In the US Bail money is returned if the defendant actually shows up to all court dates. I'm not sure the brat is that level of stupid as to try and skip going to court. So it's not actually lost as it gets returned at the end of the trial no matter the outcome.

As a parent myself, the father should have let Amanda go through and suffer her own consequences. I have always told my children that if I get a call from a jail and the reason for them being in jail was because they had actually committed a crime then they were going to sit and go through it. No bailout.
These are tough decisions but we all know what the outcome is when you continually bail your children out of their problems. As a parent, you have to be tough to ensure that your children are prepared for life on their own as a productive and successful member of society.
Expensive weddings are a red flag.
Unless you can afford it yourself without asking others, yeah, it is. Big weddings are pretty if done right, but smaller weddings are adorable and much more personable.

I've heard other stories of folks doing this (notably the woman who dropped her grandkidds from a secret affair baby off at her dil and claimed they were HERS to break up her marriage) and I'm wondering do these folks forget there are DNA tests now, plus the parents of said kidnapped kids looking for them??? As a golden child myself, this makes me so happy. But unlike many of these stories, I’m actually a doctor and much richer than my siblings, enough that I have more property then both of them combines. What’s more, my father gave me his estate as well (I’m the bio kid). Sorry, but in real life… golden kids end up much happier.

It’s funny how OP was framed as the golden child by S-S, even though she knew she had not dated her fiancé for over 3 years. Ladies and gentlemen, this is what happens when someone is never taught boundaries, that the work no is a complete sentence and is never taught accountability. Due to their grandiose opinion they have of themselves and they are even more huge fragile Texas sized ego, empathy along with humility end up taking a permanent vacation. As far as Amanda goes, I would have let her rot. Even landing in jail didn't serve as a wake-up call for her. Just based off of her behavior which ranges from but is not limited to the blame shifting, gaslighting, minimizing concerns, use of flying monkeys, triangulation and acting like the victim when she is, in fact, the villain indicates that Amanda is not capable of changing and probably never will. She comes off more like an overgrown middle school mean girl who never emotionally matured past the age of 11 instead of a grown adult.
Her knee-jerk reaction to throw a tantrum when she doesn't get her way is very off-putting. Her inability to see that she is the root cause of all of her problems in her life will only lead to her continuing down a one-way road of self-destruction. So she's got a few friends that are coddling and telling her what she wants to hear while puffing up her already overinflated ego. So what? I guarantee you they won't be there when the going gets rough.
I'm pleasantly surprised OP and her family have chosen to totally distance themselves from Amanda. Obviously the divorce was traumatic for Amanda and she still has issues around parental love and financial support so she wanted them paying for a big wedding test their love for her, in her mind supposedly her mother giving zero, stepmother not contributing is double rejection from both mother figures and father does not pay all so he apparently does not love her enough. But where is all that parental love? Her stepsister has it all. They could be open with finances and think ahead. Separate or from a common budget they could make it fair for both girls: op’s college fund is hers to keep gör whatever surely. If op’s mother saved for her from her own finances that goes to op. If Amanda’s father saved for Amanda and it should be at least as much as what op’s mom saved for op that goes to Amanda. If Amanda’s mother had saved for her that would have gone to Amanda as well. If op’s stepdad plans to give 10k to op so should op’s mom to Amanda. All conflict could have been avoided by this or similar arrangements in advance. Also who to marry or not to marry is an adult’s own decision even if probably won’t last. But Amanda’s father could have informed her that he definitely will not pay for a second wedding ever.
