Susan became a Mega Star. Deservedly so.
I watched this live on TV when this happened and I must admit I had tears in my eyes when she was finished. One of the greatest performances ever!
I've seen it many times and I still have tears. She has done well, and even sang a duet with her idol, Elaine Page.

Susan Boyle herself has gone onto great stardom with several albums, a performance before the Queen and she is now worth millions. From all reports, she has always been a sweet unassuming woman and remains that to this day. But she was already a legend in her hometown, everyone knew she could sing as she did but had never done so outside of there. My favorite judge reaction here is from Amanda as she crooks her finger when Susan sings the word "shame". Because as a professional singer, Amanda knows this song. It's a very famous song from a very famous musical. And she knows that word, starting on a low note than rolling into a high note, is the toughest part of the song. When she crooks her finger at that moment, she's anticipating Susan will crush it, and when Susan does, Amanda gives her a standing ovation.
My favorite moment of this video is when she can't hide a quick little smile just before she starts singing. I read later that she was used to being snickered at back in her village before she would perform at karaoke in pubs, etc. Susan knew EXACTLY what was about to happen in that auditorium.
I had a boss who used to do that with talent shows on cruise ships. She showed us a video once, it was amazing and hilarious.

Susan still performs. Lives in the same little house that she has lived in all her life. When not working on her music, she helps out at the village shop.
She is an example of honesty and integrity. Her humility and down to earth way is her nature. She practises her faith.

Her debut studio album, I Dreamed a Dream, was released in November 2009; it became the UK's best-selling debut album of all time. She's put out many albums since then and has quite the following.
I have watched this many times and it still gets me chocked up and emotional everytime. Such an awesome and powerful voice.
she achieved her dream of becoming a professional singer my nan was a big fan and we took my nan to see Susan Boyle live which she loved we sadly lost my nan last month and at her funeral last week we play Susan Boyle on entrance and exit of the funeral service. Everyone thought this one was a joke, especially Simon. And then she started to sing. One of the biggest surprises since Britain's Got Talent started. Since this start, she has come a long way to realize her dream. She is a very popular singer now.

I seen this live when it first hit the tv, and it makes me proud to be Scottish, knowing she only lived 7 miles from me, she was amazing and have seen this over 500 times but still brings tears to my eyes.

IMO "Les Misérables" is the best musical score ever written. Every song is just amazing and Susan sure did it justice.
Watching this, it still gives me goosebumps and makes me cry all these years later. Her voice is so so beautiful.

“I’ve always said that before BGT, I was like an outsider looking in,” says Susan softly. “Life was quiet, I looked after my mother until she died. Money was exceptionally tight, I used to fret as to how I was going to pay for gas and electric. I lived hand to mouth. I was happy and I had wonderful friends and family but I just knew that there was something missing in my life.
“I promised my mother I would make something of my life before she died. My inspiration for going on the show was to try and change my life for the better and also meet Piers Morgan,” she continues. Susan Boyle is still an active recording artist signed to Simon Cowell's label Syco Entertainment. She has released eight albums in 11 years and continues to perform, tour and appear on popular TV shows around the world.
Simon Cowell became her manager and you would not recognise her after her makeover, she became famous in the UK and got to sing with her idol Elaine Paige. She now has many albums and made millions, but still lives in her little village. You have to listen to her sing WILD HORSES fantastic! The judges often say on the show they are waiting for a star that has that Susan Boyle moment.
One of my favorite BGT 1st auditions ever! Another favorite is the 1st audition of Charlotte and Jonathan. A real must watch. And also have a look at the 1st audition of Amira Willighagen from Holand's Got Talent.
The song "I Dreamed a Dream" is from "Les Miserables" - my all time favorite musical. It is set in the time leading up to and during the French Revolution. It is sung by the character Fontaine who is a single mother because she was used by a man who she thought loved her but he left when she got pregnant. She tries to do her best for her daughter but through a series of events is reduced to becoming a prostitute in order to pay for her child. So she sings about "I dreamed a dream in times gone by, When hope was high and life worth living" and ends with "I had a dream my life would be, So different from this hell I'm living...Now life has killed the dream, I dreamed". She is a very tragic character.

I saw Les Mis for the first time in person last year and it was life-changing, it was such an amazing experience. I've had season tickets to the theater for a couple years now, and that show was the one that blew me away the most.
From the moment I saw her walk on stage, I knew she would be something special.
Susan had many struggles in life, many ups and downs. An amazing voice.
I never get tired of watching the jaws drop and eyebrows go up.

In all fairness the group that did win - a dance group called Diversity - are EXTREMELY famous in the UK and still play sell out arena tours all around the country. But that’s not to take anything away from the global success Susan Boyle achieved.

She has performed for the Pope and the Queen of England, just to name a few of the notables who have been in her audiences. I would say she has gone on to great success. Oh, and by the way, she got an opportunity to do a duet with her idol Elaine Page, who is one of England’s most honored stage performers. She is extremely talented and Susan held her own wit Elaine. One of the most respectable things about Susan is that when she became the global superstar she remains, she never became a pompous, strutting, arrogant entitled diva. If anything, she became even more humble, more sweet, and displays an attitude of gratitude to her fans. She is grounded, real, and such a sweet woman. That makes me love her even more!!!! One doesn't have to become obnoxious, vulgar, and contentious as too many entertainers are, to be a legend. Susan proves that decency, kindness, gratefulness, and meekness can bring a person quite far in life. She is the better example to point young girls to than the trashy acting stars in America!

Suzan Boyle made it big after this audition. She came second at the end of the show and was signed by Simon Cowell. Since then she released 8 albums I'm told. Wooww!

After years of taking care of her mother until she passed this totally changed Susan's life. Some of it wasn't so good because the instant fame was hard on her mental health. However, she achieved her dream abd is now worth millions.

the reason i say this, is that susan is now multi milliomare, but still lives in the same house, basicly what we call a 2 up 2 down modest little house, she spent a few quid of her wealth and had the kitchen done.

Boyle also has a very fragile personality suffering from periodic nervous breakdowns. But Simon Cowell had great faith in her and after she recorded her first album with his company, he sent sent he sent her an advance check in anticipation of sales. The check was for 9 million pounds (about $11 million).
She has asbergers
Her "periodic nervous breakdowns" were finally diagnosed as 1st and foremost that Susan was on the autistic spectrum, and secondly I believe the diagnosis was bipolar. Once she was put on the proper medication, she no longer had any so-called nervous breakdowns. Unfortunately, she was like so many people that had never received the proper help. Just an FYI.
....what an apropos last line she sang...."but life has killed the dream I dreamed" however, I believe it was the following year(2010 or 2011)that she had the greatest selling album in the English speaking world!
When I see this Susan Boyle audition, it also reminds me of the Paul Potts audition from 2007 singing Nessa Dorma. Both of them were amazing singers and an unexpected surprise when they performed.

Now guys, what would you say about a video that’s had in excess of 74 million views which stars a ten year old singing to an audience of 15,000 people who stood as one to give her a standing ovation? Well, her name is Amira Willighagen & she won Holland’s Got Talent at the age of nine, without having a single singing lesson. Her voice is powerful but Angelic. She is pitch perfect & has a vibrato that seasoned singers would envy. Whatever she sings, she does so effortlessly, so, how about a reaction as follows.

Grandma? She’s never even been married. I’m 62 and I’m not a grandma. Don’t judge people by their looks or age which is what Susan’s audition taught people.
After this audition, she took second place in season finals and she has been very successful since. Worth about 20 to 30 million now.
It's still great to see Susan with her audition 💖. There is another surprising performance by a duo, Simon and the audience thought oh no what is this until they started singing. That duo is definitely worth watching/listening to, I saw they've already been mentioned in a reaction the teenagers Jonathan and Charlotte are amazing . What we have to remember is that she spent her adult life caring for her ailing mother and admitted that at the age of 47 had never been kissed a very sheltered life so much more amazing is the incredible voice xx
I love this video of Susan on BGT and I get a little emotional every time and see and hear this. What a simply stellar voice. You should check out the Finnish group 'Nightwish' with their Dutch singer, Floor Jansen at the Wacken Open Air Festival from 2013 as the headliner in front of over 82,000 people, doin their song "Ghost Love Score". It's called Symphonic Metal and believe me at almost 70 years old and raised up around Southern Rock, I'm NO metal head, but my kids got me listening to this about 4 or 5 years ago and I love this genre. When I thought about metal I always thought screaming , grunting, loud noisy guitars with an absence of melody anywhere to be found...this is not that at all. It's a combination of symphonic music and metal music with great story telling. Their singer studied vocal music for six years in Contemporary pop/rock music, Musical Theater music and Operatic music. Floor Jansen is the most versatile singer I believe I've ever heard. So give a listen to Nightwish, "Ghost Love Score" the official live video from Wacken 2013. Great job on the reaction with Susan.

Les Miserables is where she said this is from. its a sad song about how their life didnt turn out the way they wanted. At a later date she gets to sing a song with Elaine Page... the woman that she aspired to be as famous as. It was so heartwarming to see someone's dream come true.
