- In this video, Capt. Joshua Taylor and myself head to the skyway fishing pier to do some fishing. We wanted to target Grouper, Tarpon, Snapper, and Sheepshead. Our secret bait for the skyway is how we maintain our success out there year round. To find out what the secret wait really is, you're going to have to watch the video and it'll show up. We had a great time out out the pier, meeting a couple subscribers, and catching some fishing. I used those small blue crab for Bull Red fish and grouper. And sand perch for snook. On sheep head I usually used soldier crab. Used to live in St. Petersburg, FL. from 1990 till 2008.
Good stuff, tough bite but it was fun.

I dont go out to the skyway much since I live in NewPort Richey. I usually hit Dunedin causeway, anclote pier/park, and arapeka area.

It's nothing like at home you literally can scoop up crabs for bait we have to buy them but it was a great video good quality and action footage of Josh catching sheepshead

Chris Canning Usually I would go to Anclote Pier, but since I'm down in Pinellas I've been able to try new spots. The last spot I've been fishing at was right off of 275 next to the Howard Franklin Bridge. I'm hoping I can have better luck here!

@@CaptChrisCanning I'm up in Missouri, we go and stay in Spring hills for a few days visiting my wife's family the hit Panama and that is where I do the majority of my fishing using a friends surf pole that I take with me. I am planning to put together my own pole for FL that will also work with the big cats here.

Hey man nice video . What's running out there in December ? I've got a couple okuma bait runner reels . With 30lb trilene big game mono . Can't afford to spool them with braid yet .
The locals have told me about these gag grouper out here and I want to put these bait runner reels to the test . Any tips or advice for an out of Towner ?
The grouper are crazy! You have to get your bait out to them without the dolphin getting you bait first, that is the hardest part. I personally like an out going tide!

When my fishin buddy n l go sometimes he hooks fish n some times l get them. Always fun to have a buddy with ya. Last time we went l hooked a 4 foot allagator gar.

My secret bait for sheephead is whole barnacles on a hook . just gotta easily work them on the hook. Catch them one after the other . use to fish the horse shoe flat off of skyway on the st.pete side .

Great video Chris. I've been working on my sheepshead fishing...are you just casting out/freelining shrimp or are you fishing the pylon for them?
You can do all of the above! Depending on tide etc....
