Yes!!! SOA is one of my favorites
Ooooh I just started SOA and it happens to line up with y’all! Hell ya
If I had to guess, "gator in a vest" would just be those words used to form "investigator". Not so much a pun as it is jumble word play
"It's fun watching someone experience something for the first time." That's why reaction channels are so wonderful.
And because you can see it with someone and dont feel alone? no? no? fvck
Yes! I just had an embarrassing moment with my boyfriends family trying to explain why I watch reactions on UA-cam. They did nooot get it and thought I was a weirdo lmfao. I just love watching people experience shows/movies that I love!
@@bribrimarie same omgg
@@bribrimarie People don't get it unless they experience it.
@@bribrimariesame. My mom looked at me like I'm crazy
Bella’s screaming NO after getting bit was so realistic, like after Henry shoots himself. Incredible performances
bella is blowing me away im loving her so so much as ellie i couldnt imagine someone better (apart from ashley johnson ofc hehe)
The unfinished joke....
What do you call an alligator in a vest?
An investigator.
Thanks, saved me a google.

you're the best, thanks for finishing the pun
When Ellie realizes the bit and scream "Noooo"
The camera closes on her face
Amazing shot.
Excellent acting at that moment too her facial expression was too real
Amazing acting
Yea that's when she realized this wasn't uncharted 😂😂😂
Agree, her scream after realising she was bitten was great acting and Riley's almost resignation after showing she was also bitten was so well acted. I love the game and the show so much.
When Ellie said to Joel it wasn't her first time she killed someone, she wasn't referring to the infected. She waited for Riley to turn and was likely forced to kill her. Tragic.
Yea that’s what I was thinking too….
*They kissed*
Zombie: No it ain't!!!! I THINK ITS SUPPER TIME!!!
Ellie and Riley: 💀
Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey hardly had dialogue in this episode, but you felt the tension and panic without words being said in that room. Storm Reid and Bella Ramsey also had amazing chemistry, too. Let's all basically skip school in a post apocalyptic world.
I also love how at the end Ellie is nervous, but she's committed to help Joel get better no matter what by sewing his wound because she lost Riley and doesn't want to lose Joel next because he's the second person she loved since Riley. God the storytelling is fantastic.
Just like the game. She’s lost Riley , Tess, Sam, she is NOT gonna lose Joel.
@@Twocoolman115 "I'm still waiting for my turn" it's so sad when she says that in the game.
Pedro said plenty with his expressions. What do you expect a dude who's been stabbed in the gut to say? Haha, just kidding around. I know what you mean.
this show keeps getting better with every episode. The Last of Us just rips out whatever’s left of your heart from the previous week every Sunday night
Ariana, what are you doing here?
you should have carried on reacting to it :(
What are you smoking? This show sucks. Nothing like the game. Barely any action scenes, all boring babbling trash. Woke garbage.
Why stopped reacting to it my king ?
I think Bella and Storm did some amazing acting work in this episode. I was really impressed by some of the subtle work they did
Storm really have the energy of Zendaya, which is funny since she plays her little sister in Euphoria
@@madtitan0825 She was also on Suicide Squad as the daughter of one of the Suicide Squad members. The one with the rat phobia.
@@dwnkaomwn3953 yeah
They really had great chemistry and Ellie and Riley have so much of the same energy, it’s easy to see why they connected so well.
I guess the director of this one had a huge part in making them feel comfortable according to Craig. It really shows. Bella is much more comfortable as ellie here.
the little glances in the mirror and fixing her hair, the “you planned stuff?”. the little smiles, the checking to see if the other is enjoying it…. riley took ellie on a date.
"it's fun seeing someone experience something for the first time" - steve describing reaction channels
One thing that makes it even worse for Ellie is that Riley and Ellie fell asleep in the mall waiting for the end to come. Which means Ellie most had to kill Riley when she woke up and realized she hadn't turned. Or maybe she just ran away but I doubt it.
Also, Bella did an amazing job this episode! To me this was her best performance of the show so far.
Ellie probably referred to her killing Riley back in episode 4 ("this wasn't my first time")
I agree, have always supported Bella but I especially loved her in this episode.
I doubt they fell asleep after that
@@rumham7466 next episode is about david
The pain and loss that Ellie felt is more palpable when looking back to other episodes, you can really sense why shes afraid of ending up alone.
The carousel ride where Eli was staring at Riley was a powerful moment, made so much more profound with the addition of the 'The Cure - Just Like Heaven' playing on the music box slowed down etc
joel gripping ellie's hand and ellie squeezing back made me 😭
The placement of this episode does make sense even with the main game. This DLC episode plays out similarly to the game DLC where you do get Riley and Ellie's backstory while also having time jumps with Ellie searching for supplies to help Joel. That's why the placement for this episode does fit perfectly with the main game and its DLC.
love that the show is focusing more on what makes tlou story and dialogue so great instead of 59 minutes running around killing clickers. 10/10 every episode so far
I agree, the emotional action is much more interesting than physical action, it's what makes this story so great, the characters.
yes. even if simply due to the fact that having 5min of story and then 40min of killing clickers works in a game, i would get really boring really fast in a tv series.
even at the beginning of the show with the pre-pandemic opening its like they "just" took out all the action passages from the game that were basically THE gameplay and only focused on the story and expand on it all and only have passages that would be actiony- gameplay if it is necessary for the story.
LOVE IT
This is possibly the saddest show I've ever seen. Need to be in a great mood before watching it.
That is the difference between this show and the Walking Dead.
The creator even said it is a story about love and more of a drama than a action show
The escalator is the perfect example of Rule #32: You gotta enjoy the little things.
Imagine the part where Ellie had to drag Joel down those stairs. Bumping his head on every step on the way down lol
I know the game so I was ready for what was about to happen and it still broke my blackened heart. The acting has been absolutely wonderful throughout the series.
"It's over."
"It will be... but not yet. It ends this way for everyone sooner or later, right? Some of us just get there faster than others. But we don't quit."
This destroyed me... so much...
What destroyed me even more was seeing joel hold ellies hand
He really thinks he will die and that is one of the last things he would do
He just embraces her love truthfully
I have never watched a tv show that has consistently made me either cry or tear up almost every episode. I think there might have been one show where I cried once. But this show I've cried probably 4 of the episodes. And I teared up at least a little on the others. Can anyone tell me a show that has ever done that???
They said in the aftershow that this entire mall is a set. They did an incredible job on it.
I haven’t played the dlc so I was really looking forward to seeing this. They did a really good job of portraying this sort of young crush/first love type of thing. Bella and Storm did a wonderful job, both really good actresses.
Yeah the Northland Village Mall was basically a ghost mall before hand so 😂 the really didn't have to do much
Bella is so incredible in this role I can’t imagine anyone else doing it
And yet crybabies are still mad she doesn't look like the character BIG DEAL after the 1st episode I was on board with her
For a "zombie show" the acting is top notch. Not just Pedro and Bella but everyone, especially the single episode actors.
The Last of Us' secret purpose? To give Nikki a ton of puns to throw at folks for the rest of existence! 🤣
Don’t have a problem with it either.
one thing that upsets me after is that ellie had to either kill riley or leave when she found out that riley turned and not her, that must've been so heartbreaking for her. but then again in episode 4 she said this wasn't her first time, so meaning she probably did kill riley. that's just painful. both bella and storm did an amazing job in this episode. the chemistry was there and they put on a good performance this episode.
that’s probably why she asked joel if they were still people inside 😭
nikki, i actually cried more at your reaction to ellie and riley's kiss than anything else during this reaction. as a pansexual girl with parents who are not very accepting and have a generally "don't ask, don't tell" attitude toward that part of me it just hit me (in a good way) seeing a parent react like that. your girls are lucky and thank you for being so accepting and having such a warm heart (both of you). ❤
agreed! they’re amazing parents i also have parents who aren’t very accepting and not being able to talk to them about the small things like having crushes on other guys in the same way my sister is able to bring her boyfriend over whenever she wants always hurt a lot. seeing how loving she is and just knowing they would love their daughters no matter what is so heartwarming. it makes me so happy to see parents react that way towards lgbt characters
The show can really make actors shine even though they only have one episode role and that definitely happend with Storm
I can honestly say you guys are one of the few reactors who I praise for not spoiling anything from the game and I appreciate it. I unfortunately learned who Riley was back in episode 2 😑. Love your reactions as always ❤
We are doing our best so we appreciate the comment.
Left Behind is definitely one of the best story DLCs in game that honestly could've been it's own game. Funny enough in a twist of fate? irony? It became it's own TV episode. Another solid episode, another great reaction.
Seeing Nikki look and admire Steven while he talks in the beginning is everything. ❤love you guys.
FOR NIKKI: What do you call an alligator in a vest? An investigator!
I've noticed some of the complains about Bella portraying Ellie tend to be because she doesn't look "conventionally attractive", which is the dumbest reason on Earth, she's an amazing actress.
Not to mention she's portraying a 14 years old teen.
People are fucking perverts.
I didn't like her as Ellie at all for the first 3 episodes but she grew on me after the rest.
She’s also 14… so her “attractiveness” is a weird point to get stuck on in the first place
bella dose a fantastic job of reminding us that her character Ellie was Born into this world she has never known anything else, and they joy she shows even with the simple things that we take for granted is written all over her face.
Love how many scenes were identical to the game, they were done so well along with Bella and Storm's excellent chemistry as Ellie and Riley!
I absolutely love that y'all are so aware of spoilers. I didn't play the game and really appreciate your reactions without saying what really happens in the game. Love this channel.
I'm one of those ppl who had a hard time accepting Bella as Ellie. But as every single episode passed by she proved I'm so wrong about her. Great Balls of fire! She's fantastic, she's doing some subtle acting choices that makes me stunned.q
I love that she’s still wearing the striped shirt from the DLC.
Also can we talk about how Take on me started playing, which is an 80’s song. If you remember, bill and frank coded 80’s as meaning trouble. So even if you hadn’t played the dlc, you’d know this mall isn’t safe just because of the music. Interesting touch.
THATS SUCH A SMALL BUT INCREDIBLE DETAIL OMGGG
also a reference to ellie singing it in part2!
“Anyways, OLD-“
Nikki: FUCK OFF 😂😂😂
We appreciate your effort and hard work, Nikki & Steven. God bless you all.
Between the heartwarming cute moments showcasing Ellie and Riley finally being able to act like kids again for once, if only for a little while...... only to rip it all away again for the seventh time in a row (damn you, show), this never ending River of tragedy that follows Ellie is emblematic of not just the shows central theme but why Ellie continues to fight, to carry on.
It showcases her and Riley on opposite sides of an ideological, real and tribalistic conflict before they lay down their arms and come together to just be close for a little while because they're each others purpose in this moment; a fascinating parallel to the Bill and Frank love story and why it matters greatly when Ellie continues to lose and lose. And now that she does have someone who looks after her, who she can depend on, who matters to them, she’ll be damned if she loses them again.
For Riley’s sake and everyone else who died, Ellie will finish this journey……even if it kills her.
"it's fun watching someone experiencing something for the first time."
hence, why i watch your channel :)
Storm Reid id phenomenal in every role she’s in! Perfect as Riley!
Yesterday I read an article about the
dangers of drinking too much...
It scared the hell out of me, so today
I've decided never to read it again.
For the entire episode I was saying: Oh they are so cute together 🤩....
What's going happen to ruin everything!?
We all knew exactly where that was going. It’s not even surprising at this point. Shows these days making me feel like a prophet.
@@Eastra3 But it wasn't supposed to be surprising, in the very first episode, they already mention that Riley is dead, not directly, but they do and the writers made it very clear that the person Ellie was talking about when she said that she had already lost people and that she had already killed someone before meeting Joel was Riley. The purpose of the episode was to develop Ellie's psychological narrative, not to surprise anyone.
@@sofiabento3024 That is not what I was talking about lol.
@@Eastra3 I mean, do you know what you wrote? Lol
@@sofiabento3024 they were probably talking about how ellie and riley were feeling as they sorted out feelings for each other.
Damn Bella’s acting in this episode was top notch. The pain and anger I’m her voice after the attack was rough and she even sounded like Ellie.
Ellie holding Joel’s hand & him squeezing hers back KILLLLSSSS MEEEEE
I love that the HBO/Warner collab makes it able to have Mortal Kombat 2 in the Last of Us. The game was only able to homage that idea.
Fun fact - you might recognize FEDRA officer from the start of the episode - its Terry Chen who is also played the role of Prax in The Expance 🙂
I knew it! I knew that actor from somewhere!
So cool seeing Prax from the expanse as cpt kwong
Damn it!! Knew he felt familiar.
@@NikkiStevenReact "This is Joel, he's my best friend in the whole world.."
Haha that was me, I was just watching along, then all of a sudden I'm like, "Hey look, it's Prax!!".
I’m the person who broke 5 toes just walking on a sandy footpath, I would have zero chance jumping from building to building. I’d be dead 5 minutes after the apocalypse starts.
Take out as many "zombies" as you can before you go!
I love they played "Just Like Heaven" on the merry go round.
I am not a gamer and had never heard of The Last of Us before this show. It is so incredibly good. And your channel of reactions is the best one I've found, we should start a drinking game every time Nikki says "aw, that's so sweet", or "I love her!" haha.
The carousel scene with Just Like Heaven by The Cure playing in the background.
The Cure = Ellie's immunity
The layers of symbolism in this show are incredible
I love that this is the second episode 7 reaction I’ve watched where someone loves puns so much they’re pained not knowing the Alligator answer
Riley: There's a million ways we should’ve died before today. And a million ways we can die before tomorrow. But we fight...
for every second we get to spend with each other. Whether it’s two minutes. Or two days. We don't give that up.
I don't want to give that up. My vote. Let’s just wait it out. You know, we can...be all poetic and just lose our minds together.
The mall in the town where I lived when I was a kid was only one floor, so I didn't see my first escalator until I was maybe six years old? I vaguely remember it, but yeah, even knowing what it was, it was still magical the first time I saw one in person.
I loved this episode. Really liked the ‘Halloween shop, masks & dance’ scene.
It was very well done
His name is Pedro! (Actor Joel's real name.) Pedro Pascal from Mandalorian, also he was in GoT but I don't know him in that I haven't watched that show.
you should its a great show
My experience watching TV Shows is usually watching it myself and then almost immediately afterwards, I watch the Nikki & Steven Reaction video for that episode. It's like watching with family.
Gabriel Luna also played Ghost Rider on Agents of Shield TV show...
The fact they got the ACTUAL audio from the MKII machine and the correct buttons for Baraka's Fatality made my inner 15-year-old very happy.
Beautiful and tragic episode. Ellie taking care of Joel is everything to me. I'm so excited for the next one.
Good episode building up the backstory. Great casting as usual and the dynamics between the two girls was awesome. Great opening and ending scenes. Doing whatcha gotta do. Thanks for the show.
This episode was really faithful to the DLC and with a few references to the comic book The Last of Us: American Dreams.
I love this show so much
Seeing the West Edmonton Mall and Alberta's familiar landscape on screen is wild to me! I can't wait to see the hospital, those scenes were filmed in my hometown, Grande Prairie!
I cried while watching the ending part.
Agreement on all fronts! As usual you know I love watching yall react! Miss you guys and this Last of US ride has been super emotional!
Fun fact: the modern escalator debuted as a fairground ride in the 1890s, before being given the more practical uses we know them for today.
Great reaction. I don't remember this part of the game that much either but I did play it. I had to watch comparison breakdown videos to refresh my memory right quick. I don't want this season to end already I am having way to much fun watching all of this come to life. And I do agree with you Steven these episodes have been going so fast. I took my time playing the game simply cause I love scavenging.
I love the dad jokes. Nikki rocks.
An excellent point brought up by Chris Stuckmann was that in a previous episode Ellie said it wasn’t her first time shooting someone. Makes us wonder if the first person she shot was Riley? Also if Ellie shot her before or after she turned. Both equally terrible and dark.
Love your reactions and love your channel ! Thanks !
I think this episode was important because in the episode before Joel basically tells Ellie that she doesn’t know what loss is
That is the reason why I m watching this channel
I love it 👍🤝
Greets and cheers
MIK
I always stay up till you guys upload!!! 😌😌
Such an amazing episode. Love every bit of it! It made me think and talk about what we take for granted. My mom and I talked about, the video stores, the magazines of games that I still have. The joy on Ellie her face as she sees the wonders of the mall. Absoluty amazing, the connection between Riley and Ellie, and Ellie and Joel.
Listening to the podcast after watching the episode made me smile. This show is amazing. I love it so much❤️
I want a carousel that plays The Cure's "Just Like Heaven"
An "Investigator"...LOL,I HAD to know too!!!!!🐊
What do you call an alligator in a vest? An investigator!
Yeah, I've seen different opinions, but for me, the strongest side of the show is the casting - every single choice, from main to side characters has been on point for me.
I think the punchline for the alligator ina vest is 'investigator' but I could be wrong. XD
I haven't played the game yet. I am loving this series, and I always look for your reactions afterwards too! I am at the point (actually before this point, but I can't help being an optimistic kind of crazy person) that I do NOT trust that any "feel good" stuff I see is not going to end up in ultimate tragedy. At this time in the show, every time I see a High Point, I just assume the more fun/funny/heartwarming it is, the worse the end of the episode is going to be. Still going to watch though, along with you two (perhaps masochistic, but I'm in.)
As a non-game player, thank you for not spoiling anything! The only thing I'm wondering is if the stuff that's been foreshadowed in previous episodes (like the stuff y'all mentioned from Jackson) will happen by the end of this season, or if they're setting it up for future seasons.
Song on the merry-go round was Just like Heaven by the Cure. Sounded like a lullaby version.
you guys seem like nice ppl, I appreciate that
I believe the FEDRA officer is the same actor who was in The Expanse that played the botanist who was looking for his daughter.
23:49 The answer to the joke is "The Investigator"
As a person who played the game many times (more than five times each part😉) and knowing every little details about the story. It is amazing to see how much they are expanding on each characters. And now after seeing her, loving someone and loosing that person in front of her make it more reliable for those who didn't play the game that why she is so desperate to save Joel and can't loose someone else she loves.
I was a little selfish this episode lol wanted to see more Joel and Ellie dynamic but I know they have to build the story great episode 💯
What do you call an alligator in a vest...an investigator. Lol
fun to see terry chen pop up in the episode as Kwong aka prax aka plant guy!
Y’all are my favorite. Wanted to say that before watching the reaction.
Btw, an alligator in a vest is called an investigator!
Did not expect to see Angrboda on tonight's episode.
Wow I was waiting for you guys to react to who Kwon was being played by. That was Prax from the Expanse. You know Mai's dad who's not that guy.
A Investigator is what you call a Alligator in a Vest, Nikki
12:04. Ellie does have a point: the FEDRA in Kansas City got wiped out by Kathleen's militia, & 2 weeks later a Horde takes out most of the militia then makes its way to the city with almost no one left to defend it.
The actor who plays Tommy in the show is Gabriel Luna. No relation to Diego Luna (Andor). Just FYI...
Nikki is the first reactor I’ve seen so far who had the same reaction I did, “go get some soap, girls!”
No way ANY of that mall could've had COMPLETE operational integrity like, in every facet, 😅😅😅 but yeaaaahh ok .. Steve knows 😵💫
