Me and the wife took a trip to Orange beach Alabama last week. There for 4 days. Surf fishing was insane out that way. Seen tarpon in the surf but weren't feeding. Caught smacks, blues, hard tails, Jacks, huge lady's, sight casted black tips... Everything caught on silver spoons. Had to switch to steel leaders since we lost like 8 spoons the first day. It was a good break from Galveston surf fishing. Wish it was that good out here.
I hooked about 200 lb mako right there where you are fishing while fishing for kings. It ran about 200 yards, made a jump, and broke me off. Being from Texas, I thought it was a blacktip, but the regulars swore it was a mako. It took awhile for it to sink in, but it did have a pointed snout.
@@Patrick-yh5yd Not sure at alll. Only going by what the regulars on the pier told me. But, it was very possible it was a mako since they caught one the night before - The were in.
What kind of baitcaster setup do you have? When do you prefer that over a similar size spinning setup? I have a 7' 2" duckett with a kastking Spartacus plus. Works great for bass and inshore from the boat and bank but would love to use it at the pier. I have 30 lb 8 strand powerpro on it.
I fish with a 7ft medium heavy spinning rod and 2500 reel. Im looking to catch some kings not the big ones but the medium sized ones in the summer. What leader pound test would recommend? If i were to use fluorocarbon.
What I want to know is what rod you and that guy that caught the shark were using? Your big blue rod is what I'm interested in knowing since it looks good! I'm looking to buy me a surf rod that can cast far and have good tip and backbone. Thanks if you could help me!
Are you allowed to purposefully fish for sharks on the Pensacola pier? I'm not from around there but I do go on vacation to the area and I've been wanting to catch a shark down there. I've already tried Navarre but I just had a bite with no hookup.
I'm only half way through the video but this is dope bro! I was just out in Pensacola about 2 weeks ago fishing the pier. Most of us threw LYs and Hardtails I couldn't hook up to save my life. When I did hook up I had a baby shark take the Avet for a ride. Not suppose to be shit it was fun lol.
Lol I just loose big fish last week, it was right close to my hand as I tried to grasp it. Somehow, the fish loose itself from the hook and gone. I still think miss those time. Oh well, glad to hear your reply.
People like to use wire, but I prefer 30lb mono or fluoro, id even beef it up to 40 or 50lb mono or fluoro. Wire is very visible which makes the mackerel very finicky.
Thanks for the speedy reply. Do you spool your reel with 30lb mono and tie your lures with that or do you add another stronger line at the end? Sorry if I sound repetative but I am super novice and have learned quite a bit from your videos. Thanks
Love you're vids man , I actually live in Houston I had no idea you could catch Mack from the Galveston pier ! What type of line do you use for your baitcaster if you don't mind me asking ? And what lure should I start using to try to catch Mack at the Galveston pier
+RagingFish 10 to 20lb braid, the best lure is a gotcha plug man. The spanish aren't always around though, the water has to be green and clear for them to be around in galveston. Thanks btw!
This is why you use a anchor rod with a spinning reel and use a conventional reel on a fighting rod with live bait and a trolley rig attached to the anchor rod..
Not really. Your anchor rods get in the way when anyone has a smoker on. When I used to fish Kittyhawk Pier, I had a much higher hookup ratio than the set rod combos by freelining a live mullet or menhaden or snobbling a dead mullet or menhaden than the set rods did. Most of the videos you are watching on here are summer videos...our smokers run primarily in the spring going to Texas and again in the fall, heading back down to the Keys but all through summer we have smaller Kings with the occasional smoker still here.
@@feralgoat3771 idk man, I have caught kings on a 4000 size setup. I even caught a king on a baitcaster. You will be fine on a 6000 size reel if you work the drag right.
How is that guy on the corner a D-head? He clearly was trying to duck down so you can pass, maybe stop blaming people for loosing your catch. You don't own the pier and if you don't like people around you than stick to your surf fishing.
What's the biggest King you've caught? Favorite King Lure?
4 foot king. My favorite lure is a big xrap. Hey can we meet up some time to fish? I'd love to fish with you
Down for next time I go to pensacola.
Nice fishing trip.had knee surgery hope to be back out there soon.
hope all is Well! Knee surgery is tough!

+Orale Fishing nice man, the water is so much better out there. Galveston is cool for specks and reds, but that's it. Get anu vids bro?
Orange Beach, Perdido Key, Pensacola are goated locations to fish. Absolutely my favorite spot to go to for salt water, in-shore fishing

Andrew's Fly Fishing wow I bet that was insane! How long was the fight?
Just long enough for him to run and make a jump. I was fishing with kingfish tackle so I didn't have a chance.
dang that's sick af! Someone just landed a 12ft hammer here on a Penn senator 14/0.
are you sure it wasn,t a spinner shark?
@@Patrick-yh5yd Not sure at alll. Only going by what the regulars on the pier told me. But, it was very possible it was a mako since they caught one the night before - The were in.
Nice video. I too am from Houston. Haven't been to the Pcola Pier in a while. I sure need to go back!
+Andrew Jones its was pretty nice, not a lomg drive either.
This one was pretty cool man....plus you put it in my head to travel and fish 😁😁😁😁😁😁
Awesome footage as always brother!
+keenan price Thanks bro!
Nice vid, them Florida boys are spoiled!
Too spoiled, they said that emerald water is super dirty... In galveston, emerald green is a gift, an extremely rare phenomenon.

Was that a power stick rod you had when you lost that king? I’m looking to get one
Yes it was
@@BeachBomberFishing im guessing that’s the 9 foot one that can cast 1-5 ounces. Perfect for a broke boy like me.
Dope man, I don’t see you use the daiwa ballistic and daiwa sp 7 ft on your newer pier fishing any more? Why is that?
I fish with a 7ft medium heavy spinning rod and 2500 reel. Im looking to catch some kings not the big ones but the medium sized ones in the summer. What leader pound test would recommend? If i were to use fluorocarbon.
Hey bro I have a daiwa saltist what will be a good pole to put on a 10" or 12" surf rob
What size saltist dawg?
6.4.1 40 line

What was that lure you was using that had the pink in it
that's a shimano pop orca pink silver size 90
Awesome trip!
+Guillermo Turrubiartes again!
Next spontaneous trip, go to the keys, 7mile bridge/bahia honda..you wont be dissapointed!🐟
blownZ713 My homeboy just moved to matathon key and is trying to get me to go down there for tarpon.
Where do you fish most the time.. are you in Texas
I am from Texas. I try to go to Pensacola every year.
Nice videos man! I'm from around here but it's cool to see someone recording from the pier! Liked and subbed man, I'm just starting out 👌🏽
Awesome man, thanks!
Crazy how you came across my video
Cant beat florida fishing, i work down in florida maybe 3months out the year. We go to the piers here n galveston and its just not the same..
+blownZ713 Yea, I'm ruined now lmao
Another, great video!!!

+TheBassTimes I had tarpon spit so manu hooks over night, i wad getting super frustrated. Overall, the fishing was exciting
How do you over come emotional when you loose your big fish?
vsonic86 Gotta suck it up and keep going. I was mad af cus the guy just didn't want to move.

vsonic86 Yea dude i hate when i lose a fish upon landing lmao. Oh well, it happens to the best of us.
Did you see any big kings or Bonita being caugtb
nicholas mastrilli saw 1 big king in 3 days, but no bonito..
What type of line/leader would you recommend for Mackerel fishing? I'm learning so much from your videos!
People like to use wire, but I prefer 30lb mono or fluoro, id even beef it up to 40 or 50lb mono or fluoro. Wire is very visible which makes the mackerel very finicky.

I use 10lb braid as my main line on my small baitcaster, 20lb braid on my bigger bait caster.
I use up to 60lb fluoro for kings, I've never had a problem. I niece the stealth of the fluoro over comes the high visibility of wire.
@Will Price never had a problem with mono or flouor only use wire when I'm trolling
Love catching and eating king M... Florida has nicer pier and bigger fish than California..
Damn man, I'm out of Pensacola FL, wish we could've gotten together. Good luck on the rest of your trip though homie
+KvartekMedia Thanks man, apparently we got stuck with bad weather and dirty water.
Beach yeah it happens man, perks of living in Florida I guess right ? 😂😆
KvartekMedia lmao i guess so
Damn man, classic comment!
You should go to Navarre when the cobia are around
I wish I could go
Epic bro!
Jack Newberry Thanks!
I always like how there is just always one fish on the pier just flopping around and no one cares
I threw a bunch of remoras that were still alive. Some people have no respect.
Good shit bro!
We need to fish
yes we do, I can fish any afternoon next week. let me know if you can meet up.

A 6ft king! Damn.

Not here on the north Florida coast, you don't. We'd gladly give you directions to the Alabama piers, though.

Dang no birdsnest lol
