You are finding my favourite bands one after the other by the look of things ...

This is from Wish you were here
You don't just listen to Pink Floyd, you experience them. You won't find a more emotive guitar player than David Gilmour in my opinion, he has the skill to hit your emotions purely through his playing.
Here, here!! This is exactly how I describe Gilmour’s guitar. He has emotions spilling out of his music. That’s why they,be been my favorite band since the 80’s. He is the greatest guitarist of all time.
Thats for sure- In the top ten though :) W e have dpurple, zep, skynyrd, few other ;) Floyd are maybe number one...
You spoke the truth.
One of the biggest or most intimately difficult disputes between Roger and David was from how David was prioritizing melody for meaning, and Roger was, rather, the lyric or story. This conflict brought incredible music but also their demise or later break downs.
Yeah, exactly. Pink Floyd was very slightly before my time though I knew the name and both "The Wall" and "Dark Side of the Moon" album covers from shirts, the occasional pop culture reference, and whatnot. When, out of curiosity, I first tried listening to a couple of tracks as a youngish teen, I thought the songs sounded cool but they didn't really land or particularly resonate with me. Going back as an adult a few years ago and listening again, however, was a totally different experience. Suddenly, things I'd heard people say like "David Gilmour doesn't play one unnecessary note" and "he's making the guitar talk/sing" made 1000% sense.
I mean, "Comfortably Numb" at Pulse? That second solo is so long and yet there's not a moment in it that you think, "Oh, he just added a little flourish there to dress it up," "he's just throwing in a couple of runs to fill space here," or "he's showing off/being flashy at this part" like you easily can with so many lesser guitarists who just want to show you how fast they can run scales like it's some sort of party trick. For a lot of guitarists - especially heavy metal and glam metal guitarists - a solo is a spotlight moment for them to step out from the song, show off, and be the star in between the frontman's vocals. With Gilmour, you never get the sense that he's playing to make you say, "Oh, dang, David Gilmour's so cool!" He's playing to COMMUNICATE the emotion of the song - whatever emotion it needs in the moment - through the instrument (as a musician should). Period. He's there to serve the music, not the other way around. As a teen, I didn't understand why he was considered one of the greatest. As an adult, I GET IT.
Also, as I know many will agree, songs like "Time" hit harder with age. When I heard it as a teen, it was an okay song. Cool, spacy, a vibe. As an adult, that song is just devastating.
Overall, PF was one of those bands that I just wasn't ready for when I first heard them. These days though? Woof. I will absolutely evangelize PF any time I'm given the chance to do so.
I love watching people discovering the majesty of pink Floyd. Probably the greatest band ever.
I’m 68. I saw them in concert 1974 when Inwas 18. Can you even imagine what it was like for my generation?
Amazing❤ only fan since75
Rick Wright's keyboard work on this is next level. A lot of the atmosphere and texture of Pink Floyd was his keys. I've said it before, I'll say it till the day I die. Richard Wright is rock and roll's greatest unsung hero.
Yep. Even though Roger thinks it’s all him, that’s ridiculous, because we all know better.
You are 100% correct about Wright, and Mason for that matter. There is a small% of floyd fans who split into Gilmour or Waters camps, when the reality is,as with all top bands, there was a certain lightning in a bottle magic when the 4 got together that they couldn't match otherwise. I mean I love the Division Bell but Peak floyd will always be the iconic four
I like to think of him as a delicious secret that is known only to the chosen few
I like Wright alot , defo my favourite member of PF .
Gilmour himself said PF died with Richard
One thing you'll notice about Pink Floyd is that they take their time to set the mood for each tune. Only once the table has been set and the candles lit will the meal be served. They have great individual songs but their albums are meant to be listened to in a single sitting. If you do listen to an entire album, you'll notice how each track flows into the next one. This is a rabbit hole that you are going to enjoy very much.
That's one of the things I love most about Floyd ... they're NEVER in a rush to get anywhere. They go where the music takes them, and if it takes 20 minutes to get there, then so be it. They allow the listener to create their own little world where the music can transport them from within. It's pure genius, and pretty much nobody else did that. Except maybe at times the Moody Blues.
“..each track flows into the next one.” Radio stations hate this one cool trick! 😂
That is so true. It is one thing that helped me to fall in love with them. The Dark Side of the Moon and the Wall introduced me to them. The rest just fell into place.
Thats a fucki g super evaluation of them. I couldn't have said it better. Tho I try. They are a feel band. Their music is about painting and emoting. It draws you in, puts you in a state and you feel what they meant. Not many band can do that. Yes some are superficial and take an easy path. Not them, they take the long path. They want you to to have the full experience and see it all.
love the analogy
Full album Darkside of the Moon needed. A sublime album that needs to be heard start to finish. Stayed on the Billboard charts for 20 years till they changed the rules to kick it off.
Start to finish is a MUST listen...NON STOP!
@@gbsailing9436a must like Animals, The Wall, Wish you Were Here, Final Cut, Division Bell, A Momentarily Lapse of Reason…….
Dark Side, two words
Right on.
It's one of my all time favorites.
That's what Floyd does. They suck you in and make you feel things.
I love seeing others discover this band. I never get enough of that look on people's faces when they get their mind blown.
Yes feel. That's the most important part of music. But lost now are about a moment. Floyd resonates long after. They leave an impression on your soul.
I'm 110% on board for the Pink Floyd arc
I love watching people experience pink floyd for the first time. Good luck on your journey man, it's gonna be a good one.

Hallelujah..
I was 20 years old when I bought their UmmaGumma album and I've been listening to them for many years. I'm 71 now and I still listen to them and get chills and it never never gets old
Similar story, Ummagumma was my first album of theirs in 1969, it instantly changed what I thought music could be. Amazed ever since.
@@vicprovost2561Mine too. I bought Piper At The Gates Of Dawn and Saucerful Of Secrets later, but Ummagumma was my entry to the rabbit hole. I was utterly hypnotised by Granchester Meadows, especially through my new headphones. It's an underrated track I think.
Same here, except I'm 2 years younger.
Same here, I'm 'only' 63 but listening to Pink Floyd for decades now. It never gets old!
I am 49 now. Rest of my story with Ummagumma is same as yours; as is with Saucerful of Secrets.
No trumpets, just Richard Wright on a variety of keys, the incomparable David Gilmour on guitars, Nick Mason-drums, and lyricist Roger Waters on bass. Also includes a guest appearance by Dick Parry on sax.
This song is an absolute masterclass on songwriting and composition...perhaps no greater in all of modern music.
While Richard Wright does do a lot of brass-sounding stuff on the keyboards, what he was calling trumpet was saxophone.
Dick Perry, a long time friend of the band, on baritone and tenor saxes. One of the all time great instrument changes in music. I loved watching him do it in concert.
@@joelavcoco He called some of the opening synth trumpet, too.
This song and Dogs from Animals are my two favorite songs of all time. How it possible to make 15 min songs not long enough? Unbeatable.
There’s parts 6-9 to experience too 🔥 don’t miss out!
Sir, you have now entered into the Pink Floyd zone, there is no returning from it and no match for their musicianship. Just sit back and enjoy the journey that each and every song brings.
their music has changed many lives over the years. earphones, eyes closed, volume up, and chill. welcome to the best after 50 years. Dave south africa.
Another SA guy here; agreeing with you 100%
I'm 59 and they still give me chills. Dave's guitar is like no other man. Love ya.
58 years old here, I feel the same way about Pink Floyd.
Dave has a feel for the guitare very few have. It's hos partner, his lover. And he treats it as such. They dance and swing. They create art together like a painter with a brush. That's a VERY rare thing in music. And almost unheard of now.
Beat you, went 60 today, young lad ;-))!.
@@feedingravens happy birthday!!
Now, continue through this album and notice the perfect, impeccable, flawless transitions and superb, inimitable dramatic pacing. Next, notice the layering and subtle backdrops they lay in. More than most, complete albums are how to experience this band's musical and artistic power.
This is about PF's original singer and founder, Syd Barrett. He developed mental health problems due to heavy use of psychedelic drugs. He left the band in 1968 and died in 2006. They were a very different band with Syd as the creative lead. Check out some of their early stuff sometime
edit: how about parts VI-IX
I'll just add that their close relationship with Syd launched this love song into heartfelt and heartrench. One doesn't *have* to know the backstory to get swept up into their emotional music, but it's a cautionary tale.
Syd had genuine genius. His breakdown was a tragedy. He was also physically very beautiful.!!
@@bobkathman6124 So true. But knowing the story behind the song makes me weep whenever I hear it. The love they poured into this song, it’s like a warm blanket to comfort him in the cold. 🥲😢
This was their tribute to Sid.
I read in the end, he would show up to the recording with no strings on his guitar and attempt to play it. Also one time they were in concert and he ran off stage mid song, the band kept playing not knowing what happened to him. He came back a while later with a grill and steaks and started grilling on stage while the band played on!
You will come to realize, as you get deeper into Pink Floyd, that they don't simply plug into amps - they plug directly into your soul, heart, and mind. There has never been, is not now, nor ever will be a band like these geniuses have created.
You're going to get lots of advice that you should listen to Pink Floyd albums, not individual songs... which is great advice.
But don't feel rushed. There's nothing wrong with introducing yourself to the band by listening to their songs individually.
When the day comes that you do listen to a complete album in one sitting you get to have that moment where you realize that each song you love contributes to the other songs that you also love and adds another level that you didn't even know existed.
That's the moment you become a Pink Floyd fan.
Pink Floyd seriously has maybe 5 of the top ten songs in history. And I'm an AC/DC nut.
Him: Is that a guitar?
Guitar: no, it’s David Gilmour
The attribute that best describes Pink Floyd is - patience. They never rush their music. They introduce one instrument at a time, constantly building the mood they want to emote
Even hearing and listening to Pink Floyd the first time there's a special place in your heart, as if it was empty and only they could fill that space, and you can carry it with you for a lifetime, and beyond I hope, it's quite something.
"Sorrow" live is a masterpiece from their pulse show 1994.
YES!!!!! Most historic guitar sound EVER!!!
🙌🏼🔥👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Honestly probably Gilmores best work after Floyd
Welcome my son. Welcome to the machine 🤘
Fucking love your reactions my friend. You take me back to my childhood and hearing the Floyd for the first time.
I’m 58 and a retired music teacher. Floyd has always been in my life. Even my dog is called Floyd.
You have totally captured what every Floyd fan feels when hearing their music. Thank you for taking me back to my youth. Laying in on my mother’s orchard with my Walkman and some herbs 😉 sunny days & hazy ways.
I humbly request you listen to ALL of Dark Side of the Moon. Enjoy the trip and thank you again.
Peace, love & good happiness stuff to you and the fam ❤
Best trumpet solo ever, made it sound just like a saxophone!
You'll never regret this discovery Welcome aboard
Many of Pink Floyd’s songs have what I call that Sunday afternoon feel. Just chill music.
Believe me, I'm so happy for growing up with this music.
I love watching newbies pop their cherries listening to my favorite band...., its almost like im listening to it again for the first time! Its time for Live Comfortably Numb Pulse reaction!
Pink Floyd are one of the greatest bands ever, and this is one of their finest moments. Not much else to say really.
Something you'll find out about Pink Floyd, The more you listen to them is that they are the kings of knowing the human attention span!! Whenever you listen to a Pink Floyd song you haven't heard you'll get to a point when you'll say to yourself or think to yourself "when are they going to"......... And right when you say that or think that to yourself is when it happens whatever change it is in the song! They just seem to know how long they can go before you decide okay that's enough and right when you start getting that feeling of wanting something different it happens!! Welcome to the Mozart/ Beethoven of the 20th century!!
Also seeing them live is even more spectacular than listening to them with a good set of headphones! I have seen them live 4 different times in three different decades so I do know this for a fact!!
I think we are all enjoying watching another person discover them like we did!!!!! They are different than anyone else nobody sounds like them even to this day! Some people say Tool are like them but I think that Tool are in their own universe as well! Still they are completely unique so please continue to enjoy this bottomless rabbit hole known as Pink Floyd!!!
I think the comparisons to Tool are valid in the sense that both bands are incredibly talented music-wise and both have very deep, meaningful lyrics. They're both "thinkers".
I can still remember, when I was in college, going to the record store at the mall to buy this album. I came home, no one was home, I put it on the turntable and floated away to the special world that was Pink Floyd. I still have that album, and I still listen to this album regularly. Thank you for sharing your experience. Welcome to the club buddy!😎
Pink Floyd is Soul Food , Music Art , a Gate into Yourself ...
The song that follows this one is the one you should check out next. Welcome To The Machine
Dude, I’m 27, and this song has been in my life since I was a child (I first probably heard it around 8-9 years old). It’s no wonder I fell in love with Floyd (and, later, Tool) because of their ability to play around with genre. Along with all of the great suggestions already in the comments (as you really can’t go wrong), I would also suggest Welcome to the Machine. I’m so excited for you to be on this Pink Floyd journey, man. Cherish it and, as much as you can, treat every listen to a song as the first. That’s the great thing about music: you’ve changed, the songs will, too. The same line could be heard by someone at 10, 20, and 50, and it feels three completely different ways.
I made sure it was the first music after he was born. At 5 days old! Hes now 34 and a big fan
Damn, music is so romantic.
My daughter, who is now 6, used to fall asleep to this album from when she was about a year old until around 4. She feels music so deeply now, and I like to think it's because of this album.
The most beautiful thing about this song is its a tribute to Syd Barrett, Pink Floyds original front man and song writer who was unfortunately lost to mental illness.
Pink Floyd. Patience. Excellence. ❤
My absolute favorite music reactions are when people discover Pink Floyd and instantly GET if. Well done, you'll be enjoying them the rest of your life.
i REALLY want you to listen to the studio version of Pink Floyd's "Echoes" from the album Meddle. You think Pink Floyd takes you to a different world, wait until you hear Echoes. Guaranteed to blow you away.
Actually , “ Echoes” from the tremendous video “ Live from Pompeii “filmed in 1971 at the ruins of Pompeii made with only a film crew and their sound folks would be a better choice in my opinion. Not that “ Meddle” isn’t great, but I think this host is ready for the video experience.
That's is music, welcome to the Pink Floyd, zone
Young Padawan.
And us Boomers and Gen X listened to Pink Floyd laying on our bedroom floors with headsets on head and eyes closed taking it all in…. Just like you are doing sitting in your chair!!! ❤ Pink Floyd is in your soul now & forever!
Most Pink Floyd listening was with your friends passing a bong around.
sevsimo PINK FLOYD is the band you never knew you needed in your life. ✌️
Richard Wright lays down the perfect musical canvas with His keyboards for David Gilmour to use as the backdrop of his guitar work; creating a complete masterpiece
R.I.P. Rick ~ it wouldn't have been the same without you! 😢
Sometimes "Ohhhh" and "Ahhhh" are the only reactions possible, when listening to Pink Floyd.
Welcome to the World of Pink Floyd.... Hope you enjoy your ride
High hopes live is a masterpiece from their pulse show
The long drawn out “hum” in the first few minutes was created by playing wine glasses with varying amounts of liquid in them. Supplemented by keyboard, before the guitar comes in
It is, always been and forever will be "magnificent".
Once you experience Floyd... there is no going back, they take over your soul and you never... never weary of listening to them... I have been listening to Floyd since 1979... they never get old... period.
This song was written as a tribute to Syd Barrett - an original member of the band. He was their lead guitarist and wrote a lot of their early music. However in the late 60s he started having mental problems and was addicted to various drugs. Eventually the other members kicked him out because his behavior was destroying the band. However, they all missed him and kept hoping he would recover himself. They all saw him one more time a few years later - he had gained a lot of weight. He came by the recording control room before they headed off on a tour of the U.S.
you will never regret if you discover them in live performance .. Pulse is one of the greatest concerts you'll ever witness , take it track by track and you will thank me later.
Watch the live pulse concert (Sublime)
Masters of the vibe. All of their music has that quality. If you like it, you can't help but trance out to it. They grab you by the soul and take you on a journey.
My absolute Favorite Band of all time still listening to them ❤❤❤❤❤❤
There is no bad choice with Pink Floyd. Run with it and continue the journey.
I own every single Floyd album put out, and I have never gotten tired of listening to them. Gilmore is an absolute sorcerer on the guitars.
Same. Discovered them at 15 years old in the summer of 87. Few months later Momentary was released. First song was Comfortable Numb. Missed the LP era, bought all of them on cassette. Then CDs came and bought all of them. Division Bell and Pulse came. Bought a full discography box set, 2 of every album on CD. Bought The Wall on Gold CD. Found Dark Side on Gold CD. Wanted them all on gold but never found more. First CD player was a 10 disc in the car filled all 10 slots with Floyd along with the $5000 in equipment built to play nothing but Floyd. Everyone in town cruising Main beating their rap crap, I tell them, get in. And I sent them into another dimension with Shine On or Dogs. And finally on this phone I have every album downloaded from Spotify.
Plz understand- this is a tribute to the founder of Pink Flo6d who went sidewys.... A genius who went down his rabbit hole. Sid Barrett r.i.p.
World peace threw pink floyd! Best band that ever llived!!
The whole thing is a masterpiece.

Welcome to Pink Floyd, the music is all you need to take you far away.
The water trickling sound is the band playing wine glasses with various levels of liquid in them.
No trumpets, just Richard Wright and his keyboard magic. The sax is real.
Listened to this song for the first time at the age of 13. After 35 years I still get the get the goosebumps.
Suggestions: 1) "Echoes" Live in Pompeii 1972 2) Please do the album THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON in one or two sittings, it´s a concept, songs merge.
It's really fun seeing you, as an extremely intelligent music appreciation aficionado, experience music that I've enjoyed for decades. You are, in fact, giving me the memories of hearing these songs for the first time back in the 70's. I'm about to turn 65 and I'm loving seeing the reactions of people truly listening and appreciating these great sounds. Progressive Rock is a favorite of mine. I want a hit of that candle and sip of that good coffee! Cheers!
"as an extremely intelligent music appreciation aficionado"
Reminder that this dude called a saxophone a "trumpet"
@@thenightstargaming6792 Yeah, well. With so many sounds and programs coming from keyboards, unless you know.... I'd rather have the enthusiasm of the reaction and enjoyment of the music than dry accuracy of a note on a page. Think of the sounds that Tom Morello gets from his guitar or other effects. I get you on the difference between brass and reed but, everyone steps in it once in a while. lol
Born in 66 this was what I grew up w. Put headphones on kick back and listen and watch to the whole Pink Floyd The Wall movie.
Background. The song was conceived and written as a tribute and remembrance to Pink Floyd founding member Syd Barrett. Barrett was eased out of the band in 1968 because his drug use and deteriorating mental health were affecting his ability to integrate with the other band members and create and perform as a musician.
great tunes defo brings people together and tends to be timeless. their album dark side of the moon turned 50 this year

Pink Floyd takes you on journeys you've never imagined❤
I consider Shine on you Crazy Diamond one of the best things ever recorded. As you say, it's phenomenal and beautiful. David Gilmour's absolutely perfect guitar that hits the soul right on the spot, Rick Wright's famed keyboards, Nick Mason's subtle but beautiful drums, and Roger Waters' haunting lyrics - it's a combination of perfection that always transports me to another world for a few minutes, another galaxy I don't want to come back from.
As you can hear, the song ends with a strange growl and an abrupt ending. That's because it transitions seamlessly into the next track, Welcome to the Machine. Completely different from SOYCD, but another great song. This whole album is one gem after another. Listen to it and you'll give me the truth... And when you listen to the whole thing, I'm almost certain you'll become another one of the many millions of true Pink Floyd fans. This is one of their best work produced. Glad you enjoyed it... but wait, there's more.
"Time" by them next. Studio version. Or just listen to the full album start to finish as has been suggested: "Dark Side of the Moon". It really is better that way. All the songs kind of perfectly flow into each other. Talk about a ride!!
Pink Floyd was my emotional blanket in my teens. I used it often, especially this album, for meditation. When I listen to any of the songs now, I automatically melt into silent meditation mode and feel myself being taken over by the music. Pink Floyd is God.
Im 60.....and when I know pink floyd is about to be played.....i roll a big pure grass (skunk,as im in Europe and Holland is up the road) spliff..... And im 16 again....thank you.
Hell ya dude. This whole album is awesome from start to finish.
Great reaction! Now that you've done 1-5, you really should do 6-9 before moving on to another track. The album opens with 1-5, closes with 6-9, with 3 tracks in between. The album's theme is absence vs presence, and can one be both simultaneously. The album's title is Wish You Were Here. Floyd's album's are intended to be consumed as one piece of music with each track flowing into and playing off each other. Definitely recommend either moving through track by track on this one or doing 6-9 next. Subscribed for more, my friend.
thank you my friend really appreciate the comment and for subscribing to the channel, much more Pink Floyd to come!
