Thoroughly enjoyed the video. Used to fish the skyway all the time back in the late 80's early 90s before you could drive on it. We would park and fill up a couple of shopping carts and walk them down as far as we felt like. Spent the night all the time and caught just about everything. Half a dozen trolley's, half a dozen shark rods, grilled out and had big boy drinks. During the fall we had college football on the radio all day and night. Something about the sunrise and sunset on that bridge. Brings back some great memories. Thanks.
It was a pleasure learning the trolley rig from the expert himself! It was unfortunate that we weren't able to get the right bite! Maybe next time, What do you guys think? Another trolley video soon?!
Was out there Thursday, super windy, on top of it had an idiot in a boat that kept getting into peoples lines , it ended in a highly confronted verbal attack, I will be bringing a newly purchased wrist rocket from now on , caught 3 mac’s and missed 3-4 got cut off , had on a king but no way to get him up .
My pops used to keep a 3 oz weight on a penn surf rod and smack boats that came to close to his lines. After breaking a windshield on a boat once, they moved quick. I hate the boats around the piers lately. They have the WHOLE center span to fish. They are just lazy googans.
@@aaronhiggs we have an influx of people moving in to the area and you can tell they are from the self absorbed states. No care for anything but themselves.
I use this rig all the time at the skyway! Great vid! Wish you guys got one. Hate to say it but from my experience over the past few years, the closer to the end of the pier you set up, the chances increase to snag a king. Also, unfortunately, many people know that and camp out there. Another way to snag a king is on the outgoing throw out a diving lure. Keep the great content coming!!!
Hey John, the ends of the piers increase your odds but I have caught countless kings in that very same spot over the last 20 years. Kings are pelagics and move very fast through the area. 👍
@@Saltyscales you've had better luck than me then, but great to hear! Guess I'm going to have to take that secret spot of yours next time I'm out there, haha!
Dued catch a smaller size blue fish or Spanish and throw them on the rig. 💯 percent game changer trying to hook up. A nice tip to see your bait all the time is to attach a bright fishing cork on the line that slides on your anchor rod.
Neat rig Josh. Thank you for explaining it! I'd like to see you go back and try again. If you get a Big king how do you get it up on the pier? Very nice to learn new things from you. Congratulations Now that it is Definite your over 100k subs!!! 🎈🎂🎈 Be Well and God Bless ✝
Hey, I am no skyway wizard but can you still catch snapper and grouper during the spring and for the trolley rig could I try and use a pooping cork bobber and a thread fin
Hello Josh, excellent video, especially if you want to cast your bait far, Have you tried this rig on the Beach? I will try it on surf with 14 ft rod as anchor what sinker weight you used and what weight used on trolley?
I would rather eat that bluefish than use it for bait. People say bluefish is nasty to eat but it is actually a good eating fish. I grew up eating bluefish from chesapeake bay.
I was so intrigued with the video footage that I almost forgot to comment. Awesome video, I learn so much from your channel!
Glad you enjoyed it 😊

My uncle used to fish it the same way. Thanks for watching and the comment. 👍

You hooked them up. Leggo for round two.
Nice breakdown of the rig and nice bluefish
Thank you Pablo
YO josh is one of the best trolley rig video please make more

Wasn't too good but we had fun.
Yessir skyway vid the best!

This was a great video. thank you
Hope to see you guys someday
Come say hey if you do!
Good blues

This is my favorite place you video at...I love it so much because I go there twice a year.
Skyway is a cool place for sure. Lots of great potential out there.
Thank you for all the info on the rigs. 👍👍
Love your videos man. You're the perfect person for helping most the people out there that have no clue what they're doing.
Appreciate that bud, try to help when possible.
I was there Saturday got my first 20”grouper on a 2oz blade crank bait!
Nice work 💪
Love this. I've caught a king from a boat but not the pier before. Like like a blast.
It's a ton of fun for sure!
Great video
Thanks Frank 👍

I'm not sure what is up with the ahole boaters but common courtesy is DEAD.

Awesome video Josh 😎. More Spanish mackerel please... 😂
I have some fire mackerel videos coming.
Great vid.. I'm headed there soon..
Slick set up bro
Round 2 for sure
Stay tuned 👍
*First Off... Congrats on 100k Subs My Good Sir! Next... That Trolley Rig Is Ingenious... it's almost like like a Kite Rig in reverse... Nice!* ..gw
Exactly, it is deadly on the pier.
Great video and footage very nice well done 👍
Thanks
Congrats on 100k!
Thanks buddy 👍
Classic burn on Chris. Never heard of this rig before but it definitely seems cool. You guys should definitely try again
Had to lol. It's been around a long time but the rig is very effective.
Crushing it. Congrats on 100K!
Thanks 👍
Congrats on the 100k josh!

I was just out there with family and we caught a couple really decent size Spanish mackerel
Sounds like you had a good time.
I never heard of this rig before it in very interesting how it works
Very effective and usually has a very high hook up percentage.
I'm going to try this in San diego and I'm from the burg.
It will work 👍
@@Saltyscales it will work for big Bonita and Yellowtalls. Maybe a tuna.
that little blue would be lunch
👀
I paint all my pins, weight, etc. O.D. green , big difference. (Wal mart) 🐟 🌴 👍

Thanks, Dino, we will for sure try. A dip net or treble gaff on a rope works well.
Hey, I am no skyway wizard but can you still catch snapper and grouper during the spring and for the trolley rig could I try and use a pooping cork bobber and a thread fin
You can catch grouper and snapper now. Never used a popping cork on the trolley.
Ho its 100k bro congrats
Hope we will get the winner soon
Thanks
I would like to see you fishing for king fish
Just a dumb question. After to catch something. How do you get the line with the clothes pin back? Or it it lost ?
Hello Josh, excellent video, especially if you want to cast your bait far, Have you tried this rig on the Beach? I will try it on surf with 14 ft rod as anchor what sinker weight you used and what weight used on trolley?
will the kingfish still be around in June?
No sir, not in the bay.
Too late in the year. I think they are gone by Mid May.
@@aaronhiggs yes sir
Great video. What size cast net would be best for casting from that pier? TIA
10 foot 3/8 mesh
So how do you recover the rig ? Nice video
You can use a sand weight or tie-off rubber band six feet above the snatch hook.
What do you use for the anchor on the anchor rod?
How do you get the trolley back up after your line pulls out of the clothes pin
Do you have a specs of your rods
I need tips on how to get bird's nest out of my Bait caster
Checkout my baitcaster playlist 👍
I just recently got the mojo inshore 7’6 bait caster I’m wondering which bait caster to get I’m thing about the picifun ajios
It is a good budget reel but not one I would personally make my primary reel.
Who makes the black and red reel?
20k ppl on that pier and I bet they are the only ones catching anything there 🤙🤙
We were all struggling on this day lol. Good times!
@@Saltyscales it's definitely not what it used to be out there
@@MetalRush666 I can personally attest to that. Very sad indeed.

Always called that a pin rig
Pelican fishing
That spot probably too shallow for kings
I have caught kings there for the last 20 years. 👌
That spot ISN'T to shallow. They hit all up and down that pier.
@@Saltyscales I've caught Kings up and down that whole pier. The ends the easiest, but they are pelagics, they hit all over that pier.
@@aaronhiggs for sure, they follow the bait. Chum and they'll come.
Congrats on 100k!!
Thanks, Adrian, stay tuned for that giveaway!
