@@CaptChrisCanning I love that I a normal person without a boat can go out and apply what you have taught us using techniques for where you were at the time. I get no one wants to give up their honey hole, but Skyway is accessible to everybody even those with disabilities. Which make these videos “weekend warrior candy”
On the east coast we do our rig differently. We have two treble hooks coming off the swivel so you can keep the bait upright to swim naturally. you can add a third hook as a stinger if you like. I probably will make a video of my rig and then link it to you. I have fished that Skyway bridge before and I know you will have more success with the rig I am describing.
Gators are always number one Danny, you know that! I am not so sure about Mike White anymore, though. It was a good day, but it could have been better if that king fish came through
You need to run that blue for a king. I run a different release system with 140 pound wire, so a big blue won't pop the release off. I have ran up to 3 pound blues. As long as the water isn't too hot, they swim.
It's fun i did it a few years ago and got two big kings to hook up but both snapped my line. I used pig fish for bait. Them kings can make a reel scream!
Cool video. So, does the cloths pin stay attached to the trolley line until you get a bite? Also, why not just use a 7500 spinning reel and cast the bait out?
Hey JC. I am also sub to your channel. Your vids are great. To answer your question, the clothes pin usually won't pop off until you get bit. Sometimes too much weight can cause it to pop loose. I use a different type of popoff but they all work the same. Casting is fine but the trolley has several advantages. First: it keeps your bait in place regardless of wind or currents. Second: it keeps most of your hardware out of the water and allows you to choose less depth with your bait. Third: kings as well as most fish, can't resist that wounded bait struggling right at the surface. Have seen them sky on the bait.
So looks like that new Okuma got a workout, here’s a thought y’all are sending a single bait down the line what would happen if you sent a heavy duty sabiki type rig with live baits down there ?🤔
Went out with some friends looking for some spanish mackerel on memorial day and couldnt hit anything. Any advice for times to go? I was using a RX-8 rapala lure with an ounce weight about a meter up from it. I am new to fishing in saltwater. haven't had a good fishing trip sense I moved here and now I'm moving away soon lol!
i will be down fishing on the Skyway in June, what is the best fish to target? this will be the first time i have fished there. BTW beef jerky is the best fishing snack
Dude beef jerky for sure 💯 stay tuned, maybe I’ll swipe some jerk for the boat. In June you can target tarpon with pass crabs. Mackerel with a spoon, be sure to checkout my how to catch Spanish mackerel video
Doritos, pretzels, cliff bars. I like to eat wraps on the boat ( less space and less mess) and water for the day, along with a mtn dew to start the day ( but it goes back into the cooler if I don’t finish it to drink with lunch). My dad has actually had a sandbar shark pee on his cool ranch Doritos, then he kept eating them.
I swear out if the 10k people on that pier, you guys are the only ones catching fish. Instead I'll go to Boca Grande park. Great fishing there and it's just down the road from the Skyway

Gotta love those big pilchards, and nothing wrong with some hard fighting bluefish in the mix! 🤙
I love Pier fishing 🎣 I love using artificial luers for Pier fishing 🎣 and metal Jigs and Tady Lures spoons and different shiny reflective luers 🎣
For the goliath we used anchor rope and swivel to 3/32 cable and a giant hook. Used a tire inner tube tied into the anchor rope as a shock absorber.
Glad I found your channel through rad reel. Love your channel brotha
Hey thanks for joining Alan! Looking forward to putting out more 🔥 content.
Awesome video Chris. Tell joshy poo That Gators are #1 😂. Glad you guy's had a great day. God bless.

Can you use circle hooks on stinger rigs?

I might actually catch something off the skyway now lol! Great technique and video chris!
Nice bluefish Chis, you guys should definitely try again
I wish we woulda got the right bite there, though. Thanks for watching Marcus 💯💯
I definitely gonna have to try fishing for kingfish. Better luck next time guys!
Thanks for watching brother! We will be out there soon again to get the right bite.
What kind of wire do you use? Or do you use 7strand?
Hello, I'm called the (Eight Rodd Banditt) 🎣 but my real name is Cory, thanks to you for the videos! 🎣
Nice man!I saw a couple kings on the beach today... No luck tho
What were u using?
Mackerel on a stinger on the kayak
Dang... no bites either! Guess that’s why they call it fishing 🤷🏻♂️

Honestly, I have never thought of that but would definitely give it a try. that Okuma needs go get an even bigger workout
Good video. Please try again
Hopefully we will go out there this week and try it again! Thanks for watching Josh!
What is the best area to fish at on that South side of the bridge?
Find the rock piles and fish every single one! You’ll find ones that you enjoy fishing 😊

@@CaptChrisCanning will do, thanks Chris, I have never caught a tarpon but it is on the bucket list, would love to hook into one of those.
Grouper will be popping too!
No problem 👍🏼
Hey - FYI ID The Fish when you catch it and ID the name of the bait you are hooking up.
That rig seems to work like I told Josh I never heard of it before
Now we just need the right bite Chris.... I think we are going back out there this week. Fingers crossed
This is sweet! I want to try it. I think I’m going to try to get out there and troll in the yak and see what happens too haha
I would love to go do some trolling in my yak too 💯 thanks for watching Brother

Yeah, I'm not so sure about that Chris, lol! The pier is hard fishing these days. As you can see in this video..... lmao! Thanks for watching my man
@@CaptChrisCanning yes it is. I don't go there anymore. It's probably the toughest place to fish in Pinellas Co from "shore"
"paper clip" haha
😅😅😅😅💀

Damn... you kinda have a point there 🙄🙄🤣🤣
Look on the bright side Josh, he could have named one Josh! lol

I want to fish
Instead of a snap swivel try a shower curtain ring.
Im bringing a grill
We might next time!
