Tillotson 212 E-Start Budget Build + Rip | 7,000 RPM Torque Monster!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 кві 2022
- We build the Tillotson 212 electric start engine in Charles' Coleman CT200U-EX mini bike! Charles likes his Coleman mini bike to be torquey, so we chose a camshaft, carburetor, and other options for this Tillotson 21w electric start to reflect his tastes. In order to keep the factory flywheel with the ring gear for electric start, we have to keep the RPMs somewhat down. Thankfully, the MOD 2 camshaft makes power to 7,000, with lots of torque at the low end.
Thanks for Watching!

Don't you guys have over like 30 running machines at this point? You should have 30 friends over and get them all running at once around the track for a glory parade to showcase all of the builds you have done in an epic celebration ride!

@@w.nurmi58 nahh, im sure C+C doesn't exactly wanna give away expensive machines for free lol
That would piss off the neighbors. Maybe a fleet playday at the OHV park?
Don’t forget each sticker adds 1-2 hp. Also if Charles blows on the air filter while riding he Could add 3 hp.
Especially a let's go Brandon sticker.
But be careful with NOS stickers. Their power increase is really hard to handle.
Charles is better than a turbo for small engines
My friend secretly added too many stickers on my racing mower and the internals and clutch are suffering from the extreme power 😢
I've never had or worked on a go-kart or mini bike or anything and I've watched every video for like 2 years lol
Here's a tech tip: Keep a few golf tees in your tool box. They are a great way to quickly plug a fuel line during disassembly.
Yep. I cut mine down to about 3/4" long so it hits the taper a little.
Use a pair of mini needle nose vice grips
@@cheeznipsmagee2357 Those will certainly work well but you can buy a whole bag of golf tees for the price of one pair of vice grips.
Hemostats also work well.
@@johnnickerson6522 or, pick up broken ones (3/4 length) on your next trip to the links.
Charles measurements are the best and most accurate
Ike, we call it a "Geezus Clip." As it flies across the shop, we say "GEEZUS I'll never find that again !!!"
🤣
I gotta be honest, there is something about watching small engine mini bike builds and doing it to that makes it more fun and enjoyable than building car engines. It’s like we don’t have the stress that comes along with doing big money builds you know? This is where you find true enjoyment with the right people as you take turns trying it out and not having to worry too much about letting each other ride what you just built.
I sold all my old cars a few years back and went hog wild into mini bikes. havin more fun then I have had in years with the old cars and hot rods.
@@billwilliamson9842 I'm leaning this way as well...
@@goodguy...badrep. do it but careful, it can become an addiction lol I think i have about 4-5 finished bikes about 20 more rollers, a warehouse rack full of engines, parts, etc etc etc I got out of the old cars because my back went south on me and I couldn't work on them the way I used to. I sure don't trust any of my toys to someone else, so the cars went bye bye. On the minibikes though I can still do 100% of it all. I find the smiles per gallon are much better on them for me too.
Charles looked like a kid on Christmas morning from start to finish 😊. Nice build keep it coming 👊👊👊👊
Would love to see you make a rear swing arm and make it full suspension.

Good to see Charles getting his name on the board. I have a feeling he's been sand bagging so as not to show up the 2 OG's.
Charles has been sandbagging for sure... he can out ride them all

really liked the flow and style of this video and build. I liked the way you went and showed the whole process. you guys really are dialed in and work well together and it shows through the show. Watch all your videos, love the content. Thank you boys. Grats on the new build Charles!
I really appreciate the details in production. The sound design is well done, balanced, as loud as it needs to be to replicate their experience!
I like the way you did the Rod swap not removing Piston from the top
but from the bottom Bore keeping the oil rings intact nice job Issac.😁😁
Isaac for the win!
I had a snap ring puncture sheet rock when I was rebuilding the top end of my old yz85 definitely wear safety glasses when removing any sort of compressed snap rings
If it pierced some dry wall then make sure to have protection around your neck as well, eyes aren't the only sensitive place.
I didn't see him put the snap ring back on the piston, hopefully he didn't forget to !
The boys skim over the most crucial point is to pre torque the rod bolts on the the crankshaft to check clearances out of the motor then assemble in the block
Most of this build was done carelessly, IMHO.
I'm so glad you bought Charles into the crew he's a legend. Book of knowledge general all around nice guy but brings a laugh to your videos as well good choice guys! Goofy but we love ya Charles!
Great show and also the short clip at the end with Charles accidentally moving the light away. Love when people have fun
Great content & reminds me of my kart racing days . Season opener we showed up with a Harbor Freight engine with many upgrades on a Bad Maxx . Lots of people with Briggs engines were laughing at us in the line up for practice ...... they all had frowns after the night of racing . Thanks for the memories
30:06 My best friend always said "If you're gonna be dumb, you gotta be tough." lol. Hope you're alright Charles ;) You guys rock!
If Charles ever starts his own Channel, that would be a great name for it, “Charles Loves Torque” 😎
I wish my old lil Indian mini bike wasn't destroyed when our house burnt down 20yrs ago bc I would've loved to do this to it. 😖
Looks super fun, congrats Charles 👍👍
Can y’all spot the differences in our track?
I'll be watching for that, thanks.
spotted a few hay bales at the corners and the distance markers. you might want to stack the bales a bit higher because all they'll do at the moment is stop the bike and send the rider into the trees head first :D should help with the carts and buggies though 👍 keep it up fellas
yea nice job on the incoming turn notice an bails of hay
Can’t seem to locate the video on the making of these track changes that you referred to. Is that still coming or just not been published on the channel yet?
@@WinzloCom it's in this vid they put some hay on corners an some indicators that a turn was coming up.
Well done fellas! I'm glad your rear end is alright Charles. Congrats on the new track tech gear. Thanks for sharing guys!
Dudes, I hooted a hollered when I saw that y’all added that laser timer. I’m so glad y’all heeded my suggestion to do so. Now y’all can get some awesome accurate times on your laps. 👍👍
You guys are an inspiration. I have been seeking out the oldest Briggs & stratton's and Motors that I can find for years. I can rebuild cars but I find it far more satisfying to build small stuff. I appreciate your guys's videos and wish that I could do what you. unfortunately I've been in a relationship for 2 years wouldn't allow me to go out and work in my shop that I built just for that reason. But on the positive side that relationship just ended and now I have plenty of free time to get back out in the shop and it feels good. I can say it feels very rewarding to find an old motor they hasn't run in years and get that baby running again. Much respect. I don't know how old my oldest motor is but it's a two and a half horsepower Briggs & Stratton 4 stroke with a horse hair that you have to oil air filter and a 2:1 gear reduction supposedly it was for a water pump at one time and it's the oldest piece I have. As a side hobby I rebuild riding lawn mowers and build racing lawn mowers to ride on the beach which bypass the street legal laws. My fastest lawn mower does over 30 and rides huge wheelies.
For years.
Trick for removing studs: take an extra nut that fits the stud and make a “clamp nut tool”. Take the spare nut and cut through a flat all the way through to the threads. Now spin the nut onto the stud and squeeze it using vice grips etc. the nut will grip the stud on all sides equally and not damage them.
Also works for gripping a threaded stock/bolt etc in a lathe to cut etc.
I think you guys should find a nice day where the track is dry and run every vehicle on the gp list again so all the times are accurate. Also we'd like to see that video no matter how long it is.
The timing set up / lasers is awesome. Now yall will be receiving data. That's night and day compared guessing. Good job that is a professional move.
Another great video guys. 2am and enjoying with my coffee. Ike really enjoyed talking to you Tuesday morning. Hope we get to do it again. This Old Man loves you guys. 🛵🧔💝💝💝
That little piggy is a "hang onto Your helmet" ride! I'd almost want a dish soap dispenser on that rear tire... haha. Have any of You guys in the garage seen any 2x2 wheelers before? I remember an old farmer here in Indiana had a 2x2 called a Rokon that he bought back in the mid 1970's. He had an entire assortment of the product upgrades. One being a short snow plow blade, a water pump set up & some other farm implement equipment. He'd always say. "Go get the mototractor, it'll do all the work for us" This was a great video here.
Fracture-split conn rods are cheaper to produce too, they're stronger, and have a longer service life than separately machined caps. I think that is so cool! I love engines!!! They are the best invention in human history by far, and yet barely even considered by anyone, who literally depend on them every day to work flawlessly.
Only downside is that you can't resize them.
Miss the small engine days when I raced go karts, guess I better find a cheap kart again haha
Bring more of the T4 kart videos!
That's the first time since trade school that I've looked into a small engine enlightened I am now a bit more clued into the rocker set up thank you all the best to yous and your loved ones
Coming from someone who is learning small blocks you guys are the best and most informative !!!
New building. Improved presentation. Good job guys!
Gotta try the pen light on the cap bill trick, thanks Charles!
The new track addition is awesome!
Charles with his dank nooners!!!!!
Great informational video for new builders! 👌 👏🏻 👍🏻
I loved this video! Thanks for taking the time to explain the tips thoroughly!
Absolutely! I really appreciate the explanations
I helped bring the cracked rod to the 7.3L Powerstroke diesel. It's great from a manufacturing standpoint and the cap only fits one way, fits perfectly and is a more stable connection to the main rod body. I had concerns about replacing the old 4140 forged rods with a powdered metal rod. The forging was stronger and able to bend in hydro lock situations where the powdered rod would break. But we never had a bunch of engine failures due to the change to fractured powdered rods.
glad to see Charles wheel something, he is good and has a good understanding of how to apply the power, John on the other hand........lol I also was wondering what Isaac was smokin, he couldn't remember squat....lol but it did add tho the humor. good job Charles!
Well hello to you all .. Much to my amazement.. this episode of car's and cameras..(It'll be fine) was one one of the best stage 2 installations I've actually watched in roughly a 1 year and a half..
Most excellent keep up the fantastic footage..
Paul ✌️
So happy for the laser addition finally. Good job guys
The inner workings and your explanations are interesting and helpful
Charles "Shaggy" did a butt bump and was really shocked, Cars and Camera has a winner with Charles because he reminds me of my 5 boys before they joined the military,, they could build anything with just pliers and a vice grip
You're a very good sales men, and very slick at getting people to order parts from you're source.
I'd love to see one of the old go karts converted into a designated wheelie go kart, that'd be sick. Keep up the awesome work!
This was a nice refresher video. Thanks bruh
Interesting build. I installed a NR Racing 280 series marine cam, #26 springs, and billet rod in both of my neighbors boys Coleman EX and tweaked the governor to 4800-5000 rpm with carb re-jetting and header. Installed torque converters. Beast up to 5000 rpm. I still advised not to hold it at full throttle for more than a few seconds.
Finally get to watch it on time guys usually I can't get enough service to watch till later
Nice to see how you removed the old carb bolts. That’s the way my dad showed me years ago to remove a fan from a water pump
Excellent episode. Looks like a fun ride.
Wow 😳😲 that motor sure has got some good power
Really enjoyed this video. Thank you for not using background music all over the video.
About 5 years ago, I was working at an auto
repair shop. Just me, and the owner. His
wife also did paperwork and stuff.
One lunch, I was reading a Hot Rod mag,
and they were discussing rod big end
types. they mentioned the cracked ones.
2 hours later, we were dropping the oil pan,
on a car with "rod noise." Boss said, let's see
if it is just bearing noise. Removed the rod
cap, and it was a cracked rod, which neither
of us had ever seen. (Except in that Hot Rod
Magazine.) The rod bearing and the rod journal
"looked" OK. Put the oil pan back on, oiled it,
and it ran, just fine, for about 3 minutes.
The car was a cheap, used up, econobox.
Wasn't worth pulling the crank, and getting
it turned and more bearings. It was worth
the hour we put in.
Funny thing, seeing the article in HRM, and
then seeing our first cracked rod.
steve
Great lighting on the new vids!
Like the intro with professor Issac! The game out of removing the governor was funny. My friends and I used to compete on everything like that! The bike sounds and performs great!
Really cool format to watch.
Awesome! Torque monster!
Great Job guys 👍
Not to take away from how cool that engine is, or even cooler Johns hat is, or the friggin lasers, but I love the longer episodes. BTW, I think wood chips might help with the mud on the track.
It couldn't hurt, right?
I use them for my personal track out here in Cali. Also would definitely have changed the crossover on the creek to a banked dirt crossover with pipe outlets for the creek. If y’all have a tractor or something changing camber through the field would be smart as well.
Sand... wood chips are small projectiles and can hurt you pretty good... sand is where it’s at
@@aaron_brown7324 I have a half dirt and half sand track and it's very easy to lose control on mini bikes
i personally rather mud over it but maybe there's another option that works better
@@thefishingchannel3192 my buddy’s track gets really muddy on the turns especially.... we was thinking about adding some sand but not enough to be just sand... we want a sand mix to help keep it from getting so muddy... I could be wrong tho I have been before 😂
Pretty sweet little beast 👍🏼🤩💪🏼
C and C y'all rock! Love the channel and content! I'm here for the algorithm! Peace
You guys make this look soooooo easy! lol!
I'm loving the details that you're putting into the video about the engine work, it gives me an idea about how to do one of these myself. Great work as always!
( p.s. who's the new camera monkey? they're doing a great job!)
i love these videos so much
hey guys, 30 year marine tech here.. AWESOME BUILD !! they are called fractured cap rods. used on outboards, learned to line them up using a pencil.
Lol finally got a laser setup.. Been saying for years you can get IR lap timers for dirt cheap, but I'm glad to see you guys are going for better precision 😉😎
Awesome very good build
Awesome work Sir thank you
Charles did not wanna give up that governor to Ike when they were trying to remove it 😂😂 I love the enthusiasm
Very enjoyable video guys -- nice budget build
well done boys!
Nice work!
What a great video good job guys
Yeah, the fractured rods are crazy. They come whole as a replacement part. I get to crack them then install. Seems sketchy but they are beasts.
This mini bike is awesome!👍
Ike mentioned fracture rods aka crack rods it’s absolutely amazing the new engine building techniques that have come out the past few years
Good vid guys!
Love the squirt!
I like how you setup the track with braking zones and apex markers.
11:46 Dude that washed the dirt out of my eyes LOL wow was that funny
Best channel ever
Nice fast bike great video Great show
great stuff guys thanks looked fast to me
I wheelie my Coleman 2021 mini bike all the time. I even put pegs on it like a bicycle so I can balance it better than putting knees on the seat but all I really need is a lower gear sprocket so the centrifugal clutch will kick in faster and do the wheelies correctly
The clutch engages based on engine rpms and has nothing to do with the rear sprocket
thank you ike! i now know how one of those governers work and ive wanted to know that for years lol lil peace of mind goes a long way when you tinker a lot of your friends bikes n what not. love yall chemistry. dont change!!
i just tried sand for the first time ever today on my little trail 125 and i made sure to hit it all. and it did great at least to me but i never ran sand on a bike before. and that mini bike is bad ass good all around.
I see that buc-ee's sticker on there. As a Kansas boy when I visited my fiances family that was my one demand that I had to see it. I was not let down.
Oh and that drag cart looks cool hanging up there. It would be cool to have some lights under it. Like some LED strips. Call it production effects or something Hollywood.
I know I can't prove it but I totally guessed 1:05. Awesome video. Thanks y'all!
i had a stock 168f with a mikini on it , it was a beast and ran way longer than i expected, until the rear seal blew out and it siezed from lack of oil,
Restore it like new again nice work
I just saw that wheelie out of the corner of my eyes where it basically folded in the back Fender that was awesome Charles
All men fall short and come short of the Glory. Picking yourself up to keep going is a fine example of what we all need to do. Unless you all need to take someone to the hospital. Keep having fun guys.
Nice build.
Great video guys I would add a tiny tach to see but rpms maybe just bumped 5k like twice
So cool. Let’s upgrade more
