I live in Buffalo and Jim actually came here regularly as his family is close to the border. He's always so genuine. He asks about YOU. Family good? Friends? Man those Bills are kicking ass! Great guy.
"You do not have the right to walk up on stage and smack somebody in the face, because they said words" I loved that statement from Jim, too true. Ricky Gervais said something that has stuck with me for a long time, "It's ok to laugh at bad things and not be a bad person."
@@millymillymilly Regardless of how "offensive" they are, unless they're accompanied by action, they are literally just words. You can talk shit back or stand up for yourself but offensive violence is not justified. Words are not violence.
As soon as Tiffany Haddish opened her mouth, I was immediately repulsed. I can always count on her to say something extremely ignorant. Her condoning violence is no surprise to me. I completely agree with everything Jim Carrey said.
She has said horrible things about others. She needs to sit down because the only reason she has a career is because of the people who surround her. On her own, she is talentless.
Remember when all the critics called Jim Carrey "OFF HIS ROCKER" and "CRAZY" for telling the truth about Hollywood a while back? Well, he is still telling the truth, and he's sounding more and more sane by the moment.
That's nothing. They had Kat Williams arrested repeatedly on a series of trumped up charges. When a mob boss offers you money, you don't get to say no. The money isn't a reward... it's a bribe, a test of loyalty.
Giving Will Smith the night's biggest prize just moments after he committed an act of violence on live tv was slap in everybody's face. privilege of " famous" people is hilarious and disgusting

When good people dont stand up when bad things happen, then even more bad things can happen fast. I notice it is the non-Americans that instantly condemn and say "violence are not an acceptable answer", whereas the Americans are the ones afraid to speak out. The Russians did not speak out against POOtin when the slowly chipped away their freedom and now they lost freedom of speech, a free press, have a juridical system controlled by Moscow and money, POOtin now regularly kills political opponents with poison and STILL the Russian people stay on their enslaved knees. Maybe Americans should consider if they too, need some more democracy! 1 man 1 vote automatically for all legal Americans, no electoral college, no legal bribery laws, sorry lobby laws (that juridically would resemble bribery in any other Western ally democracy) a revision of the press, so the situation where over 90% of Americans get majority of their news, from sources not under journalistic responsibilities gets fixed. USA deserve a multi party democracy and the ability to vote for some they like, rather than the least worst option. With the lobby laws and only two parties, both parties and key politicians have sold next period legislation to corporations even before the fist voters arrive at the boot. It is beyond me, with the massive amount of evidence, that POOtin puppet plump are not at Guantanamo right now. WE MUST prevent a foreign adversary to ever again take over the White House. HAD it not been for Covid POOtin would have invaded Ukraine while plump where in the WH 2 years ago, as he originally planned. POOtin´s job off course would have been to create division amongst our allies and inside USA and ensure no weapons or support were going to Ukraine. POOtin right now have instructed his lying state media to quote FOX and especially Tucker Carlson. He sent a memo about it 2-3 weeks ago. Not the most reported fact in US either. WE and the Russian people deserve better! That ANY clapped at Will Smith, should show us all, something are completely off, with the spines and value sets amongst to many.
Jim Carrey I have always loved as a comic actor but I know he has had some personal trouble that has put him bad in the spotlight at some point. But with this I have so much respect for him not as an actor and comedian but as a person. He is one of few performers to tell it like it is while maintaining honestly and humility. Well done Jim Carrey. Please don’t retire. We need you in the media now more than ever!
I’m probably the biggest Jim Carrey fan, but what he said was nothing but hypocritical despite it being the truth. He still has the mindset of an entertainer and still thinks the way most celebrities do. That’s why I can’t take him seriously when he says this
Jim is a legend, people will remember him as one of the few that has the balls to speak against the industry he works for, but with the intent of better change in mind, he is right, all these other people are spineless because they don’t want the system that benefits them so much to ever change, despite being the morally right thing to do. Mad respect for Jim
Jim was all for socialism at one point.... everyone in the world needs to wake up to the fact that every one of these regarded actors are all slaves to a fucked up system and they embrace it, making them just as bad if not worse. theyre all black mailed one way or another, someone has them all by the strings and have to do whatever their pullers want....jim carrey, as talented as he is or was... is no exception. if he was really about speaking out.... the whole industry would crumbled one domino at a time
What precedence are they setting up here? The DA can come in and press charges without Chris. It was the slap seen heard around the world. I never really cared for either of them, but Will needs anger management and community service. They should revoke his membership, too bc there are by-laws of non violence in the contract. By the way, if my child hits someone bc they didn't like what they said. Guess what, she's grounded. My job is to make sure other people and myself don't resent/ hate her - and the same with society. I love actors but some of Hollywood or actors in general are followers. Unless it's scripted they will follow each other so their next job isn't jeopardized. The ones who clapped for will are those people. I saw some people not clap when he walked up. Those people have balls. He wasn't embarrassed. The look on his face said look what I just did and you idiots are clapping for me. Which sends the message to him he is inferior. And that he can do whatever he wants. If he was really sorry he should have apologized onstage and called Chris's Rock back up on stage. Apologized to him and the audience for changing the mood of the evening. I'd say he ruined the entire awards. He needs to make a big donation to some charity and pay to have a public apology to Chris Rock televised.! And he needs to pay for it. And the way they hugged after he did that. They should have called the police and had him in cuffs publicly televised.
Agree! And hope you noticed or was shown the clipping of Jada laughing and clapping at Regina Hall's joke about Will coming on the stage with single men (with Jada's permission).
Yes! Not a huge Jim Carrey fan but it’s a relief to hear someone in Hollywood saying this is wrong & calling out the spinelessness of the others that then gave standing ovation - yuck

Finally, someone not condoning will’s attack. He’s a human and needs to be treated as such, people need to stop treating celebrities as if they were above the law. Edit: when I say "finally someone" I meant "finally a celebrity". Carrey is the only one that said he should have been arrested. My bad.
I've seen nothing but negative comments about Will Smith since it happened. The audience applauded for him when he won. Since then all down hill for him. Public opinion wise.
I love that last interview with the lady in gold. I genuinely laughed when her take away from the incident wasn't the physical violence, no, it was the offensiveness of the joke. 😂🤣 Oh Hollywood, never change.
I’m not condoning Will Smiths actions one bit but in reality if a man tried to publicly humiliate another man’s wife in front of that man in public, he should probably be prepared to fight that man. Once again not condoning it. But let’s not act like if you talk smack about a man’s wife, especially one you’ve had words with before, and not get slapped in the face I could argue that YOU are the privileged one 😂
I'm glad to see some actors are calling Will out. What he did is inexcusable and no amount of spin is going to change that. I truly hope he comes out a better person for this.
Glad Jim spoke his mind and told the truth. He also pointed out how awful the audience was for giving Will a standing ovation after he clearly was not sorry for what he did.
I admire Jim Carrey because he speaks his mind without worrying about what others will think. His words often resonate deeply with people. For example, when Will Smith hit someone on stage and many people rushed to his defense, Jim Carrey expressed his honest opinion, which encouraged others to speak out as well. Jim Carrey's talent is undeniable and he truly is a genius. As they say, "With great power comes great responsibility." But in Jim Carrey's case, with great humor comes great responsibility to make us all laugh!
As a comedian himself, this must've struck Carey as almost personal. Comedians are used to getting heckled, booed, insulted, and criticized for bad jokes, but they shouldn't have to worry about being assaulted. If you're too sensitive to take jokes, don't attend events with jokes and comedians.
The thing about this whole situation is that Will thought the jokes made about his wife were funny. It's only when he realized that his wife got upset about what Chris said which lead to the whole slap incident. Will handled this poorly, I will not deny that one bit, very cowardly and unnecessary

Will said later as he accepted his Oscar, "love makes you do crazy things'. No Will, it does not. Anger makes you do crazy things. Jealousy, greed, bitterness and mental health issues can all contribute to that.. But love, no. Love is peace, acceptance, accountability.

Because women just looooove a guy who lets other guys insult them. The double-standard in these comments is hilarious. If a guy on the street insults my wife, he's going to get his ass beat. Only get physical if they get physical, lashing out like a child, and being unable to control you're emotions makes you pathetic. Being a man isn't about letting emotions control you, but rather about controlling your emotions, and not letting others get under your skin. All of this is also ignoring the fact that Will smith lets his wife sleep with other men, no self respecting person would let the person they're with do that.
Apologizing in a letter is different from swallowing your pride and having the guts to apologize personally. Will Smith took the easy way out (for the sake of good publicity) and he even walked back the apology a bit at the very end of his written statement. I am very disappointed in him. He will pay a price for his actions, which will forever be a part of film history.
If he apologize in person people would “the apology is fake”, If he apologize in a letter/statement people will say “he should have had the decency to apologize in person”, If he didn’t apologize at all people would say “he could have atleast apologized in a statement” The point is don’t kid yourself it’s nothing Will can do to make it right, So stop with what he could do now, It’s nothing he can do now to change how people feel.
Hey at least Will improved the ratings this year. The whole thing was about to go down the tubes otherwise. I kind of think the whole thing was planned anyway.
I stand with Jim. I remember a time if someone assulted someone they got escorted out and possibly arrested, now you get an Oscar. No wonder children are acting out, look at the example adults are setting.

Jim Carrey is exactly right. Chris Rock should file a lawsuit on Smith and the awards show. They watched it happen and did absolutely nothing.
1 man 1 vote automatically for all legal Americans,
no electoral college,
no legal bribery laws, sorry lobby laws (that juridically would resemble bribery in any other Western ally democracy)
a revision of the press, so the situation where over 90% of Americans get majority of their news, from sources not under journalistic responsibilities gets fixed.
USA deserve a multi party democracy and the ability to vote for some they like, rather than the least worst option. With the lobby laws and only two parties, both parties and key politicians have sold next period legislation to corporations even before the fist voters arrive at the boot.

Yeah, right. I'm sure if you were walking down the street and some dude started laughing at you for being fat or bald or something... you'd be hoping your husband just looked away and did nothing. Because women just looooove a guy who lets other guys insult them. The double-standard in these comments is hilarious. If a guy on the street insults my wife, he's going to get his ass beat. That's how 99% of guys in the world feel. To expect celebrities to act differently because they're celebrities is just stupid.
@@McScott76 Bruh if a guy insulted your wife you wouldn't do nothing. Someone insulting you on the street is different than a comedian making jokes. Plus you can't hit people just because they said something you don't like. You can tell them to screw off for sure, but that's it.
@@McScott76 Ones a comedy routine and ones some random stranger trying to start shit. 2 different things.
@@McScott76 it's amazing that security let some guy wander in off the street and joke about Mrs Smith like that.
Agreed and it’s possible his publicist wrote that and released it, if Will had some real balls he would have gone on screen and apologised
Strongly agreed, Will and his half-assed apology man 😒

Well, this is the same people that have celebrated Roman Polanski and Harvey Weinsten, or look into what how John Wayne and Clint Eastwood were fucking assholes to this native American woman during one of the Oscars back in the day, and yet they are both considered 'legends'.

The fact that they gave the man a standing ovation after sucker-slapping a fellow performer speaks volumes about the crowd.
If Will was white it would have been an entire different story.
Not everyone was standing. Most had the good sense not to escalate it even further.
HollyWoke condoning violence is a new low even for them. Common thuggery attitude on display.
Just another ordinary day in Hollyweird... 😏
And some had the nerve to console Will like he was the victim.

I haven't watched the Oscars in many years. I used to watch it every year, I was into it, and I watched the nominees movies, etc. Hollywood has fallen so far, in many ways. I didn't even know the Oscars were on this weekend until the assault went viral. It's privilege; you can't just assault someone (millions of people watching), and then be able to stay, and accept an award. It's disgusting. He should be ashamed. He only issued a "statement" on IG to save face, he didn't mean it.
But you talking about it now right. You entertained right. We talking about how we never hit nobody right or done nothing wrong right.
I agree with everything you said but I don't know if he meant his apology or not. I hope he did.

Also, Chris is smaller, would he have done that if a bigger guy was up there? The Rock perhaps? Ahhh no!
How can anyone like Will Smith?
You guys are fuckin high. If you’re smaller, why say something then lol. So if you’re gonna hit someone, don’t do it if youre not bigger? This is what you are projecting, that basically you all are cowards so you presume Will to be and look at his actions through that lens😂. He’s a hypocrite himself. While BLM burned cities, people killed, injured, he tweeted his support, no kudos from me.
Hollywood has always been spineless Jim, it's good that you have finally woken up to that fact.
The saddest thing about this is on a night that Will Smith should have been celebrated for his Oscar win, he will be remembered for this horrible loss of control and lack of judgement. If he wanted to stand up for his wife, which is great, he should have confronted Chris backstage. I'm sure when he got up from his seat, he truly thought (if just for a moment) "I'm going to be a hero and stand up for my wife in front of millions of people." Instead, most (not all I'm sure) just see him as a bully that made a fool of himself.
He's a hero in my book. And any man that would not do the same for his wife is a coward....
If you would've watched any of the after party videos you would have plainly seen how unaffected he was while he was dancing to music from his old album. Not a care in the world.
I concur.
My man was enjoying the joke till jada pressed him into going up there

WHERE WAS SECURITY?
No such thing as bad press, as their agent tells them
Respect to Jim Carrey. Everything he said is unbelievably true to some. An assault like that is not a light matter and people should stop making excuses for what Will Smith did. It was so disturbing that even us watching it on tv have been affected in a very unsettling way.

finally, someones saying with rational and right judgment.
Simply said and spectacularly accurate. I was in disbelief that Will was not removed from the event and in fact received a standing ovation for winning an Oscar. Unbelievable.
what's more shocking is that they had a discussion on removing him from the event (I think CNN reported that), which means they fully acknowledged how bad it was and had to have concluded something like "but it's Will Smith, let's let it go"
@@AndrewDaniele87 That makes it even worse....I can't help from recalling OJ Simpson's Super Star status kept him from being held accountable for his domestic abuse of Nicole Simpson Brown on the occasions when police were called. One would have thought we would have learned to hold people accountable for their abuses regardless of their Star status after that blunder. Nope-not Hollywood.
His award is worthless now..
These people are sick..
I was thinking the same thing..
Jim Carrey was keeping it 100% and I'm here for it. He wasn't gonna let anyone steer the conversation and narrative.
He will be now labeled as RACIST.
Jim Carrey is exactly right. Chris Rock should file a lawsuit on Smith and the awards show. They watched it happen and did absolutely nothing. If that happens in a nightclub or a bar you get thrown out and in many cases banned forever from that bar. Looks like the academy awards show has way lower standards than a beer joint.
Hahaha didn't see it that way...hm, you're right
we were talking about this today! at the lowest bar here where we live, violence won't be accepted and you will be thrown out. the "academy" is the lowest of the lowest, the pus haha
And now, Chris Rock will have to tighten up his security at venues he performs at. Will Smith just gave everyone the green light to attack comedians if something one of them jokes about is deemed offensive by anyone in the audience. Great job, Wills!

Sickening was the perfect word. Everyone involved in the standing ovation was sickening. His "apology" online was both cowardly and sickening. Blaming his "sad childhood" was SICKENING ( omg how old are you now? Like 50? Grow up). Watching your first reaction of laughter was SICKENING! Guess what Will Smith? The world outside of LA could care less about your childhood or your sicko marriage.. could be because the rest of us are deeply concerned about the minor little problems happening in the real world. I honestly don't think Chris Rock knows what alopecia is let alone that Jada is afflicted with it. Not many people have even heard of it, or known there was a word for it. It's finally official now. Liberals bow & scrape to black & celebrity privilege, freely offend/threaten others but feel entitled to violence when they feel offended. No wonder blue precincts are awash in record high violent crime, murders, assaults, rapes. Per LA law someone can be arrested for assault whether or not someone presses charges.
