Ducati Hypermotard 939 SP First Ride | Pure Sound [Raw Onboard]
Brand New to us is this 2016 Ducati Hypermotard 939 SP, here's our first ride through the country side visiting our favourite places and putting the bike through the paces to see what it's made of. First thing I'd say is the brakes need to be addressed as they're a bit spongy.
Since my last motorcycle got stolen, I figured I would get something that's equally as cool but not as hot (or expensive). This particular one has higher miles so I got a great deal on it considering it has full Ohlins front and rear suspension, and that fiery V-twin...sorry, L-Twin.

Weird accent mate😂 sounds American
timing chain noise, on cold start there is always some. when the engine warms up, the block expands a little. making the chain a little tighter. alloy expands more than the steel chain. imo..
Whereabouts was that gorge scenery?
Thank you for this video. I'm considering a similar exhaust for my CB. I appreciate your time and work. Be well!
link for the windscreen please?
How many links?
I got same bike and I clearly say that 36mm socket idea is very frustrating. They used this on steering stem nut too. Why? It's hard to find 36mm. You can just see 32mm on everywhere you look.
In the video you can clearly see that the masterlink is binding severely. You put the side plate on too far. You need to measure the spacing with calipers and compare to the other links. There is also a spec. for the flare of the rivets.
Yes, 15:21
I’m about to do this for the first time on my 14’ 09. New sprockets and chain so what do you suggest I do to avoid making this mistake.
Beautiful bike 😍I have one like this, thanks God🙏
Watching you fuck around withe shift lever made me turn this video off goodbye
Has an oil cooler but the engine is air cooled!
This IS.... 'Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance' - so unlike all the other rather poser like reviews on UA-cam. Thank you.
was that TuneECU there for a sec? what map did you load? trying to do the same here
Awesome video! Very clear and detailed. May i know the chain links number of the chain you used? Looks like did sells it 118L while Triumph oem should be 117L. Just wanna make sure it fits...maybe triumph doesnt count for the removable link while did does...so its the same...thanks!
Bummer about the chain breaking tool. Frustrating that those of us who do these jobs infrequently can't get away with cheaper tools for occasional use rather than expensive professional kit we can't justify. Did you consider changing ratios at the same time? When the time comes with mine I'd like to go down one tooth at the back and up one at the front. Too revvy when not on the twisties.
Just get a cheap chain breaking tool, thats enough to push the pin of the linkage through. To rivet the new chain, AFAM Easy RIV works great and is cheap too!
Or just get it off with an angle grinder
These are all just servicing issues and no more
Hopefully you watched Quadrophenia before you went to Brighton. Shows a little of its motorcycling history.
Fiddly getting those airbox hoses back on again.
Nicely made but not very informative. In my understanding, the rattle is caused by a stretched camchain. The only wearable component in the CCT is the spring that can be changed for cheap (Sprint Manufacturing). It is easy to see if the spring is compressed by measuring the length of it. Also, one has to be very careful when removing the CCT, when done incorrectly, it will cause mistiming of the pistons and the valves with absolutely catastrophic consequences for your engine and will be the death to the bike. I am not trying to be a smart a$$ here, I am preparing myself for replacing the camchain and the CCT as part of a bigger job on my bike.
And to be clear: to fix the rattle you need to change both the camchain and ideally the spring in the tensioner. That procedure involves a lot of work, including removing the cams. Which is why it is expensive. But at least it can be all done without removing engine from the bike…
I think torque values reduce when using loctite?
No they don't although I understand why you might think so.
All torque specifications are with a clean dry Nut and Bolt, If you add any lubricant it will over torque your Bolt. That being said I don't know if Loctite has any lubricant values to it.
@@markkulyas2418 You don't have to change the torque settings for loctite.
I guess I expected a different video.., instead of time lapse and background music.. I was looking for explanations…
Great video man! What year is the bike?
Thanks man! It’s a 2016
Good job. How you figured it was the cam chain tensioner? I guess those wear out. I believe Honda had some issues with those. Nice bike.
It was because the chain and valves would clang for 2 seconds on start up before oil pressure built up in the cam chain tensioner, the street triple was a known problem and there’s an aftermarket piece that’s manual, so you just set it and forget it really, but I couldn’t find any for sale so just bought oem

Oh crap the Panigale got stolen?!?! 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
Yeah, sad times, but we move on
After owning this bike for 5-6 months now, how is it? Ideally I’m gonna buy this bike to take to the track but I do want to ride it to work at least 2-3 times a week, I live in California so lane splitting traffic for cooler air flow won’t be a problem and I got like 4 different Ducati shops in a 20 mile radius to look at my bike if anything goes wrong🤔
Before it got stolen I had it for about a month, I never really got to delve into the good parts of the power band and never got to take in on track, but such is life, it was a great bike but it was not easy to ride for more than an hour at a time, I don’t have much else supersport bike riding experience so can’t compare to other bikes, and if I’m honest, I bought this bike more for show than anything else. Use that info for what you will, definitely recommend test riding one, if you like it, go for it, if you have even a doubt, it will only magnify later on, follow your gut instinct and rip some dank wheelies when you make a decision ;)
Mi
Why did not check the chain slack?
Were you applying loctite to the nuts in 8:21?
He should answer!
Yes sorry for the delay, yes I was applying loctite!!
No offense but you can CLEARLY see he is applying loctite haha.
Tascam settings please
Im 190 cm with really long legs. All scooters seems to smal, so I allways have to keep my legs and feet like in a flying position..LOL! Guess same will apply on this one right! Have a PGO BIG MAX and even it's small I sit pretty great. This awesome scooter seems just a big. Will be good for me right??? 👍 Really need to step up. Sick of that weak 50cc engine. This will be perfect, and man does it look fantastic!!
It’s a general problem with motorcycles, when you’re that tall you’d almost be better off with a dual sport or super Moto 😂 or even a R1200GS, in terms of scooters, I personally own a Vespa primavera 125, and I sit on the back seat regularly for that extra legroom, and this Suzuki address was no different, I’m 183cm with 32inch inseam on the legs. Good luck!!!
@@CagelessDelinquents Yeah I agree buddy! Well alright and I have 36 inch on my pants..so thats that LOL! But I allways seems to manage - keep.my knees together and foot out the side like a flying position. May see funny out I guess but thats comfortable at least, or I can allways do as you do. Sit far back witch I do sometimes 👍🙂 Thanks for the great answer. Appreciated 🙏
Just subbed btw :D
Well hello there....loving your video style :D (Lane) :D
gorgeous bike...remember me from Rykas Cafe! Gesto and Lane, should lemme do a subcribers ride video on it!
I would but it got nicked a few weeks ago 😔
Amazing...!!!!!!
Great review 🙂👍. I have a street triple but I'm going to change to one of these.

Enjoyed this, thanks. How many miles on the bike? And how many do you think are on the chain and sprockets?
Nice one thanks! It had around 20k miles when I did this service, but I don’t know how many miles that chain and sprockets saw, front sprocket for sure 20k, rear was aftermarket that came with the bike when I bought it
