It's wonderful of you to do a tribute to Eddie Van Halen. Eddie is a legendary rock guitarist and Van Halen is one of the greatest rock bands of all time. "Panama" is a great song. It came from their 5-star classic album "1984", which also had "Jump" that you already did a reaction to.
The concerts were so much fun. Just like that. Splits. Swords. Running around the stage. Dave was the Ultimate frontman. Not the beat singer, but knew how to get the crowd going. Eddie was doing his guitar god stuff while hia brother Alwx was banging those drums then Michels base and harmonys. Pure magic!. That 84 concert was the BEST! RIP EDDIE
Thank you so much Jayy. I'm back in High School. Very respectful and classy move to tribute Eddie Van Halen. He was a guitar god. If you want to feature Eddie watch "Van Halen's Eruption Solo." 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍👍✌❤. Thanks again. If you ever have an extra 13 minutes, watch Eddie Van Halen's solo from the U.S. Festival 1983!!!
True but they weren't really regular people. They each had something special that's undefinable and they came together at that time and place. It's magic.
Devastated of his passing...he's the reason I picked up the guitar after seeing Van Halen live in 1981...saw them 7 times over the years...he was an innovator and musical genius. Haven't had the heart to even look at my guitar😭 Check out EVH jamming at Les Pauls celebration, it's unbelievable!! Thanks for acknowledging Eddie on that awful day!!
Van Halen were massive back in the early 80s. Bigger than anything that's in music today, by far, tho the 80s had a number of those megafamous acts that had penetrated into popular culture from music. That audience shot at the beginning of this vid was a nightly affair. VH was the first music act to get 1 mill base salary for a gig in 83 (adjusted dollars in 2021 is who knows). All of them were excellent musicians, but Eddie really helped them run from late 70s to early 90s as a quote "rock" band that could get a #1 song or album or hit diamond status on more than one album. VH's appeal was because they were everyone's rock band, essentially. The heavy rock bands and the glam bands love them equally. Pantera had VH as their idols probably every bit as much as Poison did. They're one of those accessible rock acts like GNR that even non-rock fans can enjoy.
RIP Eddie. ❤ Grew up along side VH. Saw them live with Diamond Dave and Sammy Hagar, so I'm very grateful and blessed. Just some good ole toe tapping RNR!! 1👍
I was there when they filmed some live footage in Philadelphia 1984...when we walked in, they were still filming Michael Anthony flying across the stage.
Back n these days. You had 2 kinds of bands really. Those who took this whole thing to seriously and those who had fun. Van Halen was all about the fun. Which translated into some amazingly good music.
I love that you get the humor of these videos (I saw you react to "Hot For Teacher" also). Van Halen was a serious band indeed, but there was always those overtones of humor in what they did, especially their videos. For a kid like me, growing up in the musically barren '80's, this stuff was the thin thread that kept the flame of real rock and roll alive. I read a book called "Van Halen Rising" a few years ago, and I was very surprised to learn in that book that most people thought David Lee Roth was a horrible vocalist. Ted Templeman even wanted replace him with Sammy Hagar at one point before their first album even came out. No offense to Sammy, but I'm very glad that didn't happen. VH would NOT have been the same without DLR!! First off, he busted his butt getting their name around town, putting up flyers, etc., and when the band's spirits got low after repeated disappointments, he was always the one trying to get everyone happy and optimistic again. And - like him or hate him - you cannot deny that he was at the very least a good singer. But I think he was better than that. And he was funny and charismatic; everything a lead singer should be! Between the good-time party vibe that all the members of Van Halen exuded back then, and the genius of Pete Angelus directing their videos, they made for heck of a great experience back in the day.
Jimi Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen set the goalposts that have pretty much defined the sound of electric rock guitar. Hard to think of anyone whose come after that hasn't been influenced in one way or another.
Jump, Hot For Teacher, and Panama had totally rad music videos as well. That's all Dave's doing. He designed them. Hot For Teacher is probably a top 5 all-time great music vid. Most lists that ranked vids since the 90s have had Jump in the top 10 in its place, and tho Jump is great in its cheap aesthetics, HFT was their crowning achievement. A mini-movie. It was actually played in full in a Congressional committee that sought to put warning labels on albums for explicit content. Imagine all those old codgers watching HFT, haha. They showed a clip of one of their reactions in a CNN 80s documentary a couple yrs ago and the old Southern bastard called it despicable filth (because it displayed boys fantasizing about hot women, as if they don't do that). Today this video wouldn't have been made and they also would've cut the clip of Eddie blowing smoke rings because cigarettes. VH was actually the first act to have MTV ban one of their videos (the video to Pretty Woman from 82). It's obvious why if you watch it now, they'll say it's degrading to trans-people and shows a "woman" being fondled on a pole by two little people.
Jayyyyy !!!!! Love you girl ! But I have some videos for you to check out Cosmic Slop by Parliament-Funkadelic plus the Bootsy Collins version and last but not least Wild Thing Jimi Hendrix at Monteray Pop
Ahh the days of normalcy. Where everyone was themselves. Especially where men could be men and the SJW ideology was non existent. Glad you enjoyed it. I loved the reaction when David Lee Roth did the splits.
RIP Eddie. That is all that needs to be said. One of the truly great guitarists.
100 % soo true

Fun video, MTV days and Club Days dancing yeah, RIP Eddie 🎸🤘😆🤘
"Hot For Teacher" by Van Halen is a must react next to.
Sit down, Waldo!
Yessss! Amazing guitar solo
One of my favorite Van Halen tunes, all thru the party years of the 1980s.
Well bless you for honoring Eddie!!!
the list of great guitarist keeps dwindling. RIP EDDIE.
RIP Ed.. one of the greats for sure!!!
The 80s in four minutes....fun and rock and roll.
Drugs. Lots of drugs.
I didn't need drugs. The 80's was about partying good and getting good love. Van Halen was anyway. Not drugs or demonic.
@@pfrancis7483 alcohol is a drug....
Alcohol is a drug, usually just as insidious to become addicted, long and deceiving. You snort some crank, I don't give a Fuck.

They had a really good rythem section but eddie's guitar work overshadowed all of them!
Thank you so much Jayy. I'm back in High School. Very respectful and classy move to tribute Eddie Van Halen. He was a guitar god. Just a bunch of regular dudes who had the best job in the world and loved every second of it.
Nice 🤘
True but they weren't really regular people. They each had something special that's undefinable and they came together at that time and place. It's magic.
The era of 'Excess All Areas' - with a hyper-active frontman who was also depressingly smart. I hope someone is getting you to watch 'Eruption'.
Def the best Spring Break song EVER!!!😎
Devastated of his passing...he's the reason I picked up the guitar after seeing Van Halen live in 1981...saw them 7 times over the years...he was an innovator and musical genius. Haven't had the heart to even look at my guitar😭

Thanks for acknowledging Eddie on that awful day!!
Feel ya bro. 😪
One of my favorite driving songs!

I know I'm late to the game, Girl, but I'm loving these Van Halen reactions! Making my day. 💜💜💜
Great song. Memories of 1984
Van Halen were quite the showmen. They totally entertained.
It's cool that you did a tribute to Edward -- he was a super badass

Feels like I lost a family member

From Russia with love
Oh the 80’s. Miss that time. Great teenage years. Anything goes back then.
I was there when they filmed some live footage in Philadelphia 1984...when we walked in, they were still filming Michael Anthony flying across the stage.
I was lucky to go to 2 of their concerts back in the day...but your facial expressions were priceless totally loved your reaction 🤟❣️
That car revving in the background of trippy dream section near the end is actually Eddie Van Halen's Lamborghini 12 cylinder
It's so cool to see younger people learning about the music like Van Halen and Fleetwood Mac that I grew up with. Bring it back that's cool. RIP EVH.
Never gets old. RIP Eddie 💗
Watch Jump and Right Now is great! Eddie was a guitar God!!!!!!!!
Rest in peace Eddie Van Halen my all time favorite guitarist
Evil Ways live at Woodstock, funky vibes. Pianist was also the founder of Journey
And that' s how you did it in the *80's , the best, most fun music in the world. You just feel high from the excitement !
RIP eddy a true genius
I bought a Jackson guitar just like Eddie is playing in 1988. A great guitar.I still play it.
We had a blast. 💖
Back n these days. You had 2 kinds of bands really. Those who took this whole thing to seriously and those who had fun. Van Halen was all about the fun. Which translated into some amazingly good music.
Much respect to you for NOT pausing the video every 5 seconds! RIP to the greatest guitarist EVER!!
Eddie van Halen was the generous of the guitar and would you believe that wasn't his first instrument
Rip Eddie 🙏 Van Halen fan for life. 🙌
I'm binging your reacts like the greatest thing to hit Netflix, lol.
Concerts back then " consumed you"... caught you up in the enthusiasm!
They were entertainers...not just musicians...
Diamond Dave needs to come out of his shell. Too shy.
I know right....
Hush hush, eye to eye
LOL!
This video was uploaded the day before Dave's birthday...
That's Valerie Bertinelli sitting on the couch behind Eddie when he was sitting at the piano in his white tux blowing smoke rigs.....
Yo, I never caught that!
The light hearted blowing smoke suddenly seems much darker knowing that was basically the cause of his death.
@@ckobo84 You never saw Ed without a cigarette...
Thanks for the Halloween background. Going through another Hurricane, ready for a change of season. R.I.P. Eddie grew up with that guy. @THE JAYY SHOW
David Lee Roth was really into karate and was very flexible.
I always loved the shot of David Lee Roth riding his bike down Sunset in the overcast SoCal sky. RIP EVH RIP LosAngeles
Good stuff here The Jayy Show. Thanks!!
Michael Jackson "beat it" arguably Eddie Van Halens most iconic moment
Mainstream yes but Eruption is his shining moment
That was Eddie's own car in the brief sample.
nope.. it was daves
The lead singer, David Lee Roth, went solo and did some other fun songs. Check out "Just a Gigolo" and his remake of "California Girls"
The best guitarist ever there is no ONE OF THE BEST

Miss Jayy. VH in the 1980s were the band. Great videos, but of course the music. Eddie a sort modern Mozert and David a great front man.
Fun 👍👍
David Lee Roth INCREDIBLE MARTIAL ARTIST...LOVE WHEN HE THREW some kicks or techniques into the music vids!!
Eddie... guitar player extrordinaire!
good memories for my years growing up in the 80's
We miss you eddy

@THE JAYY SHOW Did you know Eddie did the guitar riff for Michael Jacksons Beat It..for free!!! Eddie was the greatest
Miss you on the channel 🎤🎧
There will never be another.....
i saw van halen on MTV in 1984. thats my story.
Just wait till you finally react to Solo Eruption. Eddie will blow your mind.
Note, Jayy, your first reactions towards David Lee Roth were the same as everyone else's. Haha. He's a character to put it mildly.

I ❤️ your hat and your background! 🎃
Check out “I’m the One” from their first album.
Diamond Dave was a cheer leader!
David Lee Roth was a hell of a front man in his prime. Eddie Van Halen what can you say he was one of the best
Lol David Lee roth left it all out on stage AS THE FRONT MAN for years..Eddie tho...a guitar god and humble man Godspeed Eddie 💔💔
David Lee Roth was into martial arts. That's why you see his sword work and splits and high kicks in the videos
you are class woman
" He has so much energy", yes baby! That is what my grandfather told me: " With a good diet and some cocaine, you can achieve miracles!"
Ahh the days of normalcy. Where everyone was themselves. Especially where men could be men and the SJW ideology was non existent.
Glad you enjoyed it. I loved the reaction when David Lee Roth did the splits.
Eddie Van Halen and Randy Rhodes was the best guitarist ever
David Lee Roth (singer) is a lifelong martial artist which is why he had so much flexibility.
Peak Diamond Dave
could you do a reaction to van halen eruption that would show you what Eddie could really do with a guitar.
R.I.P Eddie Van Halen🦇🕷⚰️🎼🎸😔🖤☠️🕸🎧💀😎🤘😢
If you think you’ve never heard Eddie before you’re probably wrong. He plays on one of the most famous songs ever. Beat It by Micheal Jackson
You must listen to VH's Fair Warning album! IT. IS. SICK.
where were you in '84?
Love the expressions!
