Eddie was pianist first. He taught himself to play guitar be listening to Eric Clapton. He was poor. He cobbled together an electric guitar. Formed a band and the rest is history. I saw them in 1981. Amazing is not a strong enough adjective. Eddie could play. Jamie’s Cryin was my favorite song. The 1984 album came out my senior year of high school. We jammed to that album for the whole year. And after. It shot Van Halen to the super stardom stratosphere. Yes David Lee Roth was a great front man. Neither Eddie nor his brother could sing. Or they did not want to. But David brought his energy and an Amplifier to the table. I’m glad you enjoyed it. ❤️
My favorite song eddies band made is jump.
I saw them in 1979 and 82.
There were a huge band when their first album came out in the 1970s. This album 1984 caused a lot of conflict in the band as they fought over being commercial or doing new stuff.
Michael Anthony's bass and harmonics were also on point. Yes i liked both Van Hagar and original. We just won't speak of More Than Words boy...
@@carl5381 ''More Than Words boy'' ouch..
That little smile that Eddie has on his face all the time was just so endearing. RIP Eddie
I know love it!😊
He loved his job and it showed. GAWD! It's not easy talking about Eddie Van Halen in the past tense!
Yes! Eddie had the most impish grin. You gotta love it...makes me smile too.
Eddie's smile gave him a very warm, friendly appearance.
I think the same thing every time I see his videos.
Eddie could only play like that because no-one told him it was impossible. A one-of-a-kind guitarist. RIP
How many musicians have said that? Neither he, Jimi or The Beatles could read music and look what they did.
Greatness happens from those who break the rules.
The Beatles did the same with songwriting. No one taught them how they were “supposed” to write, so they did what seemed right to them.
David Lee Roth is a hell of a character. He's a life long martial artist so that's how he can move like that.
She completely missed his jump splits? 😨
@@ckobo84 she didn't. She's watching and recording on her phone and she actually moved her phone closer so she could see better right before it
David Lee holds belts in several martial arts that why you see him doing the spinning kicks.
I never knew that!
I lov dav but not now
Help me out, was David Lee also into rock climbing?? ♠W.G.
@@wgdavis5353 I remember him talking about his rock climbing in old interviews. Probably why they did it in one of his videos.
He was a great front man. But I love Sammy's voice too
Thank u for paying respect to the late great Eddie Van Halen...he will surely be missed...so again thank you
I was 17 years old in 1976...and they played at my high school when I was a senior!!! Can you imagine? They are to be appreciated now for sure. Eddie’s genius will live on. Check out the videos of the amazing performances! We won’t see the likes of them again.
Saw them live. Memphis Tn. 1978. Unforgettable memory. Unforgettable concert. Still have ticket stub. 6 dollars and 50 cents. RIP Eddie.....we love ya man. Great reaction
The long-haired singer is the vocalist David Lee Roth, who was also into martial arts. Eddie is the baby-faced gifted guitarist. The drummer was Eddie's brother.
We know ,Michael Anthony on bass
Yes 3 brothers & DLR lead singer
Eddie Van Halen and Micheal Jackson are the reason why I started listening to Rock music. Eddie Van Halen played the guitar solo on Michael Jackson's song Beat It. Eddie Van Halen said... "Working with Michael Jackson was one of the fondest memories of his career. RIP Edward Van Halen... You were one of the illest.
RIP Eddie. Thanks. One of my fav songs. Check out Everybody Wants Some...killer tune
David the singer has a multi black belt martial arts which shows when he does those high kicks!
RIP Eddie great reaction love from England
Eddie was awesome on his guitar.
David was one of the reason's I got my blackbelt. He was very skilled. Great song! Rip to the Legend. Great reaction!
Thank you for doing a tribute to Eddie Van Halen. He is one of the top 5 greatest rock guitarists of all-time. "Jump" is one of their best songs. It went to #1 on the pop charts in 1984.
Now you know why Eddie Van Halen is considered one of the top guitarists EVER. Him and David Lee Roth are so exciting to watch !
The legend Van Halen! R. I. P.! I was 20 years when this song come out! The best album from him! 1984 what a wonderful 80's music trip!
Great reaction thank for showing so much respect For Eddie a legend and such a great musician I love playing this song on keyboard I feel like I'm him when I'm playing!
One of my ol faves! I just love how much fun they are having...did not take themselves too serious intheir music videos. Such a blast in that time of my life
one of the greatest of all time...rest in peace eddie...and rock on
Eddie was the greatest guitarist in the world! 🙌🏻😍thanks for your tribute and reaction! You are awesome❤️😘
I am so grateful that you and many other younger generation pay tribute, it makes me 😃 smile
If not mistaken Diamond Dave was into karate.
He was definitely into himself!
@@stephenurso9267 haha yes he was
i remember him saying on the joe rogan podcast he's into kung fu, karate, and jeet kune do
@@daemonhat thanks. Knew the karate, not the others
@@stephenurso9267 LOL, to perform like that you need to have a huge ego. It's part of the magic.
R.I.P. Eddie a great Dutchman is in heaven greeting from your hometown city Amsterdam
Thank you!! RIP to the Master!! ❤
Check out Runnin With the Devil, And The Cradle Will Rock, Panama, Hot For Teacher or...anything really.
Very classy to do a tribute to VanHalen on the day of Eddie's passing. One of the most endearing things about Eddies playing was the ubiquitous smile he always had. He knew what he could do and he just loved doing it. RIP.
Awesome reaction and very emotional RIP eddy
Rest in Peace Eddie 💔
I was a mere 13yr old sprog, just starting to find my own feet musically. The UK was going through the New Romantic phase & then we got an influx of American rock music, Twisted Sister, ZZ Top, Motley Crue & the ever brilliant Van Halen to name but a few, Everyone of those bands taught my how to head bang & how to air guitar.
R.I.P EVH a true legend
Van Halen’s music was never sad. Sure some of their earlier music was darker, but never sad. Most of their music is pretty upbeat
R.I.P.,Eddie.You were in a great group, and you made them greater.
Best rock song of the ‘80s.
Eddie Van Halen thank you for the music and the memories. 🎸
This song as the same reaction on everybody it just put a smile on your face RIP Eddie.
More than anything else, it’s that infectious smile that will be missed...
I think you were looking somewhere else when it showed David Lee Roth doing his splits in the air. Go back. 😉
Trust me when I edited I noticed and boyyyyyyy I’m jealous
😃
@@THEJAYYSHOW if no one has told you Eddie did the solo on Micheal Jackson's Beat it 💯🔥♥️
@@edwardomunoz9299 Yep, annnnd Eddie DIDN'T charge for that solo.
@@chesteralexander4363 from what I've read he did it in like 3 takes and a six pack 🤘
The best ever.....Thanks for this....We had a great generation....
Eddie, always with that great smile. ❤
Girl you are gonna make me cry again. 😭😭 ❤
Thanks for Honoring Eddie Van Halen, who was a part of my childhood, and who is someone that I still listen to.
In his memory, and for you to hear a great piece of work, check out the instrumental song that he and his brother did for the movie, "Twister" that's called "Respect The Wind". A lot of people don't know about it.
Let's be happy that we have these videos of great artists.
I'm gonna start with a RIP Eddie! Everyone that ever heard one of his pieces is now mourning his departure.
Now, on another subject, you should try and do a reaction of Journey - Mother, Father (1981 tour). You won't regret it. Journey and Van Halen are my go to bands.
MTV days and Club Days dancing yeah, RIP Eddie 🎸🤘😆🤘🎤
Eddie Van Halen is the amazing guitar player who Sadily passed away. David Lee Roth is the lead vocalist . The one you saw doing those great kicks. He is also a martial artist.
It was my dad who got me into Van Halen. I think we need to appreciate how legendary Eddie IS and always will be, not just on guitar but on keyboards. That synth solo was wicked!! We love EVH, condolences to all his family and friends and bandmates. ❤🙏 Eddie, you will live on forever man! 🤘
RIP Eddie, We miss you man!
when this first came out it was a big time song played at basketball games and other sports in stadiums. i used to call this "stadium music" it is very fun
Eddie and Alex were classically trained on piano and self taught drummer and guitarist
I came here hoping that you would be smiling and enjoying it. Bad day. I guess it's tough for all of us, right now. Good job, Jayy!
I am sooooo lucky to have seen Van Halen in 1978 warming up Black Sabbath and they blew Sabbath out of the water! And Eddie is the best! And David is no joke with his jumps and acrobatics on stage! I believe he was a martial artist?!
I like that Eddie was always smilin'...........................
Crank it up! That song takes me back to senior year of high school. The synthesizer riff sets it apart from earlier Van Halen. The tapping section during the guitar solo was Van Halen's signature move on guitar, but he always strove towards getting a great sound from his instrument first and foremost.
Let those feet fly David Lee. And of course the musicianship is great and they are having fun. It’s catchy and I love the opening line
I get up and nothing gets me down. Be positive and don’t let things get you down and keep you there. BE POSITIVE
Most all-time music video lists since the 90s have had Jump in the top 10 and I think it's warranted, tho I also think the Hot For Teacher video was their greatest video. Jump was great because it was cheap production wise and allowed them to show off their natural zaniness and sense of humor, which are two of the main things people loved about them as a band. This song was their only #1 hit in the Dave years. All the 1984 vids, Jump/Panama/Teacher were gems and got a ton of MTV and radio play. The "1984" album itself is one of the Dave era VH's 2 diamond albums (10 plus million sold). Instant classic and largely due to the 3 videos.
David Lee Roth was so pretty...and a bad boy...and I loved every minute of it!😆
Noticed your reactions to the lead singer's kicks and splits in all 3 vids.. David Lee Roth, or Diamond Dave, is an accomplished martial artist who has been trainning since he was 12.. he has studied a few styles. His primary styles are Kinjutsu and Brazilian Jui-jitsu.. explains his flexibility and some of his talent.. he is showing off some of what he can do
You are so genuine Jayy. Love ya!!!
RIP EDDY MISS YOUR MUSIC
Eddie Van Halen also played the Synthesizer(keyboard)on the track aswell.
Everybody Wants Some...great song
Another interesting fact. Eddie didn't start out playing the guitar. It was actually his Brother, Alex, who was played guitar. Eddie later noticed that his Brother, Alex, had become a WAY better drummer than he was. So said... "Keep the drums, I'm gonna take your guitar". And the rest is history.
RIP Eddy van Halen. love your reactions. you should react to Hoe's up, G's down by Shirin David. she's a german rapper. pretty dope tho lol much love frm germany
They were great in concert
That's David Lee Roth jumping and kicking. He's an amazing entertainer but he kicked so hard on a Jimmy Kimmel show he busted his face and almost knocked himself out. Eddie is on guitar and keyboards and Alex van Halen on drums. They were the heart of the operation... Jason
He sliced his nose with sword/baton he was swinging and it's a regular act but got too close and sliced it but kept singing like a pro until ed noticed and played a solo till David got seen to by medics, check it out pal
David Lee Roth, is the blonde one. Eddie Van Haken was in the green zebra striped jacket. He was a great guitarist for sure.
David Lee Roth. Is SUPER TRAINED Master of some type of marshal arts and SWORD Arts...
Van Halen good band as well the music today is just not the same but got to here sum good music thanks for playing that
Great song. Van Halen’s most successful single from the album 1984
David Lee Roth, had to be trained in Karate? Eddie Van Halen was the Mozart of our time. I'm glad I was on the planet the same time as E.L.V. He was the greatest imo. RIP Eddie, we love you, gone to soon 💔 😢 🙏 Thank you THE JAYY SHOW for playing Van Halen, brings me back to my carefree teen years. I ❤️ your expression 😘
Theres this 15 year old young lady that shreds Eddie on UA-cam. Her name is Tina. Check her out. Eddie Van Halen was in shock when he saw it. Tina: eruption.
EVH was to metal in the 1980s arguably what Chuck Berry was to the RnB boom of the 1960s: the model. And, indeed, behind Van Halen came the swarm of good time 'hair metal' bands that had all the flamboyance and, more often than not, half or less of the talent. Okay, they didn't have the best singer to start with, but can you jump like that?
Van Halen was the soundtrack to my adolescence
My favorite VH song.
I miss him so much
LEGEND... R.I.P. / EVH
The singer , David Lee Roth , has had martial arts training , which he used in these shows .
So many rock stars and rock bands take themselves so seriously, especially at the time Van Halen came out. They brought fun back to rock. Rock n roll was so serious with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath and punk rock which was all about telling people to F off, and Elvis Presley dying, if you weren’t into disco rock n roll was depressing. Then these guys came along dressed in bright clothes, smiling and laughing, with a guitar virtuoso from another galaxy who didn’t take his guitar so seriously yet it was like another arm on his body...... that’s why these guys were so huge in the 80s. They made rock n roll fun again! You had a Chevy Camaro with t-tops and some friends and put their cassette in and blasted it doing 100 miles an hour all night!! That was Van Halen!
EDDIE also played the SOLO in BEAT IT 💪
Don't cry... Just be glad that Eddy was here and you Respected him..... You gave him a chance to touch your heart as a black woman!
David Lee Roth wrote the words while watching a news story of a guy trying to commit suicide by jumping off a highrise. LOL
They had fun!💖💔
2nd video i've watched , loved your reaction :)
David Lee Roth's theme song.
David Lee Roth is heavy into martial arts so David does a lot of splits, jump splits, spinning kicks on stage, plus bo staffs & wushu swords.
Thats awesome J
Edward Van halen - The King of Ten Fingers and Six Strings
🐐
I was in the eighth grade when this song came out
Honey, you missed David Lee's best move.....go back to 4 minutes in, right when Eddie's guitar solo was almost over......you will be impressed !!.......David Lee Roth was my fav front man back then and Eddie has always been and will always be my fav guitarist...... RIP sweet Eddie... :'(
David Lee Roth is a 3rd degree black belt. Thats where the kicks come in.
The kung fu singer David Lee Roth and RIP Eddie Van Halen The best guitarrist ever!
I heard David Roth practiced karate so he was able and in shape enough to perform those kicks.
Feel good music 😀 Dreams next please
🌾🍁🐾🍂🌾🦉✨🚀✨🍁✨🚀✨🚀✨🚀✨🌜Yeah...gute Reaktion!
David Lee Roth is an experienced martial artist! Check out Van Halen; Living on a prayer.
Can you check out a song called how many say I. It's the only song where Eddie Van Halen sang lead vocal. It's a ballad it's not a beat like jump but I think you'll still like it.
A much better representation of Van Halen is to watch "Unchained" Live in Oakland 1981.
That's Van Halen at its best.
David Lee Roth was fine back then. Eddie Van Halen was a talented man RIP.
Little Guitars - best van halen song IMO
