Thanks for watching! - Спорт
I tried this out on the range today, that handle tilt and weight transfer at the beginning actually works. I'm normally about a 225-250 carry on really good strikes. I did this and I hit almost a dozen at least 290 carry. I pulled a couple left, but at least 10, right up the pipe, super high trajectory and carried a couple over 300 yards, which is HUGE for me. If you can learn that move, it will definitely get the ball out there further. Great video, can't wait to see more of this series!
I feel energized after watching your videos
I don't think I've ever seen anyone with a 'playable' swing like this, generate so much power.
I actually laughed out loud on the medicine ball part!!!🤣
I knew it was looking goofy!
You and me both lol
He looked like one of the zombies in MJ thriller video
I was genuinely scared for the trackman
You've had some great videos over the last few weeks on some really interesting topics. Looking forward to the next in this series.
Loving this series man! Drew's free swing thoughts are so good!
Brendon and Drew,
This is may be the most fascinating video I have yet seen on power in the golf swing.
Thanks to you both.
This has got to be the best video on motion and weight shift in the golf swing I have seen to date. Just awesome!
This series of videos are excellent. I've scrapped all thoughts about club positions in the swing, using the ground properly takes care of it for you, much simpler way to play golf, once you get the sequence right.
Super cool approach to realizing the importance of motion an ground force!
It is so important to show your struggle (even though a Great Player)...and then your realization of the proper offsetting motion.
I'm really liking this concept with the medicine ball and sequentially pushing the back foot to dynamically move the hips then the arms. I was getting great results hitting a few golf balls this evening. Looking forward to exploring this further.
There is a great drill for this VERY important movement in "opposition"! This is a critical movement pattern TO REALLY OWN!
The name of the drill is called ---"the elephant walk" it is the SAME as using the medicine ball, but it WILL teach you to MINIMIZE your head movement so far left and right that you were doing!
KEEP using the medicine ball and KEEP refining this pattern!
Force before motion... Great one!
Yes! Thank you!
To me this says everything about why golf is so easy for some people (who are very athletic) and exceedingly difficult for most (who are not). The ball part where you try to move the ball and body in opposition almost short-circuited my brain when trying to do it lol.
Yes it helps to not think of the swing in 2 parts. Back swing and downswing. Do step drill to help you feel this recentering motion.
Really enjoying the content... have found a quick pressure shift forward to start the swing creates a faster backswing and subsequent speed and consistency gains
It actually looked like u never quite got that opposing movement down - but something to work on. An easy way to do it is: Step with left foot and pick up the rt foot -- move arms back in a backswing stretch
Step with the right foot and pick up the left foot -- move arms forward in a forward swing stretch
DO THIS FLUIDLY IN A ROCKING MOTION
Great , this is a timely and far better explanation than my last attempt . A different tempo from the start building momentum to spiral to the top, the most difficult for me is keeping the turn going to the top because Drew called it a floating sensation as the body catches up so big coil is already releasing the throwing action. If you can keep turning then that's the switch plane you trace for tracking back . Lol. Cheers
The forward movement that triggers the backswing can be nicely described as a dynamic forward press. Many tour players use that as a "swing trigger."
I commented previously, but I have watched this video repeatedly to obsorb the concept. I note that S and T promotes centeredness, but does not teach you how. Marcus Bell, who is a genius about motion in the swing, does not articulate this force pressure and how to as simply as Drew does here.
I am in cold and snowy New England, but I can work on this in my bedroom without a club and can feel the opposition. Drew is telling us how, via Brendon's intereaction and trial and error. Thanks again to both of you, absolute genius.
very good instruction, this guy is awesome !
Great series BTW, congrats!!!
Glad you enjoy it!
great video!!
Brandon, your butt counterbalances your arms. They go in opposite directions. Put your feet together and swing the club to feel this. If they go in same direction you will lose your balance. Once you get the feel, slightly separate your legs and swing the club doing same thing. It puts you in that position Drew was talking about on backswing with right leg straight and deep.
people also have to realize this guy is probably 6'4 and obviously in really good shape, but the mechanics are incredible
True true and true
It looks really nice and athletic.
It make sense to me now why Bobby jones said the swing always starts with the right leg going forward, also Mike Austin talked about it when he said the swing is like walking, and start the swing with right knee cap moving towards the objective. Also Byron Nelson started with his right leg going forward.
The forward press and right leg or knee going forward, has the same effect of holding the med ball towards the target 🎯 at the beginning of the swing. Then you could throw the club or med ball into the backswing with rythm and speed, achieving a greater backswing and the force in the grip at he top of the backswing Sasho Mackenzie talks about.
(Med ball drill with knee flexing, will result in Elvis Presley kind of moves.)
One difference from Drew with the old guys is that Drew takes a wider stance than Bobby Jones and Mike Austin; “a shortstop stance” which looks more athletic and makes better sense to me being a baseball player.
A key part of this swing is the “Re-Centering” occurring after arms parallel in the backswing to prevent early extension. Athletic Motion Golf guys always talk about it as well as Mike Austin did.
Sorry for the long post, I’m just excited that all the pieces are coming together (but my scores hahaha).
I’m glad it’s starting to come together for you. I’m still confused. I think I have to watch the video again. I don’t get the motion they are talking about.
@@RiseUp1000 thanks man!!
I wish I could explain it here.
I’ll try.
Making a longer swing gives grater speed.
Instead of just picking the club up and putting it on top of the backswing, which may result in a short backswing; we need to give the club and impulse into the backswing, as if you were to throw the med ball opposite to the target.
To achieve sync, rhythm and a grater impulse, the best way to start this throwing movement is
1.- with a trail knee flex towards the ball or target,
1.1.- forward press with hands and arms (as if you are holding the med ball towards the target preparing to throw it opposite to the target)
2.- trail knee extension, lead knee flex towards ball or opposite of the target. This movement will naturally impulse the club to the backswing
2.1.- throwing the club to the top of the backswing with wide arce and light hands feeling the weight of the club head.
3.- after extending the right leg, and before or at arms parallel in the backswing, (your back should be pointing at the target at this point), start to feel that your back moves towards the target, this is the recentering move
4.- patience, so all forces find equilibrium
5.- the recentering falls into a lead knee squat with left knee cap pointing towards the target (“the Sam Snead squat”), at this point most of the weight is at the lead side.
6.- lead knee extension, this knee extension should give hands and arms a free ride
7.- During the downswing, at arms parallel, under the shoulder throwing motion with trail arm. Like skipping a rock on the water towards the target. I feel like as a third baseman assisted for a bunt, picked the ball bare handed and throwing under the shoulder to first base. This helps swinging through the ball and not at the ball.
Giving this impulse or grater speed to the backswing, brings the extra benefit of applying extra force to the grip, since the club head is traveling at grater speed towards the target at the top of the backswing, it requires more force on the grip to prevent it from traveling in that direction and start the downswing.
So we end up with longer backswing, and grater average force applied to the grip in the downswing.
I can hear that smash of his, and I’m in London UK.
While you were trying to throw the medicine ball, I kept thinking of Malaska talking about offsetting forces.
Yea that happens so naturally for Drew Cooper
That still image of Bubba at the end of the video really threw me for a loop for a second. I was like "why are his playing partners standing behind him... wait, why is Bubba swinging right handed... wait, what the heck is going on here in this upside down world?!?! Ohhhhhhh. Nevermind."
Brandon, you are providing such a wonderful service with your channel, thank you. I have a question: is the momentum you are creating with the medicine ball similar to what Dan Martin teaches with the orange pylon cone?
Yes. I hadn’t thought of it
So, does Drew use this same force application with all clubs? I have not yet tried this with anything but the driver. Still some fine tuning to be done there to make sure I don't send it into the next tee box on a miss-hit. But now starting to question if I should be doing this with every club in the bag. At the same time im a little scared because I'm already a 200 yd 7 iron player... would love some feedback on this
This has Mike Austins technique all over it. Weight transfer is crucial to big high drives.
Awesome series of videos. I can remember many years ago swinging with abandon and getting the pressure to go back towards the target before I finished my backswing. I hit a lot of long straight balls back when 270 yards was long even by tour numbers. It almost felt like the swing took a long time and the ball stayed on the club face forever. Looking forward to your next video. Thank you.
What does Drew do for work? I might have missed it but why isn’t he a swing coach? His information is gold! 😎
This should be awful but somehow I genuinely find it fascinating 😂 it actually makes total sense. Great vid 👌🏻
I could tell when Drew picked up the ball he was going to destroy you, love his thoughts on the swing going to implement a lot of it.
Brandon I’ve been watching your videos for sometime now specially these with the Drew. Watch some videos from David Lee and his son Danny Lee on gravity golf it would be exactly what Drew was trying to tell you and falling in the other way to get your body mass through the shot instead of you trying to swing with your arms. John
Thanks John. I like what Gravity Golf says about the HEAVE. I think a great way to start of this kind of sequence DC is talking about.
Do these pressure changes also used for iron play?
I feel like Drew is a good example of someone who uses a compound pivot that was advocated by Mike Austin. You can not have a restricted hip and do this from what I have experienced. Cant wait to try the medicine ball drill. I have been able to hit it further with a compound pivot I just have a huge loss of accuracy personally. Just need to practice and perfect the motion better I think. Nice video, love it!
Ive said it b4 but Every pro on YT that demonstrates a swing without a ball Always starts by swinging club targetwards." Connection" is an illusion caused by good sequencing,if you try to connect arms to shoulders you will take club inside and have a back together thro together swing. If you agree with left sided post at impact than logically start the swing with a right sided post.I now start my swing in my right ankle, madness i know but wished id done it years ago!
What mat and net is that??
I have the same darn issue pulling club inside. So does drew not think about tight arm fold at all?
I asked him and he said he feels the right arm gets maybe 90 (gets more in real). He pressures right and then throws the club back then immediately starts shifting back towards target. Some structure/ stiffness in the arms.
@@BEBETTERGOLF Look forward to the next video you said about. This is similar concepts that Steve Furlonger talks about.
Be better at everything
martin ayers talks and utilizes this concept
wish i could do that, I'm still confused
i gotta ask what drew does for a living. he's got the trackman, home gym, etc. killer setup
I’m glad you asked! I was wondering the same thing as I watched the last video. His place is in Napa Valley, too, right?
Yeah, in napa on a vineyard. Drew is a PT and consultant for swing catalyst.
How do you challenge Drew ? 🙂
hey buddy , I think the medicine ball was a eye opener for you . Best video you have produced. Ponder on it for a week or two. good luck
Thanks for the idea. I have been and will, just saw drew today and hanging out again with him tomorrow.
@@BEBETTERGOLF The transition actually starts to occur before or around left arm parallel in the backswing. The medicine ball actually shows that . Good luck
Need to get Tig from G_M Golf to compete for the crown.
Geez he’s 150+ now and I felt like this was last month
This is all super cool. BUT.....why didn’t your great work in Kansas (170 mph) prove sticky?
I never improved my underlying sequence. I kind of psyched myself into a good sequence.
Milo would approve of his swing
Sorry Brendon but giggled a little when you first started swinging the ball
This is Dr Kwon ideas
So Mike Austin was right?
In what way?
@@BEBETTERGOLF Compound Pivot
@@BEBETTERGOLF throw the club back against the compound pivot. Let the pivot return your swinging arms to the ball and let fly down the line.
First thing that came to mind for me as well
He was definitely a genius! I did my best imitation of his swing with 2 days of practice and shot a 70 on a par 72 course. Hit a few thin but everything was dead straight. Never shot better than 76 on this course in 30 years! And then I switched back to my old swing and can't break 80. Hmm?
Rock your Body Right
Now you've put the Back Street Boys in my head
@@seth1455 misery loves company. If I'm going to hear it in my head someone else will too.
Jeeeez! So much for a smooth golf swing. No thanks.
*Brandon can you dance? IMHO Monte had you so immediately so hand path fixated that you had no awareness of ground pressure perspective at the beginning of BBG.*
great dancer (in my mind anyway). usually I hated lower body idea becuase I hit it like trash with them.
Let me correct you there baud. People don’t watch your channel for you. People watch your channel for men like Drew and Milo. We put up with you flailing about to in return get to see them.
This stuff is just brilliant!
