black with a red interior, I always thought it was just so cool, always wondered what ever became of it-good memories 😎

This is real Detroit iron they don’t make cars like this anymore this is a fine example 👌
Hi AL, Happy to read you enjoy this "fine example" :-) Lou
my dad bought my mom a 1972 225 a big old beast, huge trunk.
Sounds like Dad bought a nice car for Mom :-)
Gee whiz Lou, you keep finding these immaculate "classic" cars. You are doing an grand job. Once again, gorgeous colour, amazing interior & just another American built V8. You can't argue with that combination!
Hi Craig, Happy to read you're enjoying the selection of car I share with you :-) Lou
your car is a total gem.
Hi der mann mann, Well said :-) Lou
Go fast with class!! Who knew what a plumber would start when he built his first car. Thank you Mr David T Buick. 👌🏻
Hi Fernando Arriola
, "Go fast with class!!" I like that :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Hi Gary Gibbs, Glad this one has good memories for you :-) Thank you for sharing your parents had several, they have great taste in cars too, Lou
Hi Cornell Green, Thank you for sharing details on your 1968 Electra, and the encouragement, it's appreciated :-) Lou
Another good way to discover America best by car. Say Chicago to Denver and back.
Fun idea :-)
That is gorgeous!!!!!❤❤
Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-)
Slicker than the Wildcat, too!
:-)
I saw this exact car at the 2013 World of Wheels in Rosemont. I stopped and spoke to this gentleman telling him that my dad also had this exact same car only my Dad's was a light green 4 door.
The 1969 Electra 225 came stock with a 455 engine. This gentleman's car has the 430 engine (like my dad's car) which was a special order engine. My dad use to say the 430 was better than the 455. We had our Deuce & A Quarter until 2010 when we finally had to let it go, but our memories remain. :-)
Hi Curly Q. Link, Fun when you see a car you're familiar with :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Love the car, and the owner should be commended for taking such excellent care of it all those years
Hi Karen, Happy to read you "Love the car" :-) Lou
The horn sound is reminiscent of Cadillac. Beautiful car and well maintained.
I can see Cadillac and Buick sharing the horn's together back in 1969.
Gorgeous car pure class
Well said.
The Electras came in 3 varieties in '69. The standard, Custom ( the series that came in the convertible), and the Limited which was a 4 door hardtop only.
Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge Larry Hawkins, Lou
Yes! I was about to post about the same thing.....only my "Standard Catalog of Buick '03-'90"
says "Custom Limited" as one series.
We had the limited. On trips I rode shotgun, my mom and 2 sisters were in the back.
I was 3 years old .I remember these great cars

You're right. sad fitment of panels. It would idle one day at 1500Rpm and others at 2000 RPM. Sometimes had hard time starting in the dead of winter. I will agree the styling is magnificent.
You're right :-)
Do you still own this car? Its a beauty! My friends girlfriends father had one, he bought brand new. It was silver and I think it was a 1973. His girlfriend took us for a ride in it.......... it rode like a dream. Im 62 years old and I remember this like it was yesterday. Crazy
Hi AwesomeDaddy, I think he still has it. Happy to read this car is like your Girlfriends Dads car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
What a GORGEOUS car!!! This Electra 225 would give any Riviera (or even a Caddy) a run for the money! I especially love that front grill with all that CHROME!

Fabulous car. I'd love one just like it.
High praise :-)
Maybe someday Buick will get back to its glory with other American brands. It would be like starting again as all that design knowledge is lost.
I like that tone the horn(s) made. Need to update those into my Lacrosse ( 2008 ) 3.8 liter.
Agreed, a very classy sound for sure.
Back when #1 of the Big 3 made indelible statements with tons of well fashioned steel and real chrome.... great job on keeping this Buick Electra in mint condition.

Hi Andrew Graham, Did not know that about the 8-track player. Interesting, Lou

Hi Ronnie, Glad you like this one :-) Lou

Happy to read your comment regarding 1960s & 1970s design :-)
power antenna control. the fuel gauge to the right of the steering column.. not a 405, not a 454. a Buick 430! a couple of senior ladies in tacoma next door had this vehicle in hard top when i was six years of age. it was a metallic green. it always impressed me. wow. fantastic example, Lou.

Hey Lou. Lovely looking Buick Electra 225 convertible! I've always loved Buick cars of the 60s and 70s. Probably because my grandparents owned Buicks over the years. :)
Hey Jason, I'm sure your Grandparents would be proud :-) Lou
I imagine they would be. The last Buick I remember them owning was a 71 LeSabre 2 door. I was too young to drive at the time, but I remember how handsome I thought it looked. :)
I always thought this was a beautiful buick
Hi Scott, Happy to read you enjoy the design of this car :-) Lou
@Right Lane Hog
The Electra 225 as the pinnacle for Buick/GM was shared with GM’s Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight, and of course the Cadillacs of the great “land yacht” era.
1965 American Motors Rambler Classic (weak, small I-6 powered 4-door gramps version)
1984 Plymouth Reliant K
1984 Ford Tempo
1979 Ford ‘Mustang’ (grandma grocery-getter car that was being called a ‘Mustang’. What an insult to the REAL steeds of the mid-to-late ‘60s and early ‘70s)
1971 Toyota Corona 4-door (this was one ugly, WEAK, P-O-C car in my book.
