I had darkness from sexual experimentation at a young age that I didn't deal with growing up. This came out as voyeurism when I got older and I got caught and arrested. I fell on the sword as hard as I could, not o ly admitting what I was caught doing but admitting everything I had ever done as to exercise the demon out of me and be able to be healthy and free of that shadowy part of myself. I went out of my way to get extra therapy and all take advantage of all the resources the institution provided after jail. I went the hardest route every step of the way because I wanted to know 100% that I was healed. If you Google my name "arjuna busek" an article pops up about this whole thing. I am saying all this as boots on the ground factual evidence that YOU CANNOT change peoples perception of you. There are people out in the world who have heard my story and got so triggered from their own unhealed traumas that they will live and die rejecting and resenting me regardless of the person I know myself to be presently and the virtious way I live my life. If you think dudes elemantry school teacher was wrong, its because you have not been through anything inpactful enough to get you to understand this truth. People need life changing epiphanies to change their minds and judgements. The reality is that not many people get those experiences and the openness that comes with them. It is what it is :)

    I'm a scientist.
It is really hard to get government/charity grants. You basically have to overpromise what you will do, have a very good track record and be in a good institution. You put your heart and soul into it but grant acceptance rates are 10-15%. You have to report every year what you have done, and publicly report if you met your goals. A charity will go through your spending with a fine tooth comb to make sure it's all for their project. You used to be able to put a bit of a buffer in each grant to deal with muck-ups or stretch goals, but not so much now.
It is awesome when you can get a few years funding with no strings attached and just a 2 page report at the end. You can do some very original work.

Without greed, there is no technology, no US or any major developed country in Europe for that matter. Greed is what fuels innovation and research that is a multi billion dollar industry. Without greed, average people would still be living in harsh hostile conditions with no safety. Almost all of the failed states with no instrastructure and dirty poor have no greed whatsoever so they live shit. Without greed, there is no social progress or advancement.
