Getting a 1000w kit from another brand over the weekend. Am so excited to assemble my first e-bike and be able to cruise like this wherever I go. Legit hate going slow on my bike, and I've grown up in a town with nasty headwinds that could slow any biker down to a crawl. The town I'm in doesn't have a wind problem though, but an excessive amount of steep hills problem
Great video. I am going to fit this kit to my bike but I have hydraulic disc brakes so I cannot fit the brake levers. Can this kit be fitted without the supplied brake levers? Will the motor and controller work without the brake levers connected
It can if you take the sensors off the supplied ones and retro fit to your own levers . Basically it just a contact that once it touches the other part of it. This cuts the power to the motor.
Thank you for the video! Just installed same kit on my bike.It looks like we have the same crank setup. After I installed the pedal assist magnet and put my crank arm back on,when I tighten the bolt my crank will barely turn,I have to loosen the bolt a little, but then invariably the bolt will come loose and come out,any suggestions? Thanks
Great vids keep them coming👍, can I ask your advice I've got a 2022 giant Talon 1 hardtail with 11 speed cassette and I am looking to get a 1500 watt rear hub drive kit. The trouble is the kit only comes in 7,8 or 9 speed hub. Do you think I can fit the 7 speed motor on my 11 speed giant?!I don't think my 11 speed cassette will fit on the hub of the kit? Thankyou for any advice you can give me 👍

Dumb question coming up. On my bike the brake levers and the gear change are combined, any ideas how to deal with this? need to be able to change gears, but can't have four brake levers. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Never done anything like this before.
That is a tricky one , the only thing I can suggest is the the levers that come with the kit will have a sensor/cut off switch . Can you provide a link for what battery 🔋 you chose. I'm seeing batteries fora lot less but the kits have gone up in price for 1000w but then 48w kits are cheaper?
Excellent instructional video there and a nice job done. Is the motor marked up as 500 watts? I am impressed by the low price of it, but my driving license is too valuable to me to risk all the backwash if I got caught riding an illegal bike in a public place. If it isn't obviously over powered (legally speaking) and I could blag my way out of the fact that the motor looks big and beefy, I might consider it. How is it on steep hills? Where I live, there are 20% hills. Hub motor might not do well and I might need a mid drive which works via the bikes gearing system to keep the old motor spinning fast and happy.
The cable coming out of the motor-hub looks awfully thin for at least 20 amps. I think the power wires on these often need to be upgraded to a higher guage.
Is the easi-fit kit in your other videos a better option than this one? I like the convenience of the easi-fit but this seems like a lot more power for the money?
Easi fit is what it says but if your after power and heavy set up this kit would be better , I personally like the lighter weight and have got used to the lower power 👍
Hi. Can I ask which thumb throttle you got that works with the voilamart controller? Was it plug and play or did the connectors needs re wiring? Thanks
Why would you keep it in pedal assist 1 the whole time you were riding it? Oh right, you mounted the buttons on the other side of your bell and you couldn't reach them. Very little commentary on its performance and no mention of the specs of the battery. No speed, hill climbing or range test.
Wow, Nice, I just bought the Voilamart kit and ordered the battery separately, I've never assembled anything like this before but I'm going to try..!! your Bike Is nice, Is it a large frame you have or medium? Also I've heard that the Tyre that comes with kit isn't that good, what Tyres did you get Instead? Any good make? I'm learning slowly and going to attempt to build my own.. thanks, Jeff
Glad I could help Jeff , yeah the tyre that came with it was no good so I put Schwalbe black jacks on both wheels . The inner tube for the rear was ok due its long valve for the thicker wheel . I think my bike is a medium. Just take your time route the cables as neat as possible , I also changed out the little bag for the controller as I found it a little small . Happy Building atb Dave
@@davesolobiker5601 Thanks Dave, It means a lot for the help and advice.. whilst I'm waiting for the battery to arrive could I ask about the brakes? My brakes are Cantilever and I see that In the Diagram that it has 2 leads from the controller for the brakes, I've read that when the brakes are applied that it will cut out the motor.. can I use my existing brakes for this or do I need to upgrade my brakes to Disc Brakes? Can you help and advise? Many Thanks, Jeff
@@jeffjhcom No worries Jeff , mine were disk brakes but were worked via cable . So I think your brakes will be fine just swap the levers for the ones supplied so the power will be cut as you say. @@PlainVlogs Hi Luke, how are you? I got mine from Ebay but it came from Germany as It's cheaper than buying from the UK, I bought a 52v 20ah as I was told that the Conversion Kit controller can take up to 56v and I had someone tell me online that it's a powerful battery, It's a bit on the big side and a little heavy, but not too much, I would have preferred one of the normal downtube removable batteries, but, they cost as much as I paid, for less power, although, now that I've bought it I do wish I hadn't due to the size factor.. but here's the link to it, take a look, it only took one week to arrive. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UPP-52V-20Ah-Lithium-Ebike-Battery-for-1000W-1200W-1500W-Motor-Triangle-Case-LED/392996557131
Anyone know if you can do a regen-braking mod to these? Biggest problem I had was getting the brake disc to fit on it. Had to get a new rotor and fabricate a bracket.
All bikes in UK are limited to 15 mph , but mine had the option to not connect a wire which limited it . Obviously that is illegal in UK unless are on private land 🤫
@@davesolobiker5601 I know about the speed limit, but reading about it on the gov website said it was also limited by 250w. I would have no problem getting a larger wattage and just keeping the speed low, but if its not allowed at all I will have to go low power. I have a big bike trailer to pull or I would just stick to pedaling, I'm only asking about it here because it seems confusing that so many people have what the gov website says isn't allowed and I'm not sure what to order. Thanks for your response btw.
I wasn’t aware of the 250w limit but having just checked the gov website . It seems you can have a higher watt bike but it needs registered and insured and a helmet worn . I am guessing there are a lots of illegal e-bikes out there and telling the difference will be difficult. I have seen lots of kids racing around on high powered Ebikes without pedalling so that is a big giveaway to the police . I suppose it’s down to wether you want to take a risk on getting a higher output but 250w with a trailer will in my opinion struggle.
@@davesolobiker5601 yeah I figured it wouldn't really be a problem to have 500w or so, its just my paranoia that makes me ask. I can pedal with the trailer full of shopping as it is, but I wanted something to make it a bit easier. So the general idea is get a more powerful wattage but keep the speed under 15mph and if anyone asks say its 250w ;-)
hello, very good video but unfortunately you have skipped the connection part between the battery and the controler on your battery have Anderson connectors and the controller have BULLET connectors how you did it? thank you
Hi , it because the video was made over a few weeks . I connected the battery with some normal screw type electrical connectors . I just cut of the connecters either side and joined together that way .
What's the furthest you've ridden? Over the last couple of years I've realised by cyclists use padded shorts, clip on shoes and even noticed that proper cyclists all have super thin seats, and after riding a few 40 mile rides, I realised why. Your sit bones are supposed to fit around the seat, not sit on top of the gel cushions. The gel might feel comfortable at first but after a while your arse it gonna hurt. Also, did you ever get caught / pulled over?
absolutely correct , when I’m on the Ebike it’s mostly to commute so short stints in the saddle . saying that I have a road bike with a proper racing saddle and I still get a sore arse anything over 25 miles 😂

But what I would say is once the brakes are all fitted I would test for how well they stop you as the bike will now be heavier and faster ! Hope this helps atb Dave
Hi Jeff, can I ask where you got your battery from? I'm struggling to find a decent place to buy a battery without costing a limb
Doing your laundry while recording your build... LOL
Yep 😂
I just wear a headlamp instead of putting a light on the frame that you'll eventually forget to bring with you that gets stolen.
Anyone know if you can do a regen-braking mod to these? Biggest problem I had was getting the brake disc to fit on it. Had to get a new rotor and fabricate a bracket.
Not sure on that one
Disc/rotor should fit on easily, you must have bought an oddball motor
Thank you I enjoyed your video
Thanks much appreciated 👍
Can't go wrong with a marin
Isn't there a limit to 250w in the uk? I was planning a 1000w one until I found that out
All bikes in UK are limited to 15 mph , but mine had the option to not connect a wire which limited it .
Is your kit a 27.5” or a 26”?
Mine was 26” wheel
What's the furthest you've ridden? Over the last couple of years I've realised by cyclists use padded shorts, clip on shoes and even noticed that proper cyclists all have super thin seats, and after riding a few 40 mile rides, I realised why. Your sit bones are supposed to fit around the seat, not sit on top of the gel cushions. The gel might feel comfortable at first but after a while your arse it gonna hurt. Also, did you ever get caught / pulled over?
absolutely correct , when I’m on the Ebike it’s mostly to commute so short stints in the saddle . saying that I have a road bike with a proper racing saddle and I still get a sore arse anything over 25 miles 😂
good
Thanks
Hiw wide must the rear dropout be for the 1000 watt kit
Not sure as I have sold this bike on now sorry
500£ is cheap? I guess...
Cheap if you already have a bike to convert 👍
@@davesolobiker5601 I spent 100$ on my conversion, $150 if you include the battery. Already had a bike to convert.
now that’s cheap 👍
Hello dear you can ride good 👍 for your age 😅has fin😊
Thanks but I’m a young 56😂
"cheap" conversion
Yep as the title says 👍
