  • Jim Carrey is planning to take a step away from Hollywood. While discussing his new film "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" with Access Hollywood's Kit Hoover, the funnyman revealed that he's "probably" retiring from his career and is "fairly serious" about it. "It depends - if the angels bring some sort of script that's written in gold ink, that says to me that it's going to be really important for people to see, I might. I might continue down the road, but I'm taking a break," he said. Jim added, "I really like my quiet life, and I really love putting paint on canvas, and I really love my spiritual life, and I feel like - and this is something you might never hear another celebrity say as long as time exists - I have enough. I've done enough. I am enough." The 60-year-old also opened up about his bond with his grandson and reflected on his friendship with the late Bob Saget. "Sonic the Hedgehog 2" hits theaters April 8.

I think the last part of that did it for me. “I am enough”
I feel like a lot of celebrities keep pushing forward for the next biggest thing. Many celebrities has said they’re never happy, they want more. Maybe that’s how Jim started out, young and ambitious, wanting the next biggest thing. Then somewhere over the years he got in touch with his personality and spirituality and now realizes he’s enough. He doesn’t need any more of it. At least this is what I’m choosing to believe off his statements, might be a stretch though ha.. An amazing entertainer, I wish him the best and thank him for what he’s shared with the world.

For me when he said I’ve had enough, I’ve done enough that was understandable but then he said “I am enough” it sounds like he’s trying to say that the people have seen enough of Jim Carry and now it’s time to move on to the next big star. 😢there will never be another Jim Carry.

I can't stand a self righteous hypocrite , especially when it's in the form or a yte man. Jim Carey has been SILENT with regards to all of Hollywood's aka his extended families pedophiles, racism, sexism and the RACIST history and current racist affairs of Oscar's but now they're not the cool kids anymore? So it's ok for yall to make violent movies but when a human behaves as a human does! You want to cry ? Stamp your feet complain ? If this isn't the epitome of privilege. Amerikkka loves their whites docile , meek and kind. They don't care if you're violent at your own awards but how dare you bring that to THEIR house although their houses have been filled with white washed Graves for eons

    Dear Mr. Carrey,
I woke up this morning to find this video on my feed. I’m not gonna lie, it instantly hurt me in my heart with a couple of tears shed, slightly of happiness as well though.
We grew up watching you, you amazed us, you inspired us. I remember you had a phase with the nature of the universe, a magnificent realization to the whole of us who were actually happy you had those revelations. Why? Most of “us” are already fully aware of that, and we’re happy that you have opened your eyes since then. But mostly, I am happy you get to leave an ignorant background behind as well. I’m wishing you well with the rest of your career: your own job to satisfy yourself only from this point further, you have done more than enough, but we’ll never have enough of you. Thank you for all the great times, the great lessons, and the deeper messages we get when watching you. Perhaps you can find comfort in the idea that some of your audience were on the same page as you the whole time. I truly hope that the golden ink will find its way to you.
    Thank you for everything.

Not so much as a genre per say, but he had influenced scripts to the point of the writers typing out the action/description lines of "Jim Carrey acts as himself", which would give him free reign of what the character would do. Carrey doing improv to fill in gaps of script for movies? See how hard that is to classify. It's just Jim being Jim. That's all there is to it, and as he said, it's enough

Finally. Another person that realizes that their job or career doesn't have to be forever. It doesn't have to be dragged out to the nth degree or until they dry up or look tired. Get out and enjoy your family and friends. And do something for himself that's different than acting and being part of Hollywood until your mansion crumbles to the ground and you come out at 90 with cobwebs on your back just to say you acted for life over and over again. I'm sure the whole thing gets tiresome after a while.
    Good for him.

It's fascinating reading about the actors that quit after saving money, buying a ranch and just retiring with their horses, or quitting and going into furniture sales, fashion, teaching, or just totally dropping out of the scene and becoming a bus driver in a small town.
Or some just love doing the fan circuit after they find acting too much. Wikipedia is amazing for information or even connecting with retired actors. Some are very receptive to chatting! Some do a few big movies or shows and are happy with the money they made and meet with fans..with other actors. It's cool. A lot of child actors leave the industry to find other careers too.
I met the child from the movie The Brood and she is still involved with fans and is very proud of the movie but has no interest in pursuing more acting. She is still part of the fan circuit! She said the other actors were really good at teaching acting too. Very patient. She loved doing that movie as a child.

This interview showed Jim Carrey as a father than an actor. He seems like a great father as you can see how proud he is of his son, literally shows that his son is his real pride and joy and I feel like that's a quality that many parents lack now a days. Goodjob Mr. Carrey !

I will enjoy you and celebrate your genius right now while you are alive and well and not until I hear of some bad news. You are a living legend. Thankyou for all the memories and quotes I will keep quoting for the rest of my life with my friends. ❤️

Great person enjoyed watching the artistic performances through out my life. Inspired me at younger age to be more outgoing. learned to be funny in own way and not to be afraid. I started by imitating Jim many times getting reactions out of people. By far my favourite comedian and have done enough in life to inspire many. Family is number one.

He has grown and learned so much over the years. He’s not the same hungry actor who will say yes to anything just to make a movie. I wish him peace, love and true happiness with his family and friends, doing what makes Jim happy. What a remarkable man. Selfishly, I’ll miss seeing his fantastic movies, but knowing that he’s doing well is the best gift for everyone. If he’s ever made you smile, smile from this interview where we really got to see the true Jim Carrey. 🥰☺️🤗

Grew up on Jim Carrey - Ace Ventura will forever be a comedic icon for those of us who lived through that era.
But I have to say as someone who never watches these kinds of shows - I really appreciated how lovely this woman was and how deep her relationship with Jim seemed. Excellent interview.

I love Jim ... not just because he's a fellow Canadian, but his Soul seems to shine so brightly lately, and I can't get enough of his expressions. I hope he doesn't stray too far from the public eye, especially now. He's needed more than ever, and with that new found or released wisdom he humbly carries with him... just so valuable and so needed. Thanks Jim and thanks Access Hollywood for this wonderful spotlight. Much love and blessings!

It’s so good to hear him talk about what brings him happiness, and continues to create. 🎨
(Although I can def see him making a comeback as a cooky old man, how could he resist? Lol) And he would do amazing in a Dolly biopic. 😸 💕 Either way, he certainly is enough, has lived more than one could dream as it is, and deserves what gives him the most peace of mind. 💜 Much love
