Great job guys, glad that you enjoyed the bike ;)
    ..I love that "relaxing" overtake at 4:15 on 2nd gear, 7000rpm 😄👍👍👍

Thanks for taking time to do a review. I have one. Lovely bikes. Ignore spreadsheet numbers and just enjoy riding it. Honda’s best engineers did a shed load of engineering on these and 3000 rpm was the ‘sweet spot’ designed in. It’s a low revving lazy engine and when you ride it as designed it’s terrific. 👍

Honestly loved how this thing soaked up bumps! I normally have to raise myself out of the seat so I don't get a kick up the ass on the STR. I'm not kidding when I say I arrive more relaxed than when I left on this bike!

I agree completely about the 3K sweet spot. I read a Honda design brief early on that I can't find now that mentioned the 3K mark. I of course had to put a set of Arrow headers on mine and while it doesn't change that sweet spot it adds a new dimension as it now sounds so sweet as you pass 6K and pulls hard to redline. The problem is you very quickly enter the "go to jail" zone. The 4,500 to 6,000 range is particularly buzzy but it smooths out above that. It's not an issue though since I spend most of my time around 2,500 RPM on the back roads with some superslab time at 3,500 RPM and 75 MPH where the vibration is tolerable. I do love those 3rd gear run ups to the ton though whenever I think I can get away with it. So far so good.

I keep looking at the Honda CB1100 and really desire owning one.
I love the CB1100EX for the classic looks with spoked wheels but the RS seems the one to drive.
I now live in Thailand and just waiting for one to come up at the right price.

They really are beautiful bikes that trace their heritage back through generations, I'm more a fan of speed and aggressive styling personally. Also, the price is just arbitrary, I'd say go for it and it will hold it's value, two wheels moves the soul!

I did testride the EX before I purchased that RS you see in this vid, but I have tested 4 other classics too: Triumph Street twin, Triumph Bonnie T120, Kawa Z900Rs and Yam XSR900. Before all these the rides the T120 was on the top of my dream list. It ended up last in terms of first impressions. The Kawa came pretty close but the Honda was more appealing for what I was looking for.
It's a funny situation..I had no expectations when I lend my bike to these sporty head bastards (lol) for a short test, they had no knowledge of its existence, neither of its meaning, but they came up with the right words which describes this machine perfectly. I guess that is really the beauty of biking: Try them all, even if you think that particular piece is not for your taste, you might get surprised :)

@@vilmos_csehi I have already decided it is going to be a Honda CB1100. I now live in Thailand so will buy second hand and just wait for the right one to come up at the right price. I already have a Honda Wave 125, Honda Monkey 125 and Honda Rebel 500. I also have a new Honda CRF300L on my list to buy.

This bike is very heavy? Have you tried pushing a cruiser or a goldwing? 550ish pounds isn't that bad.

Loooool I haven’t tried yet! Can’t wait though, those land yachts are calling me name!!

It's heavy considering the z900rs is only about 210kgs. But it's not that bad considering the low center of gravity.

    • @JDuBz815

      @@DerpEye z900rs is a modern sport bike. The cb1100 is not. It's a standard.

It is heavy for what it is. Its 260kg. even the Bonnie T120 weights 30kg less. Normal street bikes 700cc-1200cc are usually around 190kg-230kg. And it's not just heavy, but high centre of gravity which you can feel when you trying to move the bike around on foot. Those big cruisers are low centre of gravity. My friends VTX1300 weight about 100kg more than my CB but it feels quite ok. And dont forget, cruisers are easy to flatfoot, and Goldwing has a reverse. This one don't.
...but when you start rolling, the weight doesn't matter no more

    • @JDuBz815
      @JDuBz815 3 роки тому

@@vilmos_csehi it's not heavy tho. The triumph has 2 cylinders. Try getting one of those actual heavy bikes (cruisers and goldwings) upright by yourself. Then tell me the Honda is heavy. It's not. I worked at a dealer and we pushed 20-40 bikes in and out every day. I have a pretty good idea of what's easy to push and what isn't.
