For years I’ve failed to appreciate American iron of this era, but Lou’s videos have set a hare running which is proving difficult to stop. Hats off to Original Parts, Inc. for investing in tooling and stock to support what must be a limited demand for trim and other parts for cars like this. I’d suggest Lou has found the perfect sponsor for his channel.
Lou, this time you hit one of the most beautiful American made cars! This Buick is quite a good looking vehicle!!! In my opinion the U.S. car industry had two world class golden eras: 1927 - 1940 and 1957 - 1970... this Buick represent that quality, good taste in design and adecuate engineering. The pinnacle of car manufacturing!
Now that's a clean & classy car! You know you've got something special when they used houndstooth in the trunk. Thanks for sharing this lovely Buick with us, Lou!
Gorgeous car! I thought that the styling of the '68 Skylark was just about perfect when it was new, and still do. Back around 1986, I knew an old guy from Alabama who drove a like-new '68 Skylark. He was a flamboyant sort, in the manner of Truman Capote or Tennessee Williams, and he told me, "This was my mother's car. It's a Pierce-Arrrow.". Quite a character.
I was 12yrs old and these were what a lot of guys in their 20's and early 30's were driving with gorgeous girls sitting beside them. I was so envious! ✌🏻😉
LOU, MY Main Car Man! Wow! Wow! Wow! This style Buick I remember oh so well! But NEVER, EVER have I seein this GS Model, or this WONDERFUL Color. Color me IMPRESSED! I use to think this style was so Unique comapred to other cars of this time. Most of these had the GM 350 cu in. I know you know them pretty weel Lou, see if I can snag this beauty up for $3995. The same price when NEW or about $30K in todays money. ou are one Lucky Man Lou. And Again I can not say enough how much I/We appreciate you bringing us these Beautiful CLassics. Well Done Sir!
It doesn't seem that long ago all my neighbors had the Olds, Buick, Chev, we laughed at Japanese models in the early seventies. I rode all day long in my grandmothers '64 sedan deville, until they ordered a Gold w/ white top '72 Sedan deville, they went back to Detroit and picked it up off the line as it came out.
To my eye the grey almost takes over the green until u get close enough to see its true color. It's a very subtle green. I like the Tarpon Mist green, it's good all in all. I really like the look on the side, nice shape n the back doors around the windows are nice, smooth. The transparent green tinted glass is great. The hood to this Buick is real sharp looking. I like the look of the markers lit. Excellent car n vid, thanks!
Hi WickedFireFly13, You're the "Master of the Detail" and then you share that gift with us by sharing what you see. Such a treat to read your comments. I've said it before,, I was there, and you share things with me I would have never seen. Thank you for sharing, and you're welcome, Lou
Thank you for these wonderful videos, highlighting these wonderful classic cars. I've had a few myself through the years, but unfortunately for various reasons, had to let them loose. Wonderful memories these bring back. :)
very nicely optioned and trimmed old Skylark. I don't know if the Electras were that fancy in '68! clean and original too. my grandfather had a '69, pickle green 4 door skylark back in the 70s. but it was no where near this nice!
Yeah OPG, just like everyone else, treats Buicks like a red headed step child. Chevy SS on top, then comes Pontiac GTO, then Olds 442 and, as an afterthought, Buick GS. But many that 1968 is a beauty. That color is fantastic.
Stereo Wow'dom going on here. Gorgeous car and love the chrome accents. The color has kind of a pearlized effect for that color, does it not? Of course actually being there makes all the difference. At any rate I love it! I'd drive this Bwick with pride! :-)
Hi Recovering New Yorker, Thank you for viewing, sharing and I believe you're going to see many more cars on this Channel you'll enjoy. Hope you Subscribe, and hit the "bell" so you can see all the cars when they are uploaded on this UA-cam Channel, Lou
nice GM, was always good at those blended colours that looks like a green with a bucket of silver in it to make it pop well we got some ordinary cars in Australia in those days GM may have had a real hit with that here back then that tail it really looks like one of those cars that can go faster backwards than forwards NICE ASS.
I much prefer the 1970 GS, but in any year, it's better looking than a Chevelle. Very pretty color. The dash seems to be quite deleted. Clock delete, idiot lights instead of gauges, and the temp controls seem to be missing stuff, too. Love the hoop shifter. My main complaint is the trunk mat and tire cover look cheap. They just don't fit right. Otherwise, very clean car, sounds great - but just isn't my year. Still great coverage. Cheers.
You never see a Gran Sport in this color! Nice find =) I don't think those wheels are correct for it. I think it's supposed to have the Buick chrome road wheels.
Hi Ima fan, Glad to read you appreciate the effort to find the right car for you to enjoy :-) Not sure about the rims, maybe a Buick Expert can share knowledge, Lou
They are absolutely correct and we're optional in '67 and '68. If you wanted Rallye Wheels with disc brakes, these were the only option. They were option V6 and coded N66 on the build card.
