Post menopause and it's really difficult to lose weight, only thing that's working is intermittent fasting and my women friends of the same age are finding the same thing. I've always eaten a healthy diet, I barely drink alcohol at the moment and I can't eat dairy nor a few vegetables like onion and corn, that I discovered by a FODMAP diet.

INTERMITTENT FASTING is the BEST!!!! Eating window from 1pm til sundown… begin: Coffee & green Tea & lemon Water with apple cider vinegar in the morning , brisk walk, weight training…At 1pm, kale, chicken, spinach, cilantro, parsley, tomatoes, shredded red cabbage, cucumber, avocado mixed with 1 teaspoon of chia seeds, sliced mango, blueberries, cinnamon mixed together and then add olive oil and MCT oil and massage it in your salad. Yes, massage- I know it sounds weird but apparently it opens up the kale and spinach and the nutrients. So Yummy!!! Early evening: Vega protein shake with almond milk, frozen dragon fruit & blueberries. Snack: FAGE yogurt. Fruit, Brazil nuts, Almonds, Mint tea. WATER ALL DAY!

Until sundown? Do you modify that in the summer? I go to bed before the sun goes now right now, lol. But anyhoo, all sounds delicious. I've done similar but my eating window closed at 6pm. I find IF to be easier when on a low carb diet and much easier on days where I slept in. I woke up at 4am this morning and I would have a hard time fasting past 11am on day like that. (For the record, I no longer intermittent fast).

Few years back I was diagnosed with a non alcoholic fatty liver.
I was very surprised because I am (and was) in shape, ate healthy (for the most part,) and don’t drink alcohol (very rarely a beer or glass of wine.)
However, I did eat a lot of sweets (due to stress.)
Them glazed donuts and Tiramisu cake from Publix supermarket nearly impossible to resist 😅
Their entire bakery is on point!
Ate lots of white bread as well (Ciabatta bread the fav.)
Nutella, Ferrero Rocher chocolate, Dove dark chocolate, and so on… All the yummy stuff 🤤 😁 🙈
My cholesterol was on a high end too for some reason.
All I did is limited my sweet intake and on the next check up (follow up) my levels were normal (and been ever since.)
I didn’t really do anything different than slowing down eating sweets, and drinking more green tea (with lemon and raw honey.)
    Just my experience.

You're a perfect example of why people are sick. You deluded yourself. Don't drink; oh barely! Eat healthy; oh mostly; in great shape; kinda. A buddy of mine had a brother in law that had a stroke at 35. I asked him how he was before the stroke. " Oh he was big strong guy, great shape. Oh he smoked and was taking drugs for high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but other than that he was fine" In other words, a walking stroke

These messages were promoted by the US government and food incorporated. With generations of such messages, PSAs, subsidies and the lack of nutrition science being taught, it can be easy for someone to stick with the foods and messaging that have recently been disproven. If one is fortunate, one can be educated in time to avoid the need for a health crisis to spur a change. Becoming prediabetic was my wake up call. I deglaze it with vegetable stock and add tomato purée. Then kidney beans, diced potatoes 1 canned tomatoe pieces and kale. When the food has cooled down to approx. 45 C, I add miso to taste as a salt substitute. You can also leave out the potatoes and add wholegrain rice or rye grains.

Hi Dr. Liu - Please answers these questions, Thank You:
    - When consuming cruciferous or other veggies for their fiber & health benefits,
are we to eat them raw or cooked?
People always tell us what foods are good for us, but the rarely tell us the proper
food prep or if the foods need to be eaten raw or cooked.
    - Microwave Ovens - Should we avoid using them or are they safe to cook food in?

Hi Dr. Liu, I have made so many changes to my T2d life since following you. Blueberries, Sweet potatoes, seeds, are all on my weekly menus. May even get up the courage to work in Tofu 🙃. I love this idea of a kale - blueberry smoothie for breakfast drink. I do fast but only from Dinner to Breakfast which has really helped my morning #s to in the 80s. Must be that Balsamic vinegar on my salad. Thanks so much.. I love listening to you and you sharing all your personal body experiences. ❤

Kale tastes good when you cook it like I do. Hears how … grab a stainless steel pan and fill with water boil away add the kale from cold water it’s fine so boil till it wilts soft add ginger and garlic powder and oregano and some rosemary then add some about 2 teaspoons of olive oil or avocado oil to the whole bunch of kale. This is delicious. Next get a Japanese deep bowl add your home made chick pea with no sugar tomato sauce so like a paste sauce you made that’s your beans let’s say. You put this bottom of bowl then add the kale then add avocado then add either fresh salmon wild caught or sardines. More garlic small amount of salt and pepper and yum. If you juice things up you break down the fibres and the blender temperature can change other health benefits potentially it has been said.
Try it the above. And swap out the beans with cannellini beans. Or swap out with purple cabbage also pan boiled then add garlic and vinegar and add to the bowl also add a egg on all combinations it’s delicious
My creation so healthy so yummy 😋
With the added vinegar can be balsamic or white vinegar or apple cider vinegar mothers. You choose what you like. Mix it up. Very healthy.

I look at the glycemic index and load more than at how much carbs there is in a type of food. Favour the carbs with lower indexes for your every day carbs intake. Pay more attention to how often, when and with what other types of food you consume the carbs with higher indexes, as well as your activity level at that time.

A lot of Dr on UA-cam might have seemed contradicting one another. I conclude that your body system is your primary Dr. Personally, the BBBE is the best diet for me, I have tried every other diet known, but none work for me until zero out carbs. Lastly, it might also depend on your body chemistry. Carb populated or fortified foods made me to experience constipation, so since I have jettison Carb densed foods. I am fine, no constipation and tiredness again.

@9:05 you post a study (Prolonged fasting outperforms short-term fasting in terms of glucose tolerance and insulin release: a randomised controlled trial. Published: Cambridge University 03 March 2023)
"These data suggest that the 2-d fast elicited residual impaired glucose tolerance, which may be linked to greater perceived stress during short-term fasting, as shown by the epinephrine response and change in core temperature. By contrast, prolonged fasting seemed to evoke an adaptive residual mechanism that is related to improved insulin release and maintained glucose tolerance."
What the study you posted suggests is:
2 day fasting = stressful with impaired glucose tolerance.
6 day fasting = the body implements an adaptive mechanism related to -improved insulin release and maintained glucose tolerance-.

Have you researched if they’ve already changed the method/process of decaffeination of the coffee beans? Because the last I’ve learned directly from someone who worked at one of those processing plants, it didn’t sound healthy at all (adding several chemicals, extracting both coffee taste and caffeine and then adding the “tasty” part back to the bean, etc). That’s why I sticked to regular coffee, no more than 1 cup a day that is.

I found out that by munching one dry fig every few hours for about 5 months, barely any other food caused fatty liver. I was only 107 lbs, 5'4" .The amount of calorie was very little. The Almost CONSTANT eating of food that are high in fructose, fig has like 60% fructose were the cause.
Clear it back by quitting figs, ate/ swallow raw beef liver, Choline, NAC, and back to only 2- 3 meals a day.
