Cold starts ? Engine warming up after start i.e. idling but hesitate to provide pick up for some time. Drop in acceleration , mileage etc. Kinematic viscosity of Power1 10w30 - 73.7 mm2/s @ 40℃ 11.36 mm2/s @100℃ While for power 1 20w50 156.3 mm2/s @ 40℃ 17 to 19 mm2/s @100 ℃. Hi Anantha,

If you are running the 110-125cc scooters alot in heavy traffic and high speed on highway the 10w40 makes sense, otherwise for normal city usage you are correct, not needed.

But the latest paid service from a reliable local mechanic of mine went for the Castrol 20W50 semi synthetic engine oil.
Now please suggest me "Should I run my bike or drain the oil and fill it with the recommended grade"
Which grade would be best 10W30 ,10W40 or 10W50 full synthetic....

Cold starts ?
Engine warming up after start i.e. idling but hesitate to provide pick up for some time.
Drop in acceleration , mileage etc.
Kinematic viscosity of Power1 10w30 -
73.7 mm2/s @ 40℃
11.36 mm2/s @100℃
While for power 1 20w50
156.3 mm2/s @ 40℃
17 to 19 mm2/s @100 ℃.
At cold engine condition oil viscosity is more than double of its 10w30 counterparts, so oil take more time to pump & flow , increased wear & tear of engine parts @ startup.
Better drain oil, filter nd use it to bike with 20w50 grade like pulsar etc or Enfields.
Else ~₹360 - 370 are not much for a new engine's safety.
