Hello fellas: this one of my favorite Dalmores. It is actually Matured initially for 14 years in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, the spirit is then transferred to 30 year old Matusalem oloroso sherry butts for a further four years. These sherry butts from the world renowned sherry house Gonzalez Byass are selected exclusively for The Dalmore. Great review. Cheers!

Oh, one more thing fellas, Dalmore does colour their whiskys. So many different cask involvement in their range, that in order to maintained the brand uniform coloured, they use E-150 colouring.
I know this video is a couple years old. I just got Into whisky and bourbon and ordered dalmore 12 and 15 as my first order and prices were a bit higher now. $70-80 for the 12 and $110 for the 15. Thought about getting the 18 but it's like $210-$220. Havent tried the 15 yet but opened the 12 and love it.
I absolutely love The Dalmore's offerings. I have the 12, 15, 18 and Cigar Malt reserve. Have you guys tried their Cigar Malt? Another fantastic scotch from them. Looking to pick up the King Alexander III next.
You'd fit in right nice drinking at our bar as yes, yes, yes and YES we are fond of Dalmore too. We've tried all of the previously mentioned, with the only one left to actually review being the Cigar Malt and it's on our "list"!! Enjoy that King!
Scotch 4 Dummies I enjoyed the Dalmore 15 and thought it was a great scotch for $73 bought the 18 for $176, but for me Wow!! that is a great glass of scotch and I love it neat or with just a bit of water. I've got a bottle of the King and the 12 waiting in the wings. The king I'm holding on to for my retirement in June and can't wait for two reasons now. Dalmore is definitely my go to scotch. Love the reviews you guys do a great job.
You guys are beginning to influence me towards looking at more Dalmores... I tried the 12 and liked it, but for some reason I never tried any of the other expressions. I will rectify that in 2019.
I'm so glad to watch your guys reviews! I recently purchased a bottle of the King expecially cause of your reviews. Dalmore does make some good Scotch for sure. My palette follows most of your reviews for sure. Now only if I could get some marzipan locally. Cheers!
I agree 100% with the guy in the green hat and the guy on the far right.. When I see a scotch with a dark amber like the Dalmore 18, I expect certain tasting notes. I know your doing live video, but if you pour your scotch in a glass and let it open up 20-30 minutes especially the Dalmore 18, you will appreciate it more. Also I notice that scotch will taste better after 2-3 drams of slow enjoyment. I did this with the Balvenie 12 yr doublewood yesterday which I've had several times and it never tasted so good. After watching your video I would not pay $160, when I could buy the Glenfarclas 25 for $150 and the Glendronach 21 Parliament for $190, both of which I purchased the other day. I have the Dalmore 12 yr for $45 and its good with a rating of 2.5 - 3.0. Great video
I agree with Keith on the color notes too. When I see a dark color I expect a sweet molasses taste and almost trick my senses into tasting it. The light colored scotches have never really attracted me to even pick them off of the shelf.
+Bryan Elders I agree with you about the light color scotch with some few exceptions out there. Stay away from Macallan Fine oak 21 especially costing upwards of $500. My friend shared 2 bottles with me and certainly there are much better scotches for much less money.

Have to agree with him on some of the lighter exceptions Bryan, there are some tasty ones out there, so don't cut yourself short!We need to go backwards and review some of the more common everyday scotches. Heck, we just realized we've not reviewed the Mac12....but I think that's because we nabbed a bottle of the Rare Oak ($300) and just weren't impressed....not fair to knock Macallan for that, so we need to get back on that horse!BTW - love the fact that we have viewers having conversations here in the comments, that right there is what we were aiming for when we started this little adventure! Really appreciate you guys speaking up! Hell, you've teaching us a thing or 3 too!! :-)

The 12 and 18 have quite a bit in common. The 18 is more refined and smooth, but I would try the 12 first and see if you like the direction it's going. Both good bottles. We get the 12 for about $60 so I never worry about buying that one. It's almost always on the bar. -Shawn
Both are fantastic, but cannot go wrong with the King! I think the 18 would be cheaper though. Might suggest our last video as well - It's a bit hot, but Tamdhu Batch #2 was fantastic as well! Thanks and congratulations!
I watched the video again. Price is $160 & the 15 yr is $80... Would you say that the 18 yr is worth paying double the price for an additional 3 years? I've only had the 12 yr and yes it was smooth, but I thought it was a little flat.
Ya, just a little hesitant to pull the trigger on the 15 yr or 18 yr. Like I said, the 12 yr was just ok to me.. I know the 15 yr is finished in 3 different casks that sound amazing, but you did not convince me the 15 yr is worth it. There is a $50 difference between the 3 scotches for me. I know I can't knock Dalmore based on one tasting, but I have other scotch to try first. Dalmore sure looks delicious in the bottle, but like we've said, you can't go by the color.
That's tough....honestly would come down to price for me.....I'd probably lean toward the GF on this one as believe it or not I prefer the Dalmore 15 to it's 18...but, that's just me! ~Mark

I have heard a few people say the same about the dalmore 15 against the 18 so the 15 yr might be next lol I'm from prestwick in Scotland so price here is £60-£65 for glenfiddich, £89 for dalmore 18yr and £45 for the dalmore 15yr thanks again! Love your reviews!
I think it really started with getting together on Thursday evenings to throw a game or three of darts and watch classic movies. A glass of scotch goes well with that and the next thing you know we just all found a passion for it! Not to mention, we all live within 5 houses of each other and have kids the same age....just really easy to get together. And then there is no denying that as much as you can enjoy a good dram by yourself, there is something to be said for sharing a dram with friends! We always have an empty seat at the bar and really try to get you all watching to feel like you're sitting there! Cheers, ~Mark

Dalmore 18 is for suckers because... it's chill filtered, it's not natural colour, and only 43% ABV... it's a rip off. Aberlour A'bunadh is better quality and value for half the price of Dalmore 18.
You might have a point on the color and it being chill filtered, but cmon, 43% ABV? If you are going to knock that then you are going to have to knock almost every Scotch there is, Scotch is usually bottled at 40 or 43% ABV you moron. Go drink American Bourbon if you think that matters.

Don't we know it....the ol E-150 discussion is never-ending! But on the positive side, E-150 or not, the scotch is pretty damn good! :-)

No, probably NOT worth paying double...we rated them both at 3 out of 4. But we definitely want to hear what you say about the 15 then!!!
