This song was written, and first released by CCR. She and Ike made this arrangement together, and preformed it together. She continued including it in her solo career.
Actually, Ike and Tina didn't come up with their arrangement. Ike didn't like CCR's Proud Mary which Tina wanted to do. But if you were to check out Sonny Charles and the Checkmate's version, you could see where Ike got the arrangement from.
Thanks 😂 for educating these guys, when the guy started going on about Tina writing the song after a struggle with substance abuse it was clear he was unfamiliar with Tina and unaware of CCR. This song is legendary and still captivates new audiences, I can’t imagine what it would be like to see this performance live ❤
Proud Mary was originally a Credence Clearwater Revival song and this was it's most famous cover. Tina Turner used to do this with Ike Turner before they split up because he was an abusive wife beater. (literally and well documented). Tina had the chutzpah, the durability and sheer talent to then become a superstar in her own right as a solo performer. Vale Tina!
Proud Mary was a paddle wheel riverboat on the Mississippi River. Song was written and released by John Fogerty of CCR in 1969. Tina and Ike covered it in 1970.
Tina Turner was 61 years young when did this performance at Wembley....incredible. By the way, this is an old John Fogerty song he wrote, and his band played it....Credence Clearwater Revival.
Lucky to have seen her in concert 3X... This is the same level of energy she gave to her fans... You're spot on, her endurance is jaw dropping, .. how did she do it? All I can say is she had a passion to be herself, and given what her life was before her return as a SOLO artist, she was making the real Tina known to all who loved her... She gave her everything at her concerts, she loved the freedom, she loved the energy we gave back... I cried at her last concert tour.. on one song she introduced by saying she'd do it in a way she never does, "sitting down".. but when she sang "Let's Stay Together" one of my favs, the tears came, because I knew I wouldn't see her in any more concerts... She had a tough life, & even worse, painful marriage... Tina said that at 1st, she didn't like "What's Love Got to Do With It".... But it grew on her, and thanks to a sweet new married life... She learned that "Love" had EVERYTHING to do with it... Gone, but never forgotten, an inspiration like no other... Thnx for your heartfelt reaction... PEACE!!
Hi guys 😃❤ just fyi, this song was originally done by CCR (Credence Clearwater Revival) that's where the blues elements come from. But Tina made it her own! And I have always felt she had the best legs in the business! Jlo and Fergie are close ... but Tina could move!! 😊❤
I was there, Wembley Stadium right in the small section in front of the stage. Amazing concert. Her energy was something else. Lionel Richie was the support act that opened the show
This is a great cover of this song! Tina was one of the most dynamic & energetic performers. The original "Proud Mary" is by one of my favorite groups CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival). Hope you will check out their huge library of songs.
Saw her in Auckland NZ . . Amazing . . RIP Ms Tina . . . Thank you ma'am for creating memories for so many . . Far beyond what you ever would of known . . . 💐💐🙏
This one wasn’t written by her but she literally made it her own and sung in her own way, which is so incredible! AND this wasn’t even the last song of the night!! She did a couple more before she ended. I recommend her encore number Nutbush (which she did write) from this same concert, she is fantastic here and when she hovers over the crowd on this extendable arm it’s so great to see!! This entire concert was just pure joy and energy. Tina and her band were just so great live. So much love for our dearly missed Tina 🧡
Tina was a great singer putting her all into each performance. Yes, she could dance. Home Free Butts Medley and Listening to the Music. Great reaction.
The Rolling Stones played a big roll in her success when they asked her and Ike to open for them in 1966 and again in 69. Tina performed with the Stones on several occasions throughout the years.
Her death is the one that has shaken me the most. I saw Ms. Tina and I thought she was like me, biracial. Her skin color was a lot like mine. She was everything I wanted to be when I grew up! She was so beautiful, strong, courageous and so talented! It wasn't easy being the child of a black mom and a white dad in the 70's. But, somehow Ms Tina got me through it!
she did this song in the sixties as a cover from CCR and it was high energy always. River Deep Mountain High produced by Phil Spector using wall of sound is beautiful. Not long after doing that song she left Ike turner. After she went on her own most do not know that Ann Margret and Mick Jaggar helped her. What a lady!!
Yes I rember her and Ike performing it in the 60s. After she left Ike ahe was playing night clubs, Vagas, Atlantic City until a rock promoter told her she should be doing rock and they needed to get her some songs that fit her talent. They released her first solo album in the early 80s the rest is history and she remained in our hearts❤ from then on. And still. Forever.
In praise of Tina's legs . . . Billy Crystal, the comedian and actor, once said on stage when Introducing Tina, "Tina Turner's the reason God created high-heels !!"
Tina was seriously simply the best. Love your reactions, thank you for doing this. I grew up loving her. There's some great music out there with her, explore friends. God Bless ✌️♥️
Check out the entire concert--same excellence and energy for the whole thing--amazing for anyone but particularly for a woman of her age. Tina was one of the best ever! (This was supposed to be her farewell tour but she kept going a few more years.)
I saw Tina Turner in a little town (Coburg, Oregon) in the mid-70s, then again on this tour. God, I miss Tina! I was crushed at her passing. Did you know that Mick Jagger learned lots of his moves from her?
This song Proud Mary was written by and originally performed and released by John Fogerty and CCR. You should also react to their version. 😉 However this arrangement is all Ike and Tina together. 😎 It continued to be one of her signature performances after they split and Tina went solo. ❤
The song that you are thinking of that restarted her career was What's Love Got to do With It. It was her first album and first hit after Ike. It was a defining moment in her professional and personal life. The movie of the same name, staring Angela Bassett as Tina, tells the story.
John Fogerty "Proud Mary" is a song by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival written by John Fogerty. It was released as a single in January 1969 by Fantasy Records and on the band's second studio album, Bayou Country.
Correct - "Proud Mary" is a song by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival written by John Fogerty. It was released as a single in January 1969 by Fantasy Records and on the band's second studio album, Bayou Country.
The song was written by John Fogarty for Credence Clearwater Revival. (He was their lead singer as well). Tina began singing it around 1969 while still with Ike. I saw them in 1970-71 at the Berkeley Community Theater. Incredible concert. I was around 16 or 17. So, in any event, she sang the song for 50 years. Most people don't even remember CCR. just for perspective, Wembley Stadium holds 90,000....SEATED!! There seem to be a few people on the football pitch as well.
Tina is the lady of rock and roll two concerts in and a fan from 1968 you can not go wrong. Energy up to 80. Forever young! Dive in so many great songs. Love thing, break every rule, too many. I am too excited at the thought of Barbell getting to know Tina . HOLD ON, she's a treat .❣️
Love this video of her !!! and lord could she still dance !!! ♥🔥music🎵🎶🎹🎸🎸 And someone else said it , this song was CCR's . Hard to believe we have lost her. 😥😥
Oh man, I would have loved seeing Tina Turner live in concert. She was such a great entertainer. There is actually a broadway musical (Not sure if its still on Broadway) called, "Tina." The musical is about her life and her 5 decades if music. It sounded like am awesome show according to mother who saw it a few yrs ago. Anyways, great reaction to a legendary song by a lengendsry singer who still could do all the dance move at 60, 24 yrs ago. I feel old because i was like 12 when she went on her tour.
Whoever told you that was wrong neither she nor Ike wrote this. It was written by Creedence Clearwater Revival back in 1969 . Proud Mary was a river boat. The original would be good for you to react to.
I recommend watching Tina Turner's performance Steamy Windows (Live from Barcelona 1990). A powerful performance that will show exactly why Tina is the Queen of rock n roll
This is absolutely fantastic but you really have to see one of the longer versions of when she did it with the Ike and Tina Turner Revue starting in around 1970. There are several different videos of it on UA-cam and they range from just a few minutes for a short television appearance to 7 or 8 or 9 minutes sometimes and it's just mind-blowing live performance.
Tina Turner never did drugs. I have heard a story of taking an overdose of sleeping pills during her ill fated marriage. As others have said is that she didn't write this song. She did make her version famous.
2 Concerts in,fantastic, and a fan from 1968. How can I not have Tina in and out of my life. RIP ! DIVE IN SO MUCH GREAT MUSIC. ❣️Look for Love thing - Sassy and hot ,Break every Rule, Thunderdome❣️ooops We Don't need Another Hero from the movie MAD MAX beyond Thunderdome ❣️maybe!🤭
Great reaction! Always think it'd be fun for an aerobics instructor to lead a class doing this tune and a few of her other songs! The stamina of those background dancers is incredible! Haha
This was a cover and she didn't really become the Tina that we all knew and loved until after she left Ike. She wrote What's Love Got To Do With It. You guys should watch the movie of the same name. It's about her life starring Angela Bassett.
You guys are so cute to watch!!!!!!!!!!!! By far my favorite duo reaction channel!!!!! I have to admit though, as much as i love Tina, this song, and performance, i get a little too excited and it raises my blood pressure a little too high!!!!
This song was written, and first released by CCR. She and Ike made this arrangement together, and preformed it together. She continued including it in her solo career.
Indeed. At first I thought my memory could be faulty thinking this is not Tina's song. CCR it is.
Actually, Ike and Tina didn't come up with their arrangement. Ike didn't like CCR's Proud Mary which Tina wanted to do. But if you were to check out Sonny Charles and the Checkmate's version, you could see where Ike got the arrangement from.
John Fogerty even said himself that Tina Turner RIP did this song better than they ever could..
Indeed, but Tina made it her own and elevated it, and then some.
Tina was truly a GREAT loss. She had 50 years performing and was truly a PHENOMENAL performer. Her energy was unlike any other.
The woman was a force of nature.
Amen ❤

Tina had the chutzpah, the durability and sheer talent to then become a superstar in her own right as a solo performer. Vale Tina!
For me, and maybe it was due to my youth at the time, but the televised version Ike and Tina did back in the sixties will always be my favorite!
Proud Mary was a paddle wheel riverboat on the Mississippi River. Song was written and released by John Fogerty of CCR in 1969. Tina and Ike covered it in 1970.
Long love Queen Tina Turner and her beautiful voice and eternal fire and energy ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Tina Turner was 61 years young when did this performance at Wembley....incredible. By the way, this is an old John Fogerty song he wrote, and his band played it....Credence Clearwater Revival.
He was her opening act at this concert. I was there.
Tina’s legs were iconic, and were insured for $3.2 million.. QUEEN ❤
I was always AMAZED how she danced in those high heels!!!
Tina Turner at 61 years old. One of a kind.
Lucky to have seen her in concert 3X... This is the same level of energy she gave to her fans... You're spot on, her endurance is jaw dropping, .. how did she do it? Let's stay together! My fav!!
TINA....
The steel grandmother with incredible legs that can shake the booty out of anyone!
I have always admired her.
Tina was an incredible performer! She could sing and dance!!! I'll miss her so much 🙏🤗

Alot people don't this a ccr song .but she does a fabulous job with Ike to with his deep voice !
I was there, Wembley Stadium right in the small section in front of the stage. Amazing concert. Her energy was something else. Lionel Richie was the support act that opened the show
Lionel came on after John Foggerty. I was there too. Simply the best!
Tina Turner is another example of: there are singers; there are artists; there are performers; and then there are entertainers.
I saw her perform and she is amazing performer. She deserved every bit of the amazing success she had. R.I.P. Tina. 👏👏👏❤️
I was there. My mouth is still open.😅❤
It was said "God made Tina Turner to teach women how to dance in high heels." And she did it in five inchers. :D
The Queen of Rock & Roll!
She Was Amazing Singer And Performer Too And She Was 60 With Alot Of Energy I Loved It .
This is a great cover of this song! Tina was one of the most dynamic & energetic performers. The original "Proud Mary" is by one of my favorite groups CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival). Hope you will check out their huge library of songs.
Tina it was one big star! RIP Tina!
The song she wrote was Nutbush City Limits, another classic, this song was written by John Fogerty, the leader of Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Tina Turner was absolutely gorgeous.
Song written by John Fogerty of Creedance Clearwater Revival. Tina perfected it!
She makes me cry. Queen Queen Queen ❤
Best legs in rock & roll.
Tina Turner was a Class Act. That's why she was/is the QUEEN
What a voice, what a performer! We miss you, Tina x
Loved her and her energy! Love watching you two, y'all are so cute getting into the music.

Big hand to the band. Absolutely superb bunch of musos!
That's why Tina was called the Queen of Rock and Roll. For me she will always be exactly that.

RIP Tuna Turner You Is Legend You Is Queen
You don't need shocking when you have the talent of Tina Turner!
Incredible performer! BTW, she DID insure her legs for a cool mil apiece. Thanks for your reaction.
R.I.P. Tina Turner!! Miss you and your music!!💔😪
Look at “heard it thru the grapevine “ video live in 2000….. simply amazing!
And that is how you put on a show.. And that band!
The greatest Sausage Fest concert. Tina and I met once in a Wet Dream
Interesting note: John Fogerty of CCR who wrote this song is a California kid, who had never seen the Mississippi River prior to writing this.
I saw Tina Turner in a little town (Coburg, Oregon) in the mid-70s, then again on this tour. God, I miss Tina! I was crushed at her passing.
Did you know that Mick Jagger learned lots of his moves from her?
Hey guys. That song was written by John Fogerty with C.C.R. it was later covered by Ike & Tina.
Got to see her live 3 times. So amazing.
This song Proud Mary was written by and originally performed and released by John Fogerty and CCR. You should also react to their version. 😉 However this arrangement is all Ike and Tina together. 😎 It continued to be one of her signature performances after they split and Tina went solo. ❤
Creedance do the best version, how it should sound in every way,and John's guitar solo blows me away
She never wrote this sing he is wrong,John Fogarty wrote it
60+ and she still looked that good and had that much energy.. what a woman what a performer.. what a legend! R.I.P Tina we love you!

CCR wrote it. That's like saying Heart wrote Stairway to Heaven because they played it @ the Kennedy Center
Proud Mary was a Mississippi boat with that big wheel keep on turning. The river boat queen. Originally done by Cleardence Clearwater Revival
My step dad always got misty when he spoke of her and her “crocheted dress” in 1967. 😂😂
John Fogerty
"Proud Mary" is a song by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival written by John Fogerty. It was released as a single in January 1969 by Fantasy Records and on the band's second studio album, Bayou Country.
Got a Ike and Tina Turner lp for Christmas from my uncle and it had this track on it.That was 50 years ago.
Used to leap around the kitchen when my mam played this as a kid.
Pretty sure this was written by Creedance Clearwater Revival and Tina did a cover.
Correct - "Proud Mary" is a song by American rock band Creedence Clearwater Revival written by John Fogerty. It was released as a single in January 1969 by Fantasy Records and on the band's second studio album, Bayou Country.
CCR wrote it but John Fogerty will be the first to tell you it’s Tina’s song. He is a big fan of what she did with his words….

A good memorial reaction video. Saw her Private Dancer tour in the mid 80's, she had the entire crowd involved.

I recommend watching Tina Turner's performance Steamy Windows (Live from Barcelona 1990). A powerful performance that will show exactly why Tina is the Queen of rock n roll
RIP tina legend respect ❤❤❤ hey guys i,ll just throw status quo in there rocking all over the world
If by “issues” with Ike you mean he beat the shit out of her….then yes, they had issues. She was a survivor and an overall badass.
In 1971 we saw Ike & Tina do this song at the Spectrum in Philadelphia.
Rest In Peace Ms Turner. Thank you for your gift of music.
She was absolutely incredible.

Tina was always in her prime!
Bout time you're doing Tina!
I was dancing while watching your reaction. That is embarrassing to say, but that was the energy from this song lol. Great reaction!
Love it!
she was 60 here and rocking that stage
Tina Turner never did drugs. I have heard a story of taking an overdose of sleeping pills during her ill fated marriage. As others have said is that she didn't write this song. She did make her version famous.
RIP Queen! This whole concert is a must! Please react to more from it.
Simply the Best

Tina did a song with Bryan Adams.. it’s only love .. watch the live video… the interaction is amazing
