That’s Edgar Winter on Saxophone. This song was released in 1989. Tina was FIFTY years old when this song was released. She was inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Once for her early career with husband Ike Turner and again for her solo career that she began in middle age. A true icon.
Edgar Winter is insane in the best way! If you're not familiar with his work check it out, he absolutely fucking rules. Sings like a southern preacher, funks with both a full-size keyboard and a sax strapped to him, drumsticks in his backpocket, and rocks to hell and back. His older brother Johnny, who just so happens to be a blues legend, is fantastic too.
Tinas passing was truely a massive loss for the world, but thankfully all of her magnificent music will live on forever, she's easily one of my all time favourite artists! May she rest and rock in peace!
Awesome. I got to see her live a few times. Such energy. She was all over the stage. Always an amazing show. She went through some really tough times early in her career but she came through with grace and dignity. Such a great role model. Thank you.
Powerhouse is a great word for her. Powerful voice..and a STRONG woman of great character. A survivor of brutal domestic violence. A savvy businesswoman. Famous for her voice, of course, but also for her HUGE stage presence and the unbelievable energy of her performances. . Also, famous for her……legs. 😉
She, Jimmy Barnes and Diesel, recorded this for the Rugby Club. She shot a video there and sang live at Rugby competition. Jimmy was so scared to do the song with her because he can't dance. She whispered to him to stand still and she would make him look good.
Interesting fact , Early on in her solo career she had her legs insured for 2 million dollars ! I was a teenager in the 70s , I've been to at least 200 rock concerts ! I saw her in 1993 when she was 54 , Talk about mind-blowing entertainment ! That concert made my top 3 favorite concerts of all time and it still holds that spot ! She was a force to be recend with ! RIP TINA 🙏
Oh ya, and this song as awesome sax solo too!! Thanks guys for doing this one! My Mom(RIP MOM) LOVED Tina. When she was having a bad day,she would pop Tina’s album on and just dance. Sometimes so hard the record would skip lol!💙😇
I just saw the stage musical of Tina’s life (TINA) and this was the finale. The entire audience was on its feet clapping and singing along. By that time, you were almost convinced you were actually watching Tina up there. If you get a chance to see the Broadway Touring production, GO! So good.
Sad that we lost another one of the greats recently. Tina Turner was the "Queen of Rock 'n' Roll". She spanned over 6 decades of music. She started out with her husband Ike & had some great hits such as "Proud Mary", "It's Gonna Work Out Fine", "River Deep-Mountain High" & "Nutbush City Limits". But she had even bigger hits when she went solo such as "Better Be Good To Me", "Private Dancer", "We Don't Need Another Hero", "Typical Male", "I Don't Wanna Fight", "GoldenEye", "It's Only Love" (duet with Bryan Adams) etc.
Tina Turner is one of a very few artists that sang almost every note in a vibrato. That's what gave her that unmistakable sound. The moment she sings the first note of any song you KNOW that it's her. You'll have to react to one of the live versions of "Proud Mary" - I recommend the Wembley Arena version that was performed in 2000.
Tina Turner was the first black woman on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine but the honor of the first woman to grace the cover of that esteemed publication was Linda Ronstadt.
Yep, Tina sure was sassy, and oh what a voice... she was an amazing woman all around... gave me chills watching this, after her recent passing... Thank you for this...
Tina Turner wasn’t just a great musician, singer, writer. She was a trailblazer for black women everywhere. Her life with Ike was never an easy one. Yet she still accomplished what y’all have said. She’s a hero to all women in the musical industry as well. Out of every song she had ever performed, SIMPLY THE BEST, had always been my favorite Tim’s Turner song. Proud Mary is a staple song and a huge favorite ad well.
What's Love Got to Do with It" is a song written by Graham Lyle and Terry Britten, and recorded by American singer Tina Turner for her fifth studio album, Private Dancer (1984). Capitol Records released it as a single from Private Dancer in May 1984 and it eventually became Turner's biggest-selling single.
If you like the Saxophone you need to check out the European Queen of Jazz Candy Dulfer. Candy is a Dutch jazz and pop saxophonist. She is the daughter of jazz saxophonist Hans Dulfer. She began playing at age six and founded her band Funky Stuff when she was fourteen. Her debut album Saxuality (1990) received a Grammy nomination. She has performed and recorded with Hans Dulfer, Prince, Dave Stewart, Van Morrison, Angie Stone, Maceo Parker and Rick Braun and has performed live with Alan Parsons (1995), Pink Floyd (1990). Candy Dulfer and Dave Stewart "Lily was here" 1984 would be a great place to start.
When I was in High School 10th Grade, Spring 1966 Tina Turner preformed at my high school. Banning High School Wilmington, CA. She was still in "The Ike and Tina Turner Review" with her abusive husband Ike Turner. She was just moving away from her very early R&B style into a more powerful turn of her career. That concert was incredible !!
Hello guys, you should react to this same song when she sings it as a tribute to Ayrton Senna, 3 times Formula 1 world champion. I think the concert was in Sydney, Australia. There are videos of this music on the internet. Another spectacular concert is the same song live in Amsterdam. Amazing, both videos.
This was around the mid 80s. Although the music of the 80s, in general, is mostly bubblegum pop, and these songs are not her best, Tina still adds a magic to vocals. Her heyday was the late 60s into the 70s.
Tina had. One of the sexey est Sax players for years.Find the song love thing she is hot in that one. We dont need another hero from the Mad Max movie be on Thunderdone. There are so many great songs like duets with David Bowie, Bryan Adams Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones, and so many more . Styles in music and fashion, she had it all. Break all the rules, fun song. The Wildest Dreams Tour, the sax player, is on fire.Bars, we can see your feelings for barbells. it's in the way you look at her. NICE ❣️
Try Tina first hit record river deep mountain high the stones & the Beatles introduce her to the British when she performed live the speakers where to loud to record in the the studio
Firstly, to address the elephant in the room: Tina absolutely hated this video. It’s weird, creepy, and seemed like a nod to beastiality. She hated it with a passion. Wasn’t responsible for the concept or the editing. If you don’t know the Tina Turner story, here’s a brief synopsis: she was courted by singer Ike Turner to join his band. The union was platonic at first. They later got married where he abused her mercilessly. Surviving a suicide attempt; having a gun pulled on her by Ike’s former girlfriend (who afterwards shot herself); and threats by Ike to hire a hit man to kill her. She found the courage to divorce him -giving up her right to money, homes, royalties, and everything she is entitled to under the law. Walking out of court with just her stage name, Tina Turner (real name: Anna Mae Bullock). After working the hotel and club scene for a few years, she went on to stage one of biggest comebacks in music history at the age of 44. The music industry was not keen on signing a middle aged black woman who insists on doing rock music rather than the standard RnB. Her manager compiled a video collection of remakes including the Beatles’ “Help.” But it was audience reaction to her roaring rendition of Al Green’s “Let’s stay together” that sealed the deal and led to record company green lighting a full album. That of course was her historic Private Dancer album. Tina mostly did rock or rock inspired music. That’s how she earned the moniker “Queen of rock.” The aforementioned rendition of “Let’s stay together” is a must listen. You can’t explore Tina Turner without watching performances of “Proud Mary” from the 60’s and 70’s when she was with Ike. “Fool in love,” “Nutbush city limits,” and “Shake ya tail feather” were other hits from that era. “We don’t need another hero” is truly epic. “I don’t wanna fight” from her 1984 biopic is amazing. The song “why must we wait until tonight” is seriously underrated.“Private dancer,” “Typical male,”Better be good to me ” “Goldeneye” (from James Bond) were all hits. But as you’ve picked up from this song, Tina’s sound is a vibe. Even the songs that weren’t big carried that special Tina vibe.
She’s said in interviews that this is her favorite video. She wanted the horse because she didn’t want the song to be just about another person, but anything we wanted it to be. The liked the song having a competitive sport vibe. It was used for an Australian rugby campaign
Her concert at Wembley in 2000 at age 60 was absolutely amazing--check out anything done live at that concert!

Tina accomplished many things in her life, but one thing I think few Americans know, is that she was the icon of Australia's National Rugby League.
She, Jimmy Barnes and Diesel, recorded this for the Rugby Club. She shot a video there and sang live at Rugby competition. Jimmy was so scared to do the song with her because he can't dance. She whispered to him to stand still and she would make him look good.

Tina is simply the best at everything she has done💛

Tina Turner is a true LEGEND
There is a version of this song Tina Turner and Jimmy Barnes. They sang it together to promote rugby league in Australia.
I was lucky enough to see her in concert…my mother and I went and I’m telling you she was absolutely ELECTRIC onstage!!! 🇨🇦🖖🏻
I hope you will drop more Tina Turner in the future.. greetings from Germany

Tina foi uma força da Natureza! Linda. Com certeza o céu está em festa.🙏🌹🇧🇷

Growing up in Australia this was our rugby grand final song. Tina Turner sang this at our Aussie superbowl.
Yep, Tina sure was sassy, and oh what a voice... she was an amazing woman all around... gave me chills watching this, after her recent passing... Thank you for this...
Our pleasure 😉
She was a dynamo on the stage. Listen to Proud Mary. Tina could dance ,,,

This song was used as the anthem for the Australian rugby league back in the day

Definitely listen to What You Get is What You See
She was in her 40's here and still had the best legs in the business.

Those legs!! She was known for those iconic legs. She had them insured for 3.2 million. She was simply the best
Saw “Tina.. The Musical on Broadway “ PHENOMENAL show…The story of her life and music!👏👏👍👍👍❤️💕
The best way to get to know Tina is to react to live performances (live 1993 the best)
She was 51 at the time of this clip ... Talented and gorgeous.
Queen

Add this comment to the list of people suggesting Tina's version of Proud Mary.

Also, a woman who was still regarded as a "sex symbol" in her 70s.
This is late 80s!
You 2 know this song...come on!!!
You should check out her duetto with italian singer Eros Ramazzotti. It played like non stop few years when it came.

And to think, she didn't have her first solo hit until she was in her 40s.
