I love that he still plays "Cross" as his first song! It's about the harrowing, spiritual journey he went on after his first wife died suddenly in a car accident at only 27. He literally also journeyed to Egypt, which he always felt a spiritual connection to, and it helped him reconnect to his Christian faith, not that this was an easy task by any means. Love you, Kip--you're so humble, spiritual, and funny, in spite of boatloads of talent and good looks that would turn anyone else's head!
Glad to read your comment. I shared the Gospel with Kip in the early millennium before 9-11 but he wasn’t open to it then. Very happy he is now. Love the guy, great musician, singer, and artist. He’s been “robbed” of the acclaim he deserved by people jealous of him and because he wouldn’t sell out to them. Thanks for your comment.
Hi from Birmingham, England. My old band Frantic supported Kip in our hometown in 1998 when he did one of these solo acoustic gigs. We played our electric Rock set to a great home crowd. a lot of our friends, but people had mostly come to see Kip. We had a great reception. But when Kip came on the first thing he said was, "How do I follow that? Where's that singer, Lets here it for Frantic, Etc! My appreciation of Kip went up 1000% after that. He was so down to earth. And a true star. not to mention an awesome musician. Thanks Kip. I hope to remind him of that show one day. Kip rules!! x
I was there, Rock Cafe, Brum! I also saw Kip do his solo acoustic set at the Rock Cafe, Brierley Hill, and had the opportunity to chat with him afterward. Very cool guy and a very inspiring gig - what a player and a phenomenal voice!
Kip Winger a human with great personality great skills on guitar , bass and keyboards. Did i forgot to mention his great voice.. respect from Holland Kip👌
I saw Winger back in the late '80s at least four times and they were top notch. What makes Kip (and the band) is they never stopped learning, creating and progressing. They also teach at the university level....not to mention Kip is an excellent composer.
His 12 string sound is amazing. I wonder what tuning he is using, and what fx processing it’s going through. Kip Winger is a one of a kind treasure. What a voice!
I had no idea he did traveling unplugged shows. Guess i'll have to keep a look out for when he comes back to Ohio. Great sense of humor and an awesome musician.
Kip is bad ass. I was waiting for the band in so many moments of the songs. It is clear though that the genius in the music is Kip. The band is phenomenal too.
Kip is entertainment personified !Great with the fans, great with the band and funny as heck !Great music always keeps me coming back . Thanks for sharing Dante :)
I was lucky enough to see him in Manchester nh, pretty much the same show but the crowd there was a little bigger and way more interactive. kip was hilarious!
This guy is freakishly talented; to keep a voice like that after 30 years would be almost unbelievable if you didn’t hear it. Headed for a heartbreak at 22:01 sounds every bit as good as it did 30 years ago.
Not enough credit to Kip by the industry at all. His talent is quite extensive, not only the voice and playing, but his WRITING is amazing. A THINKING man's rocker, this guy is quite prolific. When everyone thought it was cool to follow just ACDC etc, I was totally into Winger's album's deep cuts. A shame that 17 was one of the big hits. The rest of that album is better than that one song, and so on. Finally had the pleasure to see him with Reb, Rod, and Jon in Boston a few years ago, and I was right in front of Kip with my wife. Was great to finally meet the guys. Reb and Rod hung out in the cold afterwards too, while poor Kip had to run to the bus to save his vox, and it was understood. Always a fan of Winger, the artist, the writer, and funny musician! Alan Parsons is the mix master of all time, and we love his musical work too. BTW this is Robin and Lori, from the HeartFire band in Northern New England. All the best~
Protect this man at all costs. I'd LOVE to see Winger get the opportunity they deserve and go on a big tour opening for someone like Def Leppard, Guns N Roses, or similar
Kip we just need more of you singing.............the hell with trying to get the crowd to participate. we are there to hear your killer voice............not a bunch of drunk 40 year olds.................thanks..................hoping to see you in Denver 5 Oct 2019
I was an alt rock kid so I really wanted to hate him but watching all these interviews and live performances he seems like such a cool guy. And actually listening to his music he was one of the better hair metal guys. He had prog rock roots and really gave him an edge on the more sleazy Motley Crues and GnRs.
hours of rehearsing and sweat, tears , some blood maybe ....to get this succinct in performing w/just a guitar ..... ART is the act of appearing easy, when it's hard as fucking hell

Man what kind of tuning is that it sounds different than just a regular 12 string... any idea? Sounds great

Awesome musician, singer, and songwriter. His solo material is some of my favorite. I'm hoping he comes through S.C. or G.A. soon...
he plays at Eddies Attic in Atlanta a couple times every year. Hopefully he will be back soon!
True hearts can’t hide 💕
He is the best vocalist/guitarist in Rock and Roll combination ever. Eddie guitar #1 Magical Powerful YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kip winger is amazing
Holy hell how has there not ever been Winger MTV Unplugged
Because both MTV Unplugged and grunge hit at the same time.
Grunge killed Winger.
Mike Judge didn’t help, but it was grunge.
@@benjaminperez7328 Great insight amigo, thanks 👊
He still has a great voice!
A set [song] list in the description box would’ve been a lot cooler if it was added to this video. At the 37:25 minute mark, is the ‘Miles Away’ song.
Hahaha...17:10... "Aw f*** I broke a string!" Lmao 🤣😂
