I think it's because it can be a grey area. While this is blatant parentification, where do you define the line between helping your fam and parentification?
To write a law you have to define it in black and white. Situations differ.
I definitely agree a law should be written, but how would you write such a law would be the question?
      Edit:
I'm not a law maker but to my knowledge there's often supposed to be measurable/definable parameters. Somebody should definitely work on this but tbh right now the people in charge of lawmaking right now happen to be the same generation that don't see a problem with parentification.

@@Gabbz737NEWidk if you’ve noticed but there are so many laws that aren’t written in complete black and white most have gray areas hence the reason for lawyers. The law should be written to protect minors from parentification which would be any amount of care a child is required to give a sibling because of a parent that would harm the original child. And the law already defines harmful acts as anything that is bodily harm, mental harm, emotional harm, or any form of societal harm. So the law could be written but no one in the generation in control wants to do that.

It's about 5-10 minutes away even as an adult when she was dying she told my mom the only way I could stay in the stupid will was if I was over there everyday LITERALLY THIS IS WHAT MOM TOLD ME NOT MOM'S STUPID SIBLINGS WHO SHOULD HAVE BEEN WRITING OUT by that point I was going through alot of stuff MAINLY caused by that side of the family plus the affect of being bullied by them and the kids from school for years I had graduated by that point was finally hitting me hard to the point I barely left the house or even my room I think I suffered some kind of depression or my emotions were finally breaking down I don't know I barely even made it to her funeral well I was forced to go to it

He was the one who said the hurtful things to her and drove her away. Him coming back and saying "surprise, i was being controlled by someone else like a puppet," would be hardly believable and he definitely does not deserve a second chance with the same woman. This literally happened to my husband but it was much worse. His mother remarried and had another baby when he was 14. She lied to the government and claimed he was being home schooled but then didn’t follow up with the home schooling and instead just worked those hours while dumping her daughter into him. She justified this by paying him $30 a week saying she was paying him and that somehow made it okay. lol
When he turned 18 he politely asked his mother to make arrangements for his little sister so he could get a job to save up and move out. His mother started sobbing hysterically and accused him of betraying his family.
The next day he came home from job seeking and all his stuff including his computer were scattered on the lawn in the rain. His entire family took her side. It was her word against his. I think this is the only situation I’ve ever witnessed where a parent was angry that their child wanted to work. It was really strange.
His grandparents then started watching his sister full time. She only saw her parents once a week. I’m not sure what his mother was expecting. That he would just live with them for the next 18 years to parent her child?
Not his fault. She should have worn a condom! Oh well. She also called me a snake for poisoning him against her for pointing out to him that what his mother was doing was kind of screwed up.

@alext9320 this situation is just horrible all around. The wife absolutely didn't deserve how she was treated by OP and he did not deserve to be manipulated so vilely by his family. Yes, he is at fault for not thinking for himself and doing that. But he sounds like he was heavily reliant on his family well before and they took advantage of that trust. Hopefully the two of them will make better lives now that they are apart.

At first, it sounded about what family should do during a major change, adapt together and work together while things are a shit show. Like when a mom first goes back to work after a maternity leave. But this quickly became parentification, which is no es bueno unless the older kid is actually the parent and is going to be taking over full time duties after graduating high school... but even then you have to make sure they can finish school and better their life before heaving their actual child on them full time. This is disgusting, and may CPS have no mercy on the parents.

I think a lot of the time people get the meaning of the word forgive confused
How the wife in The second story said she doesn't forgive him but she doesn't have any grudges, those are oxymorons
Forgiveness is what she was doing, not holding grudges and wanting the best for him
You can forgive someone and still kick them out of your life.
That's exactly what she did and I give her props for being able to forgive the man
Not forgive him as in she's going to give him another chance but forgive him in the sense that she doesn't hate him

They want to feel whatever it is and use these things to achieve that - want to feel flustered and giggly? Watch a RomCom! Want to gasp in shock and feel scared? Watch a Thriller! And so on and so forth. Plus, yeah? Of course most of these stories are fake, most things on the internet are fake. You can't prove it's real, but you really can't prove it's not either, it's the way of the web man

Narcissistic parents are the absolute worst. My gf ex husband put chemicals in their daughter’s hair to give it a perm. She 8 and didn’t want it. She came home with chemical burns on her face. We had to go to court to have an order stating he can’t put chemicals in her hair anymore. The next weekend he had her him , his mother and his new gf sat her down and made her make a video saying it was the checmicals he puts in her hair. But the children’s hair dye that we put in for her Halloween costume months before. The same dye 80% of her school uses. And preceded to sent the video to my gfs lawyer. Not his own. And state that it’s my gfs fault and not his.

Being over 60 I have seen how a pregnancy can change a woman, temporarily or permanently. Sounds like after you brother was conceived and born is when everything changed. In old school the older child helped, almost to the point of raising, with the younger children. Times have changed that. Look up narcissist and your mother is showing all characteristics of it. Maybe it was always there since her own mother went NC. Hope you try to get scholarships because you sound extraordinary. Good luck and hope you and your dad repair your relationship.

Forgiveness is a tricky thing. You may never forgive the actions and the person they were, however, it sounds very much like OP, and his ex are in a much better place than they were. I would not be surprised if, after much-needed therapy, she told him that she does forgive him just not the actions he took. Forgiveness is not guaranteed and is only given when your actions change is usually saved as a comment for people who are not seeking true forgiveness, but are truly seeking a way out of accepting blame, OP is not one of those people and I hope he and his ex can remain on good terms, if not friendly ones. It’s clear they’re never getting back together, but she seems like a good positive effect in his life, so I hope they can remain cordial.
