Riders On The Storm was the last song Jim Morrison recorded, he died shortly after its release, which makes it even more eerie than it already is by itself, specially with the way the keyboard fades away at the very end. A true masterpiece, there's not much else to say.

    • @theincorruptedeye8226

You're born into a family and thrown into the world, but, when you fake your death, your born with no family and lots of experience. Jim equated himself to a storm upon which we were the riders, so, with that in mind, what are the first two words on the album and the last two. When listening to the piano at the end of the song consider the words "Like the gentle rain that falls". Each song on the album connects to tell one tale.

Perhaps the last thing that Jim wrote was recorded on An American Prayer, things written after faking his death directed at true followers to let them know what he did which have not yet been deciphered, after all apparently no one has done so on this song or the album LA Woman which tells the tale of him eluding the law, faking death and leaving Pam behind, she was not a lucky little lady.

  • @anthonyorr8868

I always interpreted the "gotta love your man" verse as being about how woman carry the burden of childbirth to keep the human species going ("the world on you depends, our life will never end"), but we, as a society, take that burden and change woman's role into a sexy thing, when really its about something much deeper and intrinsic to our survival. The whole song plays with themes of life and death so it makes sense to me that that verse is about life and death as well.

    • @Sidneyyoungblood75

You're looking far to deep into it just because it's Morrison.
It was a simple plea to Pamela as she had already left for Paris and he was very very tired of his life in LA

    • @Sidneyyoungblood75

@@anthonyorr8868 Agree with you Anthony, a lot of people don't understand the artistic process. A simple life situation is the seed, from that seed springs metaphors and symbols in the artists mind which blooms into the flower of the poem or painting.

JM already complained in 1970 that The Doors were old hat, nostalgia.
So he knew that they were finished in the sense of being at the forefront; of being new.
They may possibly have continued as 'elder statesman' of rock but the likelihood they would have drifted into film and any new media.
As Ray did do, producing new acts etc. was one direction for the rest of the doors. JM would have just been reborn as something totally at odds with his previous carnation.
      Similar to Jerry Rubin

Morrison often "played" with a song, stretching, improvising, putting out several versions. I have heard versions of "Riders on the Storm" as clipped as 55 seconds, out to about 7 minutes, at least three different arrangements, and almost always with a hushed monologue interlude. Morrison loved making his songs into verbal theatrics.

Studio versions of "Roadhouse Blues", "Moonlight Drive", "The Crystal Ship" each bring different aspects of their creativity and the mood of the late 60's - work your way up with some of those, and then listen to "The End" - it's their "Bohemian Rhapsody" equivalent.

The movie has its highlights but like most movies directed by oliver stone there far fetch and take alot of liberties with the truth.

I'm pretty sure the surviving Doors hated the movie and thought it insanely inaccurate and made Jim look like a dick

    • @bscott5965
      @bscott5965 3 роки тому +2

@@AbeBSea I've seen a documentary on the making of the movie with interviews with the remaining members. They were on set during filming and gave insight and thumbs up to production. When Val did a concert scene it blew them away. Said it was like Jim was back again

    Hi Jayy! Happy Monday!
Nicely constructed song, I agree, soothing vocals and a mood capturer, if that makes sense.

Robby Krieger was so cool. He took Flamenco guitar and dipped it in blues and jazz. He is a great guitar player.

My older brother had 45 of this song. The flip side was "People Are Strange". We played it over and over on my mom's console stereo (most of you are too young to know what this is).

Great reaction! Lot of deep lyrics with Morrison. A deep dive is the title track off the album The Soft Parade, excellent piece with with some interesting transitions and a kickin groove. One of my favs from them.

Riders on the Storm, Roadhouse Blues ,Soul Kitchen, Love Me Two Times, Break On Through, Twentieth Century Fox, Light My Fire are my favourite Doors. The End is also good, but a little dark for my taste.

Interesting fact is that label didn't wanted all bandmembers, and they wanted only Jim Morrison. But Jim declined if they didn't joined him in the contract.

There were So many iconic Artists from this generation. Jim Morrison was a genius, a wordsmith, literature, mythological scholar and definitely a rebel.
His addictions killed him. His crassness, alcoholism covered up his intellectual and very sensitive self.
In my opinion he died because he was disillusioned and heart broken.
Like Vincent Van Gogh, his world broke him in two.
He was arrested multiple times while performing because of marijuana, indecency and language.
He was loved all over the world.
